Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .

(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

"It's been 20 years for that film. So, obviously now I will have to upgrade this story.
It will be the same realistic love story but with a modern theme," Suri told IANS. Aashiqui won critical accolades after its release at the time.
It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..

(less)Adah is fine with ugly looks, supernatural thrillers
The film starred Adah and newcomer Rajneesh Duggal as the married couple. Now, she would be essaying a clairvoyant in Bhatt's upcoming film.
"I was sure that I wanted to start with a movie that would focus on me and that I get a fantastic role. Sometimes, there are people in the industry for ten years and they don't get any scope for performance.
..
and I think without having a 'filmi' backing I got to do that in my first film so whether it was supernatural or thriller or comedy did not matter to me," Adah told PTI. On the risk of restricting herself to this genre and getting typecast, Adah said, "I did not think much about all this.
I don't think these days people block their minds and say that this girl did horror film and cannot look beautiful." "A lot of people said that I will never get to play a pretty girl or happy character.
But today I am endorsing lot of big brands like Nokia with Sharman Joshi then Limca and Parachute who have signed me for two years and also Olay," she said. The 22-year-old actress says her debut film, 1920 had changed the perception of the industry people.
"I remember for 1920 , Vikram Sir had asked if I was fine looking ugly and I said okay. I even told him I am ready to look old.
Industry people got to know that I am fine experimenting with looks..
. black spots or whatever I am ready to do it," Adah said.
In her second film, Adah would be sharing screen again with Rajneesh and television actress Roshni Chopra. In Phhir Adah essays the role of Disha, who sets out to help a doctor (Rajneesh) with clues that take him closer to unravel the mystery of his missing lawyer wife (Roshni).
"I play a young girl who is not attractive. You will see me covered from head to toe exposing only my fingers and you cannot see any curve in my body.
My eyes have a deadpan look. I even walk with a slight hunch throughout the film.
There is an element of mystery that shrouds my character," Adah said. She says the role of Disha was quite challenging.
"It was quite tough. As in real life I am very happy person and use my hands and eyes often as I am Kathak dancer.
I had to be very still and even if I have to cry only one drop should come out..
. no expression.
I don't smile in the entire movie. So it was very difficult to stay still all the while," Adah said.
"For my role in Phhir I meditated..

(less)Poornima drinks & dances for men: Raghubir Yadav
She probably earns way more than I do. Woh hamesha mujhse paise nikalwaane ki koshish mein rehti hai.
She also threatened me into getting her a 20,000 sq feet house and keeps harassing me for money. We've been separated for 17 years, but aren't divorced.
So how can I pay alimony?" Poornima is a Nepali with no passport. She drinks and dances for men at the Press Club Raghubir says he married Poornima, not out of love, but because he pitied her condition.
"The day my son was born, she said, 'Ab toh beta ho gaya hai, ab tu chhodke dikha.' She used to or still lives at Mandi House with four-five men and is out most nights.
She drinks and parties, but a farmer's son like me has nothing to do with such a lifestyle," he says, "Woh naagin dance karti hai Press Club mein, but people whom I asked to click her were too drunk to get me proof." Raghubir also claims Poornima has only finished her education till standard seven, but shows a higher secondary certificate which he believes is forged.
Raghubir's Delhi lawyer is Shahnawaz Khan, who'll fight his case, and his current partner is Roshni Achreja, who says Poornima has, in the past, attacked her and her six-year-old son with Raghubir. I came into his life when he was dying, Poornima calls me the mistress Roshni Achreja, Raghubir's partner and 'zindagi', as he refers to her, says that she is not ashamed of having loved a man like him.
"Poornima insults me, she attacked me and my son in the past and talks in a very cheap manner. I am a respectable woman and if I am living with Raghubir, it is with honour.
I have a video of how Poornima reacted when she got Raghubir arrested for kidnapping and violence last time," she says. My son accused me of kidnapping, got me arrested Raghubir says the day his son, Achal, grabbed his collar and ill treated him, is the day he realised his son was a pawn who was being controlled by his mother.
"I paid for the boy's fees and would go to meet him in Panchgani. My wife then accused me of kidnapping him although all this while, I have been paying for all his expenditure, unaware that there is a court order for me to do so," says Raghubir.
Achal asked for `80,000for a birthday party Roshni says Achal was very close to Raghubir and her at one point of time. "He would come to Mumbai to stay, we would take him on holidays and provide him with whatever he needed.
Once, he asked us for `80,000 for his birthday party, saying 'Dilli mein toh daaru party chalti hai,' and I was shocked. He's being controlled by his mother," says Roshni.
A former actress herself, Roshni sympathises with her 61-year-old partner's condition, "He's very old, and at this age, to deal with so much is hard. His wife has always been after money and the little that he makes, she wants to get hold of.
" Raghubir is currently doing a Telegu film, and Roshni says it's to sustain the family. "Whatever work comes his way, I encourage him to take on, because it is important to survive.

(less)It feels like a dream: L'il Champs winner
"I am really happy. The feeling is yet to sink in.
All of it seems like a dream. I am going to go home and celebrate the win in a big way," Azmat told IANS on phone from Mumbai.
A Class 2 student of Al-Ameen Public School in Jaipur, Azmat is still learning to read and write. His soulful voice and exemplary singing made him stand apart from rest of the contestants.
For any child of his age, facing a crowd of hundreds could be nerve-wracking but Azmat was undeterred and performed with confidence. "I was never scared singing on the stage.
I used to remember my parents and my god and perform," he said. Among the 18 participants, Azmat was the youngest and always a favourite of the show's judges and mentors, Kailash Kher, Adnan Sami, Javed Ali and Alka Yagnik.
Whether it was a ghazal or a fast Punjabi number, Azmat wowed one and all with his impeccable performances. Azmat also won over many actors' hearts with his cuteness and innocence, whether it was Salman Khan, who offered him help in completing his education, or Shah Rukh Khan, who celebrated Azmat's win by taking him on his shoulder and doing a little jig during the finale.
Azmat has already planned his future. "I want to be a well-known singer, but I have to finish my studies first.
I will continue learning music," said Azmat. Azmat was a part of Javed Ali's team and is all praise for the mentor and his guidance.
"He never scolded me and taught me everything with lots of love. I got to learn a lot from him and I thank him for all his support.
I want to learn a lot more," said Azmat. Tweet

(less)Ranbir Kapoor & stay away from each other: Priyanka Chopra
. There has been news that actress Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor aren't the best of friends anymore.
And the relationship between the two is being termed as 'strained' on the sets of Barfee, a film of which they are a part. When we got in touch with Priyanka Chopra, she simply laughed the rumour off.
She said, "I've had no fight with Ranbir Kapoor. He's a good friend.
It's just the kind of film that Barfee is that makes us want to stay apart. We both have difficult roles in the movie.
I'm autistic and he is deaf and mute. It's not easy to snap in and out of character just like that.
So we need our own space, and we very often stay away from each other and the rest of the cast and crew. Barfee is not like Anjaana Anjaani where you could just let your hair down and have a good time even when in character and off it.

(less)Kate Winslet escapes fire at Branson's island home
Branson said he was staying in another property around 100 yards (meters) away with his wife, Joan and son Sam, 25. He said the fire broke out around 4 a.
m. during a tropical storm with lightning and high winds, and Sam managed to help evacuate Winslet and other guests from the house.
Tropical Storm Irene walloped the Virgin islands and headed towards Puerto Rico late Sunday and early Monday, strengthening into a hurricane Monday with winds of about 80mph (130 kph), according to the U.S.
National Hurricane Center. Branson said the guests, including his 90-year-old mother and his daughter Holly, 29, all managed to get out safely.
"Kate Winslet, her boyfriend and her family were there and Holly and some of her friends were also staying," Branson said. "My mother was there and they managed to get her out and she is fine.
" Winslet's spokeswoman, Sara Keene, confirmed the actress was unharmed. Branson said the house was "completely destroyed" and the fire was not entirely out on Monday.
"My office was based in the house and I have lost thousands of photographs which is very sad," Branson said. He said he planned to rebuild the house "as soon as we can.
" "We'll all stay here for the time being," he said. "There's a lot of damage and we won't be able to stick it back together again right away.
" Virgin said the cause of the fire was still being investigated but lightning was the likely culprit. Branson, 60, bought the island in the early 1980s and began building the Great House in 1982.
He also has developed an exclusive eco-resort on the island showcasing renewable energy technology. Winslet, 35, shot to international stardom with her appearance opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in James Cameron's Titanic, and sealed her reputation with a best actress Academy Award in 2009 for The Reader.

Biswas is married to 67-year Charles Sobhraj, also known as the "bikini killer", in 2008. But later, Mandeep took a back seat and maintained a low profile all through her stay.
Asked about her experience, she told IANS over phone: "The stay was very uncomfortable. I feel so happy and light now.
The persistent fights and the negative vibes made the atmosphere torturous at times." "I wanted to have more fun and add more zing but I couldn't do that.
From the second day itself--I got sick, the chill in the house made it worse day by day. So, it is very difficult to have fun with pain," she added.
Mandeep did try to stay away from controversies and tried to mend differences between the inmates. "I don't like fights, I can't stand them.
I tried my best to make things better and easier but the situation there is just beyond anybody. People are playing several types of 'dirty games' inside.
"Some are trying to be too sweet and back stab and the others are fighting for footage," said Mandeep, who plans to go back to Los Angeles now. Bigg Boss 5 , which started Oct 2, has celebrity participants locked inside an isolated house without any communication with the outside world.

(less)Sobhraj's wife to show world who's the Bigg Boss
Bigg Boss 5 is the upcoming edition of Colors TV's controversial reality show to be co-hosted by Bollywood mega stars Sunjay Dutt and Salman Khan. Though Colors planned to reveal the names of the show's contestants in a special programme Oct 2, the cat was out of the bag in Kathmandu after immigration authorities recognised Nihita.
The bright-eyed journalist student became a well-known name in Nepal and beyond after claiming to have married Sobhraj, 46 years her senior, inside Kathmandu's Central Jail. The fame turned to notoriety last year when she was convicted for contempt of court and spent a night in police custody after challenging the Supreme Court's decision to sentence Sobhraj to life for murder.
Nihita's family sources said that despite her earlier quick temper, that last year made her hurl abuses at the two judges hearing Sobhraj's case inside court premises, she stands a good chance of lasting the 98 days' trial on television as she has now learnt to control herself. Her appearance on Bigg Boss is also bound to revive flagging interest in Sobhraj, who has been in prison in Nepal for eight years and is likely to stay there for at least a decade more after three courts found him guilty of the murder of an American tourist, Connie Jo Bronzich, in 1975.
While Nihita was initially reluctant to leave, feeling she was abandoning Sobhraj, he is said to have urged her to go, saying he would keep himself busy with a new review petition that he filed Tuesday. Tuesday's mandamus is directed against Nepal's President, Ram Baran Yadav, parliament chairman Subash Nembang and the 601 members of parliament, asking them to obey the directives of the Human Rights Committee in Geneva.
The Committee has said that there was a miscarriage of justice in Sobhraj's case in Nepal with the prosecution putting the burden of proof on the defendant and applying laws that did not exist at the time of the crime. It also noted that Sobhraj had not been provided either an interpreter or case documents translated into languages known to him, which violated his basic rights.
Soon after the committee's views, Sobhraj's firebrand French lawyer Isabelle Coutant Peyre filed a case against Nepal's government, asking for compensation to the tune of 6 million euro for illegal arrest and detention. The mandamus petition was initially rejected by the court on the ground that it was in English and not Nepali.
On Tuesday, the 66-year-old finally managed to get it translated into Nepali and submit it through the jailer. While he is trying to drum up support for his release through international organisations like Amnesty International and the International Committee of Jurists, Sobhraj is also seeking to establish closer contact with Bollywood in the hope of a series of biopics on his life and career in crime spanning several countries in Asia and Europe.
Sobhraj is said to be keen to open negotiations with either Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Sunjay Dutt and Dutt's presence on Big Boss and subsequent interactions with Nihita could take him a step closer to his desire. As for Nihita, the chance to feature in an Indian television reality show is a god-send for her.
After an impulsive visit to the prison in 2008 to see if Sobhraj needed an interpreter and then falling in love with him despite his chequered record, she has suffered vilification in Nepal while her mother Shakuntala Thapa, who was also Sobhraj's lawyer, saw her legal career sag and the education consultancy they ran close down. (less)Gulabo Sapera's Bigg Boss journey ends
Gulabo, who stuck to her traditional ghaghra choli attire and jewellery mostly through the show, didn't open up much. She maintained a calm demeanour, and stayed away from the fights.
Afghan beauty Vida Samadzai and actress Pooja Bedi seemed upset with her eviction. But, dressed in a yellow outfit, Gulabo came out with a cheerful face.
During her stay, she also imparted some of her dancing talent to the other female participants, and even delighted viewers with her impeccable Kalbeliya moves. Bigg Boss 5 , which started Oct 2, has celebrity participants locked inside an isolated house, without any communication with the outside world.

(less)Neil Nitin on India?s most desirable | Bollywood News and Gossip
?I wish I was single at that point or I could have been swayed to another level all together,? he said. Currently single, Neil shares some memorable moments of his former relationship on the show.
?I was with this girl for six years and it was a love story at a very young age. I think life is not about regrets.
We make our decisions and we know we have to live by them. I don?t know how much of it you want to believe but this is a decision that both of us made.
And, we?re still friends, we have no regrets.? Neil confesses that for him it is important that the girl understands his wish to stay with his family.
?It goes without saying that I would want my wife to live with me as a joint family. You see our parents have brought us up and have really looked after us when we were kids.
I can?t abandon them. I can?t leave them.
They are my babies. They are my people.
My love first is for them and then any other woman. So I?ll expect her to come here.
? But his parents seem to have different opinions. Where Neil?s mother thinks that it will be best if they live by themselves, his father, Nitin Mukesh, begs to differ.
?I feel that I brought them into this world, I lived with my parents blissfully, happily then why can?t they make a go at it. There were many occasions that I had to tell his wonderful young girlfriends that ?if you ever try to take Neil away from his family you will lose him? but nobody took me seriously.

(less)I am a very happy person: Kalki
"I wrote it in dialogue form like one does for theatre, and Anurag changed it to the cinematic format," says Kalki, still basking in the success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara . The film, releasing tomorrow, is the moving story of a an illegal British immigrant who comes to India in search of her father.
Desperation drives her to work at a massage parlour. Anurag says he drew inspiration from real-life stories and picked up many situations from newspaper reports.
"The film is about exploitation, child abuse and incest. I wanted to break the formula many directors and actors find themselves in.
The film has been screened at two of the biggest festivals - Venice and Toronto - and has generated tremendous response," he says. Presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures' youth studio Tipping Point Films, That Girl in Yellow Boots has many characters loosely based on figures that Kalki came across while growing up in India.
"It's a very intense film. My character is stubborn and unsociable," says Kalki, who cut herself off from people during the making to stay in the mood of the character.
"I stopped talking completely. I would wear headphones and listen to heavy metal and rock all day long during the shoot.
It was tough because I am a very happy person," she laughs. The film was shot within 13 days and was primarily framed in tight spaces like apartments, narrow bylanes, massage parlours, local trains and rickshaws, leading to a sense of claustrophobia and unease through the film.
Besides That Girl in Yellow Boots, a strong association between Tipping Point Films and the avant-garde Anurag Kashyap can be seen in the forthcoming film Michael, starring Naseeruddin Shah, which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. There's also the much awaited epic Gangs of Wasseypur

" The 47-year-old actress recently revealed she and David - who have a seven-year-old daughter, Coco, together - had become "closer than ever" since their split. She said: "The great thing is that even though we are separated, David and I are still so close.

(less)Shradha embarrassed me: Shakti Kapoor
But, now that he has been evicted, Shakti feels that he is more at peace with himself; and he has "learnt tremendous amount of patience!" We caught him in a sentimental mood..
. 'I am a gentleman!' It was interesting to see Shakti all clammed up and steering clear of all kinds of confrontations, when 13 women around him were going berserk literally, many of them screaming, fighting like wildcats, hurling abuses at will.
Ask him why did he chicken out, and he replies: "I am not a chicken! Yes, I refused to scream or fight like fisherwomen because I am a gentleman! But, finally it was heartening to see that women there saw their father or brother in me, and many of them wept when I was evicted! That was more than enough!" Paying the price Shakti admits that his "calm and composed behaviour" worked against him. "Things in the celebrity house are getting dirtier and nastier by the day! Those, who do a lot of badtameezi without any rhyme or reason, have become heroes," says he.
But, wasn't he disappointed when his "friend of 20 years - Pooja Bedi" - called him "a spineless fellow" and "not fit to be called a man?" There's sadness in Shakti's voice, as he says: "There are no friends in Bigg Boss' house! And Pooja must have called me names because she was desperate to stay in the show and wanted to create a bigger controversy!" Shradha embarrassed me!' If Pooja Bedi went hammer and tongs against him, item gal Shradha Sharma openly made eyes at him and flirted outrageously with Shakti. Ask him, how did he feel getting that kind of adulation, and he replies: "Frankly, I was embarrassed! Woh meri cost pe footage kha rahi thi.
But, I will still pray that her dreams in life come true!" 'Family loves me' The actor says that he is actually happy to be out of the celebrity house because he was feeling increasingly isolated there. "I used to walk to release my tension, and one night I walked 34 kms.
So, you can imagine my plight! But, I was thrilled when my daughter woke up in the wee hours to welcome me at home and said 'I want you as my dad in all the janams!' My wife Shivangi told me that she loves me more than ever now! So, I am really blessed and feeling rejuvenated," says he

She walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of white roses with her hair up and her veil off her face. The wedding ceremony reportedly lasted half an hour and saw Kim and Kris - dressed in an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo with a white jacket and tie - exchange wedding rings made by Lorraine Schwartz, the same designer behind Kim's engagement ring.
During the traditional Christian service, officiated by pastor Joel Johnson, tributes were paid to Kris' late grandmother and grandfather, as well as to Kim's late father, lawyer Robert Kardashian. Kim told the crowd: "I so wish my dad could be here today to walk me down the aisle.
But I know in a way he is here, and I feel his loving presence all around me. I love and miss you, dad.
" The 30-year-old bride's sisters Khloe and Kourtney were maids of honour, and Kourtney's son Mason acted as ring bearer. Her mother, Kris Jenner, had earlier in the day helped Kim prepare for the wedding and also wore a white Vera Wang dress to the ceremony.

You are truly blessed. I love you with all my heart, Mommy xo (sic).

According to sources, the Colombian singer, who became a household name post her 2010 FIFA World Cup official theme song Waka Waka , will perform at a private function at DLF Golf Course in Gurgaon next week. Shakira will be here on November 14. The celebrations will kick-off in Jaipur with a performance by Adnan Sami.
Singh will also release a book written by him at DLF Promenade Mall." The Latin-American sensation, who began writing songs at the age of eight and learnt English by studying the works of the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Walt Whitman, has sold over 60 million albums so far.
Apart from writing songs, she has also collaborated with artistes such as Beyonce and Alejandro Sanz. Shakira's performance was the highlight of the 2009 concert that celebrated US President Barack Obama's inauguration.
Shakira's Waka Waka sold over two million singles and became the most popular World Cup song so far. The official video received more than 200 million hits on YouTube, thus becoming the fourth-most watched video of all times.

(less)'Delhi became Lahore ’coz of safety concerns in Pakistan'
He surprised us by saying that contrary to what's been reported, the film was not shot in Lahore (where the story is based) and was recreated in Delhi, not because the crew didn't get permission, but because there were concerns with the crew's safety in Pakistan. Was it clear from the beginning that Lahore would be recreated in Delhi, as the team couldn't get permissions to shoot in Lahore? I don't think there were any permission issues.
Because it's an international film with an international cast, films like these have an insurance bond, and it was impossible to get that kind of insurance bond to take these stars to Lahore. There were concerns about their safety there.
Mira met me twice in Lahore in the last two years, and she spent a couple of weeks there, discovering what all she wanted to shoot and where. And then, the governor of Pakistan's Punjab province, Salman Taseer, was assassinated.
He was a family friend and had promised to support us, but after his death, the whole atmosphere changed. No one felt sure about taking the production to Lahore.
The government was not the problem. How much is Lahore a part of it now? Very much.
Mira has come to Lahore looking for music, Pakistani fashion..
. we went to meet contemporary Lahori artistes.
Even on the sets in Delhi, she'd often ask, "Is this guy looking like a chhalli (bhutta) wala in Lahore?" She's very keen to infuse Pakistan and Lahore in the film. How much are you involved in the making of the film? People often overestimate how much control a novelist has, and it can be very painful and frightening for a novelist to have control over a project like this.
So, early on only, I decided to just stay apart and enjoy the project. I'm like a father and the novel is like my child, who I've handed over to the boarding school.
I can now only sit back and hope that the school is good to my child and he/she grows up to be happy. When did you first give over the rights? I was approached by a few directors immediately after the novel was printed.
Mira was in London , and she took me and my wife out for lunch. Obviously, since "Salaam Bombay", I was aware of her work and I thought she was an enormously talented filmmaker.
I felt a great degree of comfort in handing over the project. I have not regretted that.
She has been very inclusive of me..
. I'd thought that the best thing to do and the easiest emotionally, was to not see it being made.
But that was probably not meant to be. Two years ago, Mira came and said that she was finding it difficult to get a screenwriter to adapt this.
She said those who get the desi context don't get the New York corporate bit, and vice versa. She asked me to draft a first copy of the screenplay.
Was this your first time in Delhi? I've been to India several times. But this is the first time that I spent several weeks in Delhi.
We went exploring the cafes, nightlife, restaurants, etc in Delhi, and it has become a much more international and interesting city in the last several years. Through Mira and the film, and the locations, I got to see places like the Delhi University campus, the Anglo Arabic school at Ajmeri Gate, Ritz Cinema in Kashmere Gate, the Old Delhi Railway Station - I got to soak up a bit of the older parts of Delhi that I wouldn't have done otherwise.
Also, these three weeks were extra special because my family was also here. My wife Zara, my parents, my daughter, my wife's parents, my sister-in-law, too.
..
there were 11 of us here, and we rented a flat. It was the first time in Delhi for a lot of them and I think they left thinking that we are only a 45-minute flight away from Lahore, yet it feels like you're travelling to another planet
"For my role in Phhir I meditated..
. my mother is a yoga teacher, she taught me meditation," she said.
Directed by Girish Dhamika, the film releases on August 12. Tweet

(less)Shakira wants to explore Indian classical music
The two have planned to collaborate on an album of Indian classical ragas and hip-hop, which would spotlight the sounds of the East and the West without resorting to clichs of fusion music. Adnan Sami said, "I found Shakira to be a global musician.
Maybe it was the atmosphere in Udaipur. As we were being taken by small boats to the palace, there were individual floats dotting the lake, each one containing musicians representing one or the other aspect of global music.
" He added, "We did discuss a lot of ideas. But it is too early to talk about it now.
All I can say is, Shakira is definitely coming back to India." Adnan was also struck by the crooner's interest in Indian music.
He said, "She wasn't just interested in the sound of a raga or a geet or a dhun . She wants to explore the roots of Indian classical music.
We are less curious about Indian music than the Westerners. The Beatles' interest in our Hindustani musical heritage was quite profound.
Likewise, Shakira doesn't only want to learn Hindustani music. She also wants to know its origin.

(less)Viveik Oberoi says i’ve got a nice smile: Tanvi Vyas
"All those who have seen the film till now have heaped praise on it, which makes me feel very optimistic about the box-office outcome. While it is a love story, there are quite a few twists and turns and the fact that all the characters have grey shades to them makes it a very interesting film indeed.
Once this film releases, I think it will make a huge difference to my career and I will sign new projects only after that. I have been in talks with a few producers and directors, both down South and in Mumbai, but it will take a while for something substantial to materialize," says Tanvi, who did Gujarat proud by winning the Femina Miss India Earth crown in 2008.
Talking of her immediate goals, she shares, "Focusing solely on my career is on top of my wish list this year. Besides, I am this huge travel buff and would like to explore a lot of new places this year.
Last year, all I could manage was a Dubai trip. While people invest in property and all, I am the kind of person who will probably spend whatever I earn on travel!" Tanvi, who flew down to Vadodara for a few days on New Year's Eve to celebrate the occasion with her parents, says that she had a refreshing time at home, "It was after three months that I had come to Vadodara.
I just wanted to lie down in my room and soak in the feeling of being in my own home, rather than going out and meeting people. In Mumbai, most people just buy club passes and party till late.
I didn't want to do that." Recently, she did a print ad, where she worked with Viveik Oberoi .
Talking of the experience, she shares, "I had met Viveik once at the Mumbai airport while I was in school. When I told him about the incident, he instantly remembered it.
While shooting, he shared his entire love story with me and told me a lot of lovely things about his wife. He also complimented me, saying that the mole on my lips makes me look very pretty when I smile.
I also loved meeting Suresh Oberoi, who is very humble and an amazing human being." So is she enjoying her stay in Mumbai? "Well, it has been about six months since I shifted and it takes a while to get used to the pace of life here.
Thankfully, most of my classmates from my M S University Fine Arts days are in Mumbai and they have been a great source of support. But for them, I might have run back to Vadodara in the initial days.
Professionally, it's a good city to be in but when it comes to quality of life, very few cities can match Vadodara," she signs off. We certainly agree on that, what say?
(less)Mark Wahlberg's art obsession
"I gotta stop collecting art. I bought a piece by Marc Chagall [the Russian-French artist] recently and my wife wanted to kill me.
She said it looked like my daughter had painted it," Wahlberg said. The actor also said his wife had put a stop on his long preparation time for movies.
"I love preparation. I do whatever the director wants me to do, but I no longer have the luxury to go some place three weeks early and rent a place and go to places I think my character might go to.
My wife would be like, 'Are you out of your mind' But I certainly do what I have to do to prepare, whether it be physically or mentally." Tweet

(less)Mel Gibson to pay $750,000 in custody settlement
08.11) - attended by the former couple - all the details were finalised by Judge Peter Lichtman.
Oksana and Lucia will stay at the house they are currently living in - which was bought by Mel - and the 55-year-old actor can visit his daughter at the property at any time as long as a designated person is with him. When Lucia turns 18 the home will be sold and all proceeds will go to her.
The $750,000 lump sum will be made in three payments to the 41-year-old beauty and Lucia will also receive the same child maintenance payments that Mel pays his ex-wife Robyn Moore for the care of their children together. Judge Lichtman also ruled that Mel and Oksana - who split in June 2010 - cannot speak or write about their turbulent relationship and if Oksana releases any of the audio recordings she has of the 'Lethal Weapon' star allegedly verbally and physically assaulting her she will forfeit the $750,000 payment.
Earlier this year, the actor agreed to plead no contest to simple battery relating to an argument he had with Oksana in January 2010, a lesser charge than corporal injury on a spouse which he was originally facing. Tweet

Mandeep Bevli out of Bigg Boss 5
She was nominated for elimination along with Pooja Missra, Amar Upadhyay and Mahek Chahal. The news anchor took a plunge on Nihita Biswas' sex life on the first day itself.

(less)No one is irreplaceable: Arjun Rampal
In candid conversation with zoOm From supermodel to superstardom, Arjun Rampal has come a long way. Formerly considered a 'wooden actor' by critics, he now boasts of a National Award on his mantle.
In a heart-to-heart talk with zoOm, Arjun breaks silence on the constantly changing leads in Heroine, the rumours of his fallout with SRK and the hysteria around going west! Read on..
. When do we see the face of RA.
One? I made a conscious effort to stay away from promotions. G.
One (SRK's character) is a new sort of superhero for Indian audience. So we're focusing on getting people accustomed to that.
The lead of Heroine has been such a talked-about issue. How have you coped? It's a great time in Ash's life.
I wish her and Abhishek all the luck. But having said that, no one is irreplaceable.
It's a brilliant role and I'm sure whoever will be part of it, will do justice to it. Was your National Award the final answer to critics who said you were "wooden"? It's not just the National Award that proved anything.
Yes, it was the biggest honour I received in my career but I think critics don't say what they say out of spite. You have to take it with a pinch of salt.
How do you react to reports of your tiff with SRK. Do you guys talk about it? Yeah, we're like husband and wife, it seems.
Ha, ha..
. we actually never bring it up.
We just think ki chalo, RA.One ko toh publicity mil rahi hai! You've not been linked-up too often.
..
I'm a genius cover-up! Ha, ha! You have an international look. Hollywood offers should come easy.
..
All these things are overrated. It's profitable to act in Hollywood films because English is a universal language, but I think we'll soon see actors from there coming to Bollywood, as well.
It's going to be an exchange of talent soon. Do you have a 'no-kissing' clause? I try to avoid it as much as I can, but then again, I'm a man who never says never.
The truth is, we make a big deal out of it. Kissing and intimate scenes are all natural things.
We come from the land of Khajuraho. To watch the complete interview, tune in to 'B Tonite' on Friday, Sept 16th, at 10 pm only on zoOm - India's No 1 Bollywood channel
