Amitabh, Rajinikanth: Reunion after 28 yrs
Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the director recently met Rajini in Chennai with a story idea. According to a friend of Jagannath, the superstar, who has been busy with his daughter Soundarya's film, has agreed to come on-board the project.
The source told us, "Rajinikanth was excited by the idea of coming together with Big B again. He feels Puri, is the right person to pull off this casting coup.
" Puri, who has already worked with Big B in Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, confirmed the story and said, "Yes, I met Rajini Sir in Chennai. I've wanted to work with him for the longest time.
So far I hadn't dared to approach him because I could not think of a role that would do him justice. It's been my life-long dream to direct Amitji and Rajini Sir.
" On handling such a star cast, he added, "It's a challenge that I would like to take on. Let's see how it goes.

Saif files counter complaint, police say no clean chit yet to anyone
Yesterday, at around 7:50 pm, Saif was arrested by the police at his lawyer's office based on the complaint filed by Iqbal Sharma. The actor arrived at the Colaba police station at 8 pm.
Girlfriend and co-star Kareena Kapoor accompanied him. Around 90 minutes later, he left after having paid Rs.

"They were making a lot of noise. And we asked the management to ask them to be quiet so that we could also enjoy our evening.
This failed on about three occasions at least." Mr Sharma says his family and he decided to leave the restaurant; on their way out, they ran into Saif who had left Wasabi and was on his way back in.
At this point, Mr Sharma says, Saif struck. But the actor says that's not the case.
He claims he was hit first and so he acted in self defence. He adds that Mr Sharma was rude to the women at his table and that when he intervened, Mr Sharma threw the first punch.
"I acted in self-defence. I was hit.

I've got hit on the eye," he said in a press conference on Wednesday evening. Earlier, in a press statement released just after he got bail, Saif said, "I don't think any gentleman would have behaved differently.
The CCTV footage in the restaurant will prove everything." In his complaint, the actor has also alleged that his eye got swollen after he was punched and that Bilal Amrohi and Shakeel Ladak too have got bruises on their chest.
Police say they will study Saif's application and then decide if it's a cognizable offence. So far, they insist, they haven't given a clean chit to either the actor or Mr Sharma.
"We are studying the restaurant's CCTV footage. The security cameras at the staircase of the restaurant where the incident occurred did not capture the fight," a senior police official said, adding that statements of actresses Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora will now be recorded.

(less)Saif Ali Khan surrenders, charged with assault, granted bail
According to reports, he was questioned, charged with assault and then granted bail. Earlier, the actor got into a scuffle in a five star hotel restaurant last night and apparently punched a man in his face and broke his nose.
A case under section 325 of the IPC had been registered against Saif. The incident took place last night at Wasabi restaurant, Taj Hotel when he, along with Kareena, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak and a few friends, were having dinner.
Iqbal M Sharma, a temporary resident of Juhu, was sitting with his family at an adjoining table. According to reports, Iqbal complained about the clamour that Saif and his friends made.
This ticked off Saif and a scuffle broke between the two. Saif, reportedly, told Iqbal to go to a library to find quiet.
Some reports suggested that the fight actually broke between Amrita Arora Ladak's husband Shakeel Ladak and Iqbal. But it was only when Saif intervened that he got into a brawl with Iqbal.
Post the scuffle, Iqbal lodged a complaint that Saif and two of his associates assaulted him with fist blows, causing fracture to his nose. A case has been registered against the actor with the Colaba police station.
According to Times Now, Iqbal M Sharma is the deputy director of department of trade & investment, South Africa. He is a South African national of Indian origin.
Iqbal told Times Now that Saif and his friends abused him and his father-in-law verbally and assaulted them physically. Hawaldar Welkar of the Colaba Police station in Mumbai confirmed the news and told us, "Yes, a case was registered against Saif Ali Khan by Iqbal Sharma , last night for some fight that took place between them in Hotel Taj last night.
Rest of the details are with my boss ACP Iqbal Sheikh." When contacted ACP Iqbal Sheikh said, "We are conducting an inquiry into the matter and we will be questioning every one involved in this case.
If required we will be arresting who ever is at fault." Meanwhile the people at Wasabi refused to comment on the incident.
Pankaj Singh , the floor manager at the Wasabi said, "I wasn't here last night so I don't know about anything that happened at the restaurant nor have I heard anything from anyone here."

I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law-abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces.
I think they have the CCTV footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided.

Tremendous control over the medium has enabled Bollywood to get some big bucks from a talented lot of ad filmmakers who turned directors and vice versa. Now the tables have turned and how! Filmmakers Abhinay Deo, Dibakar Banerjee, Imtiaz Ali, Tarun Mansukhani, Bejoy Nambiar and Rajkumar Hirani are also directing TVCs even as they continue their B-Town stint.
Imtiaz directed Neetu Kapoor and Jimmy Shergill in a bank ad, Tarun Mansukhani directed Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar in a paint commercial, Dibakar directed Imran Khan in a cola ad, Hirani directed Sharman Joshi in a soft drink ad and Bejoy directed MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi in a bike ad. Abhinay says, "Filmmaking is about how the fat is thrown out and the meat is presented to the audiences.
We can't afford to splurge in advertising. Ad filmmakers understand nuances like color coordination well.
And most importantly content comes first, technique comes later." Says adman Prahlad Kakar, "While ad filmmakers are more educated than regular Bollywood filmmakers and more professional, when a Bollywood filmmaker directs an ad, their connection with celebs comes to the platter of ad filmmaking.
Actors don't throw starry tantrums with known filmmakers when they do an ad." Abhinay however refutes the claim and says as an ad filmmaker he never tries "to consciously work with celebs.
In that case, the celeb becomes the script and the ad has no further scope." R Balki, a creative director of a leading ad agency feels, "The mindset of a person watching an ad and a film is different.
Otherwise both the mediums involve storytelling and they are not very different. Ad films teach you to communicate a concept and if it is about big bucks then ad filmmaking is also about big bucks.

(less)Saif Ali Khan arrested for assaulting businessman, released on bail
A battery of top police officers were waiting for the actor, besides the media and scores of fans outside the police station. In the afternoon, police sent a team to Saif's house and after failing to locate him there, had ordered him to appear before it as early as possible.
Saif was virtually declared 'wanted' for assaulting South African NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma , who is also the director general and CEO of the Trade, Industry & Investments of South Africa. The actor has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly assaulting Sharma in the Taj Mahal Hotel around 1 am on Wednesday morning.
Police said a case of assault had been registered at the Colaba police station. After his release the actor in a statement said, "There was an ugly incident last night where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted.
I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. Sharma told Times Now television that Saif called him an "idiot" for complaining about the actor's loud conduct at a restaurant in the Taj Mahal Hotel. He said he and his family had requested the restaurant manager to ask Saif and his friends, which included Kareena, Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora Khan, to keep their voices down.
Sharma said he and his family decided to move to another part of the restaurant downstairs. "As we were going down the stairs, Saif was coming up, probably from the toilet.
As he passed me, he called me an idiot and asked 'Do you know who I am?'" Sharma said the actor first pushed him and then assaulted his father-in-law who fell on the stairs and bruised his jaw. "It was an uncivilized way to behave in a public space," Sharma said, adding that he intended to pursue the matter legally.
A police officer confirmed that Sharma and his guests had objected to the noise created by Saif and his friends. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
Saif has been involved in public spats earlier too, including some photojournalists in Patiala in September 2008. The actor has won the Padma Shri award, which did not go down well with the Bishnoi community in Rajasthan as he is accused of killing a blackbuck -- an animal the Bishnois hold sacred.

Rajinikanth met with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to hand over a 10-lakh contribution to the state government's Thane cyclone relief fund. This was his first meeting with Jayalalithaa after his recovery.
"I just came to donate Rs 10 lakh for cyclone Thane Relief Fund. This is my first meeting with her after I recovered.
The CM had promised all help and it's a courtesy call, " he said. The Thalaivar, as Rajinikanth is popularly known among his fans, is all set to start work on his next film Kochadaiyaan .
His earlier project Rana , will now reportedly be revived after Kochadaiyaan. It was during the shoot of Rana that Rajinikanth first fell ill, in April last year.
Kochadaiyaan will be Rajinikanth's first 3D film which is being directed by daughter Soundarya. Katrina Kaif has reportedly landed the role opposite Rajinikanth in the film.

So sweet! She asked me to make a cameo appearance in the film with her father. I immediately flew down to Chennai.
When it comes to anything to do with Rajinikanth, one doesn't ask questions. One just does the needful," said Jackie.
"It's an interesting cameo which Soundarya insisted only I could play. I believe the film is in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
But even if it was in Swahili, I'd run and do it for Rajinikanth," added the actor who turned 52 Wednesday. He had to rush to Chennai for the shoot and said, "My birthday is generally a very quiet affair.
As always my rakhi-sister Anna Singh came home. Then we went to Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's sangeet.
That's where I brought in my birthday. I flew into Chennai for Rajiniji's film early next morning.
I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday." Getting a little philosophical, Jackie said: "Honestly a birthday is no big deal.
I am just beginning to understand life. My first 40 years went into growing up.

It was so much fun. I was the North Indian, he was my South Indian brother.
During the lunch break Ayesha and I decided to get married. Just the two of us and those close to us.
There was Rajiniji, Subhash Ghai, Dimple Kapadia, Anupam Kher and a few of my other friends, that's it. So you see, I've very fond memories of Rajnikanth and would never say no to anything to do with him or his family," said the actor.

(less)Deepika Padukone to star against Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan

Kochadaiyaan is a 3D film, which is expected to be shot with motion capture. So far, the confirmed cast of the film includes Rajinikanth, R.
Sarathkumar and now Deepika Padukone. Oscar winner A R Rahman will compose the music.
Earlier, Katrina Kaif was reportedly in the running for the coveted role opposite the superstar lovingly hailed as the Thalaivar by fans. Soundarya did post on Twitter that she was indeed in talks with Katrina, but there was no confirmation.
Deepika will keep her fingers crossed for this one, since her earlier chance to work with Rajinikanth never took off. That film, Rana , a lavish period film, was postponed indefinitely when Rajinikanth fell ill on the very first day of the shoot in April last year.
He then took treatment for a kidney ailment in India and Singapore. Unconfirmed reports said Rana would be revived after Kochadaiyaan .
Shooting for Kochadaiyaan began on January 28. "Great moment and day flowers aarti coconut breaking puja and my husband super star on make up chair cheers to kochadayaan thankyou god," posted Latha Rajinikanth, wife of the superstar, on Twitter.
The first look of Kochadaiyaan was released on Sunday. Age is no bar for the superstar as at 61, the first look shows his spectacular six-pack abs.

" Kochadaiyaan , an epic love story of a king who is a devotee of Lord Shiva, will be shot in 3D. The music has been composed by Oscar winner AR Rahman who has reportedly signed 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score for the film.
Most portions of the film have already been shot and once Katrina wraps up Yash Chopra's next opposite Shah Rukh Khan, she will be ready to work with this "Rana" for the first time! Speaking of Rana, Deepika Padukone was slated to star opposite Rajinikanth in this period drama, which has been postponed repeatedly due to the superstar's illness and long convalescence. Some reports say the work on the film will now resume after Kochadaiyaan.

We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror.
"We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months.
" When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, "Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon." Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule.
All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said.
"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source.
A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.
As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend. The first look of Kochadaiyaan, which literally means, "the king with long hair", will be unveiled in the third week of January.

Accompanied by his daughter Soundarya, Rajini shot for the much publicised scene with Shah Rukh taking a one day break from his acting sabbatical and process of recuperation. Though his family had earlier mentioned that the iconic south Indian star would not be travelling to Mumbai for the single shot, Rajini arrived in the city with Soundarya and a team of technicians on Sunday morning.
After a brief rest, the actor headed to Ghai's Whistling Woods studio and shot for the scene. Bidding the superstar farewell, SRK and RA.
One team headed back to the postproduction studio to put in place the scene that officially completes the RA.One shoot.
An eyewitness informed Mumbai Mirror, "Shah Rukh Khan and Rajini Sir hit it off instantly. Rajini Sir's daughter Soundarya had brought along her team of technicians from Chennai to make sure no time was wasted.
She made it clear that her father would not be able to shoot for more than a couple of hours. The shot however, was wrapped up well within the time limit.
" Shah Rukh, it seems, went out of his way to make the superstar comfortable during the shot. "They were extremely relaxed with each other.
Shah Rukh made sure that the older actor was okay. It was pretty evident that Shah Rukh is a Rajinikanth fan himself.
" According to insiders, the shot is a replica of the Robot scene where the robotic Rajini turns magnetic and grabs all the metal guns. In this, however, it is Shah Rukh who tries to do the same.
But the guns don't come to him. All metallic object fly past SRK to the one man standing behind him - Rajinikanth! Speaking about the 'humbling, inspiring and overwhelming experience', RA.
One sound designer Resul Pookutty said, "The shooting went off like a dream. Watching Rajini Sir and SRK together was like a dream come true.
This truly was a great tribute from a superstar to an icon "The RA.One team feels the film is complete now, after Rajini Sir's shot.
Rajini Sir and Shah Rukh in one frame is historic. They were so comfortable with each other, it was hard to imagine that they had never shot together before," added Pookutty.
However, Pookutty felt that the shoot couldn't have happened without Soundarya's support. "She came to Mumbai with her team to oversee every detail.
But it was Rajinikanth who proved that he indeed is a superstar by flying down to Mumbai despite his health problems. It's not easy to do what Rajini Sir did for the RA.

How rigorous was it shooting for the film? It took almost two hours to wear the superhero costume. But there were all these girls who helped me, so it was nice.
I lost about six kgs during the shoot of this film. Will you go back to romancing girls after being a superhero? I enjoyed doing this film, but now I want to make romantic movies.
Very soon you will be promoting Don 2 as an anti-hero. Will your fans globally be able to accept that image? I am sure that if people like me as a superhero, they will like me in a stubbly beard as well.
They are two different films, with two different looks and yes, I have given both my best shot. Why is the rest of the cast - Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal - not promoting the film? Kareena is shooting for another film and I hate to disturb my actors.

Amitabh, known for his distinct baritone, drove down Thursday morning to do a voiceover for the movie. He left Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty amazed by his skill and dexterity.
"He came and finished his work in no time. We wanted him to introduce the game RA.

About a month ago, a post appeared on the wall of a Rajinikanth fan page on Facebook that said 'We should celebrate Thalaivar's birthday as World Style Day' and this set the virtual juggernaut rolling. "Once that started, every online fan thought it was a great idea and have been garnering support to make World Style Day a reality," explains Vinodh K R, an ardent fan and virtual fan club moderator.
"More and more people have begun spreading the message through word-of-mouth as his birthday (December 12) comes closer," he adds. With the backing of close to one lakh fans online, you'd think that World Style Day might actually become a reality by the time the Superstar completes 61 years of age.
But there are bigger plans afoot, claims Vinodh, "Everything we do for him has to be big. Next year's birthday (12-12-12) will be a landmark day in the history of the universe and by this time, we will have managed to have his birthday declared officially as World Style Day.
" Till then, posters, publicity and petitions to everyone from the Chief Minister and the President of India will be sent. B'day Bash But for 'Rajini 62', plans for a grand bash have WFbeen in the works for almost a month.
This time, a unified bash for the superstar has been planned on December 13 at Valluvar Kottam. The best part is that everything will have a '62' twist to it, says an excited Saidai G Ravi, office bearer of the Chennai district and head of Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Association.
"If 62 people are given free clothes, then students' fees amounting to `62,000 will be donated, there will be 62 everywhere," he says and adds excitedly, "We will also set off 62 sky decorators (rockets) that will fire 240 shots in the air around Valluvar Kottam, so that it can be seen at his (Rajini's) residence." And they're a stickler for crowd control too, "Only 40 invites have been sent to each district fan club," says K Thayumanavan, President of the Fans Welfare Association in Tiruvarur.
"No one will be allowed in without the invitation bearing the 3-D hologram," he adds. But there's a reason why they don't want to open the floodgates and allow fans to witness industry bigwigs like SP Muthuraman and Kalaipuli S Dhanu felicitating their hero.

Buzz is that apart from Anushka Sharma and Asin, even Vidya has been approached to play one of the leading ladies in the film. A source said, "Like most people, Vidya too has immense respect for Rajini sir.
Unfortunately, the last time she was approached for a role in his film, there wasn't a proper script in place. So she was not in a position to decide if she really wanted to take up the role, as the details were very sketchy.
" However, this time things seem to be looking up. Sources said that the actress has been given a proper character graph and everything that she would require to learn about the story and her role.
The source added, "Vidya is the flavour of the season. She has proven herself time and again and Soundarya (the producer) is looking for someone who can do complete justice to the part.

Puri, who had let go two big projects for the Amitabh Bachchan starrer, is still waiting for the settlement. The filmmaker is in fact, more concerned about receiving the agreement documents from the producers, revealed a source.
"Puri is not concerned about the payment at the moment. He wants the documents to file his income tax returns.
The documents that were earlier sent to him by the producers did not have the required signatures. The final documents never reached him.
Puri even contacted AB Corp officials. But they were not even aware it seems," informed the source.
When contacted, Vikram Malhotra , COO of Studio 18 said, "As a policy, we do not comment on any commercial matter pertaining to our organisation or to our partners. I am sure whatever the issue is, it will be resolved.

In fact, Rajini's daughter Soundarya has been urgently trying to reach Atul, but to no avail. "I've tried to contact Atul Agnihotri, but I haven't got any response.
We have not authorised anyone to do a biopic on my father. We reserve our rights on this matter," she says, adding that she is still open to discussing the matter with the producer.
Interestingly, in a recent interview Atul reportedly said, "There is a huge responsibility involved in making a film on Rajinikanth. We need his approval and contribution.
Making a film on him will be an enriching experience for us." His apparent reluctance to resolve the matter with the family, therefore, is surprising.

Reports of similarities between Endhiran and Ra.One have been surfacing since SRK's film went on the floors but the Bollywood actor claims that his release is different.
"They ( Endhiran and Ra.One ) are different films.
I will not like to talk about anyone else's film but Rajni sir is respectable to all of us. Actually, we have a tribute to Rajini sir in our film.
We love him," Shah Rukh told reporters here last night. Ra.
One , a sci-fi superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha, stars Shah Rukh, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in lead roles with Shahana Goswami, Dilip Tahil and Chinese-American actor Tom Wu in supporting roles. Endhiran directed by S Shankar featured Rajinikanth in dual roles - as a scientist and an android robot - alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Shah Rukh said his film is indigenous and made in India. "Everything you have seen is produced here.

Besides, Ra.One will also be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu for the southern audience.

In this Hindu-Muslim love story, Rishi Kapoor plays a Hindu lawyer while Amitabh Bachchan will play a Muslim commissioner of police.
And if Big B decides to come on board, Amitabh and Rishi will be coming together on the big screen after a gap of 28 years. The two had last worked together in "Coolie" in 1983.
Talking about the storyline, Rishi revealed: "It is a story about two best friends who haven't spoken for 40 years. It's a romantic film, but also very funny.
We're going to have look-alike playing the young Rishi Kapoor and the Big B. I want to work with Amitji.

Earlier, Katrina Kaif was reportedly in the running for the coveted role opposite the superstar lovingly hailed as the Thalaivar by fans. Soundarya did post on Twitter that she was indeed in talks with Katrina, but there was no confirmation.
Deepika will keep her fingers crossed for this one, since her earlier chance to work with Rajinikanth never took off. That film, Rana , a lavish period film, was postponed indefinitely when Rajinikanth fell ill on the very first day of the shoot in April last year.
He then took treatment for a kidney ailment in India and Singapore. Unconfirmed reports said Rana would be revived after Kochadaiyaan .

Singham Years after he thought standing on two speeding bikes was the coolest thing ever, Ajay Devgn did something cooler (and we are not talking of his tattoos). Clad in khaki hues, he said, 'Abhi ke abhi' to 'Meri zarooratein kam hai, isliye mere iman me dum hai' - Ajay was surely dumdaar enough to carry the movie to the next level - the opening collections created new BO record.
Even baddie Prakash Raj got his share of one-liners, 'Ata mazhi satakli', to which Devgn replied, 'Ata tujhi satkel.' The dirty picture Director Milan Luthria and producer Ekta Kapoor clearly understood how badly the audience wanted to wolf-whistle and throwing chillars everytime the hero/heroine spoke her/his lines.
Here was a heroine who delivered one liners that could give her male counterparts (in the film and the industry) a run for their money. Vidya Balan topped the year with her impeccable performance and flawlessly dished out an entire series of witty punch lines that might have been also instrumental in the film's A-certification.
Vidya's 'main entertainment hoon' and 'Mera naam badnaam hokar hua hain' were simply teasers that sent the audience drooling in collective fantasy in the dark confines of a movie theatre. Ooooh la la anyone? Buddah Hoga Terra Baap The original angry young man and the principal packs some more power-packed lines in his new, revamped macho avatar.
In Puri Jagannath's Hindi directorial debut Big B's is the angry not so young man whose dialogues are 'beeped' into silence (this one is to save the Censor Board some time and hassle, and leave the room open for imagination). His epic one-liner 'Hum jahan khade hote hai, line wahin se shuru ho jati hai' shared space with many brand new ones like 'Yeh aaj-kal ke bachche hamen copy karne lage hai' in the film.
Dialogues abhi baaki hai The five minute long frustrated lover's rant and rave in Pyaar Ka Punchnama by the character of Rajat (Kartik Tiwari), the giggling trio of "Delhi Belly" and many other movies like "Yeh Saali Zindagi" and "Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster" also deserve mention here for working hard to live up to the trend of 'dialogues are back'. With upcoming remakes like "Agneepath" and "Chasme Baddoor" (remembered for their witty one-liners), looks like there will be plenty of bindaas bol moment for us in store.

" Kochadaiyaan , an epic love story of a king who is a devotee of Lord Shiva, will be shot in 3D. The music has been composed by Oscar winner AR Rahman who has reportedly signed 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score for the film.
Most portions of the film have already been shot and once Katrina wraps up Yash Chopra's next opposite Shah Rukh Khan, she will be ready to work with this "Rana" for the first time! Speaking of Rana, Deepika Padukone was slated to star opposite Rajinikanth in this period drama, which has been postponed repeatedly due to the superstar's illness and long convalescence. Some reports say the work on the film will now resume after Kochadaiyaan.

In fact, Rajini's daughter Soundarya has been urgently trying to reach Atul, but to no avail. "I've tried to contact Atul Agnihotri, but I haven't got any response.
We have not authorised anyone to do a biopic on my father. We reserve our rights on this matter," she says, adding that she is still open to discussing the matter with the producer.
Interestingly, in a recent interview Atul reportedly said, "There is a huge responsibility involved in making a film on Rajinikanth. We need his approval and contribution.
Making a film on him will be an enriching experience for us." His apparent reluctance to resolve the matter with the family, therefore, is surprising.

Work on the movie has already started, story and screenplay of the film has been written by director K S Ravikumar. Director of the film Soundarya tweeted, "'Kochadaiyaan' is one of Lord Shiva's names.
This is a prequel to 'Rana'. Its performance capture will be similar to (that of) 'Avatar'.
" The clarification seems to have strengthened the belief that Rajinikanth has a special place for Lord Shiva in his heart. Apparently, two of the superstar's earlier films - Arunachalam and Annamalai - that went on to become blockbusters too, had the names of Lord Shiva as their titles.

Buzz is that apart from Anushka Sharma and Asin, even Vidya has been approached to play one of the leading ladies in the film. A source said, "Like most people, Vidya too has immense respect for Rajini sir.
Unfortunately, the last time she was approached for a role in his film, there wasn't a proper script in place. So she was not in a position to decide if she really wanted to take up the role, as the details were very sketchy.
" However, this time things seem to be looking up. Sources said that the actress has been given a proper character graph and everything that she would require to learn about the story and her role.
The source added, "Vidya is the flavour of the season. She has proven herself time and again and Soundarya (the producer) is looking for someone who can do complete justice to the part.

We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror.
"We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months.
" When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, "Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon." Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule.
All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said.
"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source.
A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.
As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend. The first look of Kochadaiyaan, which literally means, "the king with long hair", will be unveiled in the third week of January.
Of course, Rajinikanth will sport long flowing tresses for the part..

One"! But Rajini did arrive here Sunday with Soundarya and her team of technicians. In the afternoon, the megastar and his team headed for Ghai's studio and shot the scene amidst an environment of incredible bonhomie.

At the moment, I am only doing one film - Bol Bachchan," says Junior B. But rumour has it that the Rohit Shetty directorial has landed itself in a title tussle, with producer Aarif Khan claiming that he is making a film with the same title.
But Abhishek chooses to keep mum about the issue. "I am not aware of it," he says dismissively.
Remakes of classics seem to be the flavour of the season, what with two of Abhishek's father Amitabh Bachchan's films -Don and Agneepath - being the inspiration for new films. "Well, I didn't get to watch Don 2 and I hope the Agneepath team has done a good job and I wish them all the best," he says, and adds, "All my father's films are classics.
I don't think there is a need to remake any of them. His films can be watched even today.
" In the meantime, it is his daughter - still known to the world as Beti B - who absorbs his attention. Ask him what the experience of being a father is like and he says, "Well, I have rehearsed these lines many times, but somehow I am never able to express my feelings on the subject.

Earlier, Katrina Kaif was reportedly in the running for the coveted role opposite the superstar lovingly hailed as the Thalaivar by fans. Soundarya did post on Twitter that she was indeed in talks with Katrina, but there was no confirmation.
Deepika will keep her fingers crossed for this one, since her earlier chance to work with Rajinikanth never took off. That film, Rana , a lavish period film, was postponed indefinitely when Rajinikanth fell ill on the very first day of the shoot in April last year.
He then took treatment for a kidney ailment in India and Singapore. Unconfirmed reports said Rana would be revived after Kochadaiyaan .
