B-town's virtual victims
But the major cause of concern of B-Towners is that these imposters are causing trouble in their (celebs') professional lives, let alone their personal ones. Neil Nitin Mukesh was a victim who fell into Loveleen's imposters' trap.
There are several other not so well known people who get lured by the offers made by the impersonators. The one who eventually faces the flak is the celeb when he is flooded with phone calls, messages and questions.
So was the case with actor Arjun Rampal and wife Mehr Jessia in June this year. An imposter had been calling up female models and offering them jobs at the Rampals' company (a company the faker called "new").
The imposter went on to state Arjun's company wanted to step into the fashion industry by launching a "new signature line" of garments. After being harassed by those who were duped, Arjun officially clarified his stand,"If we have jobs to offer, we will contact the concerned parties officially.
As of now, we have alerted our friends and colleagues. This impostor has also contacted some of our industry friends and asked for favours posing as our staff member.
" Earlier this month, it was Anil Kapoor's turn to face the 'fakers'. The actor was being impersonated on a microblogging site.
The faker had put up a picture of the star along with his daughter's – Sonam. The imposter would keep sending friend requests to well-known industry folks in a bid to access their profiles.
Katrina Kaif was also bugged by endless phone calls about her profiles put up on various microblogging sites. To her surprise, a famous director called her asking feedback about the script which he claimed to have discussed with her on one of these sites and another from a studio head about a project which again was discussed virtually.
Katrina had to finally clarify that she does not use any networking sites to discuss work. Actor Riteish Deshmukh too was left red-faced when he realised he was following director Anurag Kashyap's faker and been conversing with him as well.
The imposter would talk about Anurag's films in an effort to sound as if he was the filmmaker. When Riteish discovered he wasn't following the real Anurag, he posted apologies online, and also stated who the real one is.
The number of celeb imposters is on the rise. While Loveleen had to sign-up on the social networking site to keep a check on her imposters, other celebs have been forced to open online profiles for the same reason — master blaster Sachin Tendulkar being one of them.
The only positive thing in this entire mess is that more and more celebs are getting into the social networking sites in a bid to stop cyber imposters from abusing their names

Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .
They are my role models and I want to have a beautiful lineup of characters like them," says the actor
(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..

My dad is the don of B'wood: Abhishek Bachchan
Girls screamed Abhishek's name out loud on seeing him. But Neil, with an overgrown beard, became a tad tough for the people to recognise.
But when they did, everyone gathered there made up by greeting him loudly. Considering the fierce manner in which the Bachchans have been guarding Beti B, Abhishek was virtually swamped with queries about her.
When asked if the family has decided on a name for her, a smiling Abhishek replied, "We've yet to decide. We would ideally like to name her with the alphabet 'A', but let's see.
" BOLLYWOOD KA KING KAUN? With SRK's "Don 2" having just been released, Big B as the original Don was high on people's minds. But Abhishek expertly fielded queries on SRK's venture, when asked, by saying, "Bollywood mein to ek hi Don hai.
And that's my father Amitabh Bachchan . But honestly, I haven't seen the film as I have been busy.
But I will catch it soon." Neil, however, was all praises for the film.
"It's a slick movie with brilliant performances," he said. FAMILY TIME: It was a family reunion for Neil, who was with his sister Neha and her family in Kanpur for Christmas, before reaching Lucknow.
Giving them company was father Nitin Mukesh. In Lucknow, Neil appeared relaxed and still in the holiday mood.
Clearly, the short holiday was a welcome break from the promotional rounds. In fact the family, with brother-in-law Alakshendra Swaroop, Alakshendra's sister Akanksha and Neil's nephews Aryendra and Shauryendra, accompanied him to Lucknow for a day of gorging on lakhnawi food.
"Yahan Lucknow aa ke mein toh bas yahan ki sari mashhoor cheezen khana chahta tha," declared Neil. And he did just that with costar and friend Abhishek Bachchan, when the two feasted on kebabs from Tunday, paranthas, biryani, makkhan malai and laddoos

And reportedly, the actor's rumoured ex-flame Deepika Padukone is a strong contender for the female lead. As for Neil, he has decided to don the role of music composer as well.
And we hear that the actor and his reputed singer father, Nitin Mukesh will sing one of Mukesh's classic evergreens. The source added that besides composing the music, the father and son are likely to also produce the film.
When contacted, Nitin confirmed, "Well, yes it's true. But I can't reveal details.

(less)Abhishek Bachchan 's not a VIP?
While waiting for their flight to Mumbai, Abhishek and his crew, along with co-actor Neil Nitin Mukesh were escorted to the VIP lounge on their arrival at the airport by the CISF personnel. But just when they were made comfortable there, they were asked to vacate the lounge.
Airport Director, Atul Dixit, tells us of what actually took place there. According to him, Bachchan and his guards entered the VIP lounge at the airport without any official permission from the terminal manager at the airport.
"The CISF had made them sit in the VIP lounge without informing the airport authorities. The guards travelling with the team had virtually seized the VIP lounge.
Even the airport officials were denied entry into the lounge. The airport duty manager, RK Srivastava, questioned stars' presence there, as the VIP lounge is meant for only a special category of people, which incidently does not include film stars, and subsequently requested the guards have Ab hishek Bachchan make an entry into the register which is kept there for record purposes.
But his guards refused to do the needful, at which he told them categorically to either make an entry in the register, or vacate the lounge. Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan on hearing the commotion came out and specified that he had been escorted to the VIP lounge by the airport security.
And then he shifted to the arrival lounge of the airport along with Neil Nitin Mukesh and their team."

(less)Production house becomes victim of identity theft
The company has learnt that the perpetrators not only created a fake company profile on a popular social networking site, but also organised auditions to cast aspiring actors in a film under the said banner. Reportedly, the scam set-up took quite a sum of money from the actors to land roles in the film.
One such aspirant was Mukesh Pal, who explained his plight, "I found the number online. The ad said that it was conducting auditions for UTV films.
I contacted them over the phone and they told me they were in search of fresh faces for the film Call Centre, which will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures and stars Irrfan Khan , Tusshar Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut. The film's supposed director took my screen test and promised me a small role in the film, after asking me to pay Rs 20,000.
It was hard for me to come up with that amount of money, but I have always wanted to work in Bollywood, so I agreed." Reportedly, it was Pal, who brought the scam to UTV Motion Pictures' attention.
And so, UTV Software Communications has filed a civil suit against the fake company on December 12, 2011 for infringement of registered trade mark, passing off and unfair trade competition. In response to which, the Delhi High Court passed an ad-interim injunction yesterday against the fake casting agency running under the name of UTV in Noida, UP.
Siddharth Roy Kapur , CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, said, "Cases like these, where the names of reputed studios are used to dupe unsuspecting aspirants, unfortunately make people suspicious about all casting agencies. We have taken action and we appeal to the authorities to take a strong stance to ensure such incidents do not take place in the future.

(less)Genelia, Rana come closer!
" This is the second time that the south actor has been linked to a B-Town actress. Previously, Rana was reportedly close to Bipasha Basu while they were shooting for Dum Maro Dum in Goa.
Genie (as the actress is fondly called) has a squeaky clean image and has been with Riteish Deshmukh ever since their first film together, Tujhe Meri Kasam, in 2003. Even as Genelia's marriage plans with Riteish are being firmed up for next year, Southern industry insiders just can't stop talking about the growing "friendship" between D'Souza and Daggubatti.

However, Jugraj is worried that this will remind people of Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail , a film which was set in a prison and starred Mukesh. According to a source, "He (Mukesh) is charged about having a sequence set in a jail.
The two have been having some bitter arguments, but Neil is unwilling to budge." The film is reportedly a revenge saga, where Mukesh's character wants to avenge the wrongdoings committed against him.
According to the source, Mukesh wants to include a bit where he orchestrates his incarceration so as to get the chance to meet the villains in jail. When contacted, Mukesh admitted that Paidaar has jail sequences.
"But the prison in Paidaar and the action that follows, will have no resemblance to Madhur's Jail . We'll create a prison world that's never been seen in Indian cinema before.
"We'll use John Woo's Face/Off and Simon West's Con Air as reference points," he said. Tweet

(less)When technology, Bollywood walked hand in hand
The Hindi film industry used technology like never before for continuous film promotion, to raise funds, to find artists and to connect with the audiences for suggestions and ideas. Consumed by the technological boom, filmmakers like Prakash Jha, Mahesh Bhatt, Shirish Kunder and big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan used social networking sites to connect with their audiences and impart information.
The FICCI-KPMG 2011 report pointed out that VFX and post-production segments grew 42 percent and 17 percent respectively in the total of the Rs.23.
6-billion ($450 million) worth industry for 2011. If big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar launched the first look of their respective films "RA.
One", "The Dirty Picture" and "Agneepath" on Twitter, Mahesh Bhatt used the platform to finalise the poster for "Murder 2". Filmmaker Onir went a step further and used Facebook to invited people to raise funds for his film "I Am" and received an overwhelming response.
Around 400 people from 46 cities across the world participated and he raised nearly Rs.10 million.
Later Onir released the trailer of the film on Youtube. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has witnessed the industry's growth from the 1970s till now, had once said: "The interaction with the audience through social networking mediums has helped.
..
I think it is a wonderful vehicle to tell people that 'I made this film for you. Now can you guide me where I am going wrong before I actually put it out in theatres'.
I think it is quite masterly to involve the people..
.it's democratically correct!" A regular blogger, Big B is tech savvy and often discusses his film projects, tidbits about his life on his blog and he even tweets.
In fact, he announced his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy on Twitter, and later the birth of his granddaughter. For others, using Twitter or Facebook for clarification or refuting rumours was a regular thing.
Bollywood's King Khan used every available technological support for king-sized promotion and branding of his superhero movie "RA.One".
SRK, who reportedly spent over Rs.150 crore on "RA.
One" as a producer, set aside a separate marketing budget for online promotions. He collaborated with Google Plus and Sony for a full cycle game called "Ra.
One - The Game ". It was available on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 format.
He also customised "RA.One" channel on YouTube, which was the first-of-its kind initiative in the country and saw the songs release, theatrical promos along with videos of the film's making, events and uncut footage going online.
Marriage between gaming and films is an opportunity to raise revenues worldwide, said King Khan. "Apart from just the bright factor, the creative factor and the marketing factor - I think the main marriage is going to be that we are going to have another source of revenue very soon for our films.
..
so they can get bigger and better," said the actor-producer who did tie-ups worth Rs.52 crore.
"..
.I feel Indian films can take this second step -- to get video games arranged for their respective films.
I am sure youngsters all around would be proud of this development," he added. His forthcoming film "Don 2 - The King Is Back" will have a game titled "Don - The Social Mobsters Game', which will be launched on Facebook and is being developed by Mango Games.
He is regularly tweeting about the film's promotion and keeps his fans updated. Actor-filmmaker Sanjay Suri , who featured in "I AM", feels the landscape of releasing and watching trailers has changed.
"One can reach a wider audience through such platforms," he said. The reach of Youtube was evident when southern star Dhanush's song "Kolaveri Di" went viral on the internet and made him popular across the globe.
But there is a flip side to it, says Anurag Kashyap, director of films likes " Black Friday ", "Dev D" and "Gulaal". "Youth is my biggest audience but the biggest problem is they are a non-paying audience.
They are the ones who download films but don't believe in spending," he said. Technology was used and abused.
For instance, songs like "Haal e dil", a song from Amitabh Bachchan's film "Bbuddah..
.Hoga Tera Baap" and "Chammak Challo" from "RA.
One" were leaked online much before their official music launch

(less)Why celebs supported Anna Hazare?
B-Town bigwigs Aamir Khan, Raju Hirani and Om Puri were present at the Ramlila Maidan, Delhi, while others like John Abraham, Vidya Balalan, Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Udita Goswami et al, were supporting Anna's fight against corruption directly or indirectly in various cities. So, what's the agenda behind the celeb support for Anna? Are these stars cutting a piece of cake for themselves? Says Kailash, "When you see these stars, it's visible that they are fake, that they are fooling people and are doing it for the sake of free publicity.
I have never seen people changing colors like that." But then he diplomatically adds, "In India the system breaks you and your spirit.
And this makes people think why should I initiate a process. With Anna taking such a strong stand, it has given people hope to fight for a cause, something to fall back on when they want to take a stand against something.
" There also surfaces a subtle divide within the hitherto united 'big family' - the Hindi film industry. Even as Anupam Kher, (who played the ideologically upright headmaster in Saaransh) came out to support Anna, the man who made the movie and his former mentor, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt opposed Anna's stance.
On one hand, we had Aamir making his positive presence felt, and Salman's bodyguards beat up Anna supporters on the other. While Amitabh Bachchan and Shekhar Kapur openly supported Anna on microblogging sites, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar were skeptical and Ram Gopal Varma even pretended ignorance about Anna! And then there were some who suddenly resurfaced from almost anonymity (like Raja Bundela, Sambhavna Seth, Raghubir Yadav) to ensure that they championed the most talked about cause of the moment.
With their movies up for release, you could see some star casts in the front row of the protest rallies. There was John Abraham breaking "dahi handis of corruption"as he put it during Janmashtami celebrations, Vishal Dadlani and Raghu Ram bragging about their 'participation in the Mumbai rally to support Anna' on social networking sites, and Vidya Balan, Shreyas, Bipasha, Udita and Celina in their Anna topis, Rakhi Sawant berating Team Anna, Jacquiline Fernandez refusing to support Anna - every celeb wanted a piece of Anna.
But do these celebrities really need to be out there in what it is being called the common man's revolution? Udita says, "I feel celebrities should stay away from the entire campaign. If this is a common man's uprising then it should remain like that and with Bollywood celebrities appearing on stage, the focus inadvertently shifts to the glamour they automatically bring in.
" But the ways and the cause is again appreciated and supported, she says, "It has definitely made a difference as we in India have become used to bomb blasts, but a man fasting has stirred the whole nation." Opportunity knocks only once on your God forsaken door and it's wise to make use of it.
However, to say that exactly that's what is happening will be drawing your own conclusions, but also there is no smoke without fire. Anna is surely fighting for one cause we all have got affected with at least once in our lifetime and actress Shital Shah sums it up best when she says, "I am happy that Anna managed to raise a very pertinent issue and sensitize the masses to it.
What team Anna has come up with may not be foolproof and it would require some time on the part of everyone to bring out a bill that is in the best interests of the country."
