Priyanka gets steamy with Naseer
Wonder if it proved to be a DIY lesson for Priyanka Chopra, who shot some intimate scenes with Naseer recently for her film Saat Khoon Maaf. Naseer plays one of Priyanka’s seven husbands.
Seven years ago (coincidentally), when Priyanka first shared screen space with Naseer in Rajiv Rai’s Asambhav, she could barely look him in the eye. In fact, Priyanka was petrified of Naseer.
Obviously, enacting love-scenes with an actor 33 years her senior was a near impossibility. But Naseer plays her “oldest husband” in the film.
But when Naseer returned to Coorg to resume the shooting schedule after a bout of ill health, he was apparently in great spirits. Says a source from the unit, “At first, Priyanka was very cautious and naturally respectful to Naseer.
Overcautious in fact, because Naseer had fallen ill just after a day’s shoot with Priyanka. So Priyanka felt doubly apprehensive.
” Apparently, it was a cakewalk for Priyanka from the moment Naseer entered the sets. The actor hit it off brilliantly with her.
Says Priyanka, “Naseer sir and I had worked together many years ago in an espionage film called Asambhav. I remember I would look at his feet while talking to him; I was in awe.
This recent experience was a completely different one. If it weren’t for his acting skills, I would have been petrified even now.
” And the admiration is mutual. Says Naseer, “Priyanka has evolved as an actor since we last worked together.
It could partly be because of the directors she has worked with. Vishal and I have worked together often and I’ve enjoyed myself each time.
Vishal is on the verge of finding a new voice in our cinema. He did somewhat lose his way in Kaminey though.
But he’s found himself again in Saat Khoon Maaf.”

Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

My absolute must haves are browns, bronze and red shades of make-up, as they give my skin tone a very nice shine and suit me very well. I always carry these colors in my bag because I never know when I might show up at an event and feel completely under-dressed.
Also, any of these shades really adds that extra glow."

While talking about the honeymoon plans, Riteish had told us, "We can't have a honeymoon this month. Our producer Kumar Taurani has strictly forbidden us to go anywhere till our film releases this month as he wants Genelia and me to promote the film in various cities.
David Dhawan's son Rohit gets married on February 10, so immediately after our wedding Genelia and I will have to rush to Goa for that again. After that, will be my brother Dheeraj's wedding during the end of the month to Honey Bhagnani .

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .
They are my role models and I want to have a beautiful lineup of characters like them," says the actor
(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

Hold on… if you think this is the end then please wait, there’s more to come) She was also flaunting some red color false flowers and feathers on her made-up hair. Also a yellow color strap on her neck which resembled a dog collar.
If that wasn”t enough she also carried herself on shinning red heels and a matching red color bag. Thankfully Priyanka Chopra and Mugdha Godse too were present and were looking extremely stunning and beautiful.

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.

It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..

Vidya Balan leads Bollywood's female pack
IANS lists the top 10 actresses who swept the audience away in 2011: 1. Vidya Balan: She started the year with a stellar performance as a deglamorised, strong-willed simpleton in the real-life inspired "No One Killed Jessica", and featured in cameos in "Thank You", "Dum Maaro Dum" and Malayalam film "Urumi".
But for the 33-year-old 'bombaat' actress, 2011 ended with a bang with her sizzling portrayal of a dancing star, Silk , in "The Dirty Picture". Vidya explored new realms to her acting potential, and emerged as a winner, overshadowing other commercially hit Bollywood divas.
2. Kareena Kapoor: Two films and both hits! Even after over a decade, Kareena stood out among her contemporaries with the record-breaker "Bodyguard" opposite Salman Khan , and Shah Rukh Khan's mega-production "RA.
One". She also proved her dancing mettle once again with "Chammak challo", which went on to be a huge chartbuster.
3. Priyanka Chopra: After an average 2010, Priyanka Chopra sprang back into action by carrying out seven different looks in Vishal Bharadwaj's critically-acclaimed "7 Khoon Maaf".
In the character of a serial spouse-killer, Sussanna, the actress has displayed why she is a National Award winner at such a young age. She will round up the year as Shah Rukh Khan's 'junglee billi' in the much-awaited "Don 2: The King Is Back".
4. Katrina Kaif: As a free-spirited, independent girl in the multi-starrer "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", as a sexy item girl in "Bodyguard" or as the effervescent Dimple Dixit in "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan", this Britain-born girl has been proving her range with every passing year.
5. Kalki Koechlin: With four diverse films -- "Shaitan", "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", "That Girl in Yellow Boots" and "My Friend Pinto" - Kalki has been on a roll this year! Her easy and fluid portrayal of a mentally disturbed girl, a nagging girlfriend, a girl in search of her father, and a lost girl abandoned by her boyfriend, have reassured cine-buffs of her capacity as a new age, commercially-viable actress, who dares to choose different roles.
6. Kangana Ranaut: Year 2011 saw Kangana in a new avatar.
As a bindaas Kanpur girl in "Tanu Weds Manu", she gave her most desi performance ever. She followed it up with the role of a cop in "Game", a supporting act in comedy films "Double Dhamaal" and "Rascals", and featured in "Miley Naa Miley Hum", which went unnoticed.
However, Kangana's standing in the industry remains quite unaffected. 7.
Rani Mukerji: Her fans got a treat after two years when Rani returned to the big screen in "No One Killed Jessica". As a bold journalist, who gets the public together to demand justice for a cause, Rani delivered an image-breaking performance when she mouthed expletives and smoked a cigarette for the role.
8. Anushka Sharma: There's something that clicks about this Yash Raj Films find, despite average earners like "Patiala House" and "Ladies VS Ricky Bahl" in 2011.
Anushka's vivaciousness, million-dollar smile and perfect dancing skills have catapulted her into the league of promising leading ladies of tinsel town today. 9.
Deepika Padukone: At 25, Deepika has established herself as one of the more popular female stars of Hindi cinema. This year she strengthened her stance, not so much with her performances, but because of the elan with which she carried out the sultry song "Mit jaaye gum"; as the small town but confident girl in "Aarakshan"; and as the love interest of John Abraham in "Desi Boyz ".
10. Mahie Gill: Her films, "Utt Patang", "Not A Love Story" and "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster" this year didn't mint enough money at the box office, but her performance, like always, was well noticed.
The critically acclaimed actress continues to choose films away from tried-and-tested formulas, and garners appreciation galore
(less)It's difficult escaping the serial-kisser tag, says Emraan
The 32-year-old actor came to be known as Hindi cinema's serial kisser after numerous lip locks in films like Murder, Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Apne, Gangster and Jannat . "The tag would never go.
I tried to get rid of it, but it follows me everywhere. I have done so many films with it (kissing) and so many people went and watched those films.
So probably they want to remember me for that. And if kissing is a great way to remember me, I have no complaints! My audience base is there and I can't change overnight," Emraan told IANS in an interview.
"I am trying out different things in my forthcoming films. Hopefully it would be another dimension, which would change people's perception about me," he added.
The Dirty Picture is said to have Emraan in yet another kissing scene, this time with actress Vidya Balan. He however stresses that the film, based on the life of the late southern sex icon Vijayalakshmi aka Silk Smitha, takes sexuality to a different level.
"It's a different take on sexuality. Sexuality in my films was shown differently before this.
The Dirty Picture takes it to a different level," said Emraan. The first trailer of the movie has already created a buzz, with Vidya in a bold new avatar.
Emraan plays one of the three men in her life, while the other two male characters have been essayed by Tusshar Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah. "I play a movie director who believes in artistic cinema.
He is one who doesn't really give a damn about commercial viability of a film. He would rather make a film, which critics will appreciate; he sticks to his guns creatively, never budges from his creative instincts of a film and the content the film.
It's a very different character that I haven't played before," said the actor. The Dirty Picture , produced by Ekta Kapoor, and directed by Milan Luthria, will release on Dec 2, which happens to be Silk Smitha's birth anniversary.
Even though the movie is being promoted as Silk Smitha's biopic, Emraan says it has been spiked with fiction for commercial value. "It's basically a fictional film.
It might have been taken from different sources and it's about the southern film industry, about the actress, her rise, her stardom and her relationship with these three men..
.Eventually, lots of comparisons can be made but lots of things have been added for commercial effect.
So I wouldn't say it's truly a biopic," he said. This is the first time that Emraan has teamed up with the critically acclaimed Vidya.
"Vidya is a great actress. Our combination is new.
It's a great experience working with her. Every character in the film is very intriguing and interesting; so we share a very different kind of chemistry on screen.

(less)Priyanka imitates Vidya Balan
We liked the way PC imitated Kareena Kapoor's act from Golmaal, Shah Rukh Khan's from My Name is Khan and Salman's from Dabangg in an award show last year. Priyanka ensured she was as entertaining a presenter for the 'Best Film' category as the famous spoof players Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.
This year for the same award function, Priyanka has apparently aped none other than Vidya Balan! Onlookers informed, "Priyanka and Shah Rukh posed as Vidya and Naseeruddin Shah from Dirty Picture. Vidya wore the same pink outfit of Vidya's from oo la la and danced just like her.
What made everyone laugh was Priyanka's overnight weight gain! She stuffed herself to look fat on stage, like Silk Smitha !" Spoofing nominees is not a new trend. Saif and Shah Rukh started it.
Ranbir and Imran have done the same for Filmfare. Wonder how will Vidya's fans react to this act of Priyanka's though!
(less)Vidya wasn’t offended by my spoof on her: Priyanka
The actress was all praises for Vidya Balan who was her competitor as both were nominated in the Best Actress category. Vidya for The Dirty Picture and Priyanka for '7 Khoon Maaf'.
In the end it was a win win situation as both actresses bagged the trophy. Priyanka as Critics choice and Vidya won in the Popular category.
An ecstatic Priyanka commented, "Vidya was great in 'The Dirty Picture'. Very few actresses have the courage to gain about 15 kgs for a role! You know how the industry works.
Actresses are extremely conscious about their weight. I could manage only 3-4kgs for 7 khoon maaf .
My problem is I cannot gain weight. I have a high metabolism rate.
No matter how much I eat, I don't gain weight. I was offered a film where I was supposed to gain weight but I couldn't do it owing to this problem.
Vidya on the contrary has done it." On her recent spoof on Vidya Balan at Zee Cine Awards Priyanka clarified, "Vidya takes it in a good spirit.
I wore a fat suit to imitate her. After the act she herself told me how funny it looked.
She wasn't offended at all. She is extremely sporting.

(less)Bollywood wakes up to women-centric themes
Women have played several roles on screen - helpless mother, submissive wife, devoted girlfriend and ignored sister. But over a decade, filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali , Shyam Benegal, Vishal Bhardwaj have tried to break the stereotype and present them in a more realistic way, and successfully too.
IANS lists women-centric films in the past decade that have ruled the box-office or garnered critical acclaim: "The Dirty Picture" (2011) - Vidya Balan's itsy bitsy clothes, cleavage-showing blouses and raunchy dance numbers swept the audience off their feet even before the film hit the silver screen, but her powerful and crisp dialogue delivery and easy portrayal of the character took the attention away. The film is an unofficial biopic of southern sex symbol Silk Smitha, her rise to fame and downfall.
"7 Khoon Maaf" (2011) - Priyanka Chopra won critical acclaim for her performance as Susanna, a potentially loathsome serial spouse-killer. At the outset Priyanka's character seemed negative but at the same time it gave an insight into a woman's heart and soul.
Rather than hate her, many ended up sympathising with her. "No One Killed Jessica" (2011) - Based on the real-life murder of model Jessica Lall in 1999, this film kickstarted the year on a positive note.
While Vidya Balan triumphed with her non-glamorous and distraught portrayal of Jessica's sister Sabrina, Rani Mukerji's unprecedented use of abuses as a journalist raised quite a few eyebrows but brought critical acclaim for her. "Fashion" (2008) - Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar , "Fashion" gave a sneak peak into the dark reality of the glamour world.
Priyanka stole the show with her powerful and intense performance as a girl who goes from aspiring model to supermodel before her descent. The actress played a bubbly girl, who connected with the darkest of human emotions while pursuing her dream.
Her performance also won her a national award. "Dor" (2006) - A Nagesh Kuknoor film, "Dor" was the poigant tale of two women and how their fate brings them together.
Relatively new to the world of cinema, both Ayesha Takia and Gul Panag proved their mettle as actors with their distinctive performances. "Black" (2005) - Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "Black" was one of the best films of Rani Mukerji's career.
Her portrayal of a deaf and blind girl and how she forms a strong bond with her teacher played by Amitabh Bachchan won her accolades from all over the world. The film brought out the untapped potential of the actress.
"Chameli" (2003) - "Chameli" was a brave attempt by Kareena Kapoor , where she played a sex worker. With her over-the-top makeup, bright coloured saris and intense portrayal, Kareena proved that she is much more than just glamorous.
"Zubeidaa" (2001) - A Shyam Benegal film, "Zubeidaa" starred Karisma Kapoor and Rekha in prominent roles. It was the story of a girl who gets married into a royal family and frets about the restrictions on her as princess and often vents her frustrations at not having her husband to herself.
The film saw Karisma in a completely different avatar. "Lajja" (2001) - Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, "Lajja" satirized the status of women in society and the restrictions on them.
The film chronicled the story of four women with the names Maithali, Janaki, Ramdulhari and Vaidehi that are considered to be the versions of Sita. The film starred Manisha Koirala , Rekha, Madhuri Dixit and Mahima Chaudhry.
"Chandni Bar" (2001)- Madhur Bhandarkar's "Chandni Bar" was again the heartwarming story of a sex worker played by Tabu and how she struggles to provide a better lifestyle to her kids, keeping them away from the gritty world of prostitution. Tabu walked away with the national award for best actress
(less)Rajinikanth fans miffed with The Dirty Picture
And this time the moviemakers have faced the wrath of some Rajinikanth fans. If the buzz around this issue is to be believed, NaseeruddinShah's character in "The Dirty Picture" is inspired by the Tamil superstar.
That Naseer is playing a superstar in the film, is common knowledge. The film's teaser doing the rounds shows Vidya Balan performing an item number with him.
But what is also common is that Rajinikanth too is a superstar and he too acted with Silk in various movies, in which she had special item numbers with the actress. Drawing a parallel between the two, fans of Rajinikanth are now demanding removal of those scenes that in anyway show Naseer (and thus Rajini) in a bad light.
The makers of the film however have denied any resemblance to the South star, saying that Naseer is playing an ageing star in the film whereas Rajini was in his prime when he worked with Silk. But fans are in no mood to relent.
They have threatened the filmmakers with dire consequences if their superstar is portrayed in a bad manner

" He is also in awe of veteran actor Naseeruddin. "Naseeruddin is god of acting.
I did a couple of scenes with him, which was a great learning experience," said Emraan. Bipasha Basu offered prayers at the Lal Baug Ka Raja pandal: "Went to get blessings from Lal Baug Ka Raja! Most amazing darshan and aarti ! It was my mother's wish for six years and I am happy I could take her there.

(less)Shah Rukh's growing fondness for Vidya
At a recently held awards night, SRK even performed a medley where Vidya danced with him on Sooraj hua Madhyam. The couple looked terrific together and onlookers claimed they should pair up for a romantic drama.
Shah Rukh in his signature flirtatious manner acknowledged, "I'd love to work with Vidya too. She is a good actor and hopefully we'll work together soon.
" From joking about willing to marry Vidya and making her become Vidya Balan Khan to Vidya loving SRK's photo the most from a recently launched calendar, this couple will be a delight to watch!
(less)Bollywood happenings in Hyderabad
.Does not confine itself to Hyderabad alone.
2011 saw many Bollywood biggies visit the city and their trip brought with them face-offs, link-ups and more. Here's a round up of the various headline-creating moments for Bollywood in Hyderabad Cover-up of the year Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma: Are they? Aren't they? The question that plagued Bollywood for long was finally answered in Hyderabad.
Former lovers, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, were spotted together at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad as they had come to town to attend the wedding of a city biggie. As the shutterbugs spotted the duo, Ranveer in all his chivalry tried to protect his lady love, Anushka, who demurely chose to walk behind him.
That the couple chose to part ways later is a different story altogether. Holidayers of the year Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor: They are self-confessed lovers of London and Switzerland.
In fact, Kareena claims Switzerland is "like home". But when Bollywood's star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor needed to spend some quality time with one another, they chose Hyderabad, in all its princely glory.
While Saif was in town shooting with Deepika Padukone for "Cocktail", Kareena flew in to join him for a few days. The couple then moved into the palace-turned-star hotel for some R&R, putting the destination on the map for all lovers.
Hip shakers of the year Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif: He jumped from a platform of considerable height and she dance to "Sheila Ki Jawaani". And in between all this, the services of a chopper were used.
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif regaled a select few in Hyderabad during the engagement ceremony of Mallika and Siddharth Reddy. Yes, Bollywood stars shimmying and shaking at weddings is what we heard of in other cities, but this time, B-Town came calling for an engagement ceremony.
And what a spectacle it was! The Ooh La La Lady of the year Vidya Balan: While the world had forgotten about Silk Smitha and her story, actor Vidya Balan was single-handedly responsible for bringing the southern siren with Telugu roots back in public memory through "The Dirty Picture". And along with that, Silk's long lost relatives and friends too managed to find their five minutes of fame.
Be it shooting in the city for the flick or returning to promote the movie, Vidya gave it her all. From going retro to risque, Vidya sure made many turn around and say 'Ooh La La'.
Jodi of year Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra: Yes, it all began here, in Hyderabad. The stories that now so frequent the pages of all entertainment and gossip tabs and mags was originally a Hyderabad baby.
Shah Rukh Khan's proximity to co-star Priyanka Chopra has been documented for the past few months. But it was in Hyderabad that King Khan brought along Priyanka Chopra for the first time to perform at the GVK wedding.
And ever since, the rumor mills have been churning overtime. For now, it seems like PC accompanies SRK wherever he goes! Rockstar of the year Ranbir Kapoor: He is one cool customer - charming, talented and a ladies man.
Ranbir Kapoor sure knows how to make the ladies swoon. In the city to promote his flick "Rockstar" the Kapoor lad, not only had the ladies eating out of his hands, but also managed some 'me' time with director Imtiaz Ali.
Taking an auto ride around the city, the actor not only soaked in the sights of Hyderabad, but also gorged on the delectable cuisine and did some late night shopping as well. And all this minus the fuss and hullabaloo that usually surrounds a B-Town star.
No wonder then, Ranbir is Bollywood's original Rockstar . Most-awaited drama of the year It was touted to be the biggest face-off in the history of Bollywood.
The playground was Hyderabad and the players were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Now everyone knows that there's no love lost between the two Khans.
That Ash and Salman share a very troubled history too is old news. But all these years, the three have been careful to avoid bumping into one another in public, even by mistake.
So when the three of them were scheduled to come to the city for the wedding festivities of a famous city family, the media went berserk. A face-off was guaranteed and that left most mediawallahs salivating.
But trust our B-Town stars to avoid such situations with perfection. It so happened that while SRK was at the venue Ash-Abhishek and Salman were conspicuous by their absence.
The moment SRK took his leave Abhi-Ash sauntered in, socialized for a while and left. Then entered the Khan of the season, Salman, with his entourage in tow.
Yes, they were all at the same venue, albeit at different times. So no fireworks here folks.
Tourist of the year Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan: If one owns an IPL team, the other is part of the CCL team. The Badshah of Bollywood and B-Towns enfant terrible were Hyderabad's most frequent high profile B-Town visitors this year.
SRK came to the city to watch his team, Kolkata Knight Riders , play in the IPL, apart from attending a high profile shaadi and shooting portions of his magnum opus, "Ra.One".
Meanwhile, Salman too came to the city umpteen times to watch his team in the CCL, Bollywood Heroes, play cricket. That apart, film promos and weddings too kept the Khan of the season coming back to the city for more.
Not forgetting however are the rocking bashes that Salman would throw in the city for his buddies. But alas, only a select few were allowed entry! Compiled by Sarah Salvadore
(less)I like bad boys: Priyanka Chopra
..
and take them home. Read on.
..
Were you successful at catching Don this time around? Well, Roma is feistier this time around. She's angry! But Don ko pakadna namumkin hai.
You can get really close to him, but he vanishes in thin air. SRK is always on-the-go, how do you manage to keep up? We traveled so much for the film because we want people to know about it; it's definitely better than the first Don.
Yes, SRK has high-energy, but I have amazing energy too. We believe you like bad boys.
..
This quote of mine is going to go down in history. Yes, I like bad boys, and I like to take them home to my mom.
She also likes bad boys..
. Ha, ha, ha.
..
You love your stunts and you love your action. Quite a different genre for an A-list actress.
..
You do films that you like. I love dabbling in different genres, and I like being good at different genres of cinema.
We haven't seen you in an out-an-out item song yet..
. I did Desi Girl, but that was in my own film.
I don't think songs in your own films should count as 'item songs'. But I would love to do a song in someone else's film.
It's all about 'Girl-power' nowadays. Heroines are turning 'heroes' in films.
..
I think it's amazing that women-oriented films are working. Be it Vidya in The Dirty Picture, Rani in NOKJ, Katrina in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan or Saat Khoon Maaf.
I think Fashion brought back the trend. I went against all odds with that one.
How's the music coming along? It's been a fabulous experience. I lived, breathed and ate music in USA.
I'm trying something so new and I hope it's something that makes our country proud. Your song lyrics have apparently said a lot about your life.
..
Ha, ha..
. Not a lot, but I certainly took a second look at the lyrics and thought that it was much more than I'd usually say about myself.
At the end of the day, the songs are supposed to by my expressions..
. Priyanka ko pataana kitna mushkil hai? Priyanka ko pataana bhi namumkin hai! I'm turned off by romantic gestures and flowers and chocolates.
I have very high standards. So what are these high standards that the guys need to achieve? I don't like guys who are conventional.
I'm an achiever; he has to be an achiever. I admire drive, I admire ambition.
I like a guy who keeps my on my toes. But are you a romantic at heart? Tremendously.
I live with romance in my brain. I'm a true-blue Cancerian like that.
I cry during romantic scenes, books..

(less)It's good to be bad in Bollywood
Instead, King Khan plays the positive character G.One.
The resurrection of the big Bollywood villain, who had become almost redundant over the last decade, seems like a welcome change. One barely saw imposing antagonists in the last few years barring a few.
The villains of the earlier decades (Gabbar Singh, Mogambo, Dr Dang) were so intense and menacing that they would completely overshadow the hero. While Shah Rukh Khan's look in RA.
One was revealed a while back, Arjun Rampal's look was fiercely guarded for over two years and was unmasked only recently, during Dussehra. The actor's look with the scarlet suit, goatee and the baldhead, makes his character look particularly intimidating.
In fact, King Khan said in one of the interviews that he was feeling insecure of Rampal stealing all the thunder from him. Similarly, Sanjay Dutt who plays the negative role of Kancha Cheena in Karan Johar's Agneepath remake has generated more buzz than the lead actor Hrithik Roshan, who steps into the big boots of Amitabh Bachchan.
The curiosity in Dutt's character is also raised owing to his interesting look. In fact, the list of strong villains does not end here.
Reportedly, even Krrish 2 has a powerful villain. The role played by Vivek Oberoi is said to be on the lines of Joker from the Batman series.
A film veteran says, "It's a good trend. Unless you have a good adversary, the hero won't stand out.
" Shah Rukh Khan stunned everyone by opting for negative roles in Baazigar, Darr, Anjaam, early in his career. The Don remake in which King Khan played a baddie, too, received a warm reception at the box office and is being followed by its sequel.
From the current breed of actors, Saif Ali Khan too has experimented with dark characters. His career took a different turn after he played negative roles in Ek Haseena Thi, Being Cyrus and Omkara.
John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan wowed the audience as baddies in Yash Raj Film's Dhoom series. Now, Aamir Khan is gearing up to play the bad man in the Dhoom triquel.
Sadly, we haven't seen many great negative roles written for female actors in Bollywood apart from the stereotypical horrid mothers-in-law. The ones, however, that stood out were the characters played by Priyanka Chopra in Aitraaz and Saat Khoon Maaf, Preity Zinta in Armaan, Kajol in Gupt, Amrita Singh in Aaina and Anu Agarwal in Khal-Naaikaa.
Directors like Vishal Bhardwaaj and Anurag Kashyap are fascinated by grey characters and are known to make dark films. Vishal had earlier said in an interview, "I find dark humour very fascinating - it instigates something in you- it scares you, disturbs you but is funny at the same time.

(less)Before a risky decision, I think of Aamir: Vidya Balan
All of a sudden, we see Vidya Balan opting for different kinds of roles..
. I am on a trip of playing different people - living their lives, fiction or real through the characters I play.
And these are the people who are so not like me. And why shouldn't I play these characters? I am getting these opportunities and I am grabbing them.
A film has to have something beyond the regular song and dance for me. You know what, I want people to come out after watching each and every film of mine and say, 'This is not the Vidya we know' or 'This is not the Vidya we saw last time'.
But you refused Vishal Bhardwaj's offer of Daayan..
. There wasn't much for me to do in Daayan.
And then Vishal did not even inform you that you were not a part of Ishqiya sequel. The producers did.
Was that revenge? I don't know about revenge. But yes, Shemaroo informed me.
Anyways, I had been wondering what I would do in Dedh Ishqiya. If you have seen Ishqiya, the two guys (Naseer and Arshad) had met Krishna (myself) along the way.
They sure would have moved on in the sequel. But theek hai.
I have no hard feelings on not being chosen for Dedh Ishqiya. Coming back to your 'trip' of playing different characters, it seems like this is the same trip Rekha was on.
Or have you become the female Aamir Khan ? To a certain extent, yes. And didn't Rekhaji do it beautifully? She played so many interesting, different yet commercially viable characters.
As for the second part of your question, thanks for the compliment. Whenever I have to take a risky decision, I think of Aamir and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Those two simply defy rules. But on both counts, I still have to go a long way yaar.
Still, how did you do The Dirty Picture? You are such a shy and inhibited person. Were you comfortable sitting with your parents when the promos went on air? Well, I always tell my parents everything I do.
So they knew that in The Dirty Picture, I was playing a role that was..
..
(thinks hard for too long) Blasphemous? No, not blasphemous. Risky is the word.
But they knew that I was in safe hands. They had seen Milan Luthria's work, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.
And they knew Ekta since my Hum Paanch days. But yes, I did feel awkward sitting with them when the promos were first telecast.
However cool and evolved I maybe, I am never going to coochie-coo with my boyfriend in front of them. Hence, watching my intimate scenes with the actors, along with my parents was never going to be easy.
By boyfriend you mean Siddharth Roy Kapoor . So, what's his take on The Dirty Picture? No.
He doesn't have any issues with my work. You had to use prosthetics in The Dirty Picture.
How was the experience? Well, all I can say is that I have worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Paa. After that, if I say using prosthetics was difficult, I would sound spoilt.
So I won't say. But you are seriously getting bolder.
What if Raj Kapoor was alive and offered you Mandakini's role in Ram Teri Ganga Maili? I would have loved to work with Rajji. But that's not what we're asking.
..
(Smiles) You! Well, I don't think he would have made Ram Teri Ganga Maili in today's times. But yes, I must say that I would have loved to do his Satyam Shivam Sundaram.
Bipasha had objected to your on-screen pairing with John Abraham. Now that the two are no longer together, would you work with John? Would you want to work with John in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala? I was always okay to working with John.
I still maintain that. But I still have to meet Gupta for the narration.
Would you be okay to working with Shahid? Depends. The script will be the decisive factor.
Coming back to your boyfriend. There are rumours of you and Siddharth buying a house near Rizvi college in Bandra? Nonsense.
My house in Khar is pretty new. Ek toh sambhal loon.
But the two of you are rock steady. Some time back, there were rumours about the two of you getting married.
If I was in a relationship I couldn't talk about, I would never have been in it to begin with. I am in a very happy space with Siddharth.
Yes, I want to get married. I want to be a bride.
But I am not married yet

Actually they all were very good, so picking one is difficult: Madhuri Dixit It's a tough job to be on the jury. I was on the Filmfare jury this year, and I'm not allowed to say much.
But it's a very tough job!: Urmila Matondkar It's tough to elect one person or one film from all those nominated. May the best talent win.
We are looking forward to the evening: Sridevi My beautiful wife is with my beautiful baby. I'm here alone.
Honestly, I don't know the nominations too well. Is my Ma (Vidya Balan) nominated? Then I'll vote for her.
Am I nominated? No? Then I don't think I'd root for anyone: Abhishek Bachchan It's an exciting evening. All of us are here, that's a celebration in itself.
If any one of us bags an award it'll be a double celebration or more than that: Javed Akhtar Everyone from the family - Farhan, Zoya, Javed and myself have been nominated. It feels special.
We feel like a family of one of Karan Johar's films: Shabana Azmi I'm rooting for Ranbir Kapoor. He did a brilliant job in Rockstar.
I think Vidya Balan will win the Best Actress. I've already congratulated her in advance.
And ZNMD was my favourite film of last year. I enjoyed it so much: Deepika Padukone Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali arrived with wife Preety.
He informs though his Rockstar has been nominated in the Best Film category, he is unaware about the other nominations of the same category. "I don't know about competition.
I think when you make a film you don't get time to watch other films. So I don't know with which films Rockstar is competing.
" His wife Preety is definitely rooting for Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor. Rockstar has been nominated in several categories.
I wish it wins every award possible. The music of Rockstar was widely accepted, that was a feather in my cap and an extremely important thing for me: AR Rahman Pratiek Babbar is on red carpet and cheering for his contemporaries.
"I want an actor of my generation to win. I want Ranbir to win".
I don't care much about Awards. All I'm interested in is doing good films: Kalki Koechlin Though playback singer Shreya Ghoshal was won two nominations, she says, "Usha Uthup deserves to win.
She is so legendary that I am not even a competitor". When asked, which playback actress does her voice suits the best she says, "Kareena and Vidya".
I'm going to be hosting a small segment and performing. I'm also looking forward to Shah Rukh sir and Ranbir Kapoor hosting.
It's going to be a pulsating evening: Ali Zafar Parineeti Chopra is thrilled to win two nominations for her debut performance. She is nominated in the Supporting Actor (Female) and Debut (Female) categories for the same film 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'.
"Winning a nomination for your debut film feels really great. What's more rewarding is to be nominated alongside Rani Mukherji in the Best Supporting Actress category", she says.
Prateik walks in with Amy Jackson I want Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to win Best Screenplay, Dialogue, Film, Director. That'll be a double whammy.
And Zoya will ensure that I come with her for all the awards, for she considers me her lucky mascot, not that she needs one: Dia Mirza It's exciting to be here with the cast and crew of znmd. I don't have any acceptance speech, just keeping fingers crossed: Zoya Akhtar I'm rooting for Kalki (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and many others.
I want the best man to win: Anurag Kashyap I'm looking forward to Shah Rukh and Ranbir Kapoor's hosting and some great performances. Delhi Belly, The Dirty Picture, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are my favourite films of 2011: Neha Dhupia I'd like Vidya Balan to win for 'The Dirty Picture', Ranbir Kapoor to win for 'Rockstar', Imtiaz Ali to win best director and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to bag the best film.
Let the most deserving take home the black lady tonight: Kabir Bedi I'm rooting for Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture' and Ranbir Kapoor for 'Rockstar'. For music it has to be 'Ra.
One': Sarah Jane Dais "I'm exited, nervous..
. If I win I'll start screaming.
I loved Vidya in The Dirty Picture. I'll be happy for her if she wins", says Mahie Gill Priyanka Chopra makes an entry in a Ferragamo gown and though she is nominated in the Best Actor (Female) Category for '7 Khoon Maaf', she says her vote goes to Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture'.
She adds, "I will be performing a skit on 'Junglee billi ka swayamvar' and hope people take it in right spirit". Choreographer Bosco says Farhan Akhtar was a surprise package in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara for the 'Senorita' song.
"I'm excited, thankful to God and thank you to Filmfare for my nomination. Thanks to everyone who has liked my song.
I loved doing this so much", says singer Harshdeep Kaur who is nominated in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category for the song 'Katiya Karu' from the film Rockstar. Dress designer Niharika Khan who designed Vidya Balan's outfits in The Dirty Picture says the Filmfare black lady is sexiest - better than any actress.
Delhi Belly actress Poorna Jagannathan says her film Delhi Belly should win the Best Film Award. Celebrities have started coming in and Mukesh Bhatt is the early bird entry.
OFF-STAGE TIT-BITS Singer-actor Ali Zafar is expected to sing and also host a section of the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards. Priyanka Chopra hurt herself during rehearsals for Filmfare Awards.
"Very out of sorts..
Bruised from falling during rehearsals.too much damage.
..
god this act better be good! Looking forward to Filmfare tonight" Priyanka Tweeted on Sunday afternoon
(less)I was comfortable doing bold scenes: Vidya Balan
I wasn't uncomfortable doing bold scenes because I knew I was in trusted hands," Vidya told reporters here Tuesday. The actress, who reprises late southern siren Silk Smitha's rise and fall as a glamourous star in the film, spoke at the theatrical launch of the film.
The movie also features Tusshar Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi and Naseeruddin Shah. "I have worked with Naseer before but this time it was easier.
..
I was less nervous this time," said Vidya, who had teamed up with the veteran actor in "Ishqiya". On working with Bollywood's serial kisser Emraan, with whom she has locked lips in the film, she said: "I was wondering how it would be with Emraan, but it was fun.
" The trailer promises viewers that Vidya would indeed be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the film, which is set for release Dec 2

(less)Here come the Filmfare Awards
Before a risky decision I think of Aamir - Mumbai Mirror
Or have you become the female Aamir Khan?
By boyfriend you mean Siddharth Roy Kapoor.

(less)Vidya Balan & Ranbir Kapoor shine at Filmfare
Imtiaz Ali's musical drama Rockstar won leading man Ranbir Kapoor two trophies (Popular and Critics' Choice), while AR Rahman's score for the film won him his 20th trophy. It was befitting then that Filmfare chose to give the Oscar winner the historic 2,500th statuette encrusted with a diamond.
Clutching two ladies dressed in black - one being wife Saira and the other being the coveted 'Black Lady' Filmfare trophy - the maestro beamed and said, "I'm thrilled!" Playback singer Mohit Chauhan, nominated for Sadda Haq and Jo Bhi Main from Rockstar, picked up the trophy for the latter. Lyricist Irshad Kamil too had two songs up for nomination - Sadda Haq and Nadaan Parindey - with Sadda Haq getting left out again in the Best Lyrics category.
Vidya Balan picked up the Best Actress trophy for her perfect impersonation of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture. The film also picked up an award for Best Costume.
However, the Critics' Award for Best Actress went to Priyanka Chopra for her act as a serial killer in 7 Khoon Maaf. Child actor Partho Gupte, who played an endearing Stanley in father Amole Gupte's Stanley Ka Dabba, also picked up a Special Jury Certificate for Outstanding Talent.
Delhi Belly, which had 11 nominations, won director Abhinay Deo his first trophy and took home four awards in all. Shah Rukh Khan also stood vindicated.
RA.One may not have got him acting honours, but the film's special effects won the Best SFX trophy.
But the night really belonged to the Akhtar siblings, who went home with two trophies each, leaving parents Javed and Honey Irani teary-eyed

(less)My son has made 5 films: Vishal Bharadwaj
" So touched was he by the children's passion for cinema that he could not stop raving about them. "They are so knowledgeable.
I don't think I knew as much when I was their age. That's the advantage today's generation has, you know.
The Internet and other technological advancements has opened a wide world to them. They are exposed to so much and they are very quick to learn too.
I am really glad that kids as young as a 12 years old are attempting to make a film these days. It is truly laudable.
Even my son has already made five films and he is just 16," says a proud Vishal. From " Makdee ", "Maqbool", "Omkara", to " Kaminey " and " 7 Khoon Maaf ", Vishal has always been a hatke director when it comes to choosing his subjects.
"I choose whatever I find interest in. I feel if it interests me, I will present it in a way that it will interest the audience also.
" Ask him what went wrong with "7 Khoon Maaf" then and he is quick to say, "It is a dark film and I think it didn't touch the chord with the viewers. I definitely believed in it and that's why I made it.
But somewhere people couldn't relate to Priyanka. I mean I thought after two killings, audience will understand that she (Priyanka) has become a serial killer but they didn't.
That, I guess, went wrong." So, after "7 Khoon Maaf", does he have any apprehensions about "Dayaan", a supernatural film.
"I am producing it. And, no, I don't really have apprehension because the concept of witches did exist in our society.
Moreover, people will get to see a real dayaan, and not like what Shabana Azmi played in "Makdee". Next, I want to make a science fiction.
" One of the first projects that brought Vishal to limelight was TV serial "Jungle Book", but the small screen isn't something that Vishal wants to get back to. "Yes, I did start with "Jungle Book" on TV, but budget is a problem with the small screen.
It is too low. So, I am not looking at TV.
"
(less)Samir Chanda's death is a complete shock: Priyanka Chopra
The National Award winning Chanda has also directed a film titled "Ekti Nodir Golpo" starring Mithun Chakraborty. Goutam Ghose, with whom Chanda worked in "Yatra", was shocked with the news.
"I have just heard the news and am extremely disturbed. This week has been really bad.
First, I heard about Tareque Masud's death. Now, it's Samir.
I can't deal with so many news of death of my close ones." Bedabrata Pain, the director of "Chittagong", says, "I was very close to Samirda.
He believed in me and "Chittagong" and practically worked for free. He really made the film happen.
I just spoke to him the day before and now he is gone." Meanwhile, micro blogging sites have also seen many celebrities paying their tribute to Chanda.
Writes Priyanka Chopra: "RIP Samir Chanda. Had the good fortune of knowing the incredible man he was in Kaminey and Saat khoon maaf.
Thank u for always believing in me. This is a complete shock.
. there is a song.
..
"only the good die young" by Billy Joel ..

" Director Shirish Kunder, on his part, writes: "RIP Samir Chanda. Was working with him on JOKER.
We just met last evening to discuss designs for next schedule. Am shocked!" Writes director Anant Mahadevan, "Actor Shammi Kapoor , Art director Samir Chanda, composer Johnson, all left within a week.
..
dark phase for the show world."
(less)Naseeruddin Shah and Paresh Rawal on stage
And, of course, Sil was there to catch them live on stage. The actor, who is also a producer later posted on a microblogging site: "At kalamandir, for Naseer bhai's Caine Mutiny.
Remember seeing it earlier year's ago. Expecting sm electrifying performance.
" He added' "Naseerbhai is always fascinating, always an experience. Almost 10-12 years back, he as Caine Mutiny Court Martial alongwith Akash Khurana & Raj Jutsi.
This time was proud to be his guest. We even spk abt this.
" As for Paresh's play the actor wrote: "Going in splits watching Paresh Rawal and team in Kishen vs Kanhaiya. Brilliant.
"
(less)Naseeruddin Shah changing priorities
Talking about how his priorities have changed over the years when it comes to choosing roles, Naseer says, "Thirty five years ago, I wanted to do films with great roles and also, desperately wanted to be recognised on the Bollywood map. Ironically, at this juncture of my life, my priorities have changed.
I am not looking for mainstream cinema or any great character. All I crave for now is a happening and an intriguing tale with a different character.
And I'm lucky to have been bestowed upon characters that have not been portrayed on the silver screen. That makes me feel priviledged.
" The actor is playing a marijuana planter in The Blueberry Hunt and will be seen as a police officer in Michael. Talking about his role in Michael , Naseer says, "This police officer's role is unlike any other police officer's character seen on the silver screen.
He is chucked out of the police job and unknowingly, commits a crime just to offer everything to his son." As for his character in The Blueberry Hunt, Naseer tells us that he plays the role of a recluse colonel, living in a forest.
"But he is secured with high technical surveillance equipment and also cultivates marijuana," he adds. With such interesting roles coming his way, no wonder Naseer feels priviledged!

(less)Milan Luthria: Lust is part of our lives
"I thought there was no point in doing something that has already been done. So I decided to take a woman and explore her in my own way," Luthria told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
"After all we are an evolving nation; with the internet being the most common tool of communication, pornography is reaching out to every household. These days people no more feel sorry about their desires.
Lust is a part of our lives and nature, so why shy away from it?" added the director who helmed "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai" and "Taxi Number 9211". In the film, Vidya's character unabashedly expresses her desires.
"There is fun in knowing unknown things, exploring a woman's mind, body and spirit in such a way as has never been done before. So, when the idea came to me, I was like why not? This is interesting and challenging.
When our country's top-notch directors like Mahesh Bhatt and Yash Chopra have made women-centric films like 'Arth' and 'Lamhe' respectively, why not me?" he asked. But "The Dirty Picture" is something that has not been attempted by A-list filmmakers.
"It is much easy to take a familiar route, but it's difficult to be different. And I was very clear from the very beginning that I didn't want to talk about their love or suffering.
I wanted something spunky. I wanted to show a woman who has guts and glory.
" The film was launched as a tell-all tale of southern sex symbol Silk Smitha, but later the filmmakers said it was not so. Asked why, Luthria said: "We are living in a media age where information gets exaggerated.
We have always said that it was based on a dance girl, but it was not Silk Smitha as in those days there were other women in the industry like Disco Shanti. The story is about a dance girl who left a mark while she was pitted against so many men.
" "It is the journey of a dancer and what goes on in her mind, what made her a phenomenon and how troubled relationships were part of her life, how she battled fame, fortune and alcohol. So it's not about Silk.
You have to see it to believe that it's a work of fiction," he added. The film has an interesting star cast.
If Vidya has shed inhibitions to ooze oomph, Naseeruddin Shah is cast as a lecherous actor, Emraan Hashmi an impatient lover and Tusshar Kapoor as wicked, but innocent. "Naseer is my friend.
I remember watching his movies like 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron' and 'Chamatkar'. I wanted to tap that side of his, but I wasn't sure how he would react.
But I was sure that his fans would love to see him in this role," said Luthria. "When I narrated the script and his role, I was surprised.
He loved it at first go. He told me, 'I want to do everything - dance, get wet in the rain, be a lech, go over the top'," he added.
The film will land in the theatres on Dec 2 and Luthria is waiting for the audience verdict with baited breath. "We wanted to fire the audience with all powerful bullets in our armory.
A lot of effort was put in music and I am glad the audience is noticing our product, which has no big names. This shows the perception of the audience is changing and it is nice to see them lapping up something experimental," he said.
But all this was not easy. "There were times when we were not sure whether we were heading in the right direction.
But I am lucky that producer ( Ekta Kapoor ) believed in my vision and trusted me completely," he added
(less)I can’t deny that sex sells: Milan Luthria
. The Dirty Picture has a lot of shock value.
..
I can't deny that sex sells. It has been selling for ages and it will outlast any other product.
And the casting is also quite shocking..
. It is a bold film and a bold casting.
In this avatar , Vidya is a delight for Indian men. She's their ultimate fantasy.
I cast her knowing that her presence will cause an uproar of curiosity. Was she apprehensive about the bold scenes? She was in a state of panic after hearing the first narration.
But I eventually calmed her down. I told her that I'd delete any shot she didn't like.
I've shot her from flattering and unflattering angles but she's happy with the way it's turned out. Naseeruddin Shah seems like an unconventional choice for a bold film.
..
He wanted to play a letch in the film. He told me he was fed up for the goody-two-shoes roles.
In fact, he's lip-syncing to Bappi da, dancing like Govinda , romancing Vidya and playing a flamboyant south Indian superstar! What was the toughest part of moulding Naseer saab in this character? Choreography. He used to come to my office every morning and his wife used to accompany him for moral support.
She even rehearsed with him a couple of times, until he got the dance steps right. Tell us something about the Tusshar - Vidya kiss! That sequence took the most time.
They were both not familiar with each other so it was sort of awkward, but they're funny characters in real life, so they kept telling each other to pop a mint and have a fresh breath. What inspired you to make a film on this subject? When I set out to make the film, it wasn't based on the life story one woman in particular.
Early 90s saw the rise of item girls in south India. You forgot the name of the actresses but you remembered Silk Smitha and Disco Shanti.
I found an unconventional hero in stories of these women and wanted to make a film on it. You're facing a lot of resistance from Silk Smitha's family.
..
I have never said that the film is based on Silk Smitha's life, and I never will. Yes, there is a source of inspiration there but the events in the film are different from her life story.
Is it true that you're re-shooting certain scenes that were over-the-top? What the promos are showing you is just the tip of the iceberg. I'd like to request people not to judge the film before seeing it
(less)I've never been a part of any camp: Priyanka Chopra
At least professionally. When faced with personal questions about rumours of her special friendship with Shah Rukh Khan, the actress fidgets and declares, "I will not talk about this.
I shall never talk about this." However, when it comes to her films, the actress doesn't shy away from answering.
About her upcoming Dharma Productions venture 'Agneepath', the actress gushes, "I am nervous and excited. Reports have been brilliant.
They have liked Hrithik (Roshan), Sanju ( Sanjay Dutt ) and my work. More than anything, they have loved the film.
I'm very proud of Karan (Malhotra, the director) as this is his first film and I'm his first heroine. For me, it's not a remake.
I hadn't even seen the original 'Agneepath' till I signed this film. Also my role has been written fresh.
" And this film strengthens her bond with Karan Johar and Dharma. She had earlier worked with the production house in 'Dostana'.
Though she is not doing 'Dostana 2', "My love story ended in the first part when I walked away with Bobby Deol" being the actress' reason for the same, her relationship with the production house has remained. "Miami to Mandva.
It was lovely working with Dharma again. As an actor, you don't involve yourself with the production much.
You're closer to the director," says the actress. Despite her proximity to Dharma, her relationship with Yash Raj Films is reportedly not as strong.
Rumour has it that Yash Raj did not keep its promise of offering her a big film after she agreed to do a small project 'Pyaar Impossible'. However, the actress maintains that it wasn't YRF she was working for but Uday Chopra Productions.
Good with a section of the industry and not too close to the rest, this is Priyanka's career graph in a nutshell. However, with single minded determination and what trade analyst Amod Mehra calls 'luck' the actress despite being shunned some, has managed to maintain her position in Bollywood.
The actress has also tried to hold on to the few 'good' relations she has in the industry. For example, despite delivering an award winning performance for Madhur Bhandarkar in 'Fashion', the filmmaker's next project 'Heroine' finally had Kareena Kapoor.
But the actress doesn't begrudge him that. "I couldn't have done that role.
Working on a similar plot did not make sense for Madhur and me. We spoke about the film several times.
I'm glad that Kareena's doing it. Both of them will work very well.
" Priyanka puts up a brave front on her reported alienation from the Salman Khan camp. "I have worked with every co-actor possible.
I don't come from a film background. I don't have relationships with people in terms of uncles and aunts.
I have been an outsider. Wherever I'm today is due to the support of this film industry.
They have given big films and amazing work to me. It hasn't been because of any director, production house, actor or a person.
I have never been a part of any camp. I respect every co-actor tremendously and equally.
I would work with anyone," declares the actress. As for her not having worked ever with the third Khan of the triumvirate, Aamir, she simply laughs, "Ask Aamir.
If the offer hasn't come to me yet, what can I say about it?" While in hushed tones, insiders do cite her friendship with Shah Rukh as the reason of her alienation from the other Khans, when questioned about her rise and rise in Bollywood, they all agree upon one thing - her professionalism. According to Suneel Darshan, who gave her the first break with 'Andaaz', " Priyanka is not the conventional beauty like Kareena Kapoor.
Despite that, she has done very well for herself. Knowing well that the perks of stardom can be really high, she has set her goals accordingly.
There is determination written all over her face. When it comes to her, there is hardly anything left between the apple and the arrow.
" But trade analyst Amod Mehra feels differently. "Kareena is number one.
Katrina is on number two. And Priyanka who was once on the second position is now on number three.
That's because Priyanka has made all the wrong choices and given many flops - '7 Khoon Maaf', 'Kaminey', 'What's Your Rashee', 'Drona'. I would say that she has been lucky," says Mehra and adds, "Also, she has limited choices.
Her big star bracket is restricted to SRK and Hrithik. Salman doesn't want to work with her.
Aamir hasn't worked with her yet. She hasn't worked much with Ajay Devgn.
And she can't work with Akshay Kumar." Filmmaker Ratan Jain who worked with Priyanka in 'Aap Ki Khatir' however seems to be almost on the same page as Darshan.
Maintaining that films in Bollywood depend on the male actor, Jain says, "Priyanka is a very popular actress. She is an excellent performer too.
Else, why would she be cast in so many movies? Note that she has also improved her acting abilities over the years."

(less)I don't mind being called a 'soft porn' star, says Tusshar
The film is an ode to the life of the southern sexy siren Vijaylakshmi, better known as Silk Smitha. The film shows her journey to stardom followed by her sudden demise.
"There are lots of shades to my character. It is not something that will get overshadowed by the title.
My image is not going to be damaged. Today, sex is not a taboo anymore.
. I think even on screen and even in our society people talk about it freely.
Even if I get a soft porn image I don't have a problem with that," Tusshar told PTI in an interview. The actor essays the role of a writer named Ramakant.
While Ramakant is genuinely in love with the character portrayed by Vidya, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah plays the character of an ageing superstar who lusts after her. While, Emraan Hashmi on the other hand hates her.
The are some intimate scenes in the film but the actor says he wasn't uncomfortable doing it. "I think it is part of your job.
. as per the demand of the script you have to do intimate scenes.
The only awkward feeling you get is when junior artists are watching you..
and you want to get it right first. It is not uncomfortable because they are watching it but you just want to do it fast.
..
you don't want to be stuck and doing the same thing again and again," Tusshar said. Also, he had to lift Vidya for a photo shoot of The Dirty Picture .
Since Vidya, had put on weight for her role, Tusshar could not get his act right and ended up giving over 150 shots. "I found it easy to lift Vidya despite her weight.
We had to do the shot approximately 150 times. The shot did not happen properly either due to position or expression or profile," he said.
The film releases on December 2. Tweet

(less)Mahesh Bhatt: Vidya Balan is a favourite among all
Such lack of inhibition in d promos of Dirty Picture is amazing"); Mahesh also complimented the "Parineeta" actor for her stupendous acting. However, besides praising the actor, the director had generous words to say about the makers and other actors in the film like Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi .
He wrote on a microblogging site, "Dirty Picture is a blockbuster! Vidya Balan,Naseer & Emraan set the screen ablaze with their outstanding performances. Milan Luthria and Ekta Kapoor need to be applauded for their audacity.
This film is a game changer." Well, Vidya seems a favourite with all
(less)The Dirty Picture is the dirtiest film I've done: Emraan
..
everything is dirty in this film. It is the dirtiest film I have done.
You cannot make a dirty picture without Emraan Hashmi," he said. The Murder actor also claimed that the film, inspired by late Southern sex siren Silk Smitha's life, would have been incomplete without casting him.
The Dirty Picture is inspired by sex icon Vijaylakshmi better known as Silk Smitha. The film shows the highs and lows of an actress-dancing star.
"The tone of the film is bold and provocative. But it does not cross the line into vulgarity.
. Vulgarity is always subjective.
The film is bold in terms of language also and few people might feel it as dirty and take it as an offence. The concept is bold but at the same time entertaining," Emraan said.
Emraan also said that veteran actor and co-star Naseeruddin Shah has got bolder and dirtier in The Dirty Picture. "As far as the bold quotient goes.
..
I am doing my own bold stuff but Naseer is the boldest in the film. I think he has taken all my mantle in the film and he is doing what I use to normally do in films," Emraan, who earned the 'serial kisser' tag after Anurag Basu's Murder , told PTI.
Due for release on December 2, the film also stars Naseeruddin Tusshar Kapoor and Vidya Balan. Tweet

Niharika Khan for The Dirty Picture Thank you Filmfare, thank you Vidya for letting make me take your clothes off. Thank you to the actors who let me keep their clothes on: Nasseruddin Shah and the entire cast.
Thank you Milan. Thank you my husband and children for letting me do my job.
- Niharika Khan on winning the award. THE RED CARPET Today was my first day of shooting for Raaz 3.
It was tiring and exhausting. Now, I'm here to sit back and cheer my friends and have a good evening: Bipasha Basu This is my first Filmfare Awards.
The studio is looking lovely. Ranbir and Vidya seem to be the absolute favourites this year.
I guess they'll win the Best Actor Award: Chitrangada I remember when I won the Best Supporting Actor award, and then immediately my name was called for Best Debut. I had one award in hand and was going on stage to pick up another.
It was the most memorable moment for me. And I keep returning to Filmfare to bring back that memory: Vivek Oberoi It's an exciting evening.
If I win a Filmfare tonight, I'll score a hattrick. It's only on this evening every year, that meri niyat thodi kharab ho jati hai, because I plan to bring a lady home: Vidya Balan I think Vidya has done a good job this year.
Even Priyanka was fabulous.
So I don't know with which films Rockstar is competing." His wife Preety is definitely rooting for Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor.
For music it has to be 'Ra.One': Sarah Jane Dais "I'm exited, nervous.
..

Thanks to everyone who has liked my song. I loved doing this so much", says singer Harshdeep Kaur who is nominated in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category for the song 'Katiya Karu' from the film Rockstar.

(less)Filmfare awards: Sizzle and repartee on the red carpet
"I have won Filmfare awards twice but this award is special," she said. "A lifetime achievement award truly does take a lifetime.
" Costume designer Manish Malhotra and Urmila Matondkar, who arrived then, stopped to congratulate the veteran actress and remarked on how "well maintained" she looked. "Arunaji is an inspiration to the young generation," Urmila told mediapersons.
After which she promptly broke into a jig while singing Dilbar dil se pyare from Aruna Irani's Caravan. Best actress nominee Vidya Balan, having lost all the lard she had put on for her Silk Smitha reprisal in The Dirty Picture, looked lovely in a green Kanjeevaram with a low-back blouse.
Widely expected to win this year too, Vidya accepted congratulations from Deepika Padukone on the red carpet . "I have not rehearsed any acceptance speech, though," she said, laughing.
Buddy Abhishek Bachchan ribbed her about wanting Maa, not Paa, to win. He arrived alone, leaving Aishwarya home to mind the new arrival.
When asked about his favourite male nominee, he said, "Am I nominated ? If not, I am not rooting for any actor!" Priyanka Chopra walked in a light blue Ferragamo gown. All excited about her act called Jungli billi ka swayamvar, which she said was "spoofy" and had all the popular characters from last year's films, she remarked, "Let's see who I end up with.
Hope people take it in the right spirit." Priyanka said she was fine with not winning an award for Saat Khoon Maaf but Vidya Balan definitely deserved to win one for The Dirty Picture.
Director Imtiaz Ali, whose Rockstar was among the leading contenders this year, came casually dressed in blue jeans and grey shirt. Wife Preeti made up for it with a lovely, formal golden churidar kurta.
When asked for his opinion on the other films in the running, Imtiaz replied that he had barely seen them, so busy was he travelling for his own. Despite having a stellar career of 42 years behind her, Usha Uthup, a Best Singer nominee, has never won a Filmfare .
"I've been singing since 1969 and I so badly want this award," she exclaimed. "This has been a good year, what with Darling and Don 2.
" Known for her traditional Indian ensemble-which accentuates the contrast with her husky, "western" voice-the singer wore a perfectly coordinated black-and-gold ensemble , complete with Kanjeevaram work on her keds. "These shoes were actually Reeboks," she laughed.
"Now they are Kanjeevaram keds. Isn't that cool!" Another super singer, Shreya Ghoshal-who walked in in a glamorous red gown by Sameer Patel-was all praise for Usha Uthup and said she wanted her to win for the rumbustious Darling.

from Saat Khoon Maaf. "Ushaji is a legend and I don't consider myself her competitor ," she said

Tweet

(less)Vidya Balan becomes ‘Ms Giggles’
. call her what you will, but her co-star, Naseeruddin Shah has already given her a nickname, and a hatke one at that.
Recently, while Vidya was talking to zoOm about getting 'dirty' with her heroes, she let us in on a little known secret. "We were shooting a very serious scene for Ishqiya .
I'd often see a spot-boy scratching his head or scratching something else, and burst out laughing while saying my dialogue! Ever since, Naseer saab calls me 'Ms Giggles', she told us. And even as we were listening to this story, it was evident why he called her that, because Vidya just wouldn't stop giggling! We say giggle away girl, with your Ooh La La performance, you've left a nation-ful of men with more than a giggle.

Ishqiya 2 will be a cult film: Arshad Warsi
..
different in every sense," Arshad posted on his Twitter page. He is set to play a rustic guy once again.
In the first instalment of Ishqiya , which bagged four national awards, Arshad essayed Babban, a hot-blooded, lustful man, who scoffs at the idea of true romantic love. The movie released in 2010, and also featured Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles.

(less)I'm very romantic at heart: Naseeruddin Shah
In his 60s the actor is still going as strong and fresh as ever, getting to play very interesting characters. "35 years ago I wanted to do films with great roles and also desperately wanted to be recognized on the Bollywood map.
Ironically, at this juncture of my life I have changed priorities. I am not looking for mainstream cinema or any great character.
All I crave for is a good happening and an intriguing tale with a different character", says the actor. Surprisingly enough, the versatile actor was deprived of being offered any romantic roles in films.
"I am very romantic at heart in real life. But I fail to understand how come the directors could never see me performing romantically inclined characters.
In Ishqiya I did perform romantic sequences in a challenging manner opposite Vidya Balan. This is the only romantic character offered to me in my lifetime", he smiles.
Ask him about his disheveled look in his forthcoming film Michael and The Blueberry Hunt and he says, "I look different because I did not have time to shave, so I continued with my bearded look. The Blueberry Hunt is a different film completely with an environmental background.
So the look has to be that way. However I'm happy that people like me in that shabby yet appealing look", says Naseer with a twinkle in his eyes
(less)Filmfare Awards: Rocking evening, great moments
As it turned out, Zindagi..
. cleared the course by winning seven trophies, followed by Rockstar with five and Delhi Belly with four.
The Dirty Picture picked up three. Ranbir Kapoor's and Vidya Balan's bold attempt to break the mould they had been cast in all along and essay roles that had darker shades-he a troubled rock star and she an unapologetic sex bomb-paid off in the form of the Best Actor and Best Actress award for Rockstar and The Dirty Picture.
Ranbir's turn got him a rare double whammy with the Critics' Award for Best Actor as well. Expectedly, Rockstar swept up three music awards too-Best Lyrics, Best Singer (Male) and Best Composer for A R Rahman.
The evening began with a musical tribute to Dev Anand, with Javed Ali of Coke Studio doing a version of Dil ka bhanwar, Aise na mujhe tum dekho and Khoya khoya chand. A ponytailed Shaan , accompanied by Leslie Lewis in a ponytail , stepped up with an ode to Shammi Kapoor with Baar baar dekho, Dil deke dekho and Badan pe sitare.
This year, the hosts were a mixed doubles pair of sorts. There was Shah Rukh minus his regular partner Saif, and Ranbir sans co-anchor Imran.
Still, each new permutation and combination worked just as brightly. SRK and Ranbir dropped from an aerial harness and collided mid-air as sparks flew literally.
SRK ribbed Ranbir, accusing him of overacting and saying that sons of great actors seldom matched up. Ably supported by Karan Johar , Ali Zafar and former Miss India Ankita Shorey, the duo made the audience crack up with their antics.
As always, the event drew an A-list of performers whose flamboyant acts lent glamour to the soiree. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan , there was Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone , who each enacted a medley of their hit numbers.
Having brought their long relationship out of wraps recently, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia, who are to get married on February 3, shortly also put up a spirited pre-nuptial tango that included a song from their forthcoming film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. The hall resounded with applause when the Lifetime Achievement award was given to veteran actress Aruna Irani .
Back in 1961, few would have thought that the toothy child star of Ganga Jumna, who so enthusiastically sang Insaaf ki dagar pe, would acquire pride of place in Hindi cinema as a talented actor and dancer. "I have spent 56 years in the industry and I am so happy to know that my work is respected and appreciated," she told TOI.
"The charm of this award is very different from that which one gets for one role. It's rather like putting your marks in individual roles aside for the total marks of your career.
" Circa 2011, a veritable annus horribilis as far as the arts and media world was concerned, saw the demise of an unusually high number of performers in the film world, from Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Jagjit Singh , Bhupen Hazarika and many others. They were remembered through an AV.

(less)Priyanka Chopra does an Anna Hazare
Now for Anurag Basu's Barfee , last week in Ooty, Priyanka has done an Anna Hazare, so to speak. For a sequence that required her character to be locked away in a room for three days without food, water or any company, PC declared she would go the whole hog.
No faking for the character, she declared. Says a source, "At first Ranbir laughed off Priyanka's method acting.
' Tu Marlon Brando hai kya ?', the actor joked. He told her to 'just act' the sequence.
But PC was adamant. She made it very clear to Anurag that she would actually go through her character's ordeal for three days.
" All attempts to dissuade the actress failed and Anurag had to give in. However, the director had a condition, that he too, will join her.
Says a source, "To Anurag, who had written the character and the sequence, it seemed unfair that Priyanka should go at it alone. He insisted on going through what the actress' character suffers when confined to a solitary life.
Only then did Anurag allow Priyanka to go through the harrowing experience herself." Significantly, both Anurag and Priyanka have health issues and could ill afford the luxury of "living" their character's trauma.
In fact, PC has earlier suffered two bouts of fatigue and nervous exhaustion, which put her in the hospital. The Barfee experience of staying without food, water and company for three days has been serious pressure on the health of both the actress and the director.
Priyanka, we are told, remained silent and unresponsive for a week after the shooting. Says the source, "We all tried to dissuade both of them from this madness.
But they wouldn't listen. First Anurag locked himself away in the room in Ooty that Priyanka's character was supposed to be confined in.
And then she went through the three-day isolation." The spokesperson for Barfee confirmed the above story.
