Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.

(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

"It's been 20 years for that film. So, obviously now I will have to upgrade this story.
It will be the same realistic love story but with a modern theme," Suri told IANS. Aashiqui won critical accolades after its release at the time.
It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..

Even today my relationship with Ashmit is as strong as it was inside the house. If you ask me whose number I have on my speed dial, it's Ashmit's.
"Probably because he is like a strong pillar in my life. He has been by my side from day one.
He goes out of his way to help me and support me. We have a very strong, warm and a nice relationship.
"People in India are so warm and nice that it is difficult not to bond with them. I have realised that no matter which part of the world you are from, Indians will welcome you with warmth and open arms.
"That's what makes this nation what it is--a magnet for people from other nations. Recently I was shopping at a mall in Dubai where many Indians spotted me.

(less)I want to be around for 50 years: Anil Kapoor
"No one has the kind of success that I do," says Mr India, who thinks that having a lot of films in your kitty and accumulating wealth shouldn't be the sole measure for 'success'. THE GAME PLAN - LONGEVITY Friday afternoon at a suburban five star, Kapoor is busy promoting MI4: Ghost Protocol and yet people around him want the man to say 'Jhakaas' in his unique 'bindaas' sort of way.
He remains unfazed. "I am doing roles that suit my age and try to look fresh and young in those roles.
I don't want people to tell me that I should act my age. I stopped playing 20-somethings myself.
I have always done things ahead of times," Kapoor says. And that's his plan for 'longevity'.
"That's my game," says the man adding, "I don't want to be a star for just four or five years. I want to be around for 40-50 years.
To remain a star, you should do roles that are ahead of the times. Youngsters should be able to relate to it.
" What's more, he doesn't even regret not running around trees or playing the masala hero anymore. "There are younger actors who can do these things.
Let them do that." STAYING YOUNG, THANKS TO KIDS Kapoor understands the young.
Partly because of his children. "Sonam is much bigger than me.
At times when I go to an event with her, I have to stand aside. The media wants her.
I was quite taken aback. But I also feel happy.
..
proud. Kucch toh baat hai," says the doting parent.
And it's not just Sonam. "Rhea is successful too.
My son is raring to go. I feel I have come closer to my kids.
We discuss stuff as friends. Sonam helps me with my wardrobe.
She was born with a great aesthetic sense. Perhaps she has got it from my wife," Kapoor adds.
TOM LOVED INDIA About time to get hungry. Ever-energetic Anil goes to the counter and orders grilled chicken sandwiches for everyone.
Settling back, he starts discussing his big Hollywood break and 'genuine' friend Tom. The man who did not even know who Danny Boyle was before he was offered a role in the filmmaker's Slumdog Millionaire reveals that he did not intend to become 'big or small'.
He just wanted to work. And today, he is a part of one of the biggest Hollywood franchise Mission Impossible.
Plus, he is friends with the man on the mission - Ethan Hunt aka Tom Cruise. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't Cruise or the creators of MI4 who wanted the actor to grace India.
It was Kapoor who convinced his co-star. "Tom never asked me about India.
I constantly kept telling him about the positive aspects of India. Mauka mile toh ghus jao bas.
India bolte bolte. I made him believe that India is the best industry across the globe.
I told him about the fantastic people here. The beautiful girls.
The great actors and filmmakers. I told him 1.
1 billion people love him," reveals Kapoor. And thankfully, his prodding helped.
Tom loved India. "Tom told me, 'All my friends are jealous of me'.
He sent pictures of him at the Taj Mahal to his friends in Hollywood. To make them jealous.
For Tom, everything was 'fun'. Media - fun.
Fans - fun! He connects with the fans. He talks to them about their family.
He did not want to miss out on it," adds an excited Kapoor

After they arrived at Queenstown, they got to know about the earthquake in Christchurch. The first quake measured 5.

Just recently, we settled on Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, but there was a process attached to getting it, hence the delayed announcement.'' KJo adds that the new title fits this rom-com perfectly well.
He says, "Short Term Shaadi wasn't giving the right vibe. This story is about the conversational chemistry between these two very beautiful people - Imran and Kareena.
EMAET is a witty, feel-good, slice-of-life comedy and it conveys the energies of this couple.'' Revealing a secret, Karan says, "Imran is a self-confessed Kareena fan.
When I saw these two together in one frame at the photo shoot, I realised that they were a smashing couple. Casting them together was a wise decision.
It is amazing that Kareena is romancing Aamir in one film and then his nephew Imran in another. Getting Bebo and Imran together is a coup of sorts.
'' Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu will release on February 10 and KJo recommends it as the perfect Valentine's Day flick. Says he, "You can watch it with your friend or with your date.
'' He also feels that this could well be Dharma Productions' hat-trick in the romcom genre; the earlier two being Wake Up Sid and I Hate Luv Storys. "Shakun and Imran are close friends.
And this film also shows their comfort level as an actor-director team,'' he says, adding, "Kareena hasn't done a romcom in a while; Imran has made a perfect place for himself in this genre. As I said earlier, this film has captured the conversational chemistry of these two perfectly.
And though Imran has acted with several other leading ladies, the USP of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is seeing Bebo and him together for the first time."
(less)Sonam stresses on her age factor
Now does that remind us of a certain past episode where she had allegedly called Aishwarya Rai Bachchan aunty? No harm in flaunting age as long as that doesn't seem like an excuse for underperformance! Even while doing interviews for Players, the actress stressed on how she was the youngest amongst the entire cast. Sonam was heard telling journos, how the rest are way older than she is and how they have seen her grow up.
However we wish the actress could atleast act her age, as for a 26 year old, her naivete as an actress seems shocking. Emma Watson, Abigail Breslin, Dakota Fanning, Mia Wasikowska are all under 25 and yet have stunning screen presence!
(less)Imran's target's to gain 15 kilos in 4 months
A source told Mumbai Mirror, "Vishal Bhardwaj is known for making his actors go through a complete image makeover. Saif Ali Khan as Langda Tyagi in Omkara being one of the best examples.
Vishal is a very meticulous director. He looks into every minute detail.
He likes to sketch different characters and wants his actors to get into the skin of their character." Talking about Imran's makeover for the filmmaker's next project, the source revealed, "Imran will have to meet the requirements.
He will be on a high carbohydrate diet to gain the extra kilos. He will be appointing a special trainer soon.
" According to sources, Vishal Bhardwaj wants Imran to look rugged and tough. "Apart from gaining weight, Imran has to go through a makeover to look rustic as well.
His clothes will also have to change. The way he talks and walks too will have to different for the film," claimed the source.
This will also be a first for Imran Khan, who has played the quintessential city boy in most of his films except Kidnap. While Imran remained unavailable for comment, his spokesperson confirmed, "Yes, Imran is required to go through drastic changes.
He has to increase his weight by about 15 kg. It is too early to decide how he will go about it.
He will soon have a meeting with Vishal on this and work it out accordingly." Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola stars Imran opposite Anushka Sharma.
Vijay Singh and Vishal Bhardwaj are the co producers of the film

(less)Britney Spears parties after engagement
11). The 'Hold It Against Me' singer threw a joint engagement and 40th birthday party for her fiance Jason Trawick at the Chateau club in Las Vegas, spending money on Dom Perignon champagne and a chocolate fountain to adorn the room.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Britney made sure there was plenty of Dom Perignon champagne flowing throughout the bash. She had a couple of glasses herself.
She stayed until 4am when she and Jason returned to their 50th floor suite." Writing on twitter, Britney said: "Tonight was one of the most magical nights of my life.
Such an amazing time with my new fiance and our closest friends and family. Blessed.
(sic)" Meanwhile, Neil Lane, the designer responsible for designing the engagement ring Jason gave to Britney has revealed he has been creating the piece of jewellery - which features one main diamond and 90 smaller gems on an eternity band - for some time while she has been touring the world. He told People: "Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same - she is a princess.
"Texts came from all over the world, from Abu Dhabi to Mexico and I don't know where else." Despite the ring being created when he was away, Jason was delighted with the final piece he went to pick it up from his store in Los Angeles.
Neil added: "Oh my god he loved it. The guy was so excited and nervous.
At the end of the day, even with all the fame, he's still a normal guy who was about to propose to the woman he loves." Tweet
(less)80% of my fans are female: Sonam Kapoor
People started noticing my clothes only a year ago Says Sonam, "I've been in the industry for two-and-a-half years. When "Saawariya" and "Delhi 6" came, people only spoke about how Indian I looked.
The memory of the audience is very short. They forgot about these two years, when all they spoke about was how Indian my looks were and how I was doing those 'Smita Patil' kind of roles.
But suddenly, with "Aisha" and "I Hate Luv Storys", they started identifying me with those characters. But that's also nice as it means I did my job well.
" I'm glad that 80% of my fans are female Despite the 'fashion icon' classification, Sonam claims she has no specific public image. Says she, "I don't think I have an image in the public space.
What I really like about myself in this space is that most of my fans are female. In fact, 80% of my fans are female and I like that because they like the fact that I'm a real girl.
They like that I dress up, and that I dress up for real girls. My dressing is aspirational, but I don't wear the 'tight-tight sort of clothes' that make me look like I'll steal your husband or boyfriend.
I like the fact that they like that I read, or that I speak in a certain way or that I'm not scared of people judging me. I speak my mind.
And I have women fans because of that. And that is one thing I will never change about myself.
" I only get flak from the men in the industry While Sonam says that women appreciate her for what she is, it is usually the men who give her flak for speaking her mind. She tells us, "My father has always brought me up like a son and he's more ambitious for me and my sister than he is for his son.
So I think giving us that freedom, giving us that strength..
. I have so much self respect for myself because of the way my dad has brought us up.
..
I always speak my mind and I have an opinion and I feel girls get inspired by it, they like it." But Sonam denies that it is something she has cultivated after coming to the industry, and tells us, "It is the way we have been brought up.
Yes, it gets me flaks from men (and uncles), but being so plainspoken has never worked against me because I've never done it with a bad intention..
. When you don't mean any harm, things don't come and bite you back.
So I'm not doing anything to mar someone's image or put someone down when I say something. I am just plainspoken.
I say it as it is. For example, I don't have a bad reputation, people don't talk about my affairs, or catfights because I have never had any fights with people and I never had affairs with my heroes.
So, there is no reason for people to talk about anything. Even though there are girls who are quite diplomatic about stuff like that, their image is far more tarnished than mine could be.
I am plainspoken and I say things in a certain way, but I also lead my life in a way that people can't question what I do or who I am. I feel like I have a responsibility because there are a lot of girls who do look up to me and who see me in the public eye and I am aspirational to them and I have a responsibility to behave in a certain way, to conduct my life in a certain way.
" I support any movement for the betterment of our country As someone who people look up to, Sonam says she realises how important it is for known faces to support public campaigns. And the actress is certainly supporting the wave against corruption.
Talking about Anna Hazare and the entire campaign, she says, "I do support any movement that is for the betterment of our country or one that causes a lot of people in the country to come together. A lot of people are saying that had become a catfight between various political parties.
But people shouldn't just get on with their lives like earlier. There should be some change that happens.
..
I am for every movement that is positive..
. who does it, who is part of it or who instigating, it is inspiring.
Any person who causes that change becomes a symbol." But as far as getting out on the street is concerned, Sonam says that that becomes particularly difficult, adding, "That is something that I don't think I will do.
I would love to, but a lot of attention is diverted from the cause when a celebrity comes to the ground. People were asking that " Mausam" was supposed to have its musical launch in London but we cancelled it because of the riots.
So, the news should be about the riots and not the launch. Similarly, while Anna Hazare's fast was on, the news should've been about Anna Hazare and not about Sonam Kapoor supporting him.
" I bought a Manjit Bawa with my first paycheck Since Sonam was in the city for an exhibition, we did question her about her fascination with art, and the aficionado told us, "I love art. With my first paycheck, I didn't buy any clothes.
I bought a Manjit Bawa. This was three years ago.
He was one of the best painters out there. I wish I could own more of his brilliant art.
Besides him, I love the Indian masters - Souza, Raza, and I love Jayshree Burman and Shakti Burman. I love sculptures and I love Paresh Maity's work very much.
I love collecting paintings and hopefully one day I will have my own collection." While she wants to own all the big masters, the Kapoor girl says she is already an investor, and tells us, "I've invested quite a bit in art.
In fact, property and art are the only two things I understand and I think those are very lucrative. Ever since I started working, I've been investing in art.
My mom and my maasi are really into art. My mom's a big collector, and she used to buy paintings 20-30 years ago and they are worth crazy amounts today.
When she'd bought those, they were worth very little. And it's not that I am ever going to sell my art.
It is for pleasure more than anything else." Tweet'; var stindex=100; var stp=150; var taglen=0; var tmp; var tagcheck = new Array("div","span","br","font","a"); if(storymetalinks==true) { var storydiv=document.

(less)Why should I say 'sorry' to Ranbir Kapoor: Sonam Kapoor
Pankaj Kapur is known to be a very hard taskmaster..
. Not with me.
He never raised his voice at me. He knew that I prepared a lot before coming to the sets.
I imbibed a lot from his narrations. But yes, every actor is different and Pankaj Sir dealt with each one of us differently.
Once I met him, I knew that I wouldn't be sidelined in the film even though his son was the hero. And did his son live up to his reputation of being a meddler? I haven't worked with Shahid before Mausam, so I don't know how he behaves otherwise.
But during the filming of Mausam, he was extremely respectful of his father and obeyed him completely. I know there were rumours of Shahid and me not getting along as well.
The truth is, Shahid and I share a very good equation. We are good friends.
Just because I am not having an affair with my hero, doesn't mean I don't get along with him. Let me tell you something about him.
..
Go on..
. He doesn't give a damn about what he wears.
He is too much of a teenager who dresses up like an 18-year-old skateboarder. He can pull off just about anything without raising eyebrows.
But..
.and it's hilarious.
..
he is extremely worried about his hair. But you, on the other hand, are too particular about what you wear.
I don't wear tight dresses that outline my butt. I refuse to get into body hugging tops with spandex simply because it doesn't fit my body type.
I do not believe in cosmetic surgeries either. I think, every single imperfection adds to your beauty.
I'd rather be imperfect than perfect. And yes, I have a certain sense of aesthetics.
Think about it..
. I still look good in both Indian and Western wear.
(And she winks) Maybe not tight clothes, but would you ever sport a bikini? I don't have a body like Deepika Padukone or Bipasha Basu. But if it's a beach scene, I surely can't wear a salwar kameez, right? Speaking about Deepika, why haven't you two resolved your cold war? She is sweet if and when we meet.
However, we haven't met since we made an appearance on Karan Johar's show. We don't have time, I guess.
Also, for two people to be friends, they need to think alike, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong..
. but you are not apologetic about your remarks against Ranbir on Karan Johar's show.
No correction required. You are not wrong.
Well, it was Ranbir who started it all by saying 'Sonam is not sexy'. I just shot back and said 'Ranbir is not sexy'.
If a man says it, chalta hai. But when a woman says the same thing, nahi chalta hai? That's sexist! Why should I say 'sorry' to him? Just because his father made a hue and cry about it? If Ranbir apologises to me, I shall too.
So, you don't talk to Ranbir anymore..
. I don't know Ranbir anymore.
He is not my friend now. I did have offers to act opposite him but I turned them down.
And that's simply because I thought that those roles did not suit me. If I get something nice, I'll act with him.
It isn't necessary for me to be friends with all my actors. How do you judge whether a role suits you or not? Depends on my mood.
I am eccentric.(Smiles) Punit Malhotra? What about him? He was my director in I Hate Luv Storys.
You are dating him..
. I shall talk about my personal life if and when I decide to get married.
That day is yet to come
(less)Preview: Players
Abhishek plays Charlie Mascarenhas, a chartered accounted by day and a master thief in the night. He's got razor sharp intelligence, is an expert in conning people and loves to call himself an artist.
Naina (Sonam) is an expert in ethical hacking. A beautiful girl who did everything right in her academic life but for personal reasons decides to be a part of the heist.
Riya (Bipasha) is known to charm her way into the hearts of rich and famous men and later into their safety vaults. She has been Charlie's longstanding partner-in-crime and is also an automobile expert.
Ronnie (Bobby) has no experience in the game of conning people, but is a master of illusions. He was one of the most popular illutionists in the country, but abruptly switched tracks at the peak of his career.
Bilal (Sikander), having worked in the secret services, has strong contacts all over the world and is fluent in several languages. He also has had a thing for home-made bombs.
Spider (Neil), a quintessential computer geek and a master hacker, has robbed millions from banks all over the world. Sunny Mehra (Omi) is an aspiring Bollywood star, but when rejected by all the producers, he goes on to become a face-changing expert - a prosthetics expert.
All of them come together and plan to pull off the heist of their lives by creating the largest traffic jam ever. "People love the commotion in such films.
The way actors escape through tunnels and drainage pipes makes the film interesting. The double crossing, scheming and plotting are something that keeps people glued to the screens," said Abbas-Mustan.
The makers started shooting in Goa and then embarked on a journey to places like Wellington and Auckland in New Zealand, Siberia and St Petersburg in Russia, as well as the North Pole to make the backdrop as thrilling as possible. "Shooting in foreign locations isn't new, but we chose locations that are different from the rest.
We even shot a part of the film at the North Pole. It has been the best experience for us.
We knew we couldn't go in the winter as it is dark all day," said Abbas-Mustan. Neil was left battered and bruised while doing stunts in the film.
Sonam is getting rave reviews for her cool and glamorous look in the film. Players found itself in trouble after the censor board raised objections over her middle finger act in the film.
Players is the first big release of 2012 and many hope it will ring in profits in the new year. Tweet
(less)Karan Johar chooses his directors on instinct
In the recent past, Johar has given a platform to first-time directors like Ayan Mukherji for Wake Up Sid ; Rensil D'Silva for Kurbaan ; Tarun Mansukhani for Dostana ; Siddhartha Malhotra for We Are Family ; and Punit Malhotra for I Hate Luv Storys . His upcoming production, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is also directed by newcomer Shakun Batra, while Johar's co-production with Ekta Kapoor will see newcomer Akshay Roy wielding the megaphone.
"I think it's an instinct that I have. I have got it right some times and I have gone wrong with it at times but mostly, I have gone right with the directors I have worked with because they are solid human beings and that is what I look for," the 39-year-old said here at the success party of Agneepath , a remake of his father's 1990 film by the same name.
Karan also has a handy tip for all the directors who are trying to work their way to the top. "The only thing that I did in my first film and that I would tell every first director is that let your work speak for yourself.
I never gave a single interview till Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released because I had nothing to say." "Why should anyone hear me out when they had not seen the work that I had done," said Johar, who hit the jackpot with his debut film and continued his success story with his second film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham .
"Now Karan Malhotra is open to the world of media and I would like him to spread his wings and fly and today you can ask many things from him because you have seen his film," he added. Johar's last directorial venture was My Name Is Khan for which he won the Filmfare award for best director.
He is currently busy directing his next, Student of The Year. Tweet

(less)My sister spoils me: Ranveer Singh
Ritika personally selects the rakhi, and we invariably debate over the knot. We argue over what is the optimum way of knotting a rakhi.
She feels very awkward when I bend down to touch her feet..
. but I do it anyway! Another one of her personal touches that I appreciate is the selection of chocolates on the thali.
She's solely responsible for my major sweet tooth. As a child, she'd buy me chocolates almost every day.
On Raksha Bandhan, she always includes my favourite chocolates in the thali. Both of us gorge on them greedily once the ritual is done with.
When I was away from home studying in the US, Ritika would send me a rakhi via post. She'd also include small ziplock bags with rice and the tikka.
She would even send me kharchi - in dollars, no less! I missed her the most during that time and especially on those days. Since I'm her baby brother, she always spoils me to bits.
Instead of me buying her a gift, she buys me a whole bunch of gifts on Raksha Bandhan like watches, laptops, mobile phones or perfumes. This year, for the first time ever, I've been able to afford buying her a present in return with my own money.
I would like to get her some luxury accessories, but she is very particular so I'll let her select whatever she likes. (As told to Upala KBR)

(less)My dad is crazy: Sonam Kapoor
In fact, Sonam told Mumbai Mirror that she always thought Abhay was 'the most talented actor' and that they had stayed in touch even when 'he was in Spain shooting for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. "He said something weird about my dad.
I didn't like it. But to be honest, it's between my dad and Abhay," said the same actress who had earlier expressed her shock over Abhay's comments about Anil Kapoor .
The actress who clearly stays separate from her father's affairs also stated that being a star kid has not really helped her in her career. "My dad is crazy.
He thinks I am headstrong. But I always have this thing.
..
I have to do everything on my own," she added. But when it comes to dressing (and that is one thing she does really well), Sonam is totally dependent on her sister Rhea.
"My Players look is completely Rhea. I gave her a brief that I want to look sexy but not 'nanga'.
I am all covered up in the film and yet I look sexy. The entire credit goes to Rhea," said the actress.
While her style quotient has remained a constant, the roles she has played have been extremely diverse. From intense drama in her debut Saawariya to a rom-com I Hate Luv Storys and now the action packed Players, was the choice intentional? "No one has ever asked me this before," said a surprised Sonam and added, "I love the fact that directors feel I can do everything.
I'm glad to get all kind of roles. I get to wear Indian clothes as well as western.
It's exhilarating. I have multiple personality so I can play multiple genres.
And though I am not very intelligent, there is a little bit of thought that goes behind my choice of films."

(less)I highly recommend marriage to everyone: Avantika Malik
. Avantika Malik and Imran Khan completed one year of marriage last week.
But there were no surprises for her. She's known her beau-turned-husband for 10 years.
They even lived together for a year in Los Angeles when he was training to be an actor. Soon after the wedding the young couple moved out of their family home, which is currently being renovated, and are living in a teenie (well, by their standards) apartment like any other working couple next door.
They don't even have a live-in maid. In her first-ever interview, Avantika talks about the highs and lows, getting along with her hubby's co-stars, and getting back to work.
Are you Avantika Malik, Avantika Khan or Avantika Malik Khan? I am Avantika Malik. One thing you discovered about Imran after marriage? Nothing.
I've known him for too long, so the only surprise was how easy marriage is if you meet the right person. I feel very blessed and lucky.
And I highly recommend marriage to everyone. Is Imran a better husband or boyfriend? He's a better husband, there's no doubt about it.
He's fantastic. He's the best person to live with because he is able to be with you and be supportive, but also gives you tremendous space.
He really looks after me, I have to give him that. Especially when we were moving into our own space and I was really nervous.
I have lived in my mom's house all my life, except for the year-and-a-half in LA as a student, so there were no responsibilities. I was nervous about whether I would be able to run a house, but he was very supportive of me, and in everything that I have chosen to do or not do.
Most actors have an entourage around them. Imran doesn't.
Is that him or you? I think it's both of us. But it's him first.
He's so regular. Our intimate group of friends are people who have been with us since school and college.
We have made many friends in the industry, but our core group remains the same. And we both like it that way.
He doesn't like to surround himself by people who constantly tell him how great he is, because that can make you lose touch with reality. I am so grateful he's that way.
We are a normal young couple, as normal as you can be with him being a movie star. Is it difficult being married to a movie star? He could have been a banker or a lawyer, it's just his work.
I am an ordinary girl in love with a boy who happens to be a movie star. It's very consuming work and it does take away from his life in a way while he is making a film, as it should be.
I don't think there is any other way to do it. I just feel like I fell in love with this boy 10 years ago, he was a 19-20 then, and though he's grown tremendously in many ways, his core being is still the same.
I will give him a lot of credit too, as when Jaane Tu..
. Ya Jaane Na was releasing, we were thinking about when we should get married because we had been together for so long.
And I remember my mother-in-law telling me, 'Wait for two years. Right now he's just started, you have to see what happens with fame and success and how you both handle it as a couple.
' I give Imran a lot of credit because he hasn't changed in any way. Except that he's more confident as he knows what he's achieved.
Is there any part of his career that you don't like? Just that I feel a lot of time he's just gone! But right now since you have no kids, you can travel and be with him, no? True, but I have a routine here, things that I like doing and I have an entire world of my own that I enjoy. So I would feel very inadequate if I gave that up and just left.
How do you deal with the highs and lows he goes through as an actor? The kind of person he is, he handles it with aplomb. His career started off on a major high and he saw tremendous success with Jaane Tu.
..
but he handled it beautifully. At no point did he lose his grounding.
For me, his lows were heartbreaking. I am very protective about him.
I see all the things that are so great about him that when someone else can't see them it bothers me. When people would write things about him that are untrue, or give him bad reviews, I would get very worked up.
In fact his mom and I were discussing this, when he was having a hard time, he was taking care of me not the other way around..
So now the negative stories don't upset me the way they used to in the beginning. Now he's had a successful year and I hope that they continue in life so there's a balance.
How is he on a Friday before release? He's calm, cool, collected, sleeping, and eating normally. And me? Not sleeping, not eating, really nervous, running up and down.
He is Zen! He's like now I have done the work. I have done my bit in the film and promoting it, so now jo hota hai dekhenge.
..
Lot of star wives get involved their husbands work like designing their clothes, or managing their dates or producing films etc, have you considered that? As far as being involved in his career, the extent of it is we have a discussion if it's a big decision which will affect everyone. But ultimately he's a decision maker, whether he should do a film or not do a film.
And I like to keep my life separate from his as much as possible. What about producing films? I have always wanted to produce films and I will do that.
But it won't necessarily mean it will be because of Imran or because he's in my film. I want to produce films, I am very clear, as I believe I have a keen understanding of films; I have produced films in the past.
And I feel like there were a lot of things that were happening there, corporate set up and things had to be done in a certain way. There were a lot of things I was keen on that didn't happen, but I feel like I developed a sense and feel for films.
Now it comes instinctively to me. You can't be married to someone who is deeply entrenched in films and not love it yourself.
I think that would be difficult. I want to produce films I am just waiting for the house to get ready.
My mom-in-law is working, Imran is working, so I am the only one who is overseeing the work right now, so I don't want to lose track. But by the end of the year, I would like to get back to work.
You reaction to his kissing and intimate scenes in films is..
..
(laughs) I can't remember the first time he had a kissing scene. In Jaane Tu.
..
there was one peck with Manjiri, and I was so worked up because then it was all too new for me and I was like how will things go, this that, but now I am fine. It's his work and I know him so well.
..
He told me it's not the most comfortable thing in the world, it's quite uncomfortable, there are 100 of people, retakes, so no matter what you might imagine, that it's exciting, it's very uncomfortable and it's part of his job. Which of his co-stars are you friends with? You won't believe this but I like all of them.
If you ask me who I am very friendly with then, it has to be Deepika and Sonam. Because we are almost the same age, and we were all a gang during I Hate Luv storys and Break Ke Baad, and we had a blast making those two films.
But I cannot tell you how wonderful all of them have been to me and am being very honest. Genelia, Deepika, Sonam, Katrina and Kareena they have all been really wonderful.
And everyone asks me, 'You don't feel insecure, upset that he's working with these gorgeous women because they are all so stunning.' And I give him credit, as I know how he's so faithful but also these girls have been really lovely to me and we should give them some credit some times.
Is Imran the perfectionist like his uncle Aamir? No. actually he's quite easy going.
Hes particular about his work and certain things. I know he's made jokes about these things, but how his things are lined up in the bathroom.
And he's very particular about these things. He's a very good boy.
But the human being that he is, they don't make men like him anymore, they just don't. And I keep telling him that for me the most important thing I love about him is that he's a good person.
I have seen him grow as an actor and I know he puts his everything into it and if you are honest to your work eventually you will achieve whatever you want. What do you guys fight about most? We don't really fight that much.
Considering I am a feisty person, I think he just knows how to handle me. (laughs) We fight about silly things like how much time he spends on the ipad or things like that.
But no major conflict. His most annoying habit? Ipad! Phone! Computer! I think he's addicted to the internet and he is Mr.
Know it all. Like if you ask him Imran how do you fix this? He will be like give me a second! And start typing.
He will Google everything, we should make him the brand ambassador of Google. Which film of Imran's is your favourite? It would be hard to pick between Jaane Tu and Delhi Belly because Jaane Tu he had this incredible boyish charm and looked so good.
In DB he was scruffy and with stubble..
I am caught between whether I like him more as the cute chocolate boy or huis grungy look. I love them both.
That's the best part of being married to an actor is that I come out of a theatre and have a crush on him all over again. It's an incredible feeling, after 10 years of togetherness to watch a film of his and find him so good looking and charming and sexy, and it's like falling in love all over again.
It has happened to me with most of his films. Can't conclude without asking any plans to start a family? Not for a while! When it happens organically, it will.
Is there any part of his career that you don't like? Just that I feel a lot of time he's just gone! Like if he is shooting for six months in Agra or Delhi, he's not here. For Mere Brother Ki Dulhan he was gone for three months straight.
I have a routine, my own life and I cannot possibly just leave to be with him for months wherever he goes..
. and that distance is something I don't like.
Now again he has to go for Vishal's (Bhardwaj) film..
But right now since you have no kids, you can travel and be with him, no? True, but I have a routine here, things that I like doing and I have an entire world of my own that I enjoy. So I would feel very inadequate if I gave that up and just left.

(less)I'm getting more time to promote Mausam: Sonam
It's absolutely fine if the release date got pushed by a week. We have worked very hard and we are waiting for the film to release for a long time.
Another seven days don't matter," Sonam told IANS. The directorial debut of eminent actor Pankaj Kapoor, Mausam features Sonam as a Kashmiri girl who falls in love with a Punjabi boy, Shahid Kapoor.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) had raised an objection to a 30-second scene in the film. Though the censor board had given a U-certificate to the film, IAF had given a conditional No Objection Certificate (NOC) as they wanted that 30-second sequence to be corrected.
Getting the NOC from IAF after correction was too late to send prints overseas, which compelled the makers to postpone release from Sep 16 to Sep 23. The actress, who made her debut in acting with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor, describes Mausam as her first true love story.
"I have never done a perfect love story. The film is about two people who want to be together.
Here both of them love each other. I have never done a love story where both of them love each other," said the actress who featured in films like Delhi-6 , I Hate Luv Storys , Aisha and Thank You .
Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, is confident she would sustain long in the industry. "I know that I am here to stay.
I work very hard and hopefully I would be here for a long time," said the 26-year-old. Tweet
(less)Shahid traces decade-long journey
.Shahid Kapoor rewinds to life 10 years back when he was just one among the thousands vying to find a place in Bollywood.
And an actor father was no bonus, says the 30-year-old, whose progression from a chocolate boy hero to a mature actor is subtly reflected in his latest release, Mausam . "Ten years back, I was dreaming to being where I am today," Shahid told IANS in an interview as he sat back to recall his journey.
His career as an actor started with him playing the cute lover boy in Ishq Vishk in 2003. Mausam , which marks the directorial debut of his father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, features Shahid as Harinder Singh - a young, fun-loving boy who grows up to be an aware, mature and confident individual.
It's almost as if Mausam showcases Shahid's transition in Bollywood. "I'm glad this reflects! I remember when I sat down with dad, he said 'Beta, I want to show you not just in one shade, I want to show different aspects of you as an actor'.
So that was the effort with Mausam ," he said. Shahid admits he was confused initially, but knows what he wants now.
"A decade back, I was running around trying to get myself any kind of a role, going to different places, and auditioning and being rejected. I was trying to make my body and just trying to get a break anyhow.
Then Ishq Vishk happened. "When I started off, I didn't really know anything.
I just had a lot of love and passion for acting. I knew acting was what I loved the most in the world.
But I got confused. The first four or five years of my career, I was very confused - I didn't know what was right, what was wrong.
There was no one to guide, nobody to tell me. "Although my father is an actor, he wasn't the hero in films.
Besides, he always told me that I need to make my own mistakes and learn from what I am doing. So I went through this whole phase of trying to understand what the right thing to do is," Shahid said, and heaved a sigh.
And then? "Then one day, I came up with a very simple solution - do what you want to do, do what you love doing! Forget about what would work, what wouldn't work, and what is supposed to work. I started doing films that excited me, films I believed in, and that's when my career started taking some kind of shape.
"I started this process about four or five years back, and now I am very happy and fortunate to be where I am today. I'm very satisfied with the kind of work I am doing.
But I have a long way to go," said the actor, who went on to feature in films like Vivah, Jab We Met, Kaminey and Badmaash Company . Like each of his films, Mausam has been a learning experience for him.
"I completely let myself go as an actor for Mausam . I just blindly followed whatever my father said and that itself was a new experience for me.
I'll do that a lot more often because I think it brings out new things in you as an actor. "I've learnt that the father is always right - as much as you discuss and argue, he is the boss! And because I was closely associated with the film as dad was directing it, my understanding of what happens behind the camera has gone up a lot more because my exposure to it was so much more," he said.
So is direction ever going to be on Shahid's agenda? "No, no, no! Not at all. I've seen my father go through too much stress making this film.
I have no interest in direction. So not at all!" he said, flashing his million-dollar smile, which could make any girl skip a heartbeat.

(less)Katrina Kaif slaps Imran Khan 16 times!
But to the actor's misfortune, Katrina took more than 16 takes to get the slap right! "We did that scene 16 times..
. 16 takes and finally the packup happened," Imran told reporters here.
"Next day when I came onto the sets for the next scene, I was told that Katrina is not very happy with the scene that we did yesterday so she wants to shoot it again, only the slapping part. So we did more takes," he added.
A much-amused Katrina justified herself by saying that she is quite a perfectionist. "I take a while to get into the mood of the scene.
The first time I slapped him, I didn't get the feel right. It's important to be convinced with the scene you are doing.
So till the time it wasn't perfect, we did it," she added. Yash Raj Films' "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" is a love triangle that also stars Pakistani actor-musician Ali Zafar.
Imran, who is playing a central character in the film, also revealed that initially he didn't want to be part of the film. "Aditya Chopra had called me last year and told me that I want you to meet this boy Ali.
He is directing his first film and has a lot of talent. Then I met Ali and he told me that I'm making a film called 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'.
I didn't say anything but I thought ..
. 'What a horrible title'.
"Then he told me that it's a story of this guy who finds a girl for his brother and then himself falls in love with her. So I thought that it sounds like such a bad story.
I didn't tell him all this, but just said that I will call him," narrated Imran. It was actually Imran's mother, actor Aamir Khan's sister, who egged him on to take up the project.
"I did not read the script, but my mom found the script and read it. She called me and told me that I should read the script and do this film because it is hilarious.
So I read it, I loved it and finally decided to do it. His script just won me over.
Initially I was not doing it, but now I'm so glad that I did it," added Imran. Watch Video'+'';} else {tmpdiV="";} var b1=""; var b2=""; var hid="526"; if(sldemsidcnt>1){imglinksh='View Images';}else{imglinksh='View Image';} var b2 = ''+''+ capt +''+ tmpdiV +''; bellyad.

(less)I don?t have to impress a woman - Mumbai Mirror
So there might be things that I agreed with earlier and do not agree to now. If you are saying fame or power could change somebody, I don’t believe that.
I think that money, fame and power make you the person you are. Before that the person is a jhuka hua aadmi.
He is a humble man. Did you never feel like attempting serious cinema? If you look at my characters Radhe in Tere Naam and Inspector Arjun Ranavat in Garv: Pride and Honour, you’ll realise that I have done serious cinema.
But why would I want to do a French film when I am doing Hindi films? People go to a theatre to watch a film because they want to have fun. Why would I want to give them a rona-dhona film? For me movies are real life enlarged and enhanced.
I can do stuff in movies which I can’t do in real life. It’s like taking real life to a different level.
Considering you’ve had several romantic relationships, what according to you is the one thing that women want from a man? A woman would want her man to be charming, lovable, and sweet. She would want flowers, chocolates and candlelit dinners.
But a lot of women today prefer to be practical and may not want their man to present them with all those things..
. Oh do you know any woman like that? No.
..
it’s not true. It’s all in theory.
In reality they love to have all of the above. If you have to impress a woman, how would you go about it? I don’t have to impress a woman.
If you try to impress a woman you are being the man you are not. It is bound to turn around and whack you in the face.
Be yourself. Don’t do things that you will not be able to do in your relationship after a point of time.
Moving on..
. Salman’s body has always been drooled over.
How do you maintain it? Do you avoid any kind of food? I exercise a little more than I eat. And I eat a lot.
I don’t avoid oil or fried food. I eat everything except pork and beef.
Are friendships in the film industry fickle? It depends on the kind of bond you have formed with a person. If it’s not work related, it generally lasts long.
If it’s work related, it can go either way. Mohnish Behl, Sanjay Dutt, Aamir Khan, Sajid Nadidwala.
..
all are good friends. Shah Rukh Khan used to be friend.
Was that friendship (SRK) work related? I have no idea buddy..
.you ask him that question.
Are relationships fickle too? No, relationships are not fickle. If that thing is meant to be, that person will be there.
If its not meant to be, it won’t. How do you rate yourself as a lover, actor and friend? (Looks puzzled) How can I rate myself? You ask this question to my lovers, audience and friends.
Your new movie Bodyguard is going to release soon. Your bodyguard Shera has been with you for more than 15 years.
How much of the film is inspired by Shera. What kind of an equation do you share with him? (Salman chooses not to answer the question.
Instead he shouts out for Shera, cursing him). Sheraa.
..
Sheraaa..
joota phenk ke maarunga tujhe. (Then he turns slowly with a telling look about him.
He is waiting to see if we have understood the ‘equation’. Yes, we have.
Very well, in fact). The most important thing about a bodyguard is trust.
I have spent more time with him than with my family. He knows how I am.
I trust him. Shera calls me ‘maalik’.
So I have taken that from him for the film. I call my boss ‘maalik’ in the film.
Has he (Shera) ever got you in a spot? Lots of times. Once at an event, there was a huge crowd.
Shera was trying to get me through. A cop, who was wearing civil clothes and was there along with his family, got pushed.
And then it became an ego issue. The cop created a big ruckus.
Nobody got seriously hurt and I didn’t blame Shera for it because he was just doing his job

Tweet

Its great to have him back, he is a promising actor." Karan has maintained his take on Imran from day one.
Imran reciprocated by stating, "It's wonderful to be back. I am pampered every time I work with Dharma, in fact I am taken for granted when I work with family but these guys are really great.

(less)Exhibition Of Kareena's pics by Imran Khan
There are now about a 100 pictures Imran personally took of Kareena. "I find Kareena one of the most beautiful actresses that we have.
When I was looking at her through viewfinder, I realised that camera loves her. People who have seen these pictures keep saying that I am a good photographer, but actually it is her beauty and versatility of her face which is doing the trick," said Imran.
Directed by first-timer Shakun Batra , the film's first trailer was released with "The Dirty Picture" and it is expected to come out around Valentine's Day. The exhibition of Imran's pics of Kareena is now being planned
(less)I find Kareena extremely beautiful: Imran Khan

Apparently, the pictures are of a very high quality. Imran confessed to Mumbai Mirror, "I find Kareena extremely beautiful.
When I was looking at her through the viewfinder, I realised that the camera loves her." Friends and wellwishers are reportedly encouraging Imran to exhibit these photographs.

(less)Piracy check for Bodyguard
This essentially means that in no way can anyone illegally copy the movie. And as far as physical piracy (pirated DVDs) is concerned, the movie's team is conducting across all known piracy hubs in the country, including Delhi's notorious Palika Bazaar.
The movie's producer Atul Agnihotri told DT, "We have found a few thousand jackets of the movie that have already been printed and realised that this can kill the prospect of a movie. Therefore, the step to nip piracy in the bud was imperative.
" Sanjay Tandon, VP, anti piracy at Reliance Entertainment, agreed with Agnihotri and told us, "We've taken a pre-emptive measure by getting this order. While we know of certain entities that do this, we do not know of many others who indulge in such acts.
This order ensures that whenever we catch someone, we don't have to get into the rigmarole of filing a civil case. We can simply seek punishment, which ranges between one week to three years of imprisonment, along with fine ranging between `50,000 and `2,00,000.
" Earlier too, Reliance had sought the same order during the release of the Ajay Devgn starrer "Singham", with a view to minimise losses through piracy. Says Tandon, "In the case of "Singham", it was pirated 40% less than it would have been, had we not taken the order.
For "Bodyguard", we are hoping to cut down piracy by 50-60%. Piracy cannot be eradicated, but it certainly can be curtailed.
For the same reason, we are conducting extensive raids across the country at known piracy hubs." The step taken by the producers of "Bodyguard" comes in the wake of the severe piracy that has impacted Bollywood in recent times.
Unofficial figures estimate the worth of the industry at `4,000 crore. To deal with it, last year, director Sajid Khan had announced that his movie "Housefull" was being released with an in-built anti-piracy software.
Anti-piracy raids were also conducted at the time of the release of "I Hate Luv Storys", since the movie lost `20 lakh to piracy in its opening weekend
(less)Imran Khan not in favour of remakes
If I feel that I loved a particular movie, then I would like to see the hero of that film only doing that role. I watch 'Sholay' for Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
I wouldn't like anyone else doing that," the 28-year-old told IANS. He has similar thoughts about sequels.
"Sometimes people make sequels unnecessarily..
.just because the film has worked.
If it has a scope, like if it's an action film or a superhero film, then I can understand. But it should not be made without a reason," he said the actor who has done films like "Jaane Tu.
..
Yaa Jaane Na", "I Hate Luv Storys", "Break Ke Baad" and "Delhi Belly". On his professional front, Imran is looking forward to the release of "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan"
(less)Imran Khan plays the good husband
Says the actor, "The honeymoon was more relaxing than exciting! But I did play the good husband and carried Avantika's shopping bags." Well, no one said marriage was easy! Interestingly, his next releases have a lot to do with the M-word Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Short Term Shaadi .
He adds, "If you think I Hate Love Stories (with actress Sonam Kapoor) was filmy, MBKD is even more exaggerated. I never thought would be able to do such a filmy role, but it was fun.
" There is another issue, however, that's keeping the actor busy these days. And it has nothing to do with his onscreen escapades.
Before the release of Delly Belly , Imran had made a promise to the youth of the country that he would take on the Maharashtra government against the new law that increased the age limit for alcohol consumption to 25 years. His film came, was not just declared a hit, but also the most defining work of his career.
..
in the bargain everyone conveniently forgot about his much-hyped Public Interest Litigation (PIL) plans. Fortunately, it looks like the actor is staying true to his word.
He says, "An announcement will be made within the next four to five days on that front. There is major development happening, which I can't really reveal as of now.
" Well, hopefully, before the release of his next film his fans under 25 will have something to say cheers about! Tweet
(less)I’ve shown boys the middle finger: Sonam Kapoor
..
says actor Sonam Kapoor , in defence of the clip in her latest film that has been censored, which shows her giving someone the finger She can easily be described as the candid Kapoor, with her penchant for telling it like it is. In a chat with BT, Sonam talks about her Hollywood aspirations, reuniting with Abhay Deol onscreen and more.
We will see you in a different avatar in your upcoming film. Tell us what it was like playing this outspoken character.
Every character is a challenge and this was just fun. I am outspoken as a person and I just had to take how I am in real life and make it larger than life.
The script was so beautifully written that there wasn't much that I needed to do. In terms of styling, we padded the character a lot.
There was uproar over the middle-finger scene in the film, which has been blurred by the Censor Board. I think it is no big deal.
It is a part of our lingo and most youngsters do it these days. I have shown it to a lot of boys back home who tried to act smart (laughs) with me.
You said recently that you don't have a bikini body. How did that come about? Everybody just went on how hot I am and that I should wear a bikini.
Honestly, I was just being modest. I don't have Bipasha's body.
Will you don a bikini sometime soon, as it is the flavour of the season? I always do things that are not the flavour of the season. And that's why people like me.
Mausam, despite being a great story, did not do well at the box office. Were you disappointed? I am used to people loving what I do in a film, and the film itself not doing well.
I have three films that have done really, really well, so three out of six is not so bad and hopefully, my next film will even out the odds. After the success of I Hate Luv Storys, director Punit Malhotra has planned another film with you and Shahid in mind.
..
Yes, I heard about that, but I'm not doing Punit's film. Will you be reuniting with Abhay Deol soon onscreen? A couple of directors have offered us scripts for films that feature us together, but Raj Kumar Santoshi's is the best.
It's so much fun and I am dying to do this film. It's only Abhay and me talking throughout the film and it's brilliant.
There were differences between your father and Abhay Deol. Any comments? No comment, because it was between my father and Abhay.
How was your meeting with Tom Cruise ? He is so beautiful looking, very sweet and it was lovely interacting with someone who is so modest and down-to-earth. He looks you in the eye, and gives you that much attention.
Your father has already consolidated his position in Hollywood. Do you also have Hollywood aspirations? I have aspirations to conquer the world.
Let's see what happens. There must have been discussions about a Hollywood debut for you after your meeting with Tom.
..
It doesn't work like that. You audition for roles and you get them, just like in Bollywood.
Critics have taken digs at your father's cameo in Mission: Impossible 4..
. He always said it was a cameo.
My dad has been in the industry for 30 years. I don't think anybody has done the kind of roles he's done.
The exposure he's gotten in M:I4 is amazing. I think most critics are just jealous.
Who do you count as your friends in the industry? Asin. (pauses) And Jacqueline (Fernandez)
(less)Early detection saves lives: Anil Kapoor
Both women were extremely close to his daughter Sonam, who was devastated when she heard about the diagnosis. Here, the actor talks about the traumatic events and why it's important to spread the message and create awareness of breast cancer.
"Family means everything to me. I am fortunate to be surrounded by three beautiful, independent and intelligent women - my wife Sunita and my two daughters Sonam and Rhea.
Nothing is more important to me than their health and well-being. Even if they come down with a cold or the flu it affects my state of mind.
I make it a priority to ensure that we as a family do everything in our capacity to lead a healthy life. Discussions about health and well-being, exercise and nutrition are common in my household.
One piece of information that Sonam recently shared with me caught my attention. She informed me that one in every 16 women in India is diagnosed with breast cancer today.
I was alarmed by this statistic, not realising how rampant this disease is. I also learnt that the old adage 'prevention is better than cure' is apt for this disease - early detection is key to fighting breast cancer.
Two of my close relatives have battled with breast cancer in the past. One was detected early and the recovery was full; unfortunately in the other case, the detection happened too late and we lost her.
Losing this close family member was very traumatic for all of us, especially Sonam, because she was extremely attached to her. This has really made her even more passionate about the cause.
I feel that we make so much effort to plan our financial future but don't do the same for our well-being. We only visit the doctor when something is wrong.
This has to change. It is a shame to lose a loved one simply because one sought medical intervention too late.
Early detection saves lives. I feel all men should be made aware of breast cancer and the simple steps they can take to ensure the future well-being of the women in their family - the most important one being regular check ups.
I am thankful to Sonam, Rhea and Sunita for making me aware of this issue. My life is so complete because of them.
