(less)Saif Ali Khan surrenders, charged with assault, granted bail
According to reports, he was questioned, charged with assault and then granted bail. Earlier, the actor got into a scuffle in a five star hotel restaurant last night and apparently punched a man in his face and broke his nose.
A case under section 325 of the IPC had been registered against Saif. The incident took place last night at Wasabi restaurant, Taj Hotel when he, along with Kareena, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak and a few friends, were having dinner.
Iqbal M Sharma, a temporary resident of Juhu, was sitting with his family at an adjoining table. According to reports, Iqbal complained about the clamour that Saif and his friends made.
This ticked off Saif and a scuffle broke between the two. Saif, reportedly, told Iqbal to go to a library to find quiet.
Some reports suggested that the fight actually broke between Amrita Arora Ladak's husband Shakeel Ladak and Iqbal. But it was only when Saif intervened that he got into a brawl with Iqbal.
Post the scuffle, Iqbal lodged a complaint that Saif and two of his associates assaulted him with fist blows, causing fracture to his nose. A case has been registered against the actor with the Colaba police station.
According to Times Now, Iqbal M Sharma is the deputy director of department of trade & investment, South Africa. He is a South African national of Indian origin.
Iqbal told Times Now that Saif and his friends abused him and his father-in-law verbally and assaulted them physically. Hawaldar Welkar of the Colaba Police station in Mumbai confirmed the news and told us, "Yes, a case was registered against Saif Ali Khan by Iqbal Sharma , last night for some fight that took place between them in Hotel Taj last night.
Rest of the details are with my boss ACP Iqbal Sheikh." When contacted ACP Iqbal Sheikh said, "We are conducting an inquiry into the matter and we will be questioning every one involved in this case.
If required we will be arresting who ever is at fault." Meanwhile the people at Wasabi refused to comment on the incident.
Pankaj Singh , the floor manager at the Wasabi said, "I wasn't here last night so I don't know about anything that happened at the restaurant nor have I heard anything from anyone here."

(less)I was abused, assaulted: Saif Ali Khan
I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law-abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces.
I think they have the CCTV footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided.

(less)I'm not competing with Salman Khan: Kulraj Randhawa
Her character is shown to be fearless, bubbly and extremely talkative."I play a dabangg girl, she doesn't care what she is getting into.
But I am not competing with Salman Khan, he remains the original dabangg," she states, flashing her dimpled smile. "Everybody wants to have a piece of Chandni because she is happy and always ready to help others.
She has the best of solutions for everything. Her energy is so infectious that everybody wants to fall in love with her," says the actress about her character.
But she adds that playing Chandni wasn't easy. "Chandni had to be loveable yet not irritating.
She is innocent yet funny, witty and sharp. So while I had to strike the right balance, I didn't want to overact either.
Also, I didn't ape any actress who has played a similar role in the past," explains the actress. It was veteran actor Anupam Kher and his acting school that helped her get into the character.
"I was working with a huge cast with several senior actors. It was not just about playing the lead but essaying the title role of someone who binds the characters together," Kulraj adds Produced and directed by Samir Karnik, Chaar Din Ki Chandni is slated to release on March 9
(less)B'town filmakers turn ad maker
Tremendous control over the medium has enabled Bollywood to get some big bucks from a talented lot of ad filmmakers who turned directors and vice versa. Now the tables have turned and how! Filmmakers Abhinay Deo, Dibakar Banerjee, Imtiaz Ali, Tarun Mansukhani, Bejoy Nambiar and Rajkumar Hirani are also directing TVCs even as they continue their B-Town stint.
Imtiaz directed Neetu Kapoor and Jimmy Shergill in a bank ad, Tarun Mansukhani directed Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar in a paint commercial, Dibakar directed Imran Khan in a cola ad, Hirani directed Sharman Joshi in a soft drink ad and Bejoy directed MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi in a bike ad. Abhinay says, "Filmmaking is about how the fat is thrown out and the meat is presented to the audiences.
We can't afford to splurge in advertising. Ad filmmakers understand nuances like color coordination well.
And most importantly content comes first, technique comes later." Says adman Prahlad Kakar, "While ad filmmakers are more educated than regular Bollywood filmmakers and more professional, when a Bollywood filmmaker directs an ad, their connection with celebs comes to the platter of ad filmmaking.
Actors don't throw starry tantrums with known filmmakers when they do an ad." Abhinay however refutes the claim and says as an ad filmmaker he never tries "to consciously work with celebs.
In that case, the celeb becomes the script and the ad has no further scope." R Balki, a creative director of a leading ad agency feels, "The mindset of a person watching an ad and a film is different.
Otherwise both the mediums involve storytelling and they are not very different. Ad films teach you to communicate a concept and if it is about big bucks then ad filmmaking is also about big bucks.
" Well, as along as viewers get wholesome entertainment in a 30 second TVC with a starry cast and tampered with some master storytelling and smart packaging, it's a win-win situation for everyone involved
(less)Saif Ali Khan arrested for assaulting businessman, released on bail
A battery of top police officers were waiting for the actor, besides the media and scores of fans outside the police station. In the afternoon, police sent a team to Saif's house and after failing to locate him there, had ordered him to appear before it as early as possible.
Saif was virtually declared 'wanted' for assaulting South African NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma , who is also the director general and CEO of the Trade, Industry & Investments of South Africa. The actor has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly assaulting Sharma in the Taj Mahal Hotel around 1 am on Wednesday morning.
Police said a case of assault had been registered at the Colaba police station. After his release the actor in a statement said, "There was an ugly incident last night where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted.
I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen.
I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I don't think any gentleman would have behaved differently" Police are also questioning staff at the hotel and examining the CCTV footage. Legal experts that the offences for which Saif has been booked are bailable.
Sharma told Times Now television that Saif called him an "idiot" for complaining about the actor's loud conduct at a restaurant in the Taj Mahal Hotel. He said he and his family had requested the restaurant manager to ask Saif and his friends, which included Kareena, Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora Khan, to keep their voices down.
Sharma said he and his family decided to move to another part of the restaurant downstairs. "As we were going down the stairs, Saif was coming up, probably from the toilet.
As he passed me, he called me an idiot and asked 'Do you know who I am?'" Sharma said the actor first pushed him and then assaulted his father-in-law who fell on the stairs and bruised his jaw. "It was an uncivilized way to behave in a public space," Sharma said, adding that he intended to pursue the matter legally.
A police officer confirmed that Sharma and his guests had objected to the noise created by Saif and his friends. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
Saif has been involved in public spats earlier too, including some photojournalists in Patiala in September 2008. The actor has won the Padma Shri award, which did not go down well with the Bishnoi community in Rajasthan as he is accused of killing a blackbuck -- an animal the Bishnois hold sacred.
Saif was charged with poaching as the blackbuck is on the endangered list

'Joker' is not comedy: Shrish Kunder
Maybe because of the word 'Joker', it is presumed as a comedy. But even 'Mera Naam Joker' was not a comedy," the 38-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles, the film is set for a 2012 release. Kunder, married to choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, denied the film was inspired by 2010 Hollywood film " Alice in Wonderland ".
He says the only thing common between both the projects is the fantasy factor. "Joker" is being jointly produced by Kunder and Farah's Three's Company and Akshay Kumar's Hari Om Entertainment Co.
In the past, Kunder has edited films like "Main Hoon Na" and "Om Shanti Om". His debut directorial movie "Jaan-E-Mann" released in 2006
(less)Shan Rukh, Farah face-off on August 31
The fact that both the Khans are aggressive when it comes to promoting their films is also not new. However, what does come as a surprise is the fact that both have decided to release their films on the same day, August 31, 2012.
Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Farah's film Joker, which has been directed by her husband Shirish Kunder and SRK's co-production with KJo's Dharma, Student Of The Year will clash at the box office in the second half of the year. While, Farah had announced the release date for Joker earlier, Red Chillies and Dharma have just finalised the date and are yet to make an announcement.
Unaware of any news of Student Of The Year's release date, Joker director Shirish Kunder said, "I am not aware of the release date of the other film. As far as I am concerned, Joker is definitely coming on the 31st of August.
" Karan Johar chose not to reply. However, once the dates are announced, it would be interesting to see how the former friends Farah and SRK deal with the marketing of their ventures.
Keeping Farah and SRK's marketing tactics in mind, an industry expert contemplating on what could possibly precede the two releases, told Mumbai Mirror, "Farah and SRK are both extremely strong headed. They will start a volley of verbal attacks and not leave any stone unturned for their film to be in the news.
" Sanjay Leela Bhansali had earlier faced similar attacks from Farah and SRK when Saawariya released alongside Om Shanti Om in 2007. But that was when Farah and SRK were still bosom buddies.
The rift between the two good friends was formed when Farah announced Tees Maar Khan with SRK's rival Akshay Kumar . Though Farah and SRK have still maintained that they are 'good' friends, a series of incidents have proved otherwise.
For example, Farah's husband Shirish Kunder had posted several tweets making fun of SRK's RA.One .
He had called it a Rs 150 crore firework that fizzled out. Also, at Farah Khan's recent housewarming party, SRK was conspicuously left out of the guest list.

(less)Boman Irani's son to make debut in KJo's Student of the Year
Now, the budding director has been signed for Johar's film but his role has not been disclosed yet. "Ok.

He has suddenly found himself in the middle of so many things that he only wished there were more than 24-hours in a day. Apparently, the filmmaker who is busy with the shooting of Student of the Year , also finds himself running to studios to sit on the editing and post production of Agneepath and Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu which release within a fortnight of each other.
The movies that were scheduled to release in 2011 got pushed to a 2012 early release and KJo now finds himself in a fix running from pillar to post to keep deadline. He does wish that the movies were a little more spaced out, but with the current crunch the scene will have to be handled.
And KJo is in action!
(less)Abbas's son Mustafa to make his acting debut
The 24-year-old Mustafa will be seen in an interesting cameo opposite Sonam Kapoor in the upcoming film. The sequence was shot in Russia.
Explaining his role in the film, Mustafa told Mumbai Mirror, "I enjoyed doing my bit in my dad's film. But my goal is to become a director.
I love filmmaking. In fact, I have done a course in New York Film Academy.
" "It is short scene with Sonam where she tries to seduce me so that she can reach her destination. In the end, she gets what she wanted but I end up getting nothing," Mustafa added.
The short cameo did not deter Mustafa from getting some hands-on experience in filmmaking either. "I assisted my father during Players.
It was a rather good learning experience," said Mustafa. And like his father, Mustafa too, likes thrillers.
"I prefer horror thrillers and dark comedy," added the 24-year-old. On a lighter note, when asked about his dressing habits, Mustafa revealed that unlike his father and his uncle, he never wears all-white ensembles.
"I do wear a white shirt at times. But never all white," laughed the actor.
Taking this opportunity, we slipped in a naughty question as well. When asked to name one heroine who he thinks will look sexier than Bipasha in a red bikini, pat came the reply, "Jacqueline Fernandez would look really hot.

(less)Shah Rukh Khan to do a cameo in Student Of The Year
However, it seems that Johar is not yet ready to give up his lucky charm, A source informed Mumbai Mirror that Johar asked SRK to do a cameo in the film, since the actor has always been featured in every one of his productions. The source explained, "It was one of those 'I have never directed a film without you in it, so why should this time be an exception?' That's why SRK agreed to do a special appearance for the film.
However, what is uncertain is the duration of his cameo." Reportedly, Shah Rukh was initially supposed to star as a dean in Student Of The Year.

(less)Hrithik Roshan: My Agneepath is not a remake
"I was never interested in doing remakes, I am still not interested in doing remakes and I don't think I will ever do a remake. When I was narrated the script, in 10 miniutes he made me forget that it was a remake and made me forget all the symbolic visuals I had in mind and I just reacted as an actor.
I am very, very proud to be associated with this film," Hrithik told reporters at the launch of the first teaser of the film here Monday. "I am just driven by my instincts.
Whatever my mind says, my instincts just take over. He just made me forget about all the emotions I had about this film and he took me to a completely different world, with a completely new character," he added The original "Agneepath" directed by Mukul Anand, wasn't commercially successful but gave an iconic character Vijay Deenanath Chauhan that fetched megastar Amitabh Bachchan a National Award for Best Actor.
Asked if he had reprised any traits of the original character, Hrithik said: "I didn't have any reference point. I only had what Karan (Malhotra) had written in the script and it was absolutely a new space, which was a good thing, as I didn't want to have a reference point.
" Hrithik maintains that if he had to compete with Big B, he would have definitely failed. "If the competition had been in my mind then I would have definitely failed.
For me it's just another character," said Hrithik. Releasing Jan 12, 2012, the film also features actor Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and actress Priyanka Chopra in pivotal roles

Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing a FIR or police complaint." While there was a time when Farah Khan couldn't think of working with anyone else but SRK, 2010 changed the bonhomie to bitterness between the two.
Farah picked Akshay Kumar over SRK for Tees Maar Khan , reportedly because she didn't want people to think that she made films only for SRK. Post that, Farah Khan tried to make amends with SRK, even hugging him on a TV dance reality show, but Shirish Kunder took potshots at SRK on Twitter after the release of SRK's sci-fi flick, Ra.
One. He tweeted, "The super hero in Ra One has all the powers in the world, but to entertain.
" Going a step further, Shirish called it a flop. The filmmaker wrote, "I just heard a 150 cr firework fizzle.
" He went on to compare the business of Ra.One with collection of Salman Khan's blockbuster flick, Bodyguard on the first day.
The filmmaker tweeted, "Bodyguard is trending. Everything else is pending.
" Shirish Kunder too was once close to SRK and he has worked as editor for his hit movies like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. But their friendship reportedly fell through when SRK turned down Joker, Shirish's new film.
The other celebrities present at the party, however, have come out in support of King Khan, saying Kunder had it coming. "Shahrukh is supr rockin.

(less)10 Bollywood Debutantes to look forward to in 2012
The New Year holds a lot of new promise in Bollywood. We list down 10 debutantes to look forward to in 2012.
Varun Dhawan: David Dhawan's elder son Rohit Dhawan made his debut as a director in 2011 with Desi Boyz. His younger son Varun Dhawan will debut as an actor with Karan Johar's ambitious project 'Student of the Year'.
Both sons of David Dhawan have paved their own path into Bollywood without the need of their father having to launch them. Varun has earlier assisted Karan Johar on My Name is Khan .
Alia Bhatt: Other than David Dhawan's son, Karan Johar will also be introducing Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia Bhatt in his campus love-story 'Student of the Year'. Alia Bhatt is Mahesh Bhatt's daughter from his second wife Soni Razdan.
Again like in the case of Varun Dhawan, even Alia isn't being launched by the Bhatt banner Vishesh Films, especially when Bhatts are known for introducing several new talents in Bollywood. Nevertheless with Karan Johar at the helm of affairs, it should be a dream debut for Alia anyways.
Siddharth Malhotra: Siddharth completes the debut factor in the lead cast of Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year'. Not to be confused with the director of We Are Family (also a Karan Johar production), Siddharth Malhotra is a Delhi boy who boasts of great looks.
Karan Johar would ensure he acts well too. Arjun Kapoor: 2012 seems to be a year when most celebrity children are being launched in banners outside their home productions.
Prominent Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor's son and Anil Kapoor's nephew, Arjun Kapoor will be launched by Yash Raj Films. Arjun was to debut with a film called 'Virus Diwan' until the banner scrapped the project and is now introducing him with 'Ishaqzaade' to be directed by Do Dooni Chaar director Habib Faisal.
Like Cousin Sonam Kapoor, even Arjun used to be overweight at 140 kgs. But under Salman Khan's gym-guidance, he lost oodles of weight and is now his smashing-self.
Arjun Kapoor assisted on films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Salaam-e-Ishq, Wanted and No Entry . Ileana D'cruz: Ileana is a popular Telugu actress who has to her credit superhit films like Pokiri, Kick and Nenu Naa Rakshasi.
She makes her Bollywood debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in 'Barfii'. Director Anurag Basu has put her through meticulous diction coaching so that she is comfortable with the Hindi language.
And with Ranbir playing a mute character, she is expected to do all the talking in the film. Subsequently she will be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Khiladi 786' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2'.
Tapsee Pannu: Another Telugu actress Tapsee Pannu will be making her debut in the remake of 'Chashme Buddoor' being directed by David Dhawan. The charming actress will be reprising Deepti Naval's role from the original and is paired opposite Ali Zafar in the film.
Tapsee was a Miss India contestant in 2008. Amy Jackson: After Katrina Kaif and Nargis Fakhri, Amy Jackson in another foreign import in Bollywood who will make her debut opposite Prateik Babbar in 'Ek Deewana Tha' - the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa .
The ravishing looking actress has won titles like Miss Teen 2008 and has already worked in a Tamil film Madrasapattinam . Esha Gupta: Model Esha Gupta bagged the role in 'Jannat 2' for her hot looks and sex appeal.
Bhatts wanted an actress with a bold body language and thereby she replaced girl-next-door Prachi Desai who was earlier signed for the film. The dusky bombshell is known as the desi Angelina Jolie in modeling world and was also considered as the second lead for Krrish sequel.
Pulkit Samrat: Best known for his television stint as Lakshya Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi , Pulkit Samrat was out of the scene following fallout with Ekta Kapoor. He now makes his Bollywood debut with 'Bittoo Boss' from the same banner that produced the hilarious flick Pyaar Ka Punchnama with a complete new cast.
Imran Zahid: Imran Zahid would be another Bhatt discovery who will debut with 'Jannat 2'. This theatre artist has worked with Mahesh Bhatt earlier and Jannat 2 will mark his foray into feature films
(less)Karan Johar to flash his nine gems
And Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu made as much as Rs 23 crore in the first weekend. And after the twin success of his two back-to-back releases, Karan Johar is all set to launch as many as nine new projects this year under his banner Dharma Productions.
Interestingly, the two successful Dharma releases this year have been direted by debutante filmmakers Karan Malhotra and Shakun Batra. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that KJo, will now launch a few more first timers.
When contacted, Karan Johar told Mumbai Mirror, "At Dharma, we have already introduced nine directors. We are extremely proud of their films.
Taking the train of thought further, we plan to expand our production base and launch many more first time filmmakers in the immediate future." And surely enough, KJo's plans for the year include a lot of fresh talent - in acting as well as filmmaking.
Firstly, in his maiden co-production with good friend Shah Rukh Khan, Student Of The Year, KJo is all set to direct three new actors - Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The filmmaker will also launch Dharma talent Sonam Nair as a director this year.
For his co-production with Ekta Kapoor , KJo has roped in debutante director Akshay Roy. Ruchi Narain, who had earlier directed Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow, is also being re-launched by KJo, this year.
We plan to launch more first timers in the immediate future KJo's 2012 Diary His own directorial Student Of The Year A film with Rensil D'Silva Ayaan Mukerji's Jawaani Deewani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone Punit Malhotra's next A film with Ruchi Narain Sonam Nair's directorial debut Ekta Kapoor's co-production to be directed by Akshay Roy A film starring Hrithik Roshan A co-production with Sajid Nadiadwala which is the official rendition of Chetan Bhagat's novel 3 Mistakes Of My Life Nine directors launched by KJo Nikhil Advani Kal Ho Na Ho Soham Shah Kaal Tarun Mansukhani Dostana Rensil Dsilva Kurbaan Siddharth Malhotra We Are Family Ayan Mukherji Wake Up Sid Punit Malhotra I Hate Luv Storys Karan Malhotra Agneepath Shakun Batra Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu
(less)My Agneepath is a tribute to the original: Karan
"I hope everyone feels as emotional about it as I do," says Karan, who will release a one-and-a-half-minute teaser of the film today. The film releases on January 13, 2012.
Minutes before the teaser was unveiled, KJo tells us, "There is so much curiosity about Agneepath, that's why I have released this teaser so much in advance. I want to put the curiosity to rest and let people know that this Agneepath is not a remake.
It is a tribute to the original, with many new facets." He reminds you that the 1990 version - produced by Yash Johar and directed by Mukul Anand - attained cult status.
It's a film all of us at Dharma are emotional about. It may not have been a commercial success, but it is still one of Amit uncle's (Amitabh Bachchan) most popular films.
When Karan (Malhotra) expressed a desire to make his version, all of us were more than happy. I know my father would have liked it this way.
" Incidentally, the August 29 teaser precedes the theatrical trailer of Agneepath that will release with Ra.One this Diwali.
Agneepath has some old characters - like Vijay Dinanath Chauhan ( Hrithik Roshan ) and Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) - and some new. The character being played by Rishi Kapoor was not a part of the original film.
Even the Priyanka Chopra-Hrithik Roshan love story in the tribute has no resonance to the Madhavi-Amitabh track of the 1990 version. "In the teaser, you will see these four fantastic actors and superstars," he promises.
"`You will also notice that this version of Agneepath has a different texture, a different tonality. It is a readapted and re-energised version that will take people by surprise.
The original had an ethos that was closer to the time (the 90s). This one will obviously be contemporary.
Karan has paid a tribute to my father and Mukul, and I'm happy to stand by his side."
(less)Karan Johar's really excited
Before the film's trailer hits theatres, the teaser will be launched today morning, at a suburban five star hotel. When contacted, Johar said, "We are launching our teaser of Agneepath today.
It's a tribute and homage to Mukul S Anand's Agneepath, a film that my father and production house is extremely proud of. We are thrilled to kick start a campaign with a solid 90 second unit.
" The film's trailer, which releases on August 31, will be attached to the Salman-Kareena starrer Bodyguard. The film marks the debut of director Karan Malhotra and stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.
In the original Agneepath, Amitabh Bachchan essayed the iconic character Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Danny played the villain Kancha Cheena. The film also starred Mithun Chakraborty, Madhvi, Neelam Kothari and Vikram Gokhale Watch Video'+'';} else {tmpdiV="";} var b1=""; var b2=""; var hid="526"; if(sldemsidcnt>1){imglinksh='View Images';}else{imglinksh='View Image';} var b2 = ''+''+ capt +''+ tmpdiV +''; bellyad.

Shooting for a public service msg film about education peace & harmony. Feels ironic when I read & see wot is being said," he has posted on Twitter.
As news of the brawl spread, #slapgate, #shirishkunder #srk #replaceSRKMoviesWithSlap and a barrage of humourous tweets swamped Twitter, even leading to a response from Shirish Kunder. "Some of your jokes on the incident were very funny.
Including the ones on me. Keep up the humour.
I'll be back soon," he posted. The fracas took place in the early hours of Monday morning at the party to celebrate the success of new release Agneepath, starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
A slew of Bollywood stars headed for the party held at the swanky Aurus nightclub in Juhu, right after the 57th Filmfare Awards show. Shirish Kunder reportedly left the party with a swollen face.
The party also came to an end and Dutt and SRK left with the owner of the nightclub soon after. With the incident picking up heat, a jittery Kunder said: "Everyone knows what really happened at the party; it isn't a hidden fact at all.
Of course it was ugly and I was quite shaken up with what happened. When someone attacks you from behind and comes prepared with a set of bodyguards to protect his own self, you don't really have a choice, do you? "All I feel is that if at all there was so much pent up anger in him, he could have gone verbal.
Getting physical hasn't reflected well on either of us." "Frankly, this is hardly the kind of attention that I want.
In fact I am wary of any kind of attention, be it for something as wrong as this which was completely unprovoked or even something good for which I may have been responsible. I like to keep a low profile and Sunday's late night party was one of those rare instances when I actually attended a gathering," he said.
Farah too spoke about the incident in a statement but denied they were going to pursue the matter with police. "Shahrukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on.
So it saddens me to see him doing the same," Farah said in a statement. Kunder had earlier taken to his Twitter account to say: "Thanks for all your concern & wishes.
We are very grateful. Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing a FIR or police complaint.
" Dutt, who was also present when the incident happened, denied reports that he was also involved in the fight, saying he only tried to break up the fight. "When a fight takes place so everybody who is around is blamed.
Sanjay entered to stop the fight. He had no fight or anything of that sort with Shirish," Dutt's spokesperson told PTI.
While there was a time when Farah Khan couldn't think of working with anyone else but SRK, 2010 changed the bonhomie to bitterness between the two. Farah picked Akshay Kumar over SRK for Tees Maar Khan, reportedly because she didn't want people to think that she made films only for SRK.

(less)Karan Johar chooses his directors on instinct
In the recent past, Johar has given a platform to first-time directors like Ayan Mukherji for Wake Up Sid ; Rensil D'Silva for Kurbaan ; Tarun Mansukhani for Dostana ; Siddhartha Malhotra for We Are Family ; and Punit Malhotra for I Hate Luv Storys . His upcoming production, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is also directed by newcomer Shakun Batra, while Johar's co-production with Ekta Kapoor will see newcomer Akshay Roy wielding the megaphone.
"I think it's an instinct that I have. I have got it right some times and I have gone wrong with it at times but mostly, I have gone right with the directors I have worked with because they are solid human beings and that is what I look for," the 39-year-old said here at the success party of Agneepath , a remake of his father's 1990 film by the same name.
Karan also has a handy tip for all the directors who are trying to work their way to the top. "The only thing that I did in my first film and that I would tell every first director is that let your work speak for yourself.
I never gave a single interview till Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released because I had nothing to say." "Why should anyone hear me out when they had not seen the work that I had done," said Johar, who hit the jackpot with his debut film and continued his success story with his second film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham .
"Now Karan Malhotra is open to the world of media and I would like him to spread his wings and fly and today you can ask many things from him because you have seen his film," he added. Johar's last directorial venture was My Name Is Khan for which he won the Filmfare award for best director.
He is currently busy directing his next, Student of The Year. Tweet

.," Johar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Karan's "Agneepath", a remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer, is a tribute to his father, filmmaker Yash Johar's 1990 cult film of the same name. Directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, the action-drama will see Hrithik Roshan essaying the iconic character of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Kancha Cheena.
The others who will be seen playing a pivotal role in the film are Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra
(less)'Agneepath' strikes right chords with B-Town
The Hrithik Roshan , Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra-starrer, directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, is set for release Thursday, and here's what B-Town had to say about it: Arjun Rampal: It was mind blowing. It's a superb film.
Go and watch "Agneepath." You guys are going to be blown away.
Zayed Khan: All the performances are fabulous. Finally, superb kind of movies are back.
It's amazing. Hrithik, Sanjay, Priyanka, everybody was outstanding.
Arbaaz Khan: I think the director has done a fantastic job and it's a very good remake of the earlier "Agneepath". Sanjay's performance is fantastic, Hrithik is looking very good and he has acted very well as well.
I think the star of the film is the director. Dino Morea: I think the remake that they have made is amazing.
Hrithik and Sanjay have done a fabulous job. It was fantastic
(less)My 'Agneepath' has little resemblance to original: Hrithik Roshan
(less)Kareena, Imran pairing USP of 'Ek Main...': Karan
So, I think Imran and Kareena being unusual is the USP of the film," the 39-year-old director-producer said at the 160th year celebration party of cosmetic brand "Kiehl's". Directed by debutant Shakun Batra , the romantic-comedy will be released in February around Valentine's Day .
"We are really excited. It launches a new filmmaker.
All of us are really geared up to launch its music and then its (promotional) campaign. It's a great slice-of-life love story and it's a perfect date film for everyone out there," said Karan Johar.
Karan's Dharma Productions is also ready with "Agneepath", a remake of the original film released in 1990 under the same banner. "Koochie Koochie Hota Hai", an animated remake of the 1998 Hindi film "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", is expected to hit theatres by the end of next year.
Karan's blockbuster "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" recently completed 10 years. Meanwhile, he is busy directing and co-producing "Student Of The Year" with Shah Rukh Khan .
His last film as a director was "My Name Is Khan"

(less)Sonakshi to sizzle as item girl for Farah
That's when an SOS was sent to Shirish's wife, choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, who promptly rustled up Patrani Machchi - a Parsi delicacy - for the 22 people on the sets. Then, of course, Farah is also cooking a sizzling item number for Sonakshi Sinha in the film.
Says Shirish, "Yes, Farah cooked for all of us on the sets. She was more than happy to send over Patrani Machchi.
Farah is more passionate about cooking than direction. We were shooting on the Versova beach and all of us, including Akshay, had a lovely beach party!" About 70 per cent of "Joker", produced by UTV Motions Pictures, has been canned.
About 10-11 days of shooting will take place in November, when the item number will be shot. "Initially, we had thought of using another actor for this.
But we shot another song with Sonakshi and decided that it was pointless to look for anyone else for this song. It will be the mother of all item songs.
Farah is competing with herself because both the hit item numbers of last year were choreographed by her. Any item number first works on the basis of how good the audio is.
That has to be a killer. Thankfully, we have already got that for Sonakshi's song and the hook line is a killer," he says.
And what about the dance? "I can't reveal anything right now because if I do, someone might just pick it up and copy it. All I can say is that it will have a Marathi flavour without being typical.
" So, how is he presenting Sonakshi differently from the way she was seen in "Dabangg"? "She has a substantial role in "Joker". In fact, her role is as long as Akshay's.
" Meanwhile, there are stories of "Joker"'s storyline being leaked and how it is similar to "Swades" and "Koi Mil Gaya". Does Akshay have two looks in the movie? Does this 3D film have UFOs and extra-terrestrials? "This comparison between my movie and others' doesn't bother me simply because none of the suggested storylines is true.
Yes, Akshay has two looks and my movie has a lot of desi ETs. However, I can't classify "Joker" as a film that belongs to only one genre.
It has sci-fi elements in it but this film is also very Indian in its soul," the director admits. Since "Joker" has a lot of work in post-production, will that work also be done in India? "India has progressed a lot and it doesn't makesense any more not to use skill and cheap labour in India for post-production.
Even Hollywood movies often use the skill of technicians in India for their projects. I am in no hurry to release the film and will take my time to complete the post-production work," he signs off

Shooting for a public service msg film about education peace & harmony. Feels ironic when I read & see wot is being said," he has posted on Twitter.
The fracas between SRK and Shirish Kunder took place at a party hosted by Sanjay Dutt to celebrate the success of his new film, Agneepath. An irked SRK allegedly roughed up his former friend's husband who has been very vocal against him.
Despite repeated attempts Shah Rukh remained unavailable for comment. Farah and Kunder spoke about the incident in a statement but denied they were going to pursue the matter with the police.
"Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on. So it saddens me to see him doing the same," Farah said in a statement.
Kunder took to his Twitter account to say: "Thanks for all your concern & wishes. We are very grateful.
Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing a FIR or police complaint." While there was a time when Farah Khan couldn't think of working with anyone else but SRK, 2010 changed the bonhomie to bitterness between the two.

Tweet
(less)Hrithik Roshan trying to be Amitabh Bachchan?
He reiterated, "I had no reference point for Agneepath. I disconnected from the film I had seen as a boy, and treated this movie as a fresh script.
In fact, when this project came to me and Karan Malhotra flew down to Spain for the narration, I felt bad, because I had already made up my mind. I don't do remakes, and I wasn't going to do this one.
However, within the first ten minutes, Karan had me stumped! The concept was fresh, the setting brilliant, and the plot extra ordinay. I'm glad I did this film.
" Karan Johar, too, has gone on record to say that he wasn't trying to get Hrithik to be Amitabh, and insists that Agneepath 2 isn't a remake of the original 1990 movie, but instead a tribute to it and all those who were a part of it

(less)Big B in Kunder's next inspired by The Pursuit of Happyness
But anyone who watches it will feel like it is their own story. It is like in the genre of The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith.
It's that kind of a film where there is drama and a sense of comedy and all. Like even when I watched Pursuit .
. it reminded me of all the struggle that I made to enter Bollywood," Shirish told PTI, on the sidelines of a launch of a devotional music album, last night.
The Pursuit of Happyness is an American biographical drama based on millionaire stock broker Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle with homelessness. Directed by Gabriele Muccino, the film featured Will Smith as Gardner, an on-and-off-homeless salesman-turned stockbroker.
Smith's real-life son Jaden Smith co-starred as Gardner's son Christopher Jr. The film was a hit and won several awards.
"This is the kind of story that only people like me who is an outsider and have struggled to come in Bollywood can only make. Not anyone who is already here as they don't come across the kind of struggle we all outsiders go through to come into a place where we are not allowed.
So we identify with the story ," he said. After six years, Shirish has managed to finally rope in Amitabh Bachchan for his dream film.
The director's previous film Jaan-E-Mann bombed at the box office. He is currently working on Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer 3D film Joker which releases in August 2012.
Ask him how Big B came on board, he says, "It was during Jaan-e-mann when we had kept a preview for Bachchan Sir, he saw and brought his family next day to see it again. He told me we should work together but bring a role for me with meat in it.
I started working and wanted a solo film for him which is about him. I was hunting.
..
thinking of a story and it took me long time." "After that he had told me to put some meat in it.
I was scared that I cannot go with any rubbish to him. I wanted to be very sure when I went to him that he will not say 'NO'.
Mr Bachchan plays a common man. It will inspire every person be it a rickshaw driver or cashier using their skills how he can achieve something special," he said.
The film goes on floors soon and will release next year. About the leading lady, Shirish says, "We haven't finalised it yet.
He gave his nod for the project just a few days ago and till then it would have been pointless to think of who to cast. There will be one opposite him of the older generation, then there will be a son and a girl opposite him.
" So, is he considering real life son, Abhishek Bachchan for the film? "No. It will not justify him.
.He needs a bigger role than this.
Here the film is about Mr Bachchan. But I would like to do other film with Abhishek in it," Shirish said.

(less)When technology, Bollywood walked hand in hand
The Hindi film industry used technology like never before for continuous film promotion, to raise funds, to find artists and to connect with the audiences for suggestions and ideas. Consumed by the technological boom, filmmakers like Prakash Jha, Mahesh Bhatt, Shirish Kunder and big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan used social networking sites to connect with their audiences and impart information.
The FICCI-KPMG 2011 report pointed out that VFX and post-production segments grew 42 percent and 17 percent respectively in the total of the Rs.23.
6-billion ($450 million) worth industry for 2011. If big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar launched the first look of their respective films "RA.
One", "The Dirty Picture" and "Agneepath" on Twitter, Mahesh Bhatt used the platform to finalise the poster for "Murder 2". Filmmaker Onir went a step further and used Facebook to invited people to raise funds for his film "I Am" and received an overwhelming response.
Around 400 people from 46 cities across the world participated and he raised nearly Rs.10 million.
Later Onir released the trailer of the film on Youtube. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has witnessed the industry's growth from the 1970s till now, had once said: "The interaction with the audience through social networking mediums has helped.
..
I think it is a wonderful vehicle to tell people that 'I made this film for you. Now can you guide me where I am going wrong before I actually put it out in theatres'.
I think it is quite masterly to involve the people..
.it's democratically correct!" A regular blogger, Big B is tech savvy and often discusses his film projects, tidbits about his life on his blog and he even tweets.
In fact, he announced his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy on Twitter, and later the birth of his granddaughter. For others, using Twitter or Facebook for clarification or refuting rumours was a regular thing.
Bollywood's King Khan used every available technological support for king-sized promotion and branding of his superhero movie "RA.One".
SRK, who reportedly spent over Rs.150 crore on "RA.
One" as a producer, set aside a separate marketing budget for online promotions. He collaborated with Google Plus and Sony for a full cycle game called "Ra.
One - The Game ". It was available on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 format.
He also customised "RA.One" channel on YouTube, which was the first-of-its kind initiative in the country and saw the songs release, theatrical promos along with videos of the film's making, events and uncut footage going online.
Marriage between gaming and films is an opportunity to raise revenues worldwide, said King Khan. "Apart from just the bright factor, the creative factor and the marketing factor - I think the main marriage is going to be that we are going to have another source of revenue very soon for our films.
..
so they can get bigger and better," said the actor-producer who did tie-ups worth Rs.52 crore.
"..
.I feel Indian films can take this second step -- to get video games arranged for their respective films.
I am sure youngsters all around would be proud of this development," he added. His forthcoming film "Don 2 - The King Is Back" will have a game titled "Don - The Social Mobsters Game', which will be launched on Facebook and is being developed by Mango Games.
He is regularly tweeting about the film's promotion and keeps his fans updated. Actor-filmmaker Sanjay Suri , who featured in "I AM", feels the landscape of releasing and watching trailers has changed.
"One can reach a wider audience through such platforms," he said. The reach of Youtube was evident when southern star Dhanush's song "Kolaveri Di" went viral on the internet and made him popular across the globe.
But there is a flip side to it, says Anurag Kashyap, director of films likes " Black Friday ", "Dev D" and "Gulaal". "Youth is my biggest audience but the biggest problem is they are a non-paying audience.
They are the ones who download films but don't believe in spending," he said. Technology was used and abused.
For instance, songs like "Haal e dil", a song from Amitabh Bachchan's film "Bbuddah..
.Hoga Tera Baap" and "Chammak Challo" from "RA.
One" were leaked online much before their official music launch

If the opportunity to direct the film was given to me, I would not have been able to. I am incapable of doing it.
