Movie Review - Apartment
Enter Neha (Neetu), a village belle who exhibits strange behaviour and becomes Preeti's roommate. Soon, strange incidents start happening.
The neighbour's (Kher) cat is poisoned, a pet goldfish becomes fodder for the crows, and Preeti's life gets caught in a mesh of unexpected circumstances. The premise is interesting, and Neetu's character does have an edge at the start.
Not telling us anything about her background or where she's from gives her a mystery element. Before the movie began, Mundhra gave an impromptu speech to the present audience telling them he's fully responsible for how good, bad or ugly Apartment turned out.
Unfortunately, it's the third option that he was referring to. Despite being labelled a thriller, there's nothing that fits the genre.
Loud background music, jarring close-up and hideous camera angles are no substitutes for a rivetting storyline. After Neha's diagnosis and its result, the plot reaches new heights of insanity resulting in a climax that swings between the devil and the deep sea.
Among the cast, Tanushree gets to react more than act. Neetu dilates her pupils expecting us to be scared.

Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles
(less)Mahek Chahal reveals her beauty secret
My absolute must haves are browns, bronze and red shades of make-up, as they give my skin tone a very nice shine and suit me very well. I always carry these colors in my bag because I never know when I might show up at an event and feel completely under-dressed.
Also, any of these shades really adds that extra glow."

While talking about the honeymoon plans, Riteish had told us, "We can't have a honeymoon this month. Our producer Kumar Taurani has strictly forbidden us to go anywhere till our film releases this month as he wants Genelia and me to promote the film in various cities.
David Dhawan's son Rohit gets married on February 10, so immediately after our wedding Genelia and I will have to rush to Goa for that again. After that, will be my brother Dheeraj's wedding during the end of the month to Honey Bhagnani .
I have to be there for all the pre-wedding arrangements so going for our honeymoon this month seems impossible now."
(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .
They are my role models and I want to have a beautiful lineup of characters like them," says the actor
(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

Kangana Ranaut who left mouths wide open at her movie Fashion’s first look held at Cinemax. She was wearing something small in shining yellow and guess what she claims she has designed that dress herself.
Hold on… if you think this is the end then please wait, there’s more to come) She was also flaunting some red color false flowers and feathers on her made-up hair. Also a yellow color strap on her neck which resembled a dog collar.
If that wasn”t enough she also carried herself on shinning red heels and a matching red color bag. Thankfully Priyanka Chopra and Mugdha Godse too were present and were looking extremely stunning and beautiful.

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

(less)Mohit Suri to direct Aashiqui 2 with fresh faces
"It's been 20 years for that film. So, obviously now I will have to upgrade this story.
It will be the same realistic love story but with a modern theme," Suri told IANS. Aashiqui won critical accolades after its release at the time.
It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..
.a new generation is making this film," he said.

Rishi, Neetu Kapoor like Nargis Fakhri
But not many people know that even Ranbir's parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor have a liking for Nargis. When she had just begun filming with Ranbir, Nargis found herself in a rather funny situation with her co-star's parents.
The team had just commenced shooting in Delhi and Ranbir's parents - Rishi and Neetu Kapoor had come to visit the team on the sets. They were staying at the same hotel where Ranbir, Nargis and the other crew were put up.
Incidentally, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor were catching up with Imtiaz in the hotel lobby on arrival when they spotted a beautiful girl sitting across the hall, talking to someone. They were so captivated by her ethereal beauty and good looks that they immediately drew Imtiaz's attention towards the girl and exclaimed that such a pretty girl should consider making a career in Bollywood.
Imitiaz chuckled, telling Rishi and Neetu that she is indeed making her debut in Bollywood, and that too opposite their son Ranbir! That's when the Kapoor couple realized that the girl sitting in front of them was Nargis Fakhri! An amused Imitaz immediately called Nargis over and introduced her to the senior actors. Later when the incident was narrated to Ranbir, they all shared a good laugh over it!
(less)Audiences calling shots these days: Neha Dhupia
"What's creating more dhoom is the audience. It's so nice these days that we can do any kind of film because the audience is not ready for stereotypes," said the 31-year-old actress.
"Whether you do a 'Delhi Belly', or a 'Dirty Picture' or a 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' or 'Mission Impossible 4' - there is an audience for everything. The only thing that's causing dhoom in the industry is a good script, and then.
..
the audience decides," she added. Neha's new film "Pappu Can't Dance Saala" has just hit the screens.
Meanwhile, be it Vidya Balan or Kareena Kapoor - Bollywood's 30-plus actresses have been lately stealing the thunder Neha feels age is irrelevant when it comes to quality work. "I think age has got nothing to do with it.
..
Whether you're 20, 30 or 40. It all depends on the kind of cinema you are doing," said Neha at the Gillette Saluting Soldier event here.
Neha made her Bollywood debut with the action flick "Qayamat: City Under Threat" and later did a mix of commercial and off-beat films. She was last seen in "Gandhi To Hitler"

(less)Jag changed my career: Deepti Naval
A doctor from the hospital informed that Mundhra later had a cardiac arrest and had to be put on a ventilator, but eventually expired at 12:57 pm. Actress Neetu Chandra, who was seen in his 2010 thriller Apartment: Rent at Your Own Risk, informed, "Jag sir's body will be taken from Bombay Hospital to his residence in Shivaji Park, Dadar West at 3 pm.
Following which, the cremation rituals will be held at 4.30 pm, at a nearby cremation ground.
" Mundhra was born into a conservative Marwadi family. He studied engineering at IIT Mumbai and then moved to the US to do his MSc.
However, he eventually followed his calling for filmmaking in 1982. His debut film Suraag starred Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi .
He went on to make women-centric films like Kamla with Shabana and Deepti Naval in the lead roles. In 2000, Mundhra then moved on to address social issues through his films.
The last member in the industry to have met the filmmaker was Arya Babbar. A few days ago, Mundhra had narrated the script of his thriller K3 to Babbar.
It was supposed to go on floors in October. Deepti Naval: Jag changed my career I've been shooting non-stop for 45 days in Delhi.
I had left my phone behind in Mumbai. So, I had no clue he was unwell.
The last I spoke to him, he was very keen to see my directorial debut Do Paise Ki Dhoop Chaar Aane Ki Baarish. Now he's gone! Jag was a very dear friend.
When I did Kamla with him in 1985, I was only playing the sweet girl-next-door kind of roles. Initially, I was opposed to doing Kamla.
It appeared to be a demeaning role and I told him so. I remember sitting with him on my sofa in my apartment as he tried to convince me.
'I need those eyes for Kamla,' he urged me. I finally agreed.
And am I glad! I'd like to remember the wonderful discussions we had on cinema and all the encouragement he gave me. I'll miss him Shabana Azmi: He was a generous man I can't believe he is gone.
On my last birthday, he had sent me coffee cups with images of my films printed on them. It shows how thoughtful he was.
At his house in Los Angeles , any and everyone from Bollywood was welcome. He would've guests staying in his house for days and weeks.
Anyone in Bollywood, who needed any kind of Hollywood assistance-an editor, a technician or a stuntman-only had to get in touch with Jagmohan. He was keen to make a film titled Bardaasht about a man who faces a lot of injustice in his life and he is unable to take anymore.
Now, that film shall remain unmade. I'd like to remember Jagmohan as an extremely generous, kind, hospitable and thoughtful man.
Nandita Das : I will always remember his warmth I am speechless. There are people, even if one is not in constant touch with, give you a sense of warmth and affection.
Jagmohan was that. A director, who struggled to be known beyond his erotic thrillers, and did make his contribution to Indian Cinema with Kamla, Bawandar and Provoked.
But more than that, I will always remember his warmth and genuine persona. Like others, I saw his past films as a bit dodgy and my first reaction to his offer to do Bawandar was a firm no.
But he literally chased me to four different cities. He even came to Bangalore, where I was shooting a Kannada film called Deveeri and then to Hyderabad, where I was filming for Shyambabu's film Hari Bhari.
But it was his research, sincerity and genuine intention to tell this story that finally convinced me to do the film. It was one of the most difficult shoots and roles I have ever done.
Even though Bawandar, which was based on the real-life rape victim Bhanwari Devi in Rajasthan, was not a biopic film and the names were changed, I had made Jagmohan promise me that he will show it to her first. He kept his word.
He showed her the film and I spoke to a very moved and disturbed Bhanwari straight after that. Bawandar will always remain a special film for me, just as I know it was for Jagmohan.
We worked together more than 10 years ago, but kept in touch off and on. I am deeply saddened and he will be missed sorely.
His wife Chandra and only daughter, Smriti, will be devastated just as all those who have been touched by him. Noyon Jyoti Parasara / Subhash K Jha

(less)When Anupam Kher refused to sign an autograph
He told us, "We were staying in the same hotel, Rambagh Palace. And when I met her, I presented a copy of my book to her.
She gave her autograph on the book and said that the title of my book is a very powerful one," said Kher, for whom this Lit Fest was the first time he experienced it as a writer. "Till now I have come as a common man, a reader.
But now I have been invited as a writer. I think it's a great way to connect with people who read you," added Kher.
And then, a strange thing happened. As we were talking, one of his fans, a young college student, ran up to him to ask for his autograph - on one of Chetan Bhagat's book! Kher refused to sign an autograph.
He said, "Yaar, tum kitaab laye ho Chetan Bhagat ki, aur autograph maang rahe ho mujhse!"Hmmm..

(less)Who knows what will happen tomorrow: Shammi Kapoor
Even as he was suffering from kidney ailment for last many years, and his health failing badly, he never once lost the spirit to live. He would be taken to hospital thrice a week for dialysis process, but the actor would always take phone calls while in the hospital.
He always sounded cheerful, never sad or depressed and answered all your queries without complaining. Even if he was busy with the medical procedure in the hospital, he would make sure that he returned your call as soon as he got free.
He never ever failed to do that. I remember calling the actor sometime in February this year for an appointment as a journalist friend of mine living in the US was writing a book on renowned actor Ashok Kumar.
Shammi Kapoor readily agreed to meet us but wondered that how come he never did a film with Ashok Kumar. "It is really strange that every actor of my generation had acted in at least one film with the great actor, but I haven't done any except for a Pan Parag ad some time in the early 80s'.
I don't know what to talk, but come we will see..
" said Shammi. Shammi Kapoor had the days marked on his calendar he had to go to the Breach Candy hospital for his dialysis procedure.
"Can you come today (Wednesday) afternoon?" he asked. When I said it would be difficult as the author of the book wouldn't be around, Shammi sighed, "It would have been good if you could make it today because who knows what will happen tomorrow (laughs).
.but anyways then you come and meet me on Saturday.
" When we entered his huge apartment in South Mumbai, we could hear the actor singing an old tune that echoed in the massive drawing room, and he made an appearance within few minutes on a wheel chair with an attendant around. What surprised us was that the thespian had his thoughts collected as to what he will be talking about Ashok Kumar.
He was totally alert and focused and finished off everything just within 15 minutes. "I had always wanted to do at least one film with Ashok Kumar but since I never got the opportunity, I jumped at the offer of this Pan Parag ad where I could share space with Ashok Kumar.
The ad became extremely popular and it remained in people's memory for a very long time," said Shammi. However, one person who didn't approve of Shammi doing an ad film was his elder brother and noted filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor .
Shammi Kapoor narrated an incident, "Me and my brother Raj were travelling for some shows after the ad was on air. And everywhere the crowd thronging us would start screaming.
.'Voh dekh Pan parag, Pan parag.

Kirron says Anupam has evolved as a partner in last 25 years and added: "Anupam and I started as friends. I remember, every time I went through rough times, emotionally rough times, Anupam would always be there.
In fact, Anupam had this strange quality of pulling me out of depression and making me feel much better..

(less)Bouncer Rafeeq beats Salman Khan
The temperamental Khan who was in the city for the CCL curtain raiser, kept the entertainment quotient in his "Bollywood only" party high with an impromptu arm wrestling match between Shera, his favorite bodyguard and Mohd. Rafeeq, a bouncer from the city, who was part of his security cover for the evening.
"Salman bhai saw me standing with the other bouncers, walked up to me and said, 'Biceps acha hain tera, arm wrestling karta kya?' And before I could react, he called his favorite bodyguard Shera and asked him to arm wrestle me." With his massive 19-inch biceps, Rafeeq, who confesses that he's an ardent Sallu fan, effortlessly managed to defeat Shera in the first round of arm wrestling.
"I won, but Shera joked about how I cheated, so Salman bhai asked us to go on for another round just to prove a point. I was anxious about rubbing them on the wrong side and I told him I will lose.
but he told me, 'Agar tu mera fan hain, toh Shera ko hara ke dikha.' Prove to him ki tere muscles mein hawa nahi bhari hui hain.
" Bhai said that, so I had to defeat Shera again," says Rafeeq, who admits that he was scared of Shera initially. Not one to be satisfied easily, Sallu then called his brother Sohail Khan and challenged him to defeat Rafeeq.
Sohail, who was in no mood to accept the challenge, tried to bribe the young man with ` 5,000 and asked him to let him win. Md.
Abrar, owner of the Kings Group security agency, says, "Salman bhai was cross when he saw that and said no one would cheat. he then summoned Rafeeq and said he will take up the challenge himself.
That's when I gestured and told Rafeeq to take it easy and let bhai win." Bhai however, would have it only his way.
He pulled the star-struck Rafeeq closer and asked him to put up a true fight, failing which, he threatened to bash him up. "Salman bhai was joking of course.
He took his bracelet off, and I took out mine (Rafeeq wears a bracelet that looks identical to the one Salman sports ). Soon, I was able to defeat bhai.
He was in a very happy mood; he hugged me tight and said I am a strong man. But if you ask me, I think bhai let me win on purpose just to make me happy," says an excited Rafeeq, who refused to wash his hand for a good 24 hours after this encounter with his screen idol.
"Salman Khan has been my inspiration always. I started building my body and working out only after watching him in films.
My dream is to become his bodyguard. I couldn't have been happier.
" The audience, who cheered the 24-year-old Old City boy as he defeated Salman Khan, included the likes of Suneil Shetty, Sohail Khan, Kangna Ranaut , Shriya Saran, Genelia D'Souza, Riteish Deshmukh and Neha Dhupia. In high spirits, Sallu then had the bright idea of starting a friendly cat-fight by asking the ladies to arm wrestle each other.
And since saying no to Salman is not an option, the ladies joined in the fun. "Kangna and Shriya were pitted against each other, and Kangna won.
Then Genelia and Neha Dhupia got into a match with Neha defeating the petite Genelia," reveals a source present at the party

Can't believe he's no more! All my concern, love and support is with his wife Chanda and daughter. They have the greatest loss.

(less)I was the best person to direct this film: Parvin Dabas
Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande , produced under the Very Fishy Films banner, will be his directorial debut. The movie releases on August 19.
Parvin Dabas's directorial debut Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande to be released today Post Monsoon Wedding and Khosla Ka Ghosla , we've hardly seen you on the silver screen. What was the reason? I did about four films in the last five years which unfortunately did not do well.
I do not choose a lot of films. There is a saying in the industry that rolling mein rehna chahiye (you need to be constantly working) but I don’t believe in that and I follow my heart.
We all make wrong decisions and I've probably made a few more wrong ones than correct in my career. I am learning as I go along.
You’ve always stayed away from commercial films. Isn’t it also important to position yourself in that sphere? Commercial films like Hero did not give me satisfaction.
I am a low profile person. Though you need to be out there, I do not know the required tricks.
I have always paid more attention to trait than tricks. I’ve realized that I can be out there being myself.
How did you go about writing a film? I was working on various scripts with co-writers right after Monsoon Wedding as I did not have the confidence to write all by myself. I took the courage to work on this script.
I showed the first draft to Preeti (Jhangiani) and Anumpamji (Kher). Their encouragement has gave me confidence to make it into a film.
I did not want to handover the script to somebody else and that’s why it has been produced under our own banner. I was totally involved with the story and the characters and felt that I was the best person to direct.
I am proud of my directorial debut. What is the film about? It’s about chaar galat bandhe karne chale sahi dhandhe (four guys set out to do the right job) (Smiles).
They are four small-time goons, who break legs, kidnap people and empty houses for their boss Fauji (Sharad Saxena). Fauji gets a huge contract to get a job done.
These four guys have dreams which can be fulfilled with this money. But they have to go against their conscience to get it.
So the movie is about the critical balance of conscience and irresistible dreams. What was the idea of having new comers in the film? It may not have big stars but it has upcoming stars with a lot of talent.
Being a debut director, I did not know if I had the power to put my foot down. If I had big star on board, there could have been difference of opinions.
You stand out in the promos and the posters. Is the film solely being sold cashing on your name? Frankly speaking, I used to tell my marketing guys that let’s give all four of us an equal space but they wanted me as I am the only known face.
But I believe that it’s about four bad guys and not just one. Did you set out to make a full-fledged comedy? I made a film without keeping any genre in mind.
I consciously wanted to make an entertaining film as I like entertainment and not serious films. This is not a masala film and though it is not labelled as ‘intellectual’, I expect my audience to receive it intelligently.
How hard was it deciding to produce the film? It’s a big risk to produce a film but what’s life without risk. Becoming an actor was the biggest risk.
I was going to take my civil service exams but decided to become an actor in my last year of college. In scuba diving, I risk my life by diving into shark- fested waters; here I only risk my reputation.
Is it a short-budget film? It is a very ambitious film and people might have expected a bigger canvas. But I managed with a tight budget and by asking for a lot of favors.
A lot of money was saved thanks to personal contacts. Did anything significant happen during the making of the film? I injured my ankle in a stunt and the schedule was disrupted.
A Kushti (fight) sequence was to follow. Unfortunately we couldn’t re-schedule the scene.
At that point of time, I was afraid that the film might not get completed. But we got together and things started rolling again

(less)Jag looked after me when I landed in LA: Shekhar Kapur
When news of Jagmohan Mundhra's death broke out on Sunday morning, it sent shockwaves across the industry. Director Shekhar Kapur, who was close to Mundhra, wrote on his micro blogging site: "When friends pass away u ask urself why u r not doing wht u shld now.
What r u waiting for? RIP Jag. V assume r best friends r only a phone call away b t often don't make that call.
Then one day its 2 late." Kapur confessed that it was Mundhra and his family who had looked after him when the latter had first landed in the US.
"Jagmohan Mundhra and his wife, Chandra, selflessly looked after people from Indian films in LA. They looked after me for months when I first landed.
There was never a time when Jag and Chandra's house was not open for guests. I will miss him dearly," Kapur said.
Anupam Kher couldn't believe that the director had passed away. Wrote the actor, "Can't believe that Jagmohan Mundhra passed away this morn.
He was a delightful person. always smiling and positive.
Very sad. RIP Jags.
" So was it with Shabana Azmi, who wrote: "Sad news. Filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra passed away this morning.
Heartfelt condolences to his family." Shreya Ghoshal was equally shocked and the singer wrote: "RIP Jagmohan Mundra.
This was too sudden. You were indeed so down to earth, humble and gentle human being.
You will be missed." Director Bedabrata Pain, who had shown Mundhra his debut feature film recently, was at a loss for words.
"Such is the fragility of life! It was just the other day that Jagmohan Mundhra came to see "Chittagong". He loved it.
In fact, we put him on video right there and then. My friend, Gautam, has the video too.
We were going to talk more and so I was going to meet him next week. And now I hear from Yashpal Sharma that he has passed away.
I am extremely shocked and saddened." What was touching was when director Shirish Kunder summed the tragedy with a line from a Hindi film song when he wrote: "RIP Jag Mundhra.

Also, telling the world every minute, every second what you're upto seems kinda strange to me. When I feel comfortable with the idea, maybe I'll be on it.
Till then my virtual stint can wait!" As long as he gives fantastic realistic films, we too are okay with it, Mr Hirani! Also clearing the air about Munnabhai 3, the director says, "I've not finished writing the script. I'm only 80% done.
In fact, I am actually writing another script too, which is also keeping me busy. Only when I am done 100% will I be able to tell you which film goes on the floors.

He is a thorough professional and I've learnt a lot from him, on and off screen," says Neha. Why is Neha, who was hitherto known as a sex symbol, choosing to do offbeat films now? "I am not very choosy about my roles.
It's just that I do not want to get typecast as a particular character. My job is to entertain and it doesn't matter how I do it," says Neha.
Does that mean that she is willing to do something as bold and sensuous as Vidya Balan did in The Dirty Picture? "If the role demands it and I am happy with it, then why not?" she replies. Neha Dhupia recently caused a storm at a press conference when she said that porn star Sunny Leone did not belong to Bollywood, but to "another industry".
"First of all, I don't like to be compared to other people. Secondly, I am not comfortable talking about Sunny.
It's a touchy subject," she retorts. Having been part of the industry for more than a decade, does Neha think that the hit actor tag is still evading her? "I have been successful as an actor and have hits to my credit.
If I am still getting offers in the industry after so many years, it means I have done well. I am absolutely happy with the way my career has shaped up, but I still have a long way to go.
I want to try new roles and different characters," says Neha. On a parting note, Neha, who recently worked on a Telugu film, says that she finds south Indian film industries extremely professional.
"I'd love to work in the south as the industries are quite evolved and much more professional than Bollywood. I'm just waiting for the right offer," says Neha
(less)Madhur Bhandarkar gets bail in Preeti Jain rape case
The next date of the hearing is scheduled on November 29. Facts of the case In July 2004, Preeti had lodged a complaint with the Versova Police against Madhur alleging he had raped her 16 times between 1999 and 2004 under the pretext of casting her as actress in his films.
Madhur insists the complaint was of "cheating" and did not mention rape. In a statement issued at that time, Preeti had said, "We had sex 16 times and Madhur made promises of giving me a lead role in his films.
However, he didn`t offer me a lead role in any of his movies. At times when I refused, he raped me.
" Drama unfolded when Preeti was arrested in 2005 for hiring a contract killer to murder Bhadarkar. In January 2006, police requested the court to dismiss the case against Bhandarkar as they had found Preeti`s allegations to be false

"I was trying to not hit him hard but director Saurabh Shukla kept on telling me that the intensity in the scene is missing", reveals Neha. So she was actually asked to slap Vinay hard.
"But I still couldn't bring myself to slap him hard". Finally it seems like the man at the receiving end got irritated.
"After several retakes, Vinay Pathak got somewhat annoyed and said 'Your 15 mild slaps is more painful than one tight slap. So please slap me hard for once and get over with it'.
It was a really funny episode and ended with that tight slap", laughs the actress. Ask her about the funny title of the film and she says, "It's more symbolic and tries to say that there is a pappu in each one of us.
How we often say in a casual tine 'kya haal hai pappu'. We have tried to bring out that pappuness.
I play the character of a backup dancer Mehek Malvade who does not agree with the protagonist Vinay Pathak on some things. How they come together as neighbours is the gist of the story".
It is primarily a comedy film and Neha Dhupia claims it's her career-best performance. "And all credit goes to director Saurabh Shukla", she signs off

Veeraputhran runs into controversy
Writer Hameed Chennamangalur, from whose ancestral family house Rahman Sahib had his last dinner and later collapsed at a nearby market, said the insinuation in the film that his food was poisoned "not only distorts history but defames my ancestors." Abdul Rahman Sahib died in 1945 at the age of 47 was one of the key leaders of the Congress and Khilafat movement in Malabar in the fight against British rule.
Asked about the row, director Kunhu told PTI that he had not tried to distort history in the movie. "History is not a monopoly of anyone and there can be different interpretations.
I have conducted an investigation in my own style by eliciting views of eminent historians and the local people," he said. Hameed said such 'fake historical biopics' would mislead future generations and wanted the film to be withdrawn from theatres.
He was also planning to move court against the director. He said it was cruel to portray a natural death as murder.
The doctor who treated Rahman Sahib had clearly mentioned that he died of heart attack. This fact was also there in the biography of Sahib written jointly by his compatriots," he said.
Indian Union Muslim League MLA K N A Khader also said it was historically incorrect to say that Rahman Sahib was murdered. The suggestion in the movie that Muslim League in pre-independence days had favoured the 'two-nation' theory was also factually wrong, he said.
Rahman Sahib was strongly opposed to the two-nation theory. According to historian M G S Narayanan, there were widespread rumours in those days that Rahman Sahib was poisoned.
The period he lived was an era of conflict and nothing could be ruled out, he said. Kunhu Mohammed said he had only taken the liberty of a director.
"A film-maker can view history only in a cinematic way. Controversies on approach to historical facts are nothing new.
I have made the film based on a novel on Rahman Sahib's life by writer N P Mohammed and there can be a fictional element in it," he said. The director said a legal notice would be sent to Hameed Chennamangalur if he did not stop the 'false campaign' against the movie.

(less)Jagmohan wasn't a director of semi-porn movies: Rohit Roy
He was one of the nicest and most cultured guys I've met. All of us who have worked with him are stunned.
" But what has really shocked Rohit is the way the world tried to thrust the image of being a director of semi-porn movies to Mundhra. "That was utter crap.
He is a graduate from MIT who has made so many thought provoking films like "Bawandar", "Kamla" etc. He was anything but a semi-porn filmmaker.
" In fact, Mundhra himself was very upset with his tag that was thrust on to him. In an earlier interview, the director had emphatically said that he had never made a single porn movie.
"Most of my erotic thrillers have been R rated and are based on solid 95 minute screenplays with a few scenes containing tasteful nudity. All were shot in 35mm with well known TV actors and with a professional crew over four to five weeks of shooting schedule.
Porn films don't need all this. When a film directed by me called "Night Eyes" for Ashok Amritraj became a massive hit on the video circuit bringing in a return of $30 million on a $1 million investment; I got pigeonholed in this genre and was flooded with offers to direct erotic thrillers.
For someone who was turned down by American producers in late 70s saying you are Indian and a Ph.D.
, how can you direct an American film, you should be only doing research; this was quite a vindication," the director had said. In fact, this impression was so detrimental that there were times when parallel film actors in India shied away from working in his films because this tag.
"Most people in the media who named me as such had never seen my English films. One person's tag got carried on by others and no one cared to verify anything.
Not just parallel film actors, all actors in India who mostly know you by what they read about you were skeptical. Most famous Bombay directors would tell me in private how much they envied me and wanted to visit me on my sets in LA.
In public, of course, everyone had their 'holier than thou' attitude, undermining my film work in America as insignificant. Except for Deepti Naval and Shabana Azmi, who had worked with me in "Kamala" in 1985, most had forgotten that I came from the realistic cinema school.
I made "Bawandar" to remind people what I could do as a filmmaker. I am quite proud of my body of work.
A good film according to me is one which tells its story effectively and efficiently. If the story is about sex and seduction and the character's action is motivated by desire, then my job as a story teller is to involve my audience in that character's plight and dilemma.
If as an audience you are offended by genre of films such as " Fatal Attraction " and "Basic Instinct", it doesn't mean those films are bad. All it means is that it was not intended for a prudish audience like you," the director had said in the interview.
Recalling his association with Mundhra, Roy said, "It's sad that a prolific filmmaker like him got labeled in such a fashion. He had a lot more to offer and always sad that despite doing movie like "Provoked" and "Bawandar", he still couldn't lose the stupid tag.
Having worked with him on "The Apartment", I can say with authority that he enjoyed telling stories of human conflict involving serious social issues."
(less)Review: That Girl In Yellow Boots
Ruth eventually finds herself living in a dilapidated apartment with a drug dealer boyfriend who lives off her. She makes a living by working in a shady massage parlour, offering ‘ happy endings ’ to sleazy old men.
Her every effort towards finding her father, whom she vaguely remembers, culminates in discovering darkest and terrible secrets. Still from That Girl In Yellow Boots An alien to the city, Ruth’s stay here is fraught with unending problems and misery.
The story looks promising in the beginning, but slowly loses its essence as the movie unfolds. It loses all and any sense of reality somewhere in the middle, with Ruth struggling to make ends meet at one place and dishing out thousands of rupees to find her father and protect her lover at the same time.
The movie is not very believable in this regard. Also the characters in the movie are played with a certain amount of intensity but do not develop as the story progresses.
The title of the film is quite fun. The bright yellow boots stand out in a mundane environment just as Ruth stands out in the city of Mumbai putting across the whole concept of being out of place.
Veteran actor, Nasseerudin Shah has outdone himself once again. He’s a father figure to Ruth who visits her at the parlour for treatment to a painful leg ailment.
Chittiapa (Gulshan Devaiah), a gangster who threatens Ruth when her boyfriend (Prashant Prakash) runs away with his money, and Maya (Puja Swarup), the receptionist at Ruth’s parlour provide comic relief to the otherwise heavy script. Anurag Kashyup’s cinematography is admirable.
Most of the scenes are shot in natural light and on the city’s roads. As for the background score, composer Naren Chandavarkar has made sure it supports and adds life to the script.
The film rather ends on an abrupt note and the climax isn’t a surprise but it is disturbing. Watch only if you’re in the mood for something not run-of-the-mill.

(less)I have not given a single flop film: Anushka Sharma
Getting used to of big hits and big roles at an initial stage of her career, Anushka gets miffed for being labelled for her association with Yashraj Banner. "I don't work for production houses.
I only work for good scripts and roles. If you follow my career graph you will find that I have not given a single flop yet in my career.
I am proud of it. I am doing films from this banner because of the fact that I am getting good scripts from them.
I will keep doing that till they offer me good roles and films as they have the maximum understanding and respect for my talent. You can not streamline yourself to such a narrow-way by sticking to just one prod house or even one film director.
" Needless to add, the favourite actor of Yash camp has got one film which surprisingly comes from a different banner. "I am doing Vishal Bharadwaj's Matru ki Biwi Ka Mann Dola which is a different banner," she adds.
Talking about her smashing chemistry with Ranveer she says, "People do talk about our chemistry and I just need to say that we are not calculating our relationship. The kind of similarity we shared in the film BBB is sort of similar but not entirely similar in real life as well.
There was definitely no overt description of love in the film and similarly in the real life. Ours is very strange relationship.
There are times when we can't stand each other; at times we are on back slapping terms. Its very informal relationship and bit complicated as well.

(less)I'm getting into e-commerce: Neha Dhupia
The space interests me a lot so I am getting into that. There are a couple of products that I am planning to launch online," Neha told IANS.
The actress has been working on the idea for quite sometime and will launch her own line of lingerie and shoes. Neha was in the capital to launch Gillette's range of shaving razors Soldier.
A certain percentage of the sales will go to the Sainik Welfare Organisation, which works for the welfare of soldiers in need of financial assistance. Also present at the event were Gillette brand ambassador Arjun Rampal and former cricketer Kapil Dev
(less)I have not given a single flop: Anushka Sharma

(less)I can’t deny that sex sells: Milan Luthria
. The Dirty Picture has a lot of shock value.
..
I can't deny that sex sells. It has been selling for ages and it will outlast any other product.
And the casting is also quite shocking..
. It is a bold film and a bold casting.
In this avatar , Vidya is a delight for Indian men. She's their ultimate fantasy.
I cast her knowing that her presence will cause an uproar of curiosity. Was she apprehensive about the bold scenes? She was in a state of panic after hearing the first narration.
But I eventually calmed her down. I told her that I'd delete any shot she didn't like.
I've shot her from flattering and unflattering angles but she's happy with the way it's turned out. Naseeruddin Shah seems like an unconventional choice for a bold film.
..
He wanted to play a letch in the film. He told me he was fed up for the goody-two-shoes roles.
In fact, he's lip-syncing to Bappi da, dancing like Govinda , romancing Vidya and playing a flamboyant south Indian superstar! What was the toughest part of moulding Naseer saab in this character? Choreography. He used to come to my office every morning and his wife used to accompany him for moral support.
She even rehearsed with him a couple of times, until he got the dance steps right. Tell us something about the Tusshar - Vidya kiss! That sequence took the most time.
They were both not familiar with each other so it was sort of awkward, but they're funny characters in real life, so they kept telling each other to pop a mint and have a fresh breath. What inspired you to make a film on this subject? When I set out to make the film, it wasn't based on the life story one woman in particular.
Early 90s saw the rise of item girls in south India. You forgot the name of the actresses but you remembered Silk Smitha and Disco Shanti.
I found an unconventional hero in stories of these women and wanted to make a film on it. You're facing a lot of resistance from Silk Smitha's family.
..
I have never said that the film is based on Silk Smitha's life, and I never will. Yes, there is a source of inspiration there but the events in the film are different from her life story.
Is it true that you're re-shooting certain scenes that were over-the-top? What the promos are showing you is just the tip of the iceberg. I'd like to request people not to judge the film before seeing it
(less)Camps help get work: Neha Dhupia
And yes, belonging to camps does help get work." So, which camp does she belong to? "I don't belong to any camps because I neither see nor feel the need to.
I get work on my own worth and not because I belong to any camps. I believe if I am good, I will get work, that's it.
Yes, there are camps in Bollywood and it does help, I wouldn't deny that."

I could not tell from his voice that there was anything wrong with him. In fact, he was so excited about the film as we were about to start shooting at the end of September.
"It's is very shocking and I'm very upset. I just know that there was some internal bleeding because of which he was hospitalised.

" Kabir Bedi: "Jagmohan Mundra, friend from my Hollywood years, passes away and I'm deeply sad. Last met at Shammi Kapoor's funeral.

Later he made films like Night Eyes , The Jigsaw Murders , Eyewitness to Murder , Open House and Halloween Night . In 2000, Mundhra moved to issue-based movies and the first in the series was Nandita Das starrer and critically acclaimed Bawander , which was based on real story of rape victim Bhanwari Devi in Rajasthan.
In 2007, he teamed up with Aishwarya Rai to bring on screen the trials and tribulations of London-based Punjabi woman Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a victim of domestic violence in Provoked . In 2007, Mundhra took up yet another sensitive subject for his movie Shoot On Sight , which talked about the West's perception of Muslims following 9/11.
The movie's take-off point is the order London police passed to shoot suspected terrorists after the July 7, 2005, London subway bombings. However, Mundhra moved to a lighter subject with Govinda starrer Naughty @ 40 .
He was very keen to make a film on Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Tweet
(less)Big B faces a rat problem
Sincerely! On a rather lazy evening, they even landed up by the furniture and cushions in the hall! I had spent many nights chasing them around with a broom until exhaustion overtook my violent adventure and slumbered me down". Even the rat traps placed by Bachchan failed to get them.
"They have discovered the means of escaping from them - and worse, with the cheese! I tried all possible remedies for this and failed, until finally it struck me that 'loha loha ko kat ta hai' and decided to encourage the stray cats from taking their stroll in the garden and occasionally to be fed with great sympathy by the staff of the house. In between I even tried that ingenious paste that when placed on a piece of paper that houses the treasured cheese, encourages the mice to have a go at it and get stuck in the paste before they reach the bait!! A huge sense of victory was experienced by me, when I met up with 'stuck' rat in the paste - a scenario I had long wished would happen some day!" Bachchan wrote furthe that he had a conversation with rat: "I spent a good half hour conversing with monsieur rat, telling him in a one way conversation sort of way, the anguish it had caused me for this rather large period of time chasing him about the house.
I think he was least interested in my vocabulary, which I must confess was a bit tempered and x-rated and proceeded to show me his prowess in trying to escape even when he was in such dire circumstances. Of course he failed, but the attempt was honest and worthy of mention .
..
he tried to bite its way out by attempting to eat and chew up the paper, little realizing that every portion of his body that touched 'paper treated paste' would have even grave consequences on the rest of his body!" Bachchan goes ahead and shares an earlier experience. He wrote "The rat that crawled out from a large gutter or drainage system in an earlier home of mine when I stayed in a rented place, is even more alarming! On returning from my work late one evening, I discovered a rat the size of a cat, over-grown and over-fed, taking very measured steps up the staircase in the house like he owned it! On making a few 'shooo' sounds to drive it away, it, moving in any case at.
005 feet per hour, stopped for a moment and slowly but very determinedly turned its head around to give one of the most evil glares that I may have ever received. It was almost human in its demeanor and this prompted me to leave it alone rather than be obsessed by its presence in the most personal portions of the house!! The other sized rats that came close in presence to this fellow were the ones on the sea front of Marine Drive among the quadrupeds, or whatever they are called, to prevent erosion ! Those experiences were at a time when there was no roof over my head and I had spent the nights on a bench the entire night, by the pavement!

(less)Pappu Can't Dance Saala: Movie Review
But beyond that when it strays into entirely different terrain, the movie loses its audience. Vidyadhar (Vinay Pathak) works in a private company but lives (as an illegal tenant) in a government colony in Mumbai.
Mehek Malvade (Neha Dhupia) who works as a backup dancer in films shifts next doors. She is anything but the girl-next-door and her cheeky conduct initiates enmity with her neighbour.
When a vigilance raid renders her homeless, Mehek moves in Vidyadhar's apartment, much against his wish. As their initial hostility is replaced by a friendly bond, they come close.
But the ambitious Mehek is besotted by glamour world and will stop at nothing to make her starry dreams come true. Writer-director Saurabh Shukla starts the film on a promising note and though it never gets outrageously funny (like one expects it to be), it doesn't bore you either.
The pace is slow and the tempo keeps dropping every now and then. The Bambaiyya v/s Banarasi attitude of brawl between Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia defines their cross-connected chemistry here.
The tone of humour is inconsistent ranging from some hilarious moments to some plain passable ones. But beyond humour, the film focuses more on the heartwarming bond that it subtly develops between its odd pair.
But as Mehek's journey to reach the stars takes over, the film loses focus. Going on a completely different tangent, it highlights the turmoil of a struggling actress and how her family disapproves of filmdom.
Furthermore it distances her from love. Disillusioned in the city of dreams, Vidyadhar moves back to his hometown and the film attempts to give an insight on the urban-rural divide.
Until Naseeruddin Shah (reprising a role immortalized by Anupam Kher in Bollywood ) persuades his son to seek true love. And just when you presume that a seemingly lecherous producer (Rajat Kapoor) would make a pass at Mehek, he plays agony uncle guiding her to true love.
Finally when the end credits roll in a film-studio, showcasing the behind-the-scene existence of the movie industry, one wonders why the film needlessly treads into Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance zone. What was the central plot after all? The murky side of movie world? Despair in city of dreams? What point did the film attempt to make after wandering off into so many offshoots, when we were always under the impression that it was a minimal tale of mismatched romance? The performances are perfect.
Vinay Pathak doesn't fall prey of overdoing his underplaying act and is poised in his character. Neha Dhupia completely justifies her meaty role with an audacious act.
Rajat Kapoor is restrained as usual in his small bit. Naseeruddin Shah gets a cliched character.
Brijendra Kala and Sanjay Mishra lend decent support. The film ends with an off-track moral to the story - to accept a person without expecting them to change.
But it's difficult to accept this partially engaging film, unconditionally! On that note this pappu doesn't pass muster. Alas pappu fail ho gaya ! Verdict: Average
(less)Abhay Deol's girl steams it up!

What's really interesting is the fact that Preeti has some steamy scenes with her co-star and Abhay seems to be ok with it. (less)Celeb weddings in 2012
The media has been speculating about their wedding ever since. Recently, Saif Ali Khan's father Nawab Mansur Ali Khan Patuadi passed away and their plan of getting married in the year of 2011 was postponed.
In a press meet of Kareena and Imran Khan's new flick Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Bebo refused to put a date to the wedding. She said "It's great that people have set my wedding date, have designed my wedding dress and planned my honeymoon without me being aware of it! It's flattering, but no; I'm not getting married, yet! Saif and I are happily in love and happy with each other; we are taking our time.
" So, there are no plans of marriage till February 2012 as she will be busy with shooting for a movie. But if sources are to be believed, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are gearing up for their wedding in 2012, probably after the release of 'Agent Vinod'.
Saif-Kareena's is one of the most-awaited weddings in B-town. Riteish Deshmukh-Genelia D'souza: The couple met during their debut film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' in 2003 and since then rumours about their romance have been doing the rounds in the industry.
The romance that was kept under wraps by the actors till early this year is all set for a fairytale wedding in February 2012. A friend of the couple informed TOI, "The wedding celebration will last for four days.
February 3 is the Mehndi celebration; on 4th, they'll host the sangeet ceremony; 5th will be the wedding and 6th is the reception. In fact, they have already booked two suburban five-star hotels for the functions.
" Riteish, son of politician Vilasrao Deshmukh , is 32 and Genelia is eight years younger to him. On the big screen, they were last seen together in "Masti" in 2004, but have now teamed up again for " Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya".
Vidya Balan- Siddharth Roy Kapoor: Bollywood's curvaceous boombastic babe Vidya Balan has been spotted with UTV head Siddharth Roy Kapoor many a times in events and the couple was also spotted getting cosy in Goa. Those who saw the couple going around in the tourist city spread rumours that they had married 'secretly'.
The actress, who speaks her mind out on many issues, has scotched all those rumours.Their love boomed during the shooting of "No One Killed Jessica", which was based on model Jessica Lal's murder case.
She has now admitted that she is, indeed, in love with Siddharth Roy Kapoor. Vidya has said that "I like Siddharth and would love to get married to him in future.
" 'The Dirty Picture' actress Vidya has recently purchased her dream house. It is said that she is looking for an auspicious date on which she might start living there with beau Siddharth.
If everything goes well, the marriage might be held in the first half of 2012. Soha Ali Khan- Kunal Khemu: Just like her big brother, Saif Ali Khan, Soha has decided to settle down too in the year 2012.
Soha Ali Khan and actor Kunal Khemu have been together for long. Both are also seen in many events and fashion shows together.
Recently, Kunal officially outed his relationship with Soha and the Pataudi family. He also got closer to Kareena Kapoor and bonded well during the shooting of Golmaal 3 in Goa as she was seeing Saif.
Their families have also given a nod to the relationship. Neetu Chandra- Randeep Hooda: They have so far managed to keep their relationship under wraps.
However, with recent developments, keeping it away from the public eye, it seems, will no more be possible. Buzz has it that Bollywood couple Randeep Hooda and Neetu Chandra may also tie the knot in 2012.
Neetu Chandra postponed her wedding from 2011 to 2012 because she wants Randeep to clean up his on-screen image first. However, in his latest release Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster he was seen doing some erotic scenes with co-actress Mahi Gill.
This had apparently made Neetu Chandra delay the marriage with Randeep Hooda. Actor Randeep Hooda, who has previously dated diva Sushmita Sen , has introduced girlfriend Neetu Chandra to his parents too.
Dia Mirza- Sahil Sangha: Dia Mirza, who is dating the director of her latest film, Love Breakup Zindagi, Sahil Sangha may also get married in 2012. In a recent interview with TOI, ex-Miss Asia Pacific Dia Mirza commented on her relationship by saying, "Sahil and I are in a very committed relationship.
We've been dating over for three years now." She added, "My dad's theory is going to kick in; he said the only way you can know if you can spend the rest of your life with a man is if you've survived three years with him.
In the first year, he's at his best behaviour. In the second year, his true shades start coming out, and if you've survived the third year, you know you can go the distance.
The thing with Sahil is that in the very first year itself I knew that we would go the distance. He's very grounded, clear and dependable.
" So all the best Dia and Sahil for the future Rani Mukherji- Aditya Chopra: Bollywood A-list actress Rani Mukherji and the most powerful man in Bollywood Aditya Chopra , son of Yash Chopra and the co-owner of the Yash Raj banner have been rumoured to be together for years now. Aditya even divorced Payal Khanna, who was his childhood girlfriend.
Recently, the couple celebrated Diwali together at Adityodaya, the Chopra home in Juhu, Mumbai, with a few close friends and family members, including Aditya's parents, Yash and Pamela and younger brother Uday. Buzz is that Bong beauty Rani Mukherjee may soon tie the knot with filmmaker Aditya Chopra.
However, the two haven't spoken openly about their rumoured relationship till now. The Aditya-Rani relationship is B-town's most talked about romance.
Prasanna -Sneha: Kollywood movie 'Achamundu Achamundu' co-stars Prasanna and Sneha have finally made a public announcement about their relationship. Their love story began during the shooting of the film and after two years of getting to know each other well, they have finally decided to settle down.
Ram Charan Teja - Upasana Kamineni: Tollywood heartthrob and actor Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Tej took his first step towards his marriage, as he exchanged rings on 1st Dec 2011 with his sweetheart Upasana Kamineni, the granddaughter of Prathap Reddy, the chairman of Apollo Hospitals group. In an interview, Upasana Kamineni said, "The family elders will announce the wedding date soon, may be next year.
" Ram Charan speaks on his relationship, "We were best-friends for the last eight years and then we dated for a year, and are planning to get married in 2012." He himself designed his fiancee's engagement ring.
How romantic! Neha Marda and Ayushman Agarwal: TV actress Neha Marda famous for her role as Gahna in Balika Vadhu, is all set to tie knot on 10th February, 2012 with Patna-based businessman Ayushman Agarwal. Neha says, "My parents arranged this marriage; our wedding will take place in Kolkata.
" She added, "I will invite my Balika Vadhu team and Ek Thi Rajkumari team." She also announced recently in an awards function that she will quit Balika Vadhu and all other TV shows as she wants to take a break from work and enjoy her married life
(less)You can't take glamour out of me: Neha Dhupia
In an exclusive conversation, the glamourous actress speaks about her upcoming film Pappu Can't Dance Saala and how she is an inseparable part of the fashion fraternity. Why can't Pappu dance? Or is the title more symbolic? I am happy you gave me the option 'symbolic' else I wouldn't know how to answer your question (laughs).
Well, the title is symbolic for the very reason that it's trying to say there's a pappu in each one of us. It is like one of those casual moments when we refer to someone saying ' kya haal hai pappu '.
We have tried to bring out that pappuness in the film. I play the character of a backup dancer called Mehek Malvade who does not agree with the protagonist Vinay Pathak on some aspects.
How they come together as neighbours is the gist of the story. So is it a Vinay Pathak brand comedy? It is primarily a comedy film but then drama is an essential element in every film, be it horror or action.
Did the onscreen comic chemistry translate into off-screen humour as well? Certainly, at several instances! I remember of this one scene in particular where my character was required to slap Vinay Pathak. I was trying to not hit him hard but director Saurabh Shukla kept on telling me that the intensity in the scene is somewhere missing, so I must slap hard.
I still couldn't get myself to slap him hard. After several retakes, Vinay Pathak got somewhat annoyed and said 'Your 15 mild slaps is more painful than one tight slap.
So please slap me hard for once and get over with it'. It was a really funny episode and ended with that tight slap.
Are you consciously choosing comedy roles over glamourous ones? You can't take glamour out of Neha Dhupia (laughs). It's hard! It's just that I find relief in doing comic roles and it comes to me naturally.
But off-late we see you more often in small-budget independent cinema? I don't know why people have this notion but I have no such criteria to stick to small-budget films. I just look for flexibility that the character offers me as an actor and good scripts.
You also seem to be amongst the most popular cover girls around Really? I don't think that is true. But I must admit that I love being a part of the fashion fraternity.
And perhaps my publicist is doing a great job! You are also starting your lingerie line It's more of an e-commerce initiative. I'll be starting websites for a lingerie line and a designer shoe line offering people a wide range to choose from.
You are not a part of the sequel to 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local'. Any regrets? Ek Chalis Ki Last Local is a feather in my cap.
It almost became a cult comedy. But the script usually demands that an actor not be repeated in the sequel.
So it's good that I am not a part of the sequel. We need to move on.
I wish luck to director Sanjay Khanduri. Any surprises from you in 2012? I have gone complete de-glam in my next film Maximum and you would be surprised to see me in my new avatar.
Why just you..
. even I couldn't recognize myself when I peeped in the mirror.
I play the character of an encounter specialist's (Sonu Sood) wife. Also my character is based on a real-life personality though I can't reveal it's identity at the moment.
I am really looking forward to this film

(less)New show to explore life of child stars
Directed by Hemant Prabhu, Haar Jeet on Imagine TV will delve deep in to the life of star kids, who become a source of income for their parents. "Children lose their innocence very young these days and all thanks to their parents.
Their parents try and fulfill their unfulfilled dream through their children, even at the cost of their child's happiness," Prabhu said. 'Haar Jeet' is a story about two girls, from two different financial background and how the parents impose their dreams on them, crushing their daughters happiness.
Jannat Zubair Rahmani, who last seen in Colors Phulwa will essay the character of Isha, a rich girl and Khushali Hirani will play Mihika, the poor girl. "The plot is different.
I was working on this concept for the past two-three years. The timing was not proper then.
Now, the situation has changed. There are so many shows with kids.
And now I think is the right time to come out with such a show," said Saurabh Tewari, Head of Programming, Imagine TV. Tewari also said that parents treat their little ones as "paycheques" and maintains that this is a universal problem.
"Some parents treat their children as paycheques but it is not just about kids in TV industry. It is about kids all over the world.
It is not just restricted to the television industry. It is a universal problem," Tewari added.
Prabhu, who has also directed shows like Kundali , Koshish Ek Asha and Sati , said that the two girls working in the show are given utmost attention and care on the sets but is not sure what happens beyond that. "The kids are made comfortable on our sets.
They shoot for six to seven hours maximum and they continue with their schools. "But the problem starts when the parents start over selling their kids and make them do things beyond their capacity.
They should not treat their children as stars at home but rather should treat them like normal kids. That would keep them grounded," he said.
The director also said that although they have cast two young girls in the show, it should not be labelled as exploitation. "We are not exploiting the girls.
They are not missing out on school. They come to the sets after school.
The girls love acting. Khushali (Mihika) loves dancing and that is what she does most on the show.
It is like an extra curricular activity for them," Prabhu said. Tweet
