Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.

Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

John Abraham refuses to return to 'Force'?
However, a source informed Mumbai Mirror that John had expressed his apprehensions about working in the film's sequel. According to the source, John was not pleased with the passive role that co-producer Fox Star Studios took, when it came to promoting Force.
The source explained, "John does not want to be a part of the sequel, since he fears that this too might not be promoted sufficiently." This has apparently come as a major surprise to many in the industry, as Fox Star Studios had generated much hype when they announced the sequel.
"The filmmakers were very enthusiastic about starting work on the film's sequel, since Force received a decent response at the box-office. Also, there is no apparent animosity between John and the filmmakers Kamat and Vipul.
In fact, they worked very well together. John shares a wonderful relationship with Vipul.
But he is very sceptical about going ahead with the producer's next home production," added the source. While Vijay Singh, Fox Star Studios CEO and John remained unavailable for comment, producer of Force, Vipul Shah said, "This is news to me.
I will surely ask John. Force is his biggest solo hit and so, it is very important that we continue the brand.
If there is any issue, I would want to resolve it as soon as possible."

150 crore ($30 million) project that boasts of world class VFX, mindblowing graphics and his own presence. Billed as a technological masterpiece, it will be unleashed on about 3,500 screens across the globe on Diwali Wednesday.

Many feel that sometimes filmmakers use inflated budget to promote films, but sci-films usually cost a lot. For instance, James Cameron's Avatar was made at a budget of Rs.

Since the conceptualisation stage, the film has been in the news and the buzz heightened once the Bollywood Badshah unleashed the mega marketing campaign by unveiling the first look with a newspaper front page ad Jan 1. The next giant step was to air its first trailer during the World Cup and later came tie-ups with Champions League T20, UTV Indiagames for online games and iPhone/iPad application for fans, Sony Playstation for video games, Google Plus and Seventymm, a leading DVD rental company for merchandising, as well as with Homeshop18 to sell superhero film merchandise and Youtube, which has a dedicated Ra.

In short, it has been Shah Rukh all the way. Trade analyst Vinod Mirani describes the promotional activity as an "exercise to give the film a good opening and use the media to make it a hit".
"Usually promotion activity is all about giving a film a good opening and SRK is also doing this. That is the reason he has roped in Amitabh Bachhcan to do the voiceover and Rajinikanth for the cameo.
But he is promoting more of himself than his film. But I feel it will get a good opening since SRK is involved," he told IANS.
Anubhav Sinha has directed the film and Shah Rukh says his character is over the top in the film as he has donned a huge wig to play a nerdy programmer who wants to impress his son by creating a game. But things go out of hand when the game's villain escapes into the real world.

There has been some help from abroad, especially from the people living in the Gulf region. No one from the Malayalam film industry has contacted me or offered support.
There has been no support from the government either," said Ahmed, whose film was screened at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival. Adaminte Makan Abu is one of the 63 films in the run for a nomination in the Best Foreign Language film category for the 84th Annual Academy Awards to be held in February next year.

While I'm not aware of the exact price that the rights have been sold for; I'm told it is an astounding figure.'' The fact that Agneepath is a part of the Dharma bouquet and has actors like Hrithik, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra in it is enough to give the trade and the general public an adrenaline rush. 2011 has been an exciting year at the movies; 2012, too, starts with a promise.

The documentary titled Trapped by Tradition sees Kapoor going to Bharatpur, a small district in Rajasthan, meeting the villagers and trying to know how girls and women are sold into the sex trade. Talking to PTI in an interview, Kapoor said, "There are two scripts, one from an international director and the other from an Indian that I have come across.
The human trafficking issue will be in the backdrop. I would be interested and love to be part of such a film as an actor.
" "But I feel it should be made as a mainstream film like there should be a leading director and actor so that it will reach out to more audiences. Also, it would make it more understandable and watchable for the masses.
And this would make a difference if a known face is attached to it," he said. The actor has been associated with this issue for several years and feels if such a film project comes up then it would make a difference in the society.
"I am waiting for a proper script. Though I was thrown away with the research done by the writer and director.

(less)'DAM 999' director seeks police protection
The film, released last month, was banned in Tamil Nadu for supposedly taking a pro-Kerala stand in the Mullaperiyar dam row. Roy had approached the apex court to lift the ban.
"The hearing of the plea to lift the ban on the movie has been rescheduled for Dec 12. The hearing is scheduled to be held in the Office of Principal Secretary Home, Prohibition and Excise Department, Chennai," said Roy.
"Dam 999", a $10 million film, deals with the miseries of people following the collapse of a dam. Its critics say it tries to portray the dispute over the century-old Mullaperiyar Dam, which is situated in Kerala and supplies water to Tamil Nadu

(less)John Abraham refuses to return to 'Force'?
(less)Adaminte Makan Abu can get us Oscar, says Director
Ahmed, who left his day job as a travel agent to direct the movie about a poor perfume seller's struggle to go to Haj, however, says that he has not been able to get any help either from the Malayalam film industry or the government. "We will begin lobbying for the film next week.
The director says that while working as a travel agent he experienced the struggle of people going to Mecca and was inspired to document it in a movie. The movie, written, directed and co-produced by Ahmed, is a family drama starring Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab.
Kumar and Wahab sell all their belongings but are not able to collect enough money for Haj. Abu (Kumar) even cuts off the tree in front of his house.
Later, he regrets his selfish act and plants a sapling and prays at a mosque on the Haj morning. Bollywood, which has been looking to South to reproduce good stories, is interested in remaking the film in Hindi, Ahmed said without revealing names.
The director said his next film would be an historical drama. Tweet
(less)Gas tragedy film on the right track
He says it was relatively easy to convince the renowned actors to be part of the project since they responded well to this universal theme. Kumar shot with Sheen, Barton, Indian actress Tannishtha Chatterjee and several others at that time, and since he had to re-create the 1984 period of Bhopal, he shot the film in Hyderabad and Mumbai on sets and factory locations, and only a few critical scenes were shot in Bhopal.
The "life-changing" experience was like a roller coaster ride for the director, who says that three years after the first shot, he is finally reaching the "end of this long journey". He told us recently, "We have been invited to some major film festivals where it will be premiered.
The release dates will be decided by the distributor all over the world according to their plans." However, after the shoot, the director had come under attack from some local NGOs, which claimed that the movie was misrepresenting reality.
But ask him about it now, and he says, "For us, there are no issues. The script that they objected to, is not relevant as it was an older version.
You have to remember, 95 per cent of the film, crew and cast is Indian, our producer Ravi Walia is Indian..
. hundreds of them came on board as they believed in the script.
Anyone who has seen the rough edit is proud to be associated with this epic and moving story made by Indians." As far as the delay in the release is concerned (from 2010 to tentatively 2012), he says, "The film has been edited carefully, some scenes re-shot, as this is a historical document and people expect the story to be authentic and genuine.
It's been worthwhile fine-tuning the story as this kind of films have a long shelf life. " Right now, the film is with some very senior editors, and music composers from London and LA are working on it, says Kumar.
While he does admit that the whole journey of making the movie has been difficult, he adds, "This is not a commercial project, but I'm glad to say that the finished film feels more suited for mainstream audience worldwide, thanks to the universal theme and the US actors playing crucial roles."

Over a week after its worldwide release, multiplexes and cinema halls across Uttar Pradesh started screening Aarakshan Aug 20 - a day after the Supreme Court lifted the state government's ban on the movie.
Citing law and order problems, the Mayawati government Aug 10 banned the screening of Aarakshan that deals with the sensitive issue of reservation in education system. (less)lyricist Irshad Kamil's upset with Imiaz Ali
The lyricist has not been given credit on the cover of the audio CD, which was launched last month, at Nizamuddin Dargah. Kamil's name has been left out on the album cover and on the inner pages.
Instead, the audio CD has given prominent credit to poet Rumi, whose poem was sung by Ranbir. A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Irshad is very upset about the fact that his name is not mentioned anywhere on the music album.
He has written tracks for all of Imtiaz Ali's previous films - Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. It was Sandesh Shandilya, music director of Socha Na Tha, who had introduced Irshad to Imtiaz.
" When contacted, Imtiaz said, "It is just a clerical error and sometimes it happens when things are not in our hands. Irshad is my only friend, who has been there with me from the start.
In the next lot of the audio CDs, we are going to rectify this mistake." T-Series owns the music rights of the film.
When the company's head honcho, Bhushan Kumar was questioned about the missing credit on the album cover, he told us, "This is the fault of the producer, who needed to look at the cover. The album covers are made by the publicity designer and he must have forgotten about it.
Also, we don't have the control to change it. The same mistake happened during Mausam, but I saw it and immediately got it rectified.
" With regard to rectifying the error on the second lot of Rockstar audio CDs, Kumar said, "The second lot has not yet come to us." Kamil, however, is not the only one who has had to face such a situation.
In the past, music composer, Sagar Desai, filed a case in the Delhi High Court against Sony Music, Fox Star Studios and Phat Phish for not accrediting him as the original music composer of the film Quick Gun Murugan in the CDs, posters, theatrical prints and website. Irshad Kamil, who currently in Greece , was unavailable for comment

Kareena plays an actress who touches the heights of fame and then falls from glory.
Asked about his role, Arjun said: "It's going to be a Madhur Bhandarkar film which deals with a lot of layers of reality and that's what I enjoy doing. I like all my characters to have a certain level of realism.
I hope to portray it with conviction and not in a caricaturist manner." Arjun debuted in Bollywood with 2001 movie "Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat" but had to wait for a long time to find a firm foothold.
He was first appreciated for his role in "Don - The Chase Begins" (2006) and then people liked him in the negative role in "Om Shanti Om". But he came into his own as a brooding musician in "Rock On!!" and continued it with "Raajneeti".

And since the producers of the remake weren't given the rights to make a sequel, Nariman Films has sent them a legal notice and is suing them for copyright infringement. The producers at Nariman Films say, "We have raised our objection through our advocates Digvijay Chopra and Iva Bansal.
" Confirming that a legal notice has been sent to Excel Entertainment, Red Chillies Entertainment, Reliance Entertainment, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Shah Rukh Khan and Baba Arts, Digvijay Chopra states: "The remake rights were given only for the film Don: The Chase Begins Again , starring Shah Rukh Khan, by an agreement, which expired in 2009. Thereafter, they never renewed it or even take any prospective rights from Nariman films.
" While Baba Arts was not involved in the production, the advocates point out they had originally acquired the rights, which were then sold to Excel Entertainment for Rs 1.25 crore in 2005, with the knowledge of Nariman Films.
Further Iva Bansal explains that without any renewal of the remake rights, Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies Entertainment have gone ahead and made Don 2 . "Not only have they infringed upon the title registered by Nariman Films, i.
e. Don and Don 2: Return Of The King , which in this matter, is a second infringement.
The first infringement is Don 2 , made without taking the necessary rights as per the law," she states. Bansal also explains that the title Don 2 has been copyrighted in the name of Nariman Films in January 2005.
"Reliance Entertainment has taken the distribution rights without any No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Nariman Films who hold the negatives of the original film Don . We shall also legally proceed with Paramount Films as we are informed that they are the overseas distributors," she maintained.
When asked why Nariman Films didn't initiate any action against the makers of Don 2: The Chase Continues , before or during filming, the advocates elaborated: "The reason is because all the production houses and senior and influential members of the film industry made the partners of Nariman films believe by way of undue influence and fraud that they (Nariman Films) have sold all their rights for their original film Don and are in no position to proceed legally to vindicate their right for the Amitabh Bachchan starrer, and even sent a legal notice to Nariman Films to confirm the same." However, Nariman Films has now come to know from various sources that the advocates they first consulted are on the legal panel of the opposite party.
Now the original producers have approached another law firm and have learnt that the case of infringement, undue influence and fraud, is clearly evident in this case. "And after learning the same they have taken legal action," summed up the advocates for Nariman Films.
Chopra and Bansal reiterated that they will be taking legal action against the makers of Don 2: The Chase Continues at the High Court as well as criminal courts for necessary relief. (less)Ajay Devgn & Kumar Mangat at loggerheads
Rumour has it that Devgn and Mangat had a spat over Vishal Bhardwaj's film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola recently. Devgn was miffed with his friend Mangat when the latter held meetings with Fox Star Studios, the co-producers of the film in question without informing the actor.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "It was a misunderstanding between friends. One person (Mangat) took his friend (Devgn) for granted.
The friend, in turn, felt that his personal space has been invaded. Maybe, outsiders fuelled the fight.
" According to sources, it started when Devgn agreed to do the film and Mangat got a bit carried away. A source close to Devgn and Mangat informed, "Mangat began discussing the project on an individual level with the co-producers.
Devgn was not amused. He felt that Mangat should not have ventured into further talks with Fox Star Studios without keeping Devgn in the loop about each and every minute detail.
" While Devgn getting angry with his friend over space issues might have been justified, Mangat too had his reasons. "To be fair to Mangat, he did not imagine in his wildest dreams that Ajay will back out from the film.
Also Mangat is after all, the co-producer for the project," added the source. Devgn opted out of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola since he was lured by the money Viacom 18 Motion Pictures offered him for Ashwini Dhir's Son Of Sardar (Mumbai Mirror, October 15, 2011).
Hoping that the misunderstanding between the two long standing friends in Bollywod gets sorted out, the source added, "Let's hope it gets resolved. Ajay Devgn and Kumar Mangat go back a long way.
They have always been there for each other." Ajay Devgn and Kumar Mangat have known each other for the last 20 years.
For the last 18 years Mangat has successfully managed Devgn's career. In 1996, Devgn started a film distribution outfit, Devgan Entertainment & Software Ltd.
with Mangat as the CEO. Mangat soon went on to become an independent producer with Ajay playing the lead role in most of his ventures - Omkatra, Sunday, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Toonpur Ka Superrhero.
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola now stars Imran Khan in the lead (Mumbai Mirror, October 25, 2011 ). After Devgn walked out from the project, Bhardwaj had approached Shahid Kapoor who politely declined the offer, citing date issues (Mumbai Mirror, October 20, 2011).
While Devgn and Mangat chose not to comment, Devgn's official spokesperson said, "The rumours of a tiff between Ajay Devgn and Kumar Mangat are baseless and untrue. Mangat has worked with Devgn as his business manager for more than 20 years; he has established his brilliance as a reputed producer as well.
Their working partnership is based on trust and respect. They always ask each other advice and guidance for every project.

(less)Adaminte Makan Abu gets a makeover for the Oscars
The movie, which won four major National Awards this year, was seen to be strong in content but weak in technique. A source said, "We felt Adaminte Makan Abu has strong chances of getting the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
The story of an old Muslim couple struggling to make the Haj pilgrimage, has a universal resonance. Year after year we keep missing out on the Oscar shortlist because our entries lag behind technically.
So we felt the need to enhance the technical quality of the film substantially." The film was made on a shoestring budget.
So short is the project of funds that apparently there is no money to promote the film at the Oscars, let alone upgrade the product technically. Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty who is working on the project currently, said, "I am re-designing and re-mixing the sound for the film, so it would stand a better chance of making it into the final list after the Oscar submission.

Issar, who returns to direction seven years after "Garv", has based it on real stories, facts, dates and figures. "Sikhs are living in the US since 1897, and post the 9/11 attack they were beaten up as they were taken for Arabs, Afghanis or Muslims.
Doesn't this sound weird? I mean they are living in America for 114 years and then they get beaten up. This is what motivated me to make this film, to show a true picture of the situation ," he said.
"My film focuses on the problems faced by the Sikhs, something which no other films has done so far. For example, 'My Name Is Khan' is a take on life post-9/11 but with a Muslim angle," he added.

(less)Ali Zafar in London, Paris, New York
The film is a romantic comedy and it's a story about a couple who fall in love while visiting three of the most romantic places on earth; London, Paris and New York. "The story is very fresh.
We have tried our level best to make it as realistic as possible. It deals in different emotions that people experience when they're in love.
It is believable because it also talks about the pain and suffering of heartbreak," said Goldie. The title is simple and says a lot about the movie.
When asked about its significance, Ali Zafar said, "The title is an integral part of the film. It provides a backdrop to the love story and helps in portraying the characters' journey of love.
It's all very natural and realistic. The movie is about Nikhil and Lalitha, two very different people who fall in love.
" The music of the movie has been composed by Ali Zafar himself. In fact both the stars, Ali and Aditi, sing well and have sung in the film.
The movie has some intimate scenes between the two actors. But, according to Aditi, it is very different from the usual bollywood movies.
"The scenes are very organic in nature. They are there because without them the story would feel incomplete.
We have not forced sex scenes anywhere just because it is believed that sex sells. The scenes are beautiful and are lovely to watch," says Aditi.

(less)Punjab lifts ban on Aarakshan
The film's shows are expected to start in theatres Sunday evening or Monday morning, industry sources said. A high-level committee set up to preview the movie Friday recommended revocation of the ban in the state if the film producer agreed to make certain changes.
The committee said the film contained some dialogues and scenes which could provoke the emotions of certain communities, especially those from the weaker sections of society. "This may prove to be a disturbing factor in society, especially in Punjab where more than 31 percent of the 2.
77 crore population belongs to the weaker sections, including the Scheduled Castes," the panel said. The committee even listed the positive aspects of the film.
"The committee felt that the movie has depicted the educational backwardness of the Dalits, which can be addressed in a positive manner and the same is well brought out," its report said. "The movie focuses on the bane of commercialisation of education.
It has clearly brought out the message that the educational system needs to be improved for the uplift of the Dalits." A committee spokesman said: "Since the overall message of the movie is positive, the committee feels that the movie may be released in Punjab after making the amendments as suggested.
" The panel was headed by Punjab's secretary-home Samir Kumar and included four other members. The state government imposed a ban on the film Thursday following intelligence reports that it could lead to social disturbance.
