Chance Pe Dance - Movie Review
Sameer (Shahid) is stuck in the rut, wanting to be an actor but shuffling between jobs to make ends meet. Everything in this flick happens by chance, including Tina's (Genelia) bumping into Sameer.
The boy's luck doesn't quite favour him and in stead of auditions, he's stuck picking couriers and teaching dance to a bunch of school kids! More of a dance video and less of a film, the story moves at its own pace with frequent flashes of Shahid's eight-pack! Though you've seen it all before, it's Shahid and Genelia's chemistry that breathes life into the predictable proceedings.??The songs might not be chartbusters, but their treatment and the camerawork make them stand out.
Shahid has a certain earnest appeal that he uses to his advantage. Not to forget he's easily one of the most confident dancers in the industry.
He touches a chord in the scene where he breaks down in frustration. The length of the film works in its advantage, not stretching it to the point of irritation.
Genelia is easy on the eyes, not so much on the ears though. She sounds screechy in parts and brings back her Jaane Tu expressions when all else fails.
The whole world knows Shahid is a natural born dancer, if not an actor. That's a great thing if you are making a remake of Step Up! or a High School Musical, but making a dance film that loses focus and steam early on, isn't going to help anyone.
His moves and twists might be as fresh as Justin Timberlake's but the script and characters seem drawn out of a 1902 film! Laden with age-old clich'?s and subplots, the film rolls out the same underdog-versus-the-world story.??The track of Shahid playing teacher to a few school kids with two left feet should have been overplayed and utilised to make the premise interesting.
??Instead, it gets shoddy treatment and a cut-paste job worse than an editor snoozing on duty! There's so much?? invested in the build-up to the finale act that it all crumbles under pressure.??Shahid's bronzed look and his last performance are uninspiring and bereft of the zing or punch it promised.
Give this one a chance only if you're a fan of Shasha's Timberlake moves. Or pick up the Step Up! DVD for an encore.
?? U/A; Drama If that's the case, the actor definitely had a stinky time before he hit stardom. Sameer (Shahid) is stuck in the rut, wanting to be an actor but shuffling between jobs to make ends meet.

Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

My absolute must haves are browns, bronze and red shades of make-up, as they give my skin tone a very nice shine and suit me very well. I always carry these colors in my bag because I never know when I might show up at an event and feel completely under-dressed.
Also, any of these shades really adds that extra glow."

While talking about the honeymoon plans, Riteish had told us, "We can't have a honeymoon this month. Our producer Kumar Taurani has strictly forbidden us to go anywhere till our film releases this month as he wants Genelia and me to promote the film in various cities.
David Dhawan's son Rohit gets married on February 10, so immediately after our wedding Genelia and I will have to rush to Goa for that again. After that, will be my brother Dheeraj's wedding during the end of the month to Honey Bhagnani .
I have to be there for all the pre-wedding arrangements so going for our honeymoon this month seems impossible now."
(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .
They are my role models and I want to have a beautiful lineup of characters like them," says the actor
(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

Kangana Ranaut who left mouths wide open at her movie Fashion’s first look held at Cinemax. She was wearing something small in shining yellow and guess what she claims she has designed that dress herself.
Hold on… if you think this is the end then please wait, there’s more to come) She was also flaunting some red color false flowers and feathers on her made-up hair. Also a yellow color strap on her neck which resembled a dog collar.
If that wasn”t enough she also carried herself on shinning red heels and a matching red color bag. Thankfully Priyanka Chopra and Mugdha Godse too were present and were looking extremely stunning and beautiful.

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

(less)Mohit Suri to direct Aashiqui 2 with fresh faces
"It's been 20 years for that film. So, obviously now I will have to upgrade this story.
It will be the same realistic love story but with a modern theme," Suri told IANS. Aashiqui won critical accolades after its release at the time.
It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..
.a new generation is making this film," he said.

(less)Darsheel Safary hates his cheeks pulled by girls | Bollywood News and Gossip
This is when Darsheel decided to give it a try. During the same class, Amole Gupte spotted him and he asked him to give an audition.
Rest is history. His mom had given strict instructions that Darsheel had to continue his studies during shooting.
The post-production head Sunita was in-charge of looking after his studies on the sets. Aamir also gave a few lessons in English grammar.
Aamir also gifted him an X-box 360 on his birthday. Darsheel found the shootin a tiring experience and lost over two kilos.
Does he want to be an actor when he grows up? Not really. He would rather join the family’s jewelry business.
Why? He doesn’t care for fame because he hates it when girls in his school pull his cheeks. Now, that is terrible! What a price to pay for fame! Sphere: Related Content Posted in
(less)The Dirty Picture was a path-breaker: Tusshar
Though TDP was quintessentially Vidya's film, it has also opened the floodgates for this star-son who is being given a variety; from comedy to action to choose from. Is it true that post TDP you've been offered a lot of erotic thrillers? Yes, that's true! But I am not sticking by that.
I will not accept this genre unless it truly excites me. The Dirty Picture was a path-breaker.
The script of my next erotic film has to be either better than TDP or at least as good it. I have got a lot of offers for serious films too.
Because of Shor In The City? Yes! Shor In the city is definitely a feather in my cap. It does feel nice when people recognize your efforts.
It is like a reward for all the effort you put in. But I don't want to get stuck in a rut of doing just one genre of movies.
I'm not in a hurry and cash in. For me the challenge lies in doing something different all the time.
Is that why you're dabbling in action films now? It is an exciting space for me to be in! It also gives me a chance to work with new people. For instance, in Bhaiyyaji Superhit that is an action comedy directed by Neeraj Pathak, I share screen space with Sunny Deol and Arshad Warsi .
There's also Shootout At Wadala that I'm completely charged about. It is a hardcore action drama flick.
I was a part of Shootout At Lokhandwala and that had worked at the box office. Being a part of Shootout At Wadala was a natural progress.
I'm glad Sanjay Gupta offered me the film. As I said earlier variety is the key.
Well you are heading in the right direction. You also have a romcom - Samir Karnik's Chardin Ki Chandni.
..
(Smiles) Yes! This script was different. I play this guy who has come from abroad for his sister's wedding.
His girlfriend, played by Kulraj Randhwa, is with him but he can't let anybody know about it. The character then spins things around to protect his girlfriend's identity.
He wants to make his love life a success and does not mind churning out all this drama. It's a light-hearted fun film; a complete family entertainer.
When will Kya Supercool Hai Hum come? We have started the shoot and hope to release it sometime in June or July. It is going to be sex on toast again (laughs).

(less)Cinema is a beautiful way of communication: Kalki Koechlin
com on her latest film, That Girl In Yellow Boots and husband, Anurag Kashyap Kalki Koechlin (Pic: Varun Vazir) That Girl in Yellow Boots is co-written by both Kalki and Anurag. This is Anurag’s first film to have a global release.
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah in a pivotal role and releases on September 2, 2011. Was Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara a conscious effort to break from your image as an unconventional actress? No, it wasn’t.
I never consciously try to make an image for myself. I don’t want to have a forced image.
I want to be who I am and want that to be captured on camera candidly. ZNMD happened because Zoya (Akhtar) had liked my acting in Dev D and believed in me.
I agree, it’s a masala film but yet very relatable. I could imagine three boys going on a fun trip.
I am not bothered, if I am the heroine or how many lines I have. It’s about whether my character makes sense in the film.
My character in ZNMD was of an annoying girl who spoils the party. It was challenging and very different from my own personality.
How did you go about That Girl…? It was Anurag’s story and he narrated me the brief outline and asked me to write it. At first, I was very reluctant as the subject was intricate and he wanted a woman’s perspective on it.
When I began writing, the content came really easily. For instance, the story is based on a white-skinned girl, Ruth.
And I know what it’s to be one. The way people stare at you and the way guys assume you to be a flirt.
But then there were many aspects about which I had no idea and that’s when I would talk to Anurag. I spoke to some actors on this and did a lot of research.
The title of the film is peculiar. What’s your take on it? We should call it Peele joote waali ladki instead of That Girl In Yellow Boots.
(Chuckles) It is not a mass film and is releasing only in metros. We wanted a title that would stand out and match with our central character Ruth, who is an alien to the city of Mumbai and looks very odd which immediately makes you notice her boots.
What is the film about? It is about a young British citizen Ruth who comes to India in search of her father. The film begins with her already present in India for a year and is trying to renew her tourist visa.
She lives as an illegal immigrant and ends up doing odd jobs. The authorities don’t kick her out but take undue advantage of her.
The plot reveals how Ruth, in her desperate and stubborn search for her father, ends up losing herself. How different was it working again with Anurag? We were dating during the shoot of That Girl… and were able to understand each other much better.
He knew me better as an actor and could trust me more. I knew him better as a director and wasn’t shy to question him.
There was a lot more freedom. I could trust him while performing intimate scenes because I knew he wasn’t trying to do something cheap.
Was it difficult to perform intimate scenes in front of Anurag’s presence? I think Anurag had more trouble than me. (Giggles) Of course it’s very uncomfortable! My co-actor was more scared than me.
He was very scared to touch me but at the end of the day, it’s a part of our job. Do things become easy having Anurag on your side? The truth is Anurag casts me only when he feels I fit a particular role.
I am not a part of his Gangs of Wasseypur . I can never play a Bihari girl.
We have a mature, creative sensibility. On the other hand, there is a down side of being his wife.
People think I will only do certain kinds of films and a lot of commercial people don’t even think of approaching me. Have film festivals become a platform to test films before their release? Film festivals are important if you want to be taken seriously on a world platform.
A lot of Bollywood cinema works abroad mainly because we have such an amazing NRI population. We watch Hollywood films, but foreigners don’t watch our films.
Films from all over the world get under one roof with same human nature. Cinema is a beautiful way of communication.
Anurag recently made a comment that he won’t work with you again until it’s a light hearted film. Comment.
I would like to work with Anurag again. We have done two intense films together ( Dev D and That Girl… ) and it’s important that we work again in a different genre.
You don’t want to get stuck in a rut. I want to work with as many directors as possible because you learn different things from each one

(less)Hrithik goes back to school
..
Last week, Hrithik Roshan revisited his school Bombay Scottish a good 25 years after he passed out from there. While Roshan Jr was there mainly as part of a tie-up with a news channel to promote his upcoming and much talked about film Agneepath, it turned out to be one heck of an emotional ride for the superstar.
The school authorities happily granted his wish to meet his two favourite English teachers, Mrs Mosses and Mrs Beindish, who are now retired. A source close to Hrithik told us, "He is someone who hated going to school as a kid and would have never imagined that he would visit school once again.
His patent excuse was to fall sick..
. However, this time, he was extremely emotional when he visited the school and the places where he would hang out.
" Not one to pore into his books as a child, Hrithik still had his favourites namely his two English teachers. They came specially to meet their star student although they no longer teach there.
"Hrithik became extremely emotional, and it took him some time to get around to speaking about Agneepath for which he had primarily come," the source said. The students were delighted to have a star in their midst and some of them even danced to some of Hrithik's popular chartbusters, with the actor watching in rapt attention.
Later, he was presented a memento by the principal, which he joked about as being his first ever prize from school. According to the source, "Hrithik had some really fond memories of Bombay Scottish and was extremely thrilled to be there after so many years.
He visited his old classrooms, and the teachers told him how he was probably the 'quietest student' they had ever had." The teachers requested him to attend the annual Founders Day which is held in March every year but he politely declined since he would be shooting for Krrish 3 around the same time.
However he did promise them that he would make it next year. Despite our attempts to get in touch, Hrithik remained unavailable for comment
(less)More on the Genelia, Riteish wedding...
There were dancers, and guests dressed in the 9-yard Maharashtrian saris (navaris) making this wedding a truly traditional one. Genelia D'Souza made for a pretty bride in red.
Well attended by people from the film fraternity and politicos, Riteish ensured to make his fans a part of his big day, and immediately posted a picture of himself and his bride on twitter once the wedding ceremony was over and the handsome couple announced man and wife. The array of food was exotic - from Indian to world cuisine, the guests had enough and more to choose from.
Though the wedding was by and large a Maharashtrian one, Genelia is known to have conducted a few Catholic rituals. While Riteish had a haldi ceremony at home a day before the wedding, Genelia hosted a roce ceremony at her home and paid a visit to the the church to seek blessings.
The couple didn't meet each other after these respective ceremonies. They were made to stay put at home, and saw each other only on the wedding day.
The wedding reception of Genelia and Riteish will be held tomorrow, and is once again expected to be well attended by the who's who of Mumbai! Here's wishing the handsome couple a happy married life

The image stuck with me. Ironically, I started off my stage career with comedies.
Even when I was in NSD (National School of Drama, New Delhi), I essayed quite a few comic characters. However, I never got a chance to do comedies in my film career.
Because of my image, I always ended up getting serious roles." However, Atul Kulkarni doesn't deny that his first attempt at comedy was in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi 6.
"My character Gobar was a light hearted and simple man. But that wasn't outright comic.
Challis Chaurasi certainly is a surprise. Hriday Shetty believes that my character of Bobby will surprise everyone," added the actor.
Talking about the film, the actor revealed, "In Challis Chaurasi, Naseerbhai ( Naseeruddin Shah , Ravi Kishan , Kay Kay Menon and I play four undercover cops. It is a comic thriller.
Since there are no female leads in the film, we do the dancing and singing part as well."

"Bhaavesh Gandhi, the person spearheading Strut, is young, talented and a very skilled dance instructor, who was previously with Shiamak Davar . I have seen him and I believe he's very good," says the actress.

The groom's tweet was preceded by one from actor Shahid Kapoor, announcing the wedding of his Chance Pe Dance co- star. " And G is married !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbeleivable .

Riteish, wearing a white sherwani and red feta (turban), entered the Grand Hyatt on a ghodi. The baaraat started from the grounds near Grand Hyatt and reached the hotel.

" Riteish and Genelia's wedding today is expected to draw bigwigs from the film industry and politics. Father of the groom, Vilasrao Deshmukh, is the former chief minister of Maharashtra and is the Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences.
Riteish, Genelia's grand sangeet Both Riteish and his bride-to-be Genelia are on Twitter, this morning. Both sent tweets to Mona Kapoor, entrepreneur and first wife of producer Boney Kapoor, wishing her on her birthday.
Earlier, they posted tweets to actor Priyanka Chopra who missed their sangeet due to filming. Dressed in their best, stars at sangeet Yesterday Riteish and Genelia wrapped up chores (their last as singles).
We spotted them first at Linking Road in Bandra and later, Genelia prayed at her church. Known to be religious, Genelia wore her pre-bridal glow, which added sheen to her otherwise casual jeans and blazer look.
A party, a grand sangeet on Tuesday and rituals have preceded the wedding. While Riteish and Genelia's colleagues stepped out in their best traditional outfits and spent happy hours at the sangeet, Genelia was seen dancing her heart out at a ritual yesterday.
Moving away from tradition for a bit, a party was hosted for them by producer Sajid Nadiadwala and actor Fardeen Khan on January 24. Riteish and Genelia first met while shooting their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.
Despite leading public lives, their eight-year courtship has been largely private. Post marriage, the two will be seen together in a love story on screen - Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya - a Hindi film scheduled to release at the end of this month.

(less)Bollywood happenings in Hyderabad
.Does not confine itself to Hyderabad alone.
2011 saw many Bollywood biggies visit the city and their trip brought with them face-offs, link-ups and more. Here's a round up of the various headline-creating moments for Bollywood in Hyderabad Cover-up of the year Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma: Are they? Aren't they? The question that plagued Bollywood for long was finally answered in Hyderabad.
Former lovers, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, were spotted together at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad as they had come to town to attend the wedding of a city biggie. As the shutterbugs spotted the duo, Ranveer in all his chivalry tried to protect his lady love, Anushka, who demurely chose to walk behind him.
That the couple chose to part ways later is a different story altogether. Holidayers of the year Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor: They are self-confessed lovers of London and Switzerland.
In fact, Kareena claims Switzerland is "like home". But when Bollywood's star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor needed to spend some quality time with one another, they chose Hyderabad, in all its princely glory.
While Saif was in town shooting with Deepika Padukone for "Cocktail", Kareena flew in to join him for a few days. The couple then moved into the palace-turned-star hotel for some R&R, putting the destination on the map for all lovers.
Hip shakers of the year Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif: He jumped from a platform of considerable height and she dance to "Sheila Ki Jawaani". And in between all this, the services of a chopper were used.
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif regaled a select few in Hyderabad during the engagement ceremony of Mallika and Siddharth Reddy. Yes, Bollywood stars shimmying and shaking at weddings is what we heard of in other cities, but this time, B-Town came calling for an engagement ceremony.
And what a spectacle it was! The Ooh La La Lady of the year Vidya Balan: While the world had forgotten about Silk Smitha and her story, actor Vidya Balan was single-handedly responsible for bringing the southern siren with Telugu roots back in public memory through "The Dirty Picture". And along with that, Silk's long lost relatives and friends too managed to find their five minutes of fame.
Be it shooting in the city for the flick or returning to promote the movie, Vidya gave it her all. From going retro to risque, Vidya sure made many turn around and say 'Ooh La La'.
Jodi of year Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra: Yes, it all began here, in Hyderabad. The stories that now so frequent the pages of all entertainment and gossip tabs and mags was originally a Hyderabad baby.
Shah Rukh Khan's proximity to co-star Priyanka Chopra has been documented for the past few months. But it was in Hyderabad that King Khan brought along Priyanka Chopra for the first time to perform at the GVK wedding.
And ever since, the rumor mills have been churning overtime. For now, it seems like PC accompanies SRK wherever he goes! Rockstar of the year Ranbir Kapoor: He is one cool customer - charming, talented and a ladies man.
Ranbir Kapoor sure knows how to make the ladies swoon. In the city to promote his flick "Rockstar" the Kapoor lad, not only had the ladies eating out of his hands, but also managed some 'me' time with director Imtiaz Ali.
Taking an auto ride around the city, the actor not only soaked in the sights of Hyderabad, but also gorged on the delectable cuisine and did some late night shopping as well. And all this minus the fuss and hullabaloo that usually surrounds a B-Town star.
No wonder then, Ranbir is Bollywood's original Rockstar . Most-awaited drama of the year It was touted to be the biggest face-off in the history of Bollywood.
The playground was Hyderabad and the players were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Now everyone knows that there's no love lost between the two Khans.
That Ash and Salman share a very troubled history too is old news. But all these years, the three have been careful to avoid bumping into one another in public, even by mistake.
So when the three of them were scheduled to come to the city for the wedding festivities of a famous city family, the media went berserk. A face-off was guaranteed and that left most mediawallahs salivating.
But trust our B-Town stars to avoid such situations with perfection. It so happened that while SRK was at the venue Ash-Abhishek and Salman were conspicuous by their absence.
The moment SRK took his leave Abhi-Ash sauntered in, socialized for a while and left. Then entered the Khan of the season, Salman, with his entourage in tow.
Yes, they were all at the same venue, albeit at different times. So no fireworks here folks.
Tourist of the year Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan: If one owns an IPL team, the other is part of the CCL team. The Badshah of Bollywood and B-Towns enfant terrible were Hyderabad's most frequent high profile B-Town visitors this year.
SRK came to the city to watch his team, Kolkata Knight Riders , play in the IPL, apart from attending a high profile shaadi and shooting portions of his magnum opus, "Ra.One".
Meanwhile, Salman too came to the city umpteen times to watch his team in the CCL, Bollywood Heroes, play cricket. That apart, film promos and weddings too kept the Khan of the season coming back to the city for more.
Not forgetting however are the rocking bashes that Salman would throw in the city for his buddies. But alas, only a select few were allowed entry! Compiled by Sarah Salvadore

(less)Sonam Kapoor snubs Neil Nitin Mukesh
The rest of the cast only discovered this as the shooting progressed. What's worse, the actor is bursting with inputs on scenes or song sequences, annoying several of the other actors in the movie.
However, while the rest of the cast is apparently taking Neil's 'friendly advice' with a smile, Sonam Kapoor has decided not to entertain him. For a song-and-dance sequence, Neil (who prides himself on being a singer, composer and choreographer) started supervising the choreographer.
A source said, "Neil meant no harm. He likes to make his presence felt on the sets.
But when he advised Sonam on how to do her steps, she told him to keep his advice to himself." "He did try to suggest dance steps to Sonam, and she didn't like it.
She made it clear to Neil that she didn't appreciate his unsolicited assistance. Poor Neil.
He just likes to be more than just an actor while shooting," the source added. Red-faced, the actor apparently withdrew from the scene and kept quiet thereafter.
Neil, as expected, laughs off the story. "Sonam is a darling.
I don't need to show dance moves to a person who is a genius at it. In fact, I learnt a few extra dance steps from her," he said.

(less)I am very fond of Rana: Bipasha
But Bipasha does not bat an eye-lid while talking about them. And having lost oodles of weight, she is looking a million bucks.
Over steaming cups of coffee at a suburban five-star, she spoke to Mumbai Mirror about her career, men and moves Feeling good about your next film Players? Very much. While it is felt that I was added only recently, the truth is that I was cast long back.
It is just that the cat wasn't let out from the bag. The film has all the Abbas-Mustan ingredients- the twists, turns, plots.
I play an automobile expert who uses her charms to get things done. And you've donned a bikini in it.
We last saw you in a two-piece in Dhoom 2..
. It is the second time on celluloid yes, but the millionth time in real life (laughs).
I am quite a beach bum. But I won't wear a bikini in a movie for just the heck of it.
Do you know that I said 'No' to wearing one in Rohan Sippy's Dum Maro Dum? Players is a James Bondish flick, very fast and furious. The bikini suits it.
There's more on this bikini..
. Sure.
..
I wanted to look like a total woman before I got into it. I told Abbas-Mustan to inform me a month prior to the day they want me for that particular scene.
Once they sounded me off, I did some beach-body training. I am very small around my lower body; I put on some muscle to look fuller.
And I went on a diet, which sucks. I am a full-on Bong and I badly wanted gulab jamuns and jalebis on many days, lekin nahin khaya.
You wear a bikini but you don't like to kiss on screen? Your information is right. But isn't kissing very different from wearing a bikini? Kissing is also very different from doing a lovemaking scene, where we just cheat.
We don't make out in real, do we? Locking lips is a very intimate emotion. Yes, I did kiss Ranbir in Bachna Ae Haseeno, but I didn't sleep a month before shooting that kiss.
I kept telling Aditya Chopra to change that scene, I even told him to convert it into a lovemaking scene but ..
. (shrugs).
Do you believe in commitment and marriage? Absolutely. My parents are still die-hard romantics.
But what makes you suddenly ask that? Oh, so now the sticky questions eh? Coz' its' said that John and you ended your 10-year long relationship because you wanted marriage and he did not? Sirf ek cheez se rishte nahin toot jaate. Bahut kuch life mein hota hai, phir jaake rishte bigadte hain.
Above all, destiny comes into play. Was it painful? Was it difficult to overcome? Breakups are always tough and I have had my share.
But one needs to understand that life can't come to a standstill if a relationship doesn't work out. People do get stuck; I am glad that I did not.
I used a bit of my intellect and friends-n- family contributed to pull me out from that tough period. Today, I am so free and light.
Post your relationship with John, you dated many guys- Josh, Shahid, Rana. Howzzatt! I just told you that I am free and light.
If one has been going around dating someone, he /she is not free and light. Then what's going on between you and Shahid? I was never dating Shahid.
So how could we have parted ways? But I am still very much in touch with him. He and I talk to each other every day.
What's going on between you and Rana? I meet Rana. I am very fond of him.
He is very sweet. We get along like a house on fire.
But I am not dating him. And he isn't my best friend in the industry either.
Listen, I am a very responsible girl. Dating is a very frivolous word.
When I started off with John, I was only 22-23. I am extremely mature now.
If I get into a new relationship, I shall announce it in a dignified manner. And I shall have marriage in mind with that person.
I wish I get someone like R Madhavan. What! Why someone like R Madhavan? He is so good at his work, so very caring for his wife, so very accommodating with his friends.
I want someone like him. Someone younger and fitter than him.
Also, he is so secure, well read and humorous. Aise log aajkal nahin milte.
Bahut kam hain. Lekin I tell you, mujhe milega Madhavan jaisa koi.
But you were involved with Josh (Hartnett)? Kuch toh tha Josh ke saath..
. Kyun bataun main kya tha? (laughs).
Okay, he was very nice. But he doesn't live in India.
It was impractical. Two people can like each other but nothing ever will happen out of it.
It was something like that. So you took a back step? Possibly.
But it was never said. In the past, my heart used to rule over my head.
But now, my head is in sync with my heart. Back to John.
Like how you keep in touch with your exes- Milind, Dino and Josh, would you keep in touch with him? Certain bonds never break. We spent some nice moments in the past, how can I start disrespecting them? But I can't say the same about John; it's too early (stares at the ceiling).
That reminds me, you and John don't even exchange pleasantries if and when you'll bump into each other at a gym in Bandra? I am a fitness freak. Gym time is totally my time.
So why should I give any of it to some ex-boyfriend of mine? And you know, I remove my lenses when I exercise. So thereafter, I am blind.
Besides, I have a three-month memory. All the more reason that you talk to him since you'll parted ways nearly a year ago? As a new person? No.
I remember John's face (laughs). Okay, I'll talk to him (thinks).
But why should I talk to him? Talk to him and do what? Will you do a movie with him? Sure. He is a good-looking, saleable actor.
Back to your work. Tell us your forthcoming films? And have you really resolved your issues with the Bhatts? Players, Jodi Breakers and Singularity.
As for the Bhatts, Mahesh and Mukesh are very nice people. Mukesh is a bit sensitive, though.
But you see, I have been like their little baby. And they still feel the same about me.
Raaz 3 is not only homecoming for me but easily my most challenging role till date (pauses and then suddenly gets up). Gosh!I have to rush to the gym.
Wanna join me? The first thing that comes to Bips' mind when she thinks of: Dino Morea Cute butt Milind soman Dashing Shahid kapur Dancer Josh hartnett Worldly wise Rana dagubatti Tall John abraham Nothing

Shahid Kapoor bonds with Chitrangada Singh
It was also at Shahid's suggestion that the actress was roped in to co-host a segment of the event with him. Shahid, who performed at the awards, was initially to anchor with Anushka Sharma.
However at the last minute, she was unable to do so. This was when Chitrangada stepped in, thanks to the actor's recommendation.
The duo looked very comfortable with each other while anchoring together. "It appears that Shahid has hit it off well with Chitrangada.
They behaved like buddies. His growing friendship with the actress did attract attention at the venue," said a source.
Interestingly, Shahid's ex flame Priyanka Chopra also performed at the awards. But great care had been taken to avoid bumping into each other.
Their vanity vans, too, were parked far away from each other to avoid any run in. A few months back there was buzz about Sasha's friendship with Bipasha Basu but that turned out to be a short-lived relation.

And that translates into confidence, which shows," said the ex-Miss India. Delhi is so beautiful and spacious I love coming to Delhi.
It is so beautiful, spacious and clean. Though the traffic here is a big headache, but then I guess traffic is a problem everywhere in India.
But, traffic or no traffic, I really love it here. The sprawling lawns, the wide roads and huge rooms, one can never have all this in Mumbai.
You know what, we all joke that the rooms in Mumbai can easily fit into bathrooms in Delhi. Delhi houses are grand in terms of space.
Miss india was a great experience I had a great time during both Miss India and Miss Universe pageants. Both the events proved to be a great learning experience, as both of them involved extreme training.
But while everything was nice and the girls were friendly, there were some issues with some contestants. You know there is one rotten apple everywhere.
I was a padhakoo bachcha I have always been very academically inclined. I used to be a topper in my school.
I never bunked my classes, neither did I sit at the back bench ever in my life. I was always very regular with my homework.

But when it comes to getting appreciation, they are hardly recognised," says Neha, who has spent about a decade in Bollywood now. Not surprisingly, Neha has decided to dedicate this film to the dancers.
And to get into character, she tried to study their lives at close quarters, though it wasn't easy as the dancers wouldn't let Neha enter their world initially. "They appeared to have hard exteriors but gradually they softened," says Neha.
Talking about the film, she says it brought out the "Pappu" in her, adding that she started her career as a backstage hand at a beauty pageant. Not many are aware that she helped models with their shoes and assorted other work at the first fashion show she attended.
"I always wanted to be in the industry and small jobs backstage were like summer jobs for me. I started off as a production assistant, a helper.
..
and I enjoyed the entire process. There is a "Pappu" in all of us.
It is our fear, our insecurity that makes us that way. I've never spoken about my story, but I'm not shy of doing so now.
" Presented under the banner R-Vision, Pappu Can't Dance Saala is produced by Ravindra Singh and releases today
(less)Karan directs Riteish-Gen’s sangeet party
And not just when it comes to his films. The filmmaker, who considers the Hindi cinema industry to be one big happy family has decided to direct the sangeet ceremony for Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's wedding to be held on February 1, at a suburban five star.
Karan, who coordinated the entire sangeet ceremony for the big Bachchan wedding between Abhi-Ash in April 2007, will be the mastermind behind the acts for Riteish and Genelia's sangeet ceremony. And Mumbai Mirror got the lowdown on of the KJo directed evening.
TAILOR MADE EVENING For Karan, as we know from his films, clothes are very important. He highlighted and made the 'metrosexual man' popular in Bollywood with Saif Ali Khan's wardrobe in Kal Ho Naa Ho.
And thus, the filmmaker, who is known to have a keen eye for fashion has taken the big responsibility of designing Riteish's clothes, revealed a friend of the groom-to-be. "KJo is very busy with his upcoming releases Agneepath and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
However, he is leaving no stone unturned to co-ordinate everything for the sangeet. In fact, he even made it a point to attend the pre-wedding bash held by Fardeen Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala on Tuesday night," added the friend.
BRO-MANTIC DANCING Riteish's brother Dheeraj has also decided to put up an act for the ceremony. Joining him in the act will be his wife Honey and brother-in-law Jaccky Bhagnani.
"In fact the rehearsals for the dance acts are being conducted in Jackky's house regularly," revealed Riteish's friend. AN ACT OF FRIENDSHIP If brothers can dance, so can the friends.
Riteish's good friend Fardeen and Zayed Khan have thus decided to put up an act as well. "Genelia's school friends have been practicing their dance as well.
They also have planned a rather entertaining sequence," revealed the friend. For the pre wedding party hosted by Sajid Nadiadwala and Fardeen Khan for Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza, friends from Bollywood came down to wish the bride and groom-to-be.
Karan Johar was seen playing the DJ and Boman Irani too did his part by delivering a rather fun speech. Interestingly, Sajid Khan came sans his girlfriend Jacqueline Fernandes, who had reportedly had a fallout with Riteish earlier

Sphere: Related Content Posted in
(less)Prateik and I make a good pair onscreen: Amy Jackson

(less)2011 is a great year for children's films
Year 2011, however, has seen at least three critically acclaimed movies with child actors or children's movies - "Stanley Ka Dabba", "I Am Kalam" and "Chillar Party". With Children's Day round the corner, RT explores if the success of these movies giving reasons enough to be optimistic about the growing interest in India about this genre? Says Nila Madhab Panda, the director of "I Am Kalam", "Despite having a huge market, children's films in India are made with child-like sensibilities.
Why do we in India have to only rely on mythology while making children's movies? Why is it only the Bal Ganesh and Hanuman that inspires us to make movies for children? Can't we see how Majid Majidi has single-handledly transformed the way children's films are to be made? Year 2011 has seen a change in the approach of the industry towards making children's movies though I still feel that had our movies got the same push as the other big entertainers in India, they would have done even better. After "IAK" went on to become successful, I received so many offers from producers asking me if I had a script for a children's movie.
There was no interference and I was told that I could make a film just the way I want to." Panda, in fact, has begun shooting his next movie titled " Jal Bin Jal Pari" in Delhi.
"The English title is "The Desert Mermaid". It's an adventure thriller which I will be shooting in Rajasthan and Delhi.
Harsh Mayar (who did "IAK") will be shooting this movie again though the main lead is a new girl," Panda informs. Nitesh Tiwari, who directed "Chillar Party" along with Vikas Bahl, says, "Year 2011 can easily be termed as one of the best years for children's cinema in India.
Finally, children's films in India is getting what they deserve. That's a welcome sign since there is a dearth of good movies for children even though we have a market for it.
This is a very encouraging sign for producers and directors. Apart from "CP", "IAK" and "SKD", India also came up with some interesting animation films.
We were clear that "CP" would be a film that would be liked by both adults and kids and wanted to have child protagonists who were true to reality. Children today are no longer moved by a man falling on a banana peal.
Though I have not decided on my next project, I have a script with a child protagonist in mind." Director Amol Gupte, however, is not interested in the numbergame to suggest the growing interest in this genre.
"It's a tricky question. One has to deal with children's film with political correctness and not just as a form of entertainment.
The purpose of a film being made has to match with the process of making it too. One can't make a film on child labour and also have the child slogging it out for 12 hours shooting for it.
If we are so strict about the number of hours an animal can be used to shoot, how can we not be sensitive enough about child actors?" Gupte asks, adding, "When I shot with my son, Partho for "SKD", I made sure that he got his Sunday offs. We would shoot on Saturdays in a children's school.
After the film released, Partho must have got 40 offers to do interviews or act in movies. But he has not accepted all that.
Partho studies in Standard VI and comes for my classes on cinema. I don't want him to do anything that will take his innocence away from him.
" While Gupte is now shooting a film called "Papa" that is about sanity and insanity, his next movie will also focus on the concerns of children. "I have a script ready.
It is about financial inequality and how children who are not financially sound do not receive the new streams of educational content. My idea of education is to have a single umbrella for children with all abilities.
I don't appreciate this idea of segregation and non-inclusive teaching. Here in India, we have separate teaching modules for children who are differently abled.
That creates a segregation among teachers as well. A teacher for a special school ends up being a nurse and is often hellbent on making a patient out of a child.
Then, there is this overuse of the term "hyperactive" children. My script of this untitled movie keeps on growing.
I will be starting it next year." Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, "Things are definitely opening up in terms.
Apart from "CP", even "Ra.One" definitely had targetted the kids as an important segment of the audience.
Producers and directors have realised that if they can target more and more children, it would also translate into more parents coming into the theatres. That's a very enouraging sign for the industry.

(less)Rachel Weisz to star opposite Colin Firth in The Railway Man
The real life story is based on former army officer Eric's book which details his experiences as a prisoner of war, and how he set out decades later to track down his tormentors and exact some revenge. Patti was responsible for helping him to confront his fears and she also wrote to the man Eric held responsible for his torture.
War Horse star Jeremy Irvine will play a younger version of Firth's character during his time in captivity. "Lomax suffered cruel and horrible treatment.
I've been studying what happened to him and it was grim," Irvine said. Jonathan Teplitzky is directing the film, with Frank Cottrell Bryce and Andy Paterson writing the script.
" The Railway Man is an amazing story and to have the chance to make it with Colin Firth as Eric is really the best gift any director could hope for," Teplitzky said. Tweet
(less)Pappu Can't Dance Saala: Movie Review
But beyond that when it strays into entirely different terrain, the movie loses its audience. Vidyadhar (Vinay Pathak) works in a private company but lives (as an illegal tenant) in a government colony in Mumbai.
Mehek Malvade (Neha Dhupia) who works as a backup dancer in films shifts next doors. She is anything but the girl-next-door and her cheeky conduct initiates enmity with her neighbour.
When a vigilance raid renders her homeless, Mehek moves in Vidyadhar's apartment, much against his wish. As their initial hostility is replaced by a friendly bond, they come close.
But the ambitious Mehek is besotted by glamour world and will stop at nothing to make her starry dreams come true. Writer-director Saurabh Shukla starts the film on a promising note and though it never gets outrageously funny (like one expects it to be), it doesn't bore you either.
The pace is slow and the tempo keeps dropping every now and then. The Bambaiyya v/s Banarasi attitude of brawl between Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia defines their cross-connected chemistry here.
The tone of humour is inconsistent ranging from some hilarious moments to some plain passable ones. But beyond humour, the film focuses more on the heartwarming bond that it subtly develops between its odd pair.
But as Mehek's journey to reach the stars takes over, the film loses focus. Going on a completely different tangent, it highlights the turmoil of a struggling actress and how her family disapproves of filmdom.
Furthermore it distances her from love. Disillusioned in the city of dreams, Vidyadhar moves back to his hometown and the film attempts to give an insight on the urban-rural divide.
Until Naseeruddin Shah (reprising a role immortalized by Anupam Kher in Bollywood ) persuades his son to seek true love. And just when you presume that a seemingly lecherous producer (Rajat Kapoor) would make a pass at Mehek, he plays agony uncle guiding her to true love.
Finally when the end credits roll in a film-studio, showcasing the behind-the-scene existence of the movie industry, one wonders why the film needlessly treads into Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance zone. What was the central plot after all? The murky side of movie world? Despair in city of dreams? What point did the film attempt to make after wandering off into so many offshoots, when we were always under the impression that it was a minimal tale of mismatched romance? The performances are perfect.
Vinay Pathak doesn't fall prey of overdoing his underplaying act and is poised in his character. Neha Dhupia completely justifies her meaty role with an audacious act.
Rajat Kapoor is restrained as usual in his small bit. Naseeruddin Shah gets a cliched character.
Brijendra Kala and Sanjay Mishra lend decent support. The film ends with an off-track moral to the story - to accept a person without expecting them to change.
But it's difficult to accept this partially engaging film, unconditionally! On that note this pappu doesn't pass muster. Alas pappu fail ho gaya ! Verdict: Average
(less)I really wish Ekta remake Farz with me: Tusshar Kapoor
"There is nothing called excessive promotion if a movie is good," he insists. But then, at 35, Tusshar has made some tough choices in his professional life.
As he settles for an interview, he says, "While Ekta is known to be opinionated, I have this image of being soft and introverted. But I have understood the need to voice my opinion in order to stand up for myself.
It's the best way of earning respect. Otherwise, you work in an industry where if you give a finger, people ask for your hand.
Besides, if I tell a director that he needs to finish shooting by 7 pm, his schedule will be better planned and that will be beneficial for both of us and the product. I've also decided not to sign a movie because I want to be busy.
I'd sit back at home for six months and enjoy a vacation instead." While he is changing his functioning style, is there any change Tusshar has brought about in Ekta? "I've introduced her to squash and yoga.
She is physically fitter now. She has calmed down a lot too," he offers.
But why does Ekta have this image of being so hot-tempered? "I think, it's got to do with her workload. Besides, there is this whole gender bias issue too.
Since she is a woman, her temper is highlighted. There are so many other directors including David Dhawan , Satish Kaushik and Rajkumar Santoshi, who might lose their temper.
But nobody really talks about that. Ekta might lose her temper but she will also be the first one to go and apologize.
Male directors hardly do that. Nobody talks about Ekta apologizing; they only discuss her temper.
I guess, this is a societal issue of gender perceptions," the protective brother explains. Talking about misconceptions, Tusshar also highlights how the industry wrongly believes that he is only doing his home production movies.
"Among the 25 films that I've done, "The Dirty Picture" is my fifth film from my home production. I have refused "EMI" and "Krishna Cottage" despite their being home productions.
My biggest hit was "Golmaal" and that's not by our home production," he says. While he might have turned down Ekta's movies, doesn't he wish he were offered some of Ekta's hit productions? "As a human being, there are times when I do wish I was offered those roles.
For instance, the role played by Emraan Hashmi in "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai". Honestly speaking, 20 per cent in me wishes the role had come to me.
But the rest 80 per cent is happy that Emraan was cast because it only goes on to show that as a banner, we respect talent and do not believe in casting because a person belongs to the family," explains the actor, whose forthcoming movies include "Char Din Ki Chandni" and "Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum". Speaking about family, doesn't he wish to reprise a role immortalized by his father? "I have never fallen prey to comparisons.
It's only now that people, after seeing me in the "Ooh la la" song, have been saying that with the wig and moustache, I look like my dad. My father never taught me how to dance; he put me on to a choreographer.
Despite being from this industry, I am a self-made person. If I ever get a chance, I'd love to do a remake of "Parichay".
" Any film of his father's that he'd want Ekta to remake with him in the lead? "I wish, Ekta remade "Farz" with me. That was India's first Bond film and had such good songs.
" Speaking about Ekta's work, does he remember that his "TDP" co-star, Vidya Balan, from Ekta's "Hum Paanch" days where she played the geeky Radhika and had this habit of bumping into objects and people? "I was studying abroad when this serial used to air. It was one of the many serials I watched.
At that time, I wanted to join the corporate world. I think, Vidya was cast as a replacement and she used to wear specs in the serial.
Ekta had also introduced me to her. Later on, Vidya reminded me of that meeting from the " HP " days.
It had never occurred to me that she'd become a star one day and that we would work together," he admits. Considering the huge rise of Vidya from her television days to the star that she is now, does he notice any change in the power dynamics between them? "No.
That's the beauty of Vidya. She is very grounded.
Both of us have worked on an independent basis. I am senior to her in Bollywood.
As a family, we have never felt that we need to be possessive because she got her television break in our home production," he says. So, at 35, what does his relationship status read now? "I'm very much single.
" And what about his link-up stories, the more recent being the one with Radhika Apte? "We just went out together once and got along well while filming. Someone must have noticed that and leaked the information in the media.
Link-ups stories are never spread by stars but once such stories do the rounds, we might just be told not to debunk it," he explains. What about stars (read Riteish and Genelia) who ,for years, deny that they are in a relationship only to finally admit to the press that are seeing each other? Doesn't that give a dirty name to the "we-are-justgood-friends" tag? "Finally, it's the stars' prerogative about when they want to come out in the media and disclose such personal details.
If stars aren't comfortable, why should the media worry? As for myself, I am single. I have no reservations about dating someone from the industry.
Trust is all I'm looking for," he signs off
(less)Dance like no one is watching: Natasha Suri
Instead I chose to learn contemporary freestyle dancing and studied it for a year or so," says Natasha Suri . The model and TV show host says the fact that you can express your state of mind whether extreme joy or pain through dance is what makes it so appealing.
She feels an immense sense of relief after dancing which is why she loves it so much. "I think everyone should dance to their heart's content.

(less)Genelia, Riteish are engaged?
Confirms a source, "They have been planning a wedding for a while now, and families of both stars thought that an official engagement would only be appropriate." Interestingly, not a single friend of the couple from the industry was invited to celebrate their special day.
Despite finally deciding to make it official, they stuck to a low-key ceremony with just a few family members and close friends, present. "The two have been dating for almost eight years now, but have never spoken about it.
They have not just done films together, but have also made countless appearances at parties, award functions and on red carpets," adds the source. The source adds, apparently, Riteish was very sure from the beginning that he wanted to tie the knot with Genelia.
But his family was not too happy with his decision. "They wanted him to get married to a girl from their community and so it took some time for him to convince them otherwise," says the source.

(less)Chitrangda Singh to share screen with Arjun Rampal
Here, she talks about the transition. You began your career with Hazaaron Khwaishein.
..
It happened purely by chance. I missed a flight to Korea and got a call from a guy who had seen my music video and wanted me to audition for the role in HKA.
I had to audition four times before I finally got the role. It was only after I saw the film at a trial that I felt I had a career.
I hugged and thanked my director Sudhir Mishra . What made you switch to masala cinema? It was a conscious decision.
I was stuck in a rut doing the same intense performances in every 'arthouse' film. When Rohit Dhawan called me up for Desi Boyz, I was thrilled! Doing commercial cinema is fun.
I wanted to do something different and glamourous and it was the perfect time to have got the role. Parallel cinema is more challenging and emotionally draining.
An actor's every movement or word is laden with meaning and there are heavy layers to every character. They are never one-dimensional like masala cinema is.
What was the transition like? It's not easy doing comedy in commercial cinema. One can't overdo it.
You have to keep it real and believable or else it looks as if you are hamming. So commercial cinema is also tough in its own way.
My family is very excited about my new film and feel very proud. They say I look better than the other actress in the film but I think they're biased.
About your first ever item number in Joker..
. That was sudden.
I got a call from Farah Khan whom I happened to meet at a parlour. I loved shooting for it so much that after five days I told director Shirish Kunder and Farah that I don't want to pack up but carry on shooting.
It's a lovely mix of lavani and other dances and a full-on passionate and sensuous number. I love dancing and am passionate about it.
What films come next? There's I Me Aur Mein with John again and Mehrunissa with Arjun Rampal
