Kareena looks good only with me: Saif
After working with Saif in Tashan and Kurbaan , she will be seen with him again in the upcoming Agent Vinod , set for release March 23. "Kareena looks good with me and there is no comparison! Apart from me, I don't see anybody (with whom she looks good)," Saif told reporters here on the sidelines of the first poster launch of his production Agent Vinod .
Kareena, the leading lady of the spy thriller, was missing from the event Wednesday. Saif explained: "We had to divide to conquer.

she will be seen in future promotional activities for the film." The first poster of the movie features only Saif in it.
However, he promises that unlike other action films, the actress has a justified role in his film too. "Kareena has a very strong role in the film.
She has done justice to the role and the role has also done justice to her," Saif said. The shooting of Agent Vinod , directed by Sriram Raghavan, took a while.
And Saif denies rumours that the delay ensued due to budget hassles. "The film taking time to complete are the reports given by media.
There were lots of rumours that the film is getting delayed, it's getting over the budget..
. everything was just a rumour.
Films take time," he said. He guarantees that the wait will be worth it, as he said: "The kind of action and locations that we have chosen, I have not seen in much movies.
The film must have taken a longer time, but it does not matter as long as the product is interesting." The film is said to have dollops of action, but Kareena wasn't too comfortable with it.
"She doesn't like doing action, but she is very good at it. She gives pretty intense expressions.
As far as I am concerned, I thought it (action) would be fun, but it was very frightening. It's not easy," said Saif.
Besides the unique action sequences, Agent Vinod will also have a "different" item song, a mujra picturised on Kareena. "We thought let's go a different way and try something different in terms of expression.
I believe even Dinesh Vijan was pushing for a mujra..

(less)Saif Ali Khan surrenders, charged with assault, granted bail
According to reports, he was questioned, charged with assault and then granted bail. Earlier, the actor got into a scuffle in a five star hotel restaurant last night and apparently punched a man in his face and broke his nose.
A case under section 325 of the IPC had been registered against Saif. The incident took place last night at Wasabi restaurant, Taj Hotel when he, along with Kareena, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak and a few friends, were having dinner.
Iqbal M Sharma, a temporary resident of Juhu, was sitting with his family at an adjoining table. According to reports, Iqbal complained about the clamour that Saif and his friends made.
This ticked off Saif and a scuffle broke between the two. Saif, reportedly, told Iqbal to go to a library to find quiet.
Some reports suggested that the fight actually broke between Amrita Arora Ladak's husband Shakeel Ladak and Iqbal. But it was only when Saif intervened that he got into a brawl with Iqbal.
Post the scuffle, Iqbal lodged a complaint that Saif and two of his associates assaulted him with fist blows, causing fracture to his nose. A case has been registered against the actor with the Colaba police station.
According to Times Now, Iqbal M Sharma is the deputy director of department of trade & investment, South Africa. He is a South African national of Indian origin.
Iqbal told Times Now that Saif and his friends abused him and his father-in-law verbally and assaulted them physically. Hawaldar Welkar of the Colaba Police station in Mumbai confirmed the news and told us, "Yes, a case was registered against Saif Ali Khan by Iqbal Sharma , last night for some fight that took place between them in Hotel Taj last night.
Rest of the details are with my boss ACP Iqbal Sheikh." When contacted ACP Iqbal Sheikh said, "We are conducting an inquiry into the matter and we will be questioning every one involved in this case.
If required we will be arresting who ever is at fault." Meanwhile the people at Wasabi refused to comment on the incident.
Pankaj Singh , the floor manager at the Wasabi said, "I wasn't here last night so I don't know about anything that happened at the restaurant nor have I heard anything from anyone here."

(less)I was abused, assaulted: Saif Ali Khan
I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law-abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces.
I think they have the CCTV footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided.

(less)I'm not competing with Salman Khan: Kulraj Randhawa
Her character is shown to be fearless, bubbly and extremely talkative."I play a dabangg girl, she doesn't care what she is getting into.
But I am not competing with Salman Khan, he remains the original dabangg," she states, flashing her dimpled smile. "Everybody wants to have a piece of Chandni because she is happy and always ready to help others.
She has the best of solutions for everything. Her energy is so infectious that everybody wants to fall in love with her," says the actress about her character.
But she adds that playing Chandni wasn't easy. "Chandni had to be loveable yet not irritating.
She is innocent yet funny, witty and sharp. So while I had to strike the right balance, I didn't want to overact either.
Also, I didn't ape any actress who has played a similar role in the past," explains the actress. It was veteran actor Anupam Kher and his acting school that helped her get into the character.
"I was working with a huge cast with several senior actors. It was not just about playing the lead but essaying the title role of someone who binds the characters together," Kulraj adds Produced and directed by Samir Karnik, Chaar Din Ki Chandni is slated to release on March 9
(less)B'town filmakers turn ad maker
Tremendous control over the medium has enabled Bollywood to get some big bucks from a talented lot of ad filmmakers who turned directors and vice versa. Now the tables have turned and how! Filmmakers Abhinay Deo, Dibakar Banerjee, Imtiaz Ali, Tarun Mansukhani, Bejoy Nambiar and Rajkumar Hirani are also directing TVCs even as they continue their B-Town stint.
Imtiaz directed Neetu Kapoor and Jimmy Shergill in a bank ad, Tarun Mansukhani directed Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar in a paint commercial, Dibakar directed Imran Khan in a cola ad, Hirani directed Sharman Joshi in a soft drink ad and Bejoy directed MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi in a bike ad. Abhinay says, "Filmmaking is about how the fat is thrown out and the meat is presented to the audiences.
We can't afford to splurge in advertising. Ad filmmakers understand nuances like color coordination well.
And most importantly content comes first, technique comes later." Says adman Prahlad Kakar, "While ad filmmakers are more educated than regular Bollywood filmmakers and more professional, when a Bollywood filmmaker directs an ad, their connection with celebs comes to the platter of ad filmmaking.
Actors don't throw starry tantrums with known filmmakers when they do an ad." Abhinay however refutes the claim and says as an ad filmmaker he never tries "to consciously work with celebs.
In that case, the celeb becomes the script and the ad has no further scope." R Balki, a creative director of a leading ad agency feels, "The mindset of a person watching an ad and a film is different.
Otherwise both the mediums involve storytelling and they are not very different. Ad films teach you to communicate a concept and if it is about big bucks then ad filmmaking is also about big bucks.
" Well, as along as viewers get wholesome entertainment in a 30 second TVC with a starry cast and tampered with some master storytelling and smart packaging, it's a win-win situation for everyone involved
(less)Saif Ali Khan arrested for assaulting businessman, released on bail
A battery of top police officers were waiting for the actor, besides the media and scores of fans outside the police station. In the afternoon, police sent a team to Saif's house and after failing to locate him there, had ordered him to appear before it as early as possible.
Saif was virtually declared 'wanted' for assaulting South African NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma , who is also the director general and CEO of the Trade, Industry & Investments of South Africa. The actor has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly assaulting Sharma in the Taj Mahal Hotel around 1 am on Wednesday morning.
Police said a case of assault had been registered at the Colaba police station. After his release the actor in a statement said, "There was an ugly incident last night where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted.
I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I think they have the cc tv footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided.
I don't think any gentleman would have behaved differently" Police are also questioning staff at the hotel and examining the CCTV footage. Legal experts that the offences for which Saif has been booked are bailable.
Sharma told Times Now television that Saif called him an "idiot" for complaining about the actor's loud conduct at a restaurant in the Taj Mahal Hotel. He said he and his family had requested the restaurant manager to ask Saif and his friends, which included Kareena, Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora Khan, to keep their voices down.
Sharma said he and his family decided to move to another part of the restaurant downstairs. "As we were going down the stairs, Saif was coming up, probably from the toilet.
As he passed me, he called me an idiot and asked 'Do you know who I am?'" Sharma said the actor first pushed him and then assaulted his father-in-law who fell on the stairs and bruised his jaw. "It was an uncivilized way to behave in a public space," Sharma said, adding that he intended to pursue the matter legally.
A police officer confirmed that Sharma and his guests had objected to the noise created by Saif and his friends. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
Saif has been involved in public spats earlier too, including some photojournalists in Patiala in September 2008. The actor has won the Padma Shri award, which did not go down well with the Bishnoi community in Rajasthan as he is accused of killing a blackbuck -- an animal the Bishnois hold sacred.
Saif was charged with poaching as the blackbuck is on the endangered list

(less)Agent Vinod still not ready
Earlier, the film was scheduled for a December 9, 2011 release. However, a delay in the shoot got it postponed to February 2012.
According to sources, the revised February 17 release date is all set to go under further revision. When contacted, director Sriram Raghavan, who was busy with a patch work shoot for the film at Filmcity revealed, "We are in the middle of post production.
" Our source from the postproduction house Prime Focus however had a different story to tell. "Prime Focus has still not received the complete footage of the film.
" Speaking about the release date, Raghavan added, "Our producer Saif Ali Khan will return from his shoot in South Africa by tomorrow. The release date will then be discussed and an announcement will be made in a couple of days.
" According to trade experts, a February release will not work for the film with leading lady Kareena's Ek Main Aur Ek Tu releasing that time. March and April generally sees very few releases owing to the various school and college exams held during that period.
This is followed by IPL. This means that fans will have to wait for at least another six months to see Agent Vinod

(less)Saif reveals wedding plans to NDTV
Agent Vinod releases on February 10, 2012 and Saif Ali Khan has said they will make an announcement after that. The Omkara star's impending marriage to Kareena Kapoor has been making headlines ever since the day Saif and Kareena declared their relationship is for keeps.
The actor said the he doesn't want to talk about his relationship with Kareena as it tends to shift focus from films and makes headlines for all the wrong reasons. "It (the marriage) is something that I look forward to next year.
It's just that in my experience whenever we talk about it beyond that it tends to become the headline and all our hardwork of trying to create an interesting film and chemistry falls flat and it becomes about the wedding, which is something that I respect and I'd like to discuss after this film is out of our way, so we'll talk about that next year sometime. Agent Vinod is scheduled to release on 10th February, 2012 and Saif was only too excited to ask everyone to remember the date.
On another note, the actor was quizzed about Kareena's look in her upcoming film and if the nawab preferred her doing mujra in Agent Vinod vis--vis being Shah Rukh's Chammak Challo . "I think variety is the spice of an actor's life.
When we started out we were going to have a rocking item song in the movie but (we realised) an item song these days is pretty run-of-the-mill. I think this film has got a destiny of its own and it's very lucky in that way.
" "I don't like to call her 'lucky'. I think she is a tremendous artist and she lends a lot of class to the screen and is one of the best actors I've worked with," Saif said on being asked if Bebo is every actor's lucky mascot at the box office.
He was, however, quick to add on a lighter note that action "is not her thing". Tweet

She was very very good while doing it (stunts)," Saif maintained. Last year, Kareena had injured herself while shooting in New Delhi for a high-octane stunt sequence for the film.
Interestingly, even Saif had a tough time doing action and ended hurting himself quite often. "As far as me doing action, I thought it would be fun but every inch of my body was bruised and coloured in some amazing purple, yellow blotches.

(less)I'm too old for lovey-dovey roles: Saif Ali Khan
' His latest spy-thriller Agent Vinod being the first move towards becoming more 'macho' than Saif has ever been known for. He says, "Well I don't know if action's been my forte, but it's something that is interesting me at this point in time.
Films like Agent Vinod and Race 2 excite me more than say a Love Aaj Kal . While I'm respective and appreciative of the roles that have given me the success and credibility, at this age I think I would like to do something more strong and mature.
" Growing up Considering it's an image that's working like magic for his fellow Khans, it's no surprise that Saif's keen on treading the same path. However, for the actor who has grown up on Clint Eastwood and Paul Newman action thrillers, Bollywood films are still too romanticised to depict reality.
He adds, "In America they like complicated situations, grey characters, real issues. For us, even today, we love heroes.
For example, Sriram's (Raghavan) last film with me, Ek Haseena Thi had some level of grit and realism to it. But it still wasn't as much compared to international films.
I don't think we are particularly honest about portraying reality in our films and they have left us behind in that space." Action-packed So how 'real' is Agent Vinod ? "Well, he is a hero too and he loves his country, but not in an I-will-die-for-the-nation kind of way.
He is more irreverent and cynical in his ways. What's interesting is that he still has the girls, the machine guns and his plans to escape, but not necessarily in that order.
That's where Sriram will surprise you." Interestingly, for Saif's real life girlfriend, none of these matter, as long as she did not have to jump off skyscrapers.
He adds, "Kareena would do a Jab We Met any day as compared to an Agent Vinod . But she does look good in whatever little action she has had to do.
com/PhotoDetail.aspx?ID=12349 And lastly though Vinod has his way with many girls, Saif most definitely is a one-woman man.

We have our own space, he does his own thing. We don't even discuss work and I don't think he has ever asked me which film I am doing.
He probably gets to know from the newspapers and magazines (laughs). If I am in a meeting, he doesn't even ask me who I had a meeting with.
He is the most supportive man I could have asked for." And all those who feel that Bebo is jealous of her beau's leading ladies, especially Deepika Padukone , with who he has done the maximum number of films, Bebo clears that, too.
"I encourage Saif to work with everybody. He is free to work with whoever he wants to, it is not my concern.

She is very good in the film," Saif said. Kareena may not be a trained Kathak dancer but she underwent vigorous training to be perfect for doing a mujra (an elaborate dance form developed in medieval era) in Agent Vinod , he said.
"We have a classic mujra which we haven't seen in a long time. It is again a decision that we after took a lot of thinking; should we do an item, should we get another big star and do something really hot.
But most Hindi films today have hot songs. Hot in terms of outfits they are wearing and the presentation of the camera.
" "So we thought we will go in a slightly different way and try and make it different in terms of music, expression. I believe Dinesh Vijan (co-producer) was also pushing for mujra than a raunchy kind of item song.
We need to make our item a little different, so we did this," he revealed. The Sriram Raghavan-directed venture, which was beset with problems in its early stages, will finally release on March 23.

Kareena would be seen next in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Ra.One , a science-fiction film, which will hits cinema houses on October 26.
It will be followed by Agent Vinod , an action-thriller with her beau Saif Ali Khan that will release on December 9. "Shah Rukh has given me such a wonderful film and I am looking forward to my next festive release which is Ra.
One which I believe, will be one of the biggest hits," Kareena said. Kareena will next be seen in Reema Kagti's untitled film with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee, to be released in January 2012 and Karan Johar's romantic-comedy, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu with Imran Khan to be released on February 10.

(less)For Saif and Kareena family comes first
Also, he was to come to town for the polo tournament so Saif decided to spend some quality time with Kareena too. Sometime ago he had come to Bangkok all the way from London, where he was shooting to meet Kareena.
It was a 12-hour journey but Saif was determined to go. This year Kareena flew down to London and whisked Saif off to Paris for a birthday celebration.
She had specially requested his producer Dinesh Vijan for some time off for Saif. Whenever both have time they fly down to where the other is shooting and spend time together.
" Kareena says, "Yes Saif did come back for from South Africa. It was important for both of us to be at the polo match as it was the first year after Saif's father passed away.
He came back for that. We also spent some time together after the polo match as both of us have been shooting for our individual films - he for Cocktail and me for Heroine so we didn't have time to meet for some time.
For us, it's always been family first."
Even though he absolutely refuses to divulge anything more. "It's so difficult to do an interview without getting personal.
You can ask all you want but I won't talk about the marriage!" Tweet
(less)Saif Ali Khan promotes 'Agent Vinod' in Ferrari
"Agent Vinod is a spy-action film and there are many car-chases so I asked my director if we could have a flashy car in that too," Saif told Gulf News adding that he took several lessons to master the art of making car-chase sequences look authentic on-screen. "Apart from learning how to drive cars and bikes fast, I learnt how to jump off high buildings too," he said.
He travelled to Vietnam to learn martial arts in preparation for his stunt-filled role in the film, also starring girlfriend Kareena Kapoor . "It's not Mr And Mrs Smith and it's not a cheesy Bond rip-off.
It is about a RAW agent who has his own personality. Yes, it has influences from various films - it's a little bit Bond, little bit Jason Bourne and a little bit 24 and Tin Tin.
But it is also original," said Saif. He also said he would never do a role on the lines of what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did in spy-drama 'Mr & Mrs Smith'.
"It just doesn't make sense for Kareena and I to do such a role in India. I think she has done a wonderful job with the action.
She said she doesn't like doing action but she is very good at it," he told the newspaper. Agent Vinod , which is co-produced by Saif and Dinesh Vijan, is expected to release in 2,500 screens in India and over 700 screens overseas
(less)Kareena looks good only with me: Saif
After working with Saif in Tashan and Kurbaan , she will be seen with him again in the upcoming Agent Vinod , set for release March 23. "Kareena looks good with me and there is no comparison! Apart from me, I don't see anybody (with whom she looks good)," Saif told reporters here on the sidelines of the first poster launch of his production Agent Vinod .
Kareena, the leading lady of the spy thriller, was missing from the event Wednesday. Saif explained: "We had to divide to conquer.
..
she will be seen in future promotional activities for the film." The first poster of the movie features only Saif in it.
I believe even Dinesh Vijan was pushing for a mujra..
. we needed to make our item a little bit different," said Saif.

(less)February engagement for Kareena?
. Wedding of Bollywood actors is news of public interest and thus an overdose of speculation is guaranteed.
News of Rani Mukherjee getting married every six months, John Abraham getting secretly married every now and then is common. Kareena-Saif marriage is another 'popular news'.
Its now said, the two are planning to get engaged on Feb 10. The day will also see the release of Kareena's film 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'.
When we met up Kareena a few days back, she told TOI.com, "Yes we are definitely thinking of marriage but it all depends on our film commitments.
I am busy promoting Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, then Agent Vinod and also shooting for Heroine. So all depends on when's the right time.
" The actress also denied of Ritu Kumar designing her wedding outfit. "That's not true" she said.
The wedding news has put both Saif and Kareena in spotlight. "I am only asked about the marriage.
No one seems interested in our films anymore" laughed Kareena
(less)Kareena and I are extremely compatible: Saif
Kareena had always maintained that she and Saif would tie the knot in 2012 but there was some confusion if it would be early 2012 or end of the year. Saif's mother Sharmila Tagore has also declared that her son is planning to marry Kareena "very soon.
" The plan was to get married after the release of Saif's home production Agent Vinod, which was to release on December 9 but the film got delayed, which sparked speculation that the wedding would be postponed. Saif confirms, "Kareena and I will definitely get married by early next year.
We plan to get married in February 2012 after Agent Vinod releases, but if the film's release gets delayed we will still get married by March. We won't postpone the marriage beyond that anymore.
" He adds, "Kareena is a wonderful girl and we are extremely compatible. My family and she have always got along well.
We share the same values in life, love each other completely and I want to spend more time with her. I am looking forward to the marriage now.
" The wedding at Pataudi Palace will be a traditional and grand one, attended by the couple's family and friends
(less)I'm not getting married: Kareena Kapoor
. Actress Kareena Kapoor , who is only too happy, to have been the first to star opposite all the Khans and is on cloud nine that her movies are doing well at the box office, says she is in a happy phase of life.
After all the actress is all set to tie the knot in February 2012, right? "Wrong!" says the Bebo! "It's great that people have set my wedding date, have designed my wedding dress and planned my honeymoon without me being aware of it! It's flattering, but no, I'm not getting married, yet!" On further pushing, Kareena said, "Saif and I are happily in love and happy with each other; We are taking our time. And I assure you, nothing - absolutely nothing - is fixed as yet: no marriage date, no marriage dress, nothing!" Kareena says the next big thing she is looking forward to is Agent Vinod.
"It's a special film. The movie is made on a huge canvas.
I am hoping it'll be my next hit. Our fingers are crossed.
We have worked so hard on it. Let's hope the effort is worth it," she signs off
(less)Strong men never take tips from girlfriends: Saif
The 41-year-old actor, who walked as a show-stopper for designer Mandira Wirk at the ongoing Blenders Pride fashion tour, was seen wearing a black, sophisticated Band Gala suit with matching shoes. His suit was a perfect tribute to the design inspiration of Wirk who took references from 16th and 18th century Rococo and Baroque style.
Saif, who was looking extremely confident on the ramp, said he was perfectly fine with actress Priyanka Chopra turning down an offer of doing an item number for his upcoming movie Agent Vinod . "I am completely fine with that as most of the actresses do not want to share screen space with Bebo (Kareena Kapoor)," he said.
The actor is reportedly planning to settle down with Kareena next year. On being asked about his marriage plans, he preferred to remain silent, but disclosed his wedding outfit.
"Since I belong to Bhopal, I will definitely wear an achka ," Saif said. Tweet

We all will let you know about the same as we all want the whole world..
. everyone to enjoy the moment," Kareena's sister, actress Karishma Kapoor, told reporters at an event here.
Even Kareena had said a few days back that she and her beau Saif are waiting for the release of Agent Vinod to announce their wedding. Agent Vinod is an upcoming action-thriller starring Saif and Kareena.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Saif, the film will release in 2012. However, no date has been confirmed yet for the release.
According to some reports, Saif's sister Soha Ali Khan has confirmed that the marriage will happen in March as the release of their home-production film, Agent Vinod has been planned for February 2012. Tweet
(less)Agent Vinod has the potential to cross 100 crore, says Saif Ali Khan
Produced at a cost of Rs 60 crores, the film was completed in 19 months. It will be released in 3,500 screens globally including 2,500 in India on March 23.
Saif, 41, who also plays the lead role in the film, said "it will give value for money," adding, "The film has been produced keeping Indian sentiments in mind." Dinesh said, "It is a fun movie with a very Indian hero.
The film has been shot keeping Indian sensibilities in mind. It is a realistic film but larger than life.
" Describing it as a fast-paced film, Dinesh said the film was shot in 12 countries including Riga, Latvia, Morocco, Russia, Uzbekistan, UK and India. Saif, known for his roles in the cult movie Dil Chahta Hai, Parineeta and Omkara , said he had gone to Vietnam for a couple of weeks to undergo training in action for the film.
He said he did all the stunts himself. "In India we do the stunts and we have good technicians in India.
What we need is good writers." Saif described his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, the heroine of the film as a "phenomenal actor.
She is just made for the film." The film is written and directed by Sriram Raghavan.
Pritam Chakraborty has provided music for the film which will be distributed by Illuminati Films owned by Saif and Eros Entertainment. Tweet
(less)Saif's the most supportive man: Kareena
The Kapoor gal has her plans in place post-shaadi. When asked if she will work at the same pace as she is doing today, she replies candidly, "My career will always be the way it is.
Work is my passion. Saif and I are very urban and contemporary thinking people.
Even I am free to work with whoever I want, Saif never interferes," says Kareena
(less)Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor: When is the wedding really?
However, February 14, 2012 (Valentine's Day), the date on which Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor were meant to be marrying, doesn't seem like a probable date. Reason - here's how the first six months of 2012 pans out for this couple.
..
January 15 they return from Gstaad, Switzerland . January 18 Kareena starts to promote Ek Main aur Ekk Tu and shoot for her commercials.
February 11 EMAET releases. February 14 Saif and Kareena at best can get officially engaged, say sources.
February 20 Second major schedule of Heroine begins. March 10 Saifeena start promoting Agent Vinod that is currently scheduled for a March 23 release.
The film's release has already been postponed twice until now. April 2012 Kareena may take up a new film.
While many say she is in the sequel to Once Upon A Time in Mumbai; insiders say nothing is confirmed. However, Rohit Shetty is keen to start his Chennai Express with her and Shah Rukh Khan.
May 2012 Kareena, Rani Mukherji and Aamir Khan start promotion tours for their June 1 release Talaash. So it looks like Saifeena can marry only after June 1.
Incidentally, it is being said that neither Karan Johar nor Aamir Khan are keen that Bebo gets married before the release of their movies. It may just take away the sheen from their respective films.
"Married heroines are welcome in the industry; but a heroine getting married just before the release is a 'no-no'," says a trade source. punetimes@timesgroup.

(less)Gulshan Grover to Saif's rescue
It was a last minute decision and Junior Nawab needed Gulshan urgently. Putting all celebration on hold, Gulshan took the first flight out of the US and rushed to Mumbai's Filmistan studio, where Kareena Kapoor was shooting a mujra sequence.
Says Gulshan, "I was flattered and happy when Saif and director Sriram Raghavan told me that they rushed me over because they felt only I could do the role. I am also amazed at the passion with which Saif is making this movie.
The detailed work, Sriram's creativity and working with Kareena, with whom I have not worked with for a while, made me feel very special. It is indeed a special appearance for me.

The release date is March 23," said the director known for making thrillers Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddaar . The Kareena-Saif wedding would follow in the last week of March or the first week of April and the next schedule of Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine has been advanced from the end of February to the middle of February to accommodate the promotion and release of Agent Vinod into Kareena's clogged schedule, followed by the wedding and honeymoon.
"After the release of Agent Vinod , the wedding will happen immediately. Kareena and Saif don't want to delay it any more," siad a source.

(less)First weeks get bigger, better
In fact, Bollywood's man of the moment Salman Khan's Bodyguard is reportedly the first Hindi film to have netted the fastest ` 100 crore collection in its first week, going on to add another ` 10-11 crore in the next three days and counting. Before that came Rohit Shetty's Singham that earned around ` 50 crore, Zoya Akhtar's urban bromance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, ` 45 crore, Ready, directed by Anees Bazmee collected ` 68 crore in the first week itself.
Guess what are the formula(s) no.1 for ensuring big bucks in the first week of a film's release? A promotional blitzkrieg (which means deluging the viewer with all possible nuggets about the film, stars making appearances on TV shows/soaps, besides hobnobbing with the audience in multiplexes of urban India), bone-crunching action sequences tempered with sensuous item songs, and releasing the film at the right time (read festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid, Diwali, Dusshera, post-IPL, summer vacations).
Smart filmmakers know how to get the most out of the multiplex audience and the best way to woo them back to the screens. Filmmakers are unapologetic about the ingredients they are using to wow the cinebuffs, - raunchy comedy, kick-ass action, and sensual song-dance sequences.
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty who has hit gold with his Golmaal franchise and Singham, feels that the kind of films he makes, caters to almost 80-90 per cent of the audience in the country. He says, "My budgets are too high to take a risk with my film.
You can't make ` 60 crore films with someone who is not a saleable star. An entertaining film does not have a hit formula today but the first week collections are guaranteed only with a saleable star like Salman or Ajay, and the script is always larger-than-life.
That's how it works." Opening score Bodyguard : 101.
45 crore Ready : 68 crore Singham : 50 crore ZNMD : 45 crore Double dhamaal : 45 crore Delhi Belly : 36.5 crore Murder-2 : 36 crore With giant budgets for promotions and publicity of films, a film is treated like a 'product' when it hits the market.
Says trade analyst Komal Nahta, "The initial hype created about the film and festivals are great audience pullers for a film. When you are releasing a film during Eid or Diwali, the number of people hungry for entertainment is many folds more.
Also the initial bombardment of the film promotions on the viewers is so strong that a film belonging to the three Khans is definitely going to be seen once. It has all to do with excellent promotions, entertaining film with hit music and a festival release.
" But filmmakers disagree that a film works because of its publicity. Says actor Ajay Devgn, "Publicity and promotions are trends that we have to follow because everyone is following them.
All of us are doing the same shows, the same rounds of publicity and the same events, but some films work and some don't (despite them)." Agrees Rohit, "However, great publicity can't really save a bad film.
" Multiplex owners and distributors see hit stars and commercial potboilers as important reasons for the breaking records phenomenon of the first week collections. For the masses, movies are the biggest sources of entertainment and there is no other means to second that.
Says Ashish Saxena, CEO of a popular chain of multiplexes in the country, "A single release (when one film releases during a particular week) of a film also guarantees success specially in the smaller cities, where people have already chosen which films they are going to watch in the weekend. So when it's a long weekend, films are an ideal way to unwind.
With digital cinema penetrating the interiors, piracy is controlled and the collections are huge." Filmmaker Indra Kumar whose Double Dhamaal collected ` 25 crore in the first week, feels that the look and promotions of a film help in the initial collections.
"It's a hit and run game these days. There are 21 shows running in multiplexes today, so obviously a first weekend collection is very important.
In case of the Khans maybe the star value works, but in other films the promos and the first look guarantees the first week collections." According to trade analysts and filmmakers Ra.
One which is slated for a Diwali release and Don 2 (December release) will also break records and gross at the box-office in the coming months. From golden jubilees and silver jubilees, a film is now a jackpot if it sails successfully through the first weekend into the profit zone.
As Bollywood's BO collections get bigger and better, we wonder what kind of returns will soon-to-release biggies like David Dhawan's Rascals (Sanjay Dutt-Kangna Ranaut-Ajay Devgn), Farhan Akhtar's Don 2 (Shah Rukh Khan-Priyanka Chopra), Anubhav Sinha's Ra.One (Shah Rukh Khan-Kareena Kapoor), Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar (Ranbir Kapoor-Nargis Faqkri), Shreeram Raghvan's Agent Vinod (Saif Ali Khan-Kareena), Anurag Basu's Barfee (Ranbir-Priyanka Chopra-Ileana), Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger (Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif), Priyadarshan's Tezz (Ajay Devgn-Anil Kapoor), Maneesh Sharma's Ladies Vs Ricky Behl (Ranveer Singh-Anushka) promise! (less)Saif injured himself on sets
It was a scene which involved shooting at others, who are following him, while riding a jeep. Saif was hanging on the door and shooting while the jeep was going on high speed.
Basically he had to hang on the road of the moving jeep. Suddenly the jeep's speed shot up over 80 km per hour, Saif's arm got pulled badly and he tore a muscle.
It was actually a mistake of the stunt guy who got a bit nervous and drove too fast but Saif, instead of losing his cool, was very sweet to him and just told him to be more careful next time." But Saif didn't want to create any fuss so he balanced the gun and continued to shoot quietly.
"He had torn a muscle in his right arm. Despite being in great pain Saif still managed to complete the scene.
They changed the scene slightly. Instead of him hanging from the jeep the stunt now has him sitting in the seat and shooting.
Saif wants to complete Ageny Vinod on time for release in February next year so he didn't want to cancel the shoot. But towards the end of the day as the medicines wear off, the pain becomes unbearable.
In fact, on the last day of the shoot, after his last shot got over, Saif was in so much pain that they had to cut off his kurta's arm to have a look at it. It had become swollen and blue and a doctor had to be called on the sets to administer some painkillers before Saif could go home.

(less)Agent Vinod is complete Indian hero: Saif Ali Khan
And comparisons with the "James Bond" series are inevitable, says Saif. "Any audience who comes to see the film will think that we have done an Indian James Bond.
This is a very stupid thing to do because firstly, James Bond is a completely English character," he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the first poster of the movie. "From the first scene of the film, you will realise that this is an Indian hero who is very different to the Bond character because we didn't want to make a copy of the Bond film," added Saif.
However, if "Agent Vinod" turns out to be a box office success, Saif might consider making sequels to it, a la the "James Bond" series, of which 22 films have been made so far. The 23rd is in the process of being made.
"If the film does well, it depends on the audience. If the picture becomes popular, then of course we will look forward to making a series," said Saif.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the action-loaded film is slated to release March 23

And then Saif Ali Khan spotted her. Ann Lee will essay the role that Priyanka Chopra was earlier offered in Agent Vinod, alongside Saif and Kareena Kapoor

(less)Agent Vinod flouts the law
In fact, the city police have booked three crewmembers of the film co-produced by Saif's Illuminati Films and Eros International. The arrest of three crewmembers was followed by an apology from Saif, the lead actor and co-producer of the film.
"Saif Ali Khan approached me and apologised for the act of his production staff that defaced the ancient site by painting its old heritage walls and applying cow dung to make it look older still for shooting the climax of the film at Kuldhara. I had told him that the film unit will have to face the penal action and will also have to pay a fine under Rajasthan Monuments, Archaeological Sites and Antiquities Act-1961 and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act," informed Rajasthan tourism, art, culture and archaeology minister Bina Kak.
When contacted, Saif Ali Khan said, "There has been a misunderstanding. We set up an expensive set and we thought we had all the permissions.
Our line producer said so. We aren't stupid to deliberately destroy heritage property.
" According to Kak, the production company had never obtained permission to shoot in the first place. Moreover, they defaced the ancient site and raised structures to suit their shooting requirements without a permission to do so.
Kak said that the state government would permit Saif's production house to shoot the film in any other location than Kuldhara, provided a fresh plea is made to that effect. Explaining the situation, Saif added, "The line producer told us that all that we did was allowed.
We had been creating the set for ten days and no one told us anything. It is a huge set and I wish someone had said something earlier and not come at the last minute.
In this entire bargain, we have lost a lot of money and time. The whole idea is to stay within the law and not do anything wrong.
Binaji has been of great help. She wants things to happen properly and she has helped us in getting other locations in Rajasthan.
" Saif is however, not interested in shooting at the same location any longer. "We will shoot at an alternate location.
People in the cultural ministry have been very helpful." "The permission to shoot would be granted under the prevailing rules and regulations.
The State government would depute its nodal officer to monitor the shoot so that the historic structures are not tampered with in the process," said Kak. While Saif has been assured help by Kak, should he pursue shooting in the area, crewmembers Rajnish Roy, Chandraprakash and local manager Tan Singh Bhati have been booked by the Khuri police station.
"No arrests have been made yet. We have seized the camera, lights and other power equipment of the production company.
We will release all seized material after the investigation is complete. The court has to give their permission to the police as well," said the district Collector MP Swami.
The filmmakers were preparing to shoot the climax of this Sriram Raghavan directed venture at the historic site of Kuldhara in the outskirts of Jaisalmer on Wednesday. The director wanted to present Kuldhara as a Pakistani village.
The art director, in an attempt to cover the original yellow stone of the facade, used maroon oil colour and had also filled mud between the stone layers. This not only defaced the structure but also caused permanent damage to the heritage property.
"We have the highest respect for the cultural heritage of our country and we even clean up beaches when we shoot there. Sometimes we do get blamed for what other units have done in the past and I guess that is the part and parcel of working in India.
Sometimes things go wrong but knowingly we won't damage anything," said Saif. I told Saif that the film unit will have to face penal action Bina Kak Rajasthan tourism, art, culture and archaeology minister

(less)Kareena looks good only with me: Saif
After working with Saif in "Tashan" and "Kurbaan", she will be seen with him again in the upcoming " Agent Vinod ", set for release March 23. "Kareena looks good with me and there is no comparison! Apart from me, I don't see anybody (with whom she looks good)," Saif told reporters here on the sidelines of the first poster launch of his production "Agent Vinod".
Kareena, the leading lady of the spy thriller, was missing from the event Wednesday. Saif explained: "We had to divide to conquer.
..
she will be seen in future promotional activities for the film." The first poster of the movie features only Saif in it.
However, he promises that unlike other action films, the actress has a justified role in his film too. "Kareena has a very strong role in the film.
She has done justice to the role and the role has also done justice to her," Saif said. The shooting of "Agent Vinod", directed by Sriram Raghavan , took a while.
Besides the unique action sequences, "Agent Vinod" will also have a "different" item song, a 'mujra' picturised on Kareena. "We thought let's go a different way and try something different in terms of expression.
I believe even Dinesh Vijan was pushing for a mujra..
. we needed to make our item a little bit different," said Saif
(less)I never take styling tips from Kareena: Saif
The 41-year-old actor, who walked as a show-stopper for designer Mandira Wirk at the ongoing Blenders Pride fashion tour, was seen wearing a black, sophisticated Band Gala suit with matching shoes. His suit was a perfect tribute to the design inspiration of Wirk who took references from 16th and 18th century Rococo and Baroque style.
Saif, who was looking extremely confident on the ramp, said he was perfectly fine with actress Priyanka Chopra turning down an offer of doing an item number for his upcoming movie "Agent Vinod".
"Since I belong to Bhopal, I will definitely wear an achka," Saif said

The Kareena-Saif wedding would follow in the last week of March or the first week of April and the next schedule of Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine has been advanced from the end of February to the middle of February to accommodate the promotion and release of Agent Vinod into Kareena's clogged schedule, followed by the wedding and honeymoon.
"After the release of Agent Vinod , the wedding will happen immediately. Kareena and Saif don't want to delay it any more," siad a source.

(less)Kareena Kapoor likes Aamir Khan
He is the maestro of the industry and Imran is just starting out. Working with Imran is a lot of fun.
I think he is a marvellous actor and I hope we get to work together in the future too," the 31-year-old actress said. Kareena, who is ready with her next two films "Ek Main Aur EK Tu" and " Agent Vinod " is, however, missing from the promotions of the latter movie.
She said her priority was "Ek Main Aur Ek Tu" at the moment. "Right now 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' is in the priority.
'Agent Vinod' is like an action thriller and you know..
. let Saif do the talking and I think he has been out for the media for a while.
You enjoy him for a while and may be I will step in before the film releases," she said
(less)No success mantra, luck working wonders for me: Kareena
There is no particular calculation or anything of that sort. I just have been lucky with some good films, good directors and good scripts," Kareena told reporters here after the music launch of her forthcoming film Ra.
One . Bodyguard has surpassed all box office records while her previous films like 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan and Golmaal 3 were also box-office hits.

(less)Saif Ali Khan's linguistic skills
Also it's known that the film spans multiple countries and is shot in different locations across the world. But what's not known is that the spy can speak in multiple languages as well.
A source close to the film says, "When a secret agent goes globe-trotting, he ideally should be conversant with the local dialect to get his work done easily. Working on this thought, the idea was to have Saif speak in multiple languages".
But before director Sriram Raghavan could ask him to learn the languages, it turned out that Saif was well conversant with most of them. Apparently Saif Ali Khan can speak in almost a dozen different languages which only proved helpful for his film.
So if you see Agent Vinod speaking fluently in some alien language, be sure it's the real Saif and not some dubbed voice
(less)Kareena Kapoor: Saif said it looked hot!
To Kareena, the idea of having a statue of herself is a bit intimidating. "The idea of being immortalised forever is scary.
The feeling hasn't sunk in yet. When I looked around the room, I realised I was the youngest person from Bollywood to be waxed.
Also I am right next to Mr Bachchan, so what more can one ask for?" Saying the best part of the statue are the eyes, Bebo adds, "They have done a marvellous of capturing the eyes so well. They are expressive and have that same feel which the song from Jab We Met showcases.
I can't comment about my statue, but the fans who travelled miles to come and see it have loved it. They've all told me it looks exactly like me.
" She adds, "Saif couldn't come as he's busy with Agent Vinod. I sent him the pictures a night before on the phone, and he said 'it looked so hot! Karisma also couldn't be here as she' busy with her film.
"When I am 70 and look back at these moments, I will definitely be proud of what I've achieved," concludes a proud Bebp
(less)No March wedding for Kareena, Saif
The film will hit the screens on March 23. "There are no plans for marriage as of yet.
We are just concentrating on the release of the film and our career right now," Kareena said. She also said they are not planning to get formally engaged Feb 10.
"It's completely false, there are no such plans." Bebo was in the capital to promote her forthcoming film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu , which is releasing Friday, along with her co-star Imran Khan and director Shakun Batra.
But Imran, known for his witty replies, joked, "(Kareena and Saif will get married) one week after the release of Agent Vinod and that's April 1st, the April Fool's Day." He looked at Kareena and added: "You could have taken my answer, it would definitely have made headlines.

Kareena, who has two big releases lined up this year -- "Agent Vinod" with beau Saif Ali Khan and Madhur Bhandarkar's "Heroine", agreed. "It (Piracy) is a racket and it should stop.
You should go and only watch in theatres to see all our films and all the stars' films," she said. Year 2012 is especially "special" for her elder Karisma as she is making her comeback to filmdom after a hiatus of six years with Vikram Bhatt's "Dangerous Ishq".
