Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.
I had said that I look up to both Simran and Jyothika, who had a mixed bag of roles- performance-oriented and cute characters. Both had their own fan following .
They are my role models and I want to have a beautiful lineup of characters like them," says the actor
(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

(less)Mohit Suri to direct Aashiqui 2 with fresh faces
"It's been 20 years for that film. So, obviously now I will have to upgrade this story.
It will be the same realistic love story but with a modern theme," Suri told IANS. Aashiqui won critical accolades after its release at the time.
It also catapulted the careers of lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, who forayed into Bollywood with this film. Suri is also set to hunt for new faces for the sequel.
"I will cast fresh faces with a new boy and a new girl," said Mohit. While some are referring to Aashiqui 2 as a sequel, others are calling it a remake.
However, producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films sets the record straight. "It is neither a sequel nor a remake.
It can be said as the musical series of Aashiqui ..
.a new generation is making this film," he said.

Bollywood movies going the 3-Dimensional way
The latest is that Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, producer and director of Don 2 , are keen to take their sequel of the Shah Rukh starrer to the new level. And apart from dubbing in Tamil and Telugu, Don 2 will also be released in 3D in the two south-Indian languages, besides Hindi, on December 23.
"Looking at the demand for the brand Don , we decided on the 3D format. We first did a few 3D conversion tests on the earlier Don and the outcome was very good," enthuses Ritesh, adding that while shooting the sequel, the 3D version was always at the back of Farhan's mind.
The producer further continues, "Since Farhan felt that the new format would make the Don experience even more memorable and exciting, we decided to go ahead with the 3D format. I was in Los Angeles recently and saw some 3D conversion tests and was totally blown by the effect.
" Moving on after Haunted, Bhatt is making not one, but two movies in 3D; Raaz 3 and Dangerous Ishq . Shirish Kunder has completed a schedule of Joker , his 3D film with Akshay Kumar and Sohail Khan will start his Sher Khan with Salman Khan next year.

(less)Rahman unveils romantic album at Taj Mahal
Rahman. "The movie has so many romantic songs, so what can be the perfect way to project my songs with Taj as a backdrop.
I always want people to recognise my music and this is what I am trying to do (through this album)," Rahman told reporters here on the sidelines of the music launch. "The film is the perfect expression of love and that's what the songs speak," he added.
Rahman was accompanied by the film's cast, Prateik and Amy Jackson. Even Prateik is excited to have got a chance to work with The Mozart of Madras.
"I love Taj, especially because it is a symbol of love. Also, working with Rahman was such a delight," said Prateik.
The album has an interesting mix of romantic and emotional numbers. While two of them are fresh Hindi songs, the remaining five are Hindi versions of original songs sung in Tamil and Telugu.
The lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. Directed by Gautham Menon, the film revolves around an aspiring filmmaker from Mumbai, who falls in love with a woman from a strict orthodox Christian family.
It is the remake of Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa , which was also directed by Menon. Tweet
(less)American star Amy Rasimas in Bollywood flick
According to sources, the decision to take in Amy was reached when the unit was in the US some months ago, and decided to have a special version for its worldwide release. "Since the movie is set in USA and is on the plight of Sikhs post 9/11, it required an overdose of foreign element.
A separate character was created which is played by Amy," said the source. It is also been said that Amy has been paid around Rs 1.
5 crore for the project and that she might also groove in film's title song 'Sher jeha dil sada, I am Singh'. The movie has two versions, one for the Indian market and the other for international audiences.
Confirming this, Puneet said, "Yes the international version is scrunched to 90 minutes from the original 2.05 hours.
Amy is present in both the versions, but she's more prominent in the film's foreign variant." However, the names in both the versions remain the same and it will release simultaneously.
Amy, who has worked in dozens of films, including "Dinocroc vs. Supergator" and "The Unit", is happy to have reserved a berth in Bollywood.
When contacted, Amy said, "Indian film industry is vast and I would want to do more projects here." On "I am Singh" she said, "It's a challenging role and with this I am learning the finer nuances of acting, especially in Hindi movies.
" Standing tall at 5'.10", Amy plays the role of a lawyer who represents South Asian community.
"Her role is designed in keeping her personality," said Puneet. Notably, Amy's also a model and is keen to work in Indian reality shows.
"I have many Indian friends and that's another reason I am inquisitive about Indian cinema," said Amy, who after graduating from the Los Angeles County High School joined Brian Riese acting studio in Hollywood. (less)Shah Rukh, Imran: B-town’s newest Khan brothers
However, the production house's casting plans for the Hindi version have come as a shock. In the original, Madhavan and Arya play brothers - one who is peace loving and an overall good person and the other a ruffian.
And now for the Hindi version, Mumbai Mirror has learnt that UTV are keen to cast the untried star-pair - Shah Rukh Khan and Imran Khan - in the lead roles. However, according to a source close to the developments, Madhavan, who has made a name for himself in Tamil and Hindi cinema, is keen on essaying his character in the remake.
"But UTV, who have earned huge profits with the Tamil film, would rather take the remake further with two big stars in the lead roles. And since Shah Rukh and Imran have shied away from remakes of South Indian films, the production house feels that the novelty factor of their pairing will add to the edge of the remake," added the source.
When contacted, Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV was noncommittal about the pairing and simply said, "Nothing has been finalised yet. It's too early to talk about the details.
But we're definitely considering remaking our Tamil production Vettai in Hindi, since it's a huge success down south."

I got many offers but didn't sign any project as I was getting the same bubbly girls roles offer. "I didn't want to be stereotyped.
And certainly I didn't want to be another Saro (her character in Ko )," said Piaa, adding: "When a good film from K-Town will come my way, I will consider it." Piaa has always been maintaining that Bollywood is her ultimate goal.

(less)Lanka: Movie Review
Jaswant Sisodia (Manoj Bajpayee) rules supreme in the town of Bijnor and one of his indulgences involve forcing a girl Anshu (Tia Bajpai) to be his mistress. Anshu's parents are as helpless and humiliated as the vulnerable victim, who ironically gets willfully raped every night by Jaswant.
Jaswant's close aid (Arjan Bajwa), who he as well considers his younger brother, comes to the town and supervises his illicit operations. His loyalty towards Jaswant remains integral until his empathy towards Anshu overpowers it.
That's when he decides to betray his mentor. Visibly Tia symbolizes Sita, Manoj Bajpayee represents Raavan, and Arjan Bajwa stands for Vibhishan in this selective depiction of Ramayana.
And through its dense drama, the film justifies Vibhishan's stand to stand against the morally wrong Raavan. Where debutante director Maqbool Khan's expertise comes is in giving Manoj Bajpayee's character a poised tone wherein, on one hand he is despicable for the heroine, on the other hand he is role model for the hero.
As an audience, you relate to both the extreme shades in his personality, which can also be immensely attributed to Bajpayee's persuasive hold on the character. The plotline isn't entirely inventive and one has seen thematically similar interpretations, notably in Rakesh Roshan's Koyla (1997) or more recently Kites (2010).
How it steers clear from other cinematic adaptations of Ramayana is from the fact that it intentionally avoids incorporating Ram as the ideal protagonist and substitutes it with Vibhishan who might not be perfect yet opposes evil. So the entire essence of the film lies in the camaraderie between Raavan-Vibhishan (Bajpayee-Bajwa) and their subsequent conflict.
Thereby the director keeps the romance track between Arjan Bajwa and Tia Bajpai to the minimal and thankfully the narrative never branches out into their individual love story. A better alternative would have been to restrict their bonding only till empathetic emotions (like in Emraan Hashmi's Awaarapan ) over the avoidable streak of romance.
The focus is more on the conflict between men than highlighting the trauma inflicted on the woman. Thereby the lust and obsession that fuels Jaswant's desire to dominate Anshu, both, physically and psychologically, remains peripheral to the plot and doesn't register effectively enough.
In fact their back-story is never fleshed out. Somewhere there is more amity between the male leads than animosity with Arjan Bajwa's duty-bound character being a mute spectator for the major runtime before he rebels in the very end.
And post his revolt, the film comes to a quick end with a solo climactic confrontation scene between the men. The climax, however, seems hurried and convenient in the bigger picture.
It's sad then that what could have been shown as a rare account of ethical unfaithfulness ends up being a generalized preachy epilogue on how men should treat woman with respect and how wronged woman should not lose hope and continue their fight against injustice and blah blah blah. It almost changes the tenor of the male-dominated drama to a woman-liberation film.
Shashank Dabral's writing is fairly interesting to the extent that it never strikes your engaged mind that Arjan Bajwa's character name is never mentioned in the film. However the political nexus in the narrative isn't seamlessly integrated with central plot and rather runs parallel to it.
Also the dialogues could have been more effective over the trite lines. The film is completely designed in and around Manoj Bajpayee's character and the actor justifies the immense scope he gets with an authoritative performance.
He has a menacing attitude, his eyes speak volumes, he laughs hysterically and thankfully never goes overboard (despite a strong tendency to ham). Arjan Bajwa is impressive as the man of few words and despite Bajpayee's towering persona; he still commands good screen presence.
Fortunately Tia Bajpai is given the least lines, scenes and footage in the film and one doesn't complain. Yateen Karyekar as the defenseless father is impressive.
The immensely talented Manish Chaudhari doesn't get much scope here. Yashpal Sharma is regular.
Director Maqbool Khan shows restraint and refinement in crafting his first film. This Lanka, though not full of gold, has some shining moments.
Finally there's a film about Raavan which belongs to its Raavan! Verdict: Good
(less)Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.one has a tribute for Rajnikanth
one'' will pay tribute to southern superstar Rajnikanth , whose ''Endhiran'', a 2010 Tamil science-fiction film, broke many box office records. Reports of similarities between 'Endhiran' and ''Ra.
one'' have been surfacing since SRK's film went on the floors but the Bollywood actor claims that his release is different. They (Endhiran and Ra.
one ) are different films and how to compare. Ours is a different film.
I will not like to talk or claim about anyone elses film but Rajni sir is respectable to all of us. Actually, we have a tribute to Rajni Sir in the film.
We love him," Shahrukh told reporters here last night. ''Ra.
One'', a science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha, stars Shahrukh, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in lead roles. It also stars Shahana Goswami, Dilip Tahil and Chinese-American actor Tom Wu in supporting roles.
While ''Endhiran'' directed by S Shankar featured Rajinikanth in dual roles--as a scientist and an android robot--alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Shahrukh said his film is indigenous and made in India.
"Everything you have seen is produced here?we are proud of it and have done a great job. We have taken the technology forward and we should be proud of it," he said.
Besides, ''Ra.one'' will also be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu for the southern audience.
"The film will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. Dubbing for Tamil and Telugu is going on simultaneously.
Also, we intend to dub the film in German and some other languages," he said. ''Ra.

(less)Kareena to perform on Kolaveri Di at award function
This track was included in recently-released Hindi movie The Dirty Picture , and was filmed on Vidya Balan. She would also perform on Ringa Ringa from Telugu film Arya 2 .
This song was re-tuned with Hindi lyrics for the Salman Khan-starrer blockbuster Ready , a remake of the 2008 Telugu film of the same name. In the Hindi version of the song, Ringa Ringa was replaced with Dhinka Chika .
Kolaveri Di , sung by southern star Dhanush and released late last year, has become a rage across the country. "No other actress has attempted an act with Kolaveri Di at an award show.
It is for the first time that Kareena will perform to such a mix of songs and she is putting in a lot of hard work for her performance," sources said. The 31-year-old glamorous actor would be performing at the seventh edition of Apasara Awards here this evening.

(less)Dhanush signs first Hindi film Raanjhnaa
Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame. He says he chose Dhanush for his simplicity.
"For the past six months, I've been looking for a simple boy to play the lead in 'Raanjhnaa'. My requirement was a man who could look vulnerable on screen.
When I saw Dhanush in the Tamil film Aadukalam , I liked him immediately. He looks very ordinary and honest, and that was the demand of the character," Rai said in a press statement.
If the grapevine is to be believed, the director had approached him for the movie before the success of Kolaveri di , from the upcoming Tamil film 3 , directed by wife Aishwarya. Dhanush, who is Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's son-in-law, is not too well versed with Hindi.
But it won't be a barrier for his Bollywood career as he is keen to explore the industry and learn the local language and culture. "It's a big deal to get a launch like this at the beginning of my career here.
Aanand's script is different from regular cinema; it's one of those 'made to make a difference' kind of films," said Dhanush. "The film is an intense love story.
Just like my film Tanu Weds Manu , the film and its characters will take you to Delhi, Punjab, Chennai," said Rai. Both Dhanush and Rai recently visited Benaras for the film.
The actor is also perhaps planning to hire a coach to learn Hindi. He is convinced that by the time the film's shoot gets over, he will be able to communicate fluently in Hindi, which will open more avenues for him.

(less)Rajnikanth's daughters set for a clash at box office
Both his daughters Aishwaryaa and Soundarya are locked in a race to apparently release the Hindi version of their respective Tamil films around the same time, irrespective of the loss in profits one may cause to the other. While news of Soundarya's Kochadaiyyan , featuring Rajnikanth himself, being dubbed from Tamil to Hindi for a wider audience is already known, now we hear that Aishwaryaa's 3 , better known for its iconic Kolaveri Di song by her singer/actor husband Dhanush, will also be dubbed in Hindi to release along with its Tamil version.
Dhanush confirmed, "Yes, I am planning to dub 3 in Hindi and release it along with the Tamil version. It's a thriller; there's nothing culture-specific about it.
" The decision, apparently, was taken earlier this month in the light of Kolaveri Di 's unprecedented success. When the song was shot for the film last week, everyone in the crew was convinced the film had the potential to launch Dhanush in Bollywood.
A source said, "Everyone connected with the project felt that a Hindi version of 3 was the need of the hour especially with its track Kolaveri di busting charts across the world. Then the way the song was shot, it sounded even better than expected.
Only Dhanush had misgivings. He felt his Bollywood debut should not be a dubbed Tamil film.
But he was out voted by the rest of the 3 team." It seems like Aishwaryaa's 3 has an edge to the finishing line, as the romantic portions featuring Rajnikanth are yet to be shot in Kochadaiyyan .
Interestingly when we asked Dhanush if he would like to work with his sister-in-law Soundarya at some point, he dismissed the idea saying, "She is not my kind of a director." Tweet
(less)New York Times Reviews Ra.One: 'Great effects, lame script'
Not that it could be mistaken for anything other than what it is: a Bollywood epic with a magpie appetite and, of course, songs and dances. (The catchy, clubby Chammak Challo , featuring Akon, is already a hit.
) For all its cost, digital effects and virtual reality feints, Ra.One is a traditional, if somewhat undercooked, Hindi movie confrontation between good and evil.
After all, the villain is named Ra.One (for Random Access Version 1.
0), which can be pronounced Raavan, like the 10-headed demon in the Ramayana. And G.
One, the hero, is also Jeevan, which means life. Sporting a wig of floppy curls, Shah Rukh Khan, the film's star and guiding force, plays Shekhar, a nerdy computer game designer in London.
(Even the thieves speak Hindi in this town.) To win the admiration of his son, Prateek (Armaan Verma), he creates a game in which the bad guy, Ra.
One, is more powerful than the hero, G.One.
But Ra.One breaks into the real world and wants to kill Prateek, which sends the boy and his mother (Kareena Kapoor, looking great with a few new pounds) to India with G.
One (Mr. Khan again, sans curls), who has also come to life.
Ra.One , directed by Anubhav Sinha, works hard with its money.
(The Times of India has reported the budget as $30 million.) Full of digital effects, wire work and things that go flying (cars, men, supermen) the movie is technically as sophisticated as anything Bollywood has produced.
A standout is G.One's rescue of Kareena on a runaway train that crashes rather spectacularly out of Victoria Terminus in Mumbai.
You can see the money on screen, if not in the screenwriting. The exposition is longwinded and confusing, as are the rules of the game, in the virtual and the real worlds.
The bumbling Shekhar is too clownish; Ra.One is a dud demon (Raavan is invoked to little effect) who disappears for chunks of time; and you probably won't hold your breath as good fights evil.
But if the storytelling disappoints (shocking!), the film mostly doesn't. It relies on action and effects and Bollywood's trump card, star power, to carry the day.
This is Shah Rukh Khan's movie, and once he sheds Shekhar's droopy locks, he shines as the deadpan, action-hero robot with digital snot and smooth moves on the dance floor. Tweet
(less)Gautham Menon to relaunch Aditya Roy Kapoor
But now it turns out he has been busy in the south shooting for a Tamil-Telugu-Hindi movie, being directed by Menon. Menon, who is in the news for his new Hindi film "Ek Deewana Tha", confirmed the news.
"Yes, I am working with Aditya Roy Kapoor in a film that I am making in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The Hindi version with Aditya is called 'Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau'," he said.
About Kapoor, Menon said: "I spotted him on the location for Vipul Shah's 'Action Replayy'. I immediately knew he was right for 'Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau'.
" Menon has apparently shot almost the entire film already. The movie also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
While Kapoor plays the lead in the Hindi version of this adventure-comedy-drama, Tamil superstar Jeeva and Telugu star Nani play the lead in the other two versions of the film. Interestingly, Samantha, whom Menon introduced in Telugu film "Ye Maaya Chesave" in 2010, features in all three versions of the film.
"I already have three different heroes in three different languages to deal with. In addition, three heroines would have been impossible to handle.
So Samantha stars in all three languages," said Menon. The director says shooting a tri-lingual is like making three different films.
"I do one shot with Aditya and then the same shot with Jeeva and Nani. We go through every shot three times over in exactly the same way.
I've never done a film simultaneously in three languages," he said. However, Menon is worried about other things for now.
"At the moment, my full focus is on the release of 'Ek Deewana Tha'. It's a simple, old-fashioned love story," he said

It is my imagination of what would have happened if the mythological characters existed in 2011." All set to direct the film himself, Ramu has even decided to cast the biggest stars of Telugu cinema for his opus.
Situated in Andhra Pradesh, circa 2011, the film will be based on a war between two big corporates. "It is the story of Dasharath Rao who heads Ayodhya group of companies.
He is married to Kaushalya. On a business trip, he meets a woman named Kaikeyi Agarwal and ends up marrying her," revealed Ramu about the storyline of his next big venture.
"Dasharath Rao promises his second wife Kaikeyi that he will hand over his business to her son Bharat Kumar and not Ram Shankar, his son from the first wife. He asks Ram to head a sick unit situated far away.
Ram's brother Lakshman Shankar follows him," added the filmmaker. And the story gets better with the rivals of Ayodhya group entering the scene.
Lanka group of companies headed by Raavan Raju creates problems for Dasharath's family. Raavan has a brother Bheeshan Raju and a sister Shoorapauna.
Shoorapauna is a party animal and a drug addict. While the character names and the plot would appear comic to many, Ramu himself denied making a parody of the religious text.
"Unlike the speculations, my film is not going to be a comedy or a parody. It will be a very serious family thriller on the lines of Sarkar.
It will first be made in Telugu and then in Hindi," said the filmmaker. Ramu even assured that with this film he would make sure no religious sentiments are hurt.
A source close to the filmmaker told us, "Ramu recently saw the Telugu film Shri Ram Rajyam Prabhu Dev . That's when the idea of making a modern day version of the epic struck him.
He is currently filming Bejawada in Hyderabad. After this he will decide on the cast for RGV Ki Ramayana.
The Hindi version will in fact be rather interesting."

AR Murugadoss was always to direct the Hindi version of Ramana - a movie that deals with anti-corruption. Shah Rukh is all set to play the vigilante in this one, and has already given a nod to the producer and director.
However, a source informs us that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will indeed be seen playing a part in Bajirao Mastani and not Ramana. he hunt for a female lead in Ramana is still on.
So SRK will be seen in not one but two of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's productions

But it does not mean that if south film remakes are doing well so I am here or it is the right time for me to make a film in Hindi. I have already made Ek Deewana Tha in Tamil and Telugu and it did well.
I was always looking to do this film in Hindi..
.I thought it would be universally appealing," Gautham told PTI in an interview.
"It took us some time to come up with the Hindi version as we had pre-production work - planning dialogues to getting dates of Prateik. Since February 2010, we wanted to do this film much before the hindi version of Bodyguard, Ready and Singham came out and became hits," he said.

(less)Sivaji changed my life completely: Shriya Saran
It did give me a lot of respect. It did open a lot of doors for me.
Deepa Mehta saw me in Sivaji and took me for Cooking With Stella and again in Midnight's Children . A lot of Hindi movie directors approached me after Sivaji ," said 29-year-old Shriya Saran.
The 2007 movie that had superstar Rajinikanth in the title role was one of the top earners of the year. Though she has made it big in southern cinema, Shriya is still struggling for name and fame in Bollywood and her last Hindi release was 2009 movie Ek: The Power of One .
After a three-year break, she will be seen in a Hindi movie titled Gali Gali Shor Hai which she said "is a political satire. It's not that we are slapping the system.
It's just that we are trying to bring a change." Shriya has teamed up with Mugdha Godse and Akshaye Khanna in Gali Gali Shor Hai , which is hitting screens Feb 3.
"Don't know whether it's a comeback or a long gap, but when I am doing a Telugu film people often ask me, 'Why aren't you doing Tamil films? When I am doing a Tamil film, they ask me why aren't you doing Hindi films. It was never a conscious effort.
I would like to do Hindi films as I am comfortable talking in Hindi," she said. Not only Hindi, she speaks other languages effortlessly.
"Hindi comes naturally to me because it's my mother tongue. Of course, even English! Telugu I have learnt and it is my third language.
I have also learnt Tamil but Malayalam is difficult." She may be working with people from different culture, background and languages, but the actress feels there is no cultural difference when it comes to work.
"Language changes with people, language changes with the sense of humour. The way stories are told changes.
The story said in Telugu will be different, Malayalam will be different and Hindi will be different. But the work culture doesn't really depend on the industry; it depends on the director you work with.
It depends on the people working on the film," Shriya stated. She would love to do more and more films, but remakes do not excite her so much.
"I don't enjoy remakes so much. I mean I am not sure whether I would be interested in remaking my own film.
Sometimes when story is changed and done well, then it's fantastic like Ghajini and Bodyguard . Dabangg and 3 Idiots have been remade in Tamil.
Story line should be changed in remakes," she said. Tweet

(less)Shah Rukh Khan in a South film remake?
Interestingly, word is that several prominent producers were vying for the Bollywood rights of the film, especially now when anti-corruption statements have acquired a profound relevance, thanks to Anna Hazare. A source said, "After acquiring the rights of the Telugu film Vikramarkurdu which he has remade as Rowdy Rathod with its original director Prabhu Deva helming the Hindi remake, Sanjay was not really open to another South remake.
He did Rowdy..
. for the experience.
But then someone recommended Ramana to him. When Sanjay saw the film, he was blown away.
Made nine years ago, it is still as relevant. He had to acquire the remake rights and he had to get the director of the Tamil original to do it.
" The film will be directed by A R Murugadoss, who is said to have already approached Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead. Murugadoss confirmed, "I will be directing the Hindi version of Ramana .
Shah Rukh and I have talked about the film." Ramana featuring Vijaykanth in the lead and directed by the Ghajini maker Murugadoss was an all-time hit in Tamil.

Overseas also, the movie has improved Vidya Balan's star status. Christening the film, The Lovely Picture , Komal Nahta, trade expert and editor of koimi.
com said, "The Hindi version has netted Rs 29.75 crore while the Tamil-Telugu versions have made Rs 1.
6 crore. Even on Monday, the morning and afternoon shows in many theatres were full.
" Concluding that he sees the film netting Rs 60 crore, he said, "That means distributors' share of Rs 30 crore from India alone." In the same vein, Amod Mehra, another trade veteran, attributes the movie' success to the promotions that connected with the audience immediately.
"The music has worked well. And the content was strong," he observed, pointing out that had the content been just sleazy without a sound story, then it wouldn't have worked.
If one thought the movie would not have clicked so well in the northern and eastern parts of the country, because of the inspiration from South siren Silk Smitha, it'd be wrong. Delhi-based distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts Ltd says that the film delivered more than their expectations.
"I thought it would net about Rs 23 crore in the first three days, but about Rs 30 crore is mind-blowing. A movie can't work so well just on the masses, but needs the gentry and the youth to come in to watch it too.
Despite the 'A' rating, the film has done fabulously," he said. Aditya Choksi of Indore-based Akshar Enterprises shares Ghai's opinion.
He had expected the movie to do well in Central India, as he said, "I had faith in director Milan Luthria, the shock value of his subject and the correct promotion. When a film holds strong on Monday, it proves that content and right marketing are king.
The first three days' numbers of this film are more than Rockstar and Desi Boyz ." On Tuesday too, the trade gurus are expecting the film to continue its good run, due to Muharram being a bank holiday.
As Manoj Desai, Executive Director of Maratha Mandir and G7 Cineplex tells us, "Non-Muslim audience will come in to see the film that is already getting its repeat audience. People are enjoying the film and applauding often for many scenes and dialogue.
And not to forget Vidya Balan, for the bold way in which she's portrayed the part of Silk." Mehra is certain the film will continue to do well in its second weekend too, never mind Yashraj's Ladies VS Ricky Bahl with Ranveer Singh and Anuska Sharma releasing this Friday.
" Ladies VS Ricky Bahl is not looking great. So whatever numbers The Dirty Picture does in its second weekend is additional bonus.
It's already done enough numbers to be a super hit," he concluded. Tweet
(less)Review: Kannada Movie Body Guard
Tamil remake was titled Kavalan and Vijay and Asin Thottumkal starrer received a satisfactory response at the ticket window, and the Hindi version starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor was a hit too. While the earlier three versions were directed by Siddique, Anand wielded the megaphone for the Kannada remake.
In fact, he returned to direction after a long time. The film suffers on many counts.
The artists selected for lead roles are miscast. Actor-director Guru Datt, who plays heroine's father, doesn't fit the bill either.
Jaggesh, who does well in comedies, doesn't look good in his role. Poor production values has also affected the film badly.
Though the Kannada version has followed the Malayalam original, its screen presentation is of low quality. The melodramatic twist in the last 20 minutes is certainly a treat for the viwers who have not seen the original or the other two versions.
Jaggesh has tried his best to salvage the film by his comic timing and peculiar dialogue delivery. But Jaggesh's effort will not overshadow the weak points in the film which includes lack of depthness in the narration.
The film moves at snail's pace and crucial sequences are marred by poor writing. When a politician is attacked by his opponents, safety of his and his family members becomes an issue.
So, Ashokanna hires Jayakrishna as his daughter Ammu's bodyguard. Jayakrishna accompanies her even to her college, which makes things awkward for Ammu.
Ammu pretends to love Jaykrishna and even calls him from a private number. But Ammu's pretence becomes reality and she actually falls for her bodyguard.
Meanwhile Ammu's friend Poorna plays a spoil sport. How Jayakrishna and Ammu are united in the end forms the rest of the story.
Daisy Shah looks artificial and her performance leaves much to be desired. Spoorthi is just okay.
Sadhu Kokila shines in comedy sequences. Ashok's camera work and Vinaya Chandra's music are much better when compared to other technical work in the film.
Body Guard is just an average flick which can be enjoyed only by ardent Jaggesh fans. Tweet
Tweet
(less)Gali Gali Chor Hai: Movie Review
In a country governed by corruption, the common man is still ruled by red-tapism. The maximum that he can do is hurl a shoe at bureaucracy or slap the system.
And that's precisely what the hero of the film does. Beyond that he and his story are as powerless as the common man.
Bharat (Akshaye Khanna) works as a bank cashier who plays Hanuman in the local Ram Leela and aspires to upgrade to the lead role of Ram someday. When he refuses to offer his house for the political campaign of a local candidate (Murli Sharma), the politico's younger brother (Amit Mistry) gets him embroiled in a bureaucratic mess.
He is forced to reclaim from court, a table fan supposedly stolen from his house, for which he has to bribe everyone from the constable, witness, lawyer to even the thief. He ends up paying a fortune for the fan, which, in first place, was never his.
Problems persist when he wishes to get rid of the ill-fated fan. The basic theme and treatment of this political satire is right away reminiscent of Pankaj Kapur's popular TV series ' Office Office ' which highlighted the common man's vulnerability against a corrupt system.
The struggle for retrieving an object, which was neither yours nor desired by you, gives way for an interesting black comedy. Moreover in a society bogged down by bureaucracy to extremities and where anything and everything is possible, writers Mumukshu Mudgal and Rumy Jafry don't need to go that extra mile to make the black comedy believable enough.
Things fall into place in the script almost through the inherent spirit of bribery. The narrative also smartly establishes the irony that when another household object is actually stolen, the cynical Bharat never reports its loss.
But once the 'systematic' exploitation is firmly established in the first half, the audience expects the tables to turn in the second half with hopes that the hero would give his detractors a taste of their own medicine. Sadly what follows is more turmoil for him in his attempts to get rid of the fan that boomerangs back.
Since you identify with Bharat's common man character who is repeatedly at the receiving end, it becomes distressing after a while because you see your defeat in his. Some sequences are genuinely funny but by large the screenplay seems 'fan'atically stretched over a single conflict.
The actual scope for some (courtroom) drama in the climax is hastily edited in a transition song. While the social satire mocks at corruption through its runtime, in the climax, the hero has to resort to corruption to set himself free.
Thereby this anti-graft drama sets a sad example for itself and endorses bribery, when everything else fails. And when you expect the politician's payback time to have actually started when the hero slaps him, you are surprised to see the end credits roll.
Director Rumy Jafry never makes his common-man protagonist larger-than-life, perhaps implying that there is no practical solution to the widespread disease of corruption. Unfortunately his film hangs between neo-realism and escapism.
The hero waving the national flag in end credits can induce artificial patriotism but not curb corruption. The narrative is needlessly corrupted with love song and item number - both of which are absolutely avoidable.
What's more redundant is a tangential track where Bharat's wife (Shriya Saran) doubts him of having an affair with the paying guest (Mughda Godse). The family drama remains unconnected with the core corruption saga and the film could have easily done without a romance track.
The Ram Leela episodes that play in parallel makes for an interesting setting but the director could have used its analogy with the central plot more effectively. Akshaye Khanna, for a pleasant change, doesn't go theatrical despite his staged Ram Leela acts.
He maintains restrain in his performance and convincingly brings out the susceptibility of a common man without overdoing it either. Annu Kapoor, as the corrupt constable, dominates the bureaucratic escapades and is the scene-stealer.
Vijay Raaz is funny in his two-bit role. Satish Kaushik , as the plump papa, plays his part well.
Amit Mistry makes for a good villain. Shriya Saran looks beautiful.
Mughda Godse was absolutely avoidable. Veena Malik's item number is downright vulgar.
Despite a decent premise, this one falls short of being a fan-tastic film. Alas Gali Gali Bore Hai ! Verdict: Average
(less)Seven minutes of physical abuse in Bijuka
The scene is considered the highlight of the movie, as it is seven minutes long, believed to be one of the longest ever in Hindi cinema. The main idea behind the scene is to show the pain of a woman, who is forced to have a physical relationship with a man.
Inever thought I would do a rape scene, but it was very important to show the feelings of a girl. The director of the film said that I only had to show my face expressions and not body, says Arti.
Bijuka is about a girl whose marriage is not consummated and goes back home to her parents. In the past, Aishwarya had portrayed an almost similar character in Provoked, where Ash had played the character of a housewife, who was repeatedly assaulted by her husband

Naan Avan Illai was first made in Tamil in 1974 featuring Gemini Ganesan in the lead, and directed by K Balachander. The story was about a young man who entices five girls and later cheats them.
He keeps denying that he was the man they fell for. The film was remade by director Selva, in 2007 with Jeevan in the lead.
The sequel was made in 2009. "Neither producer Yash Chopra nor director Maneesh Sharma approached me before making their film," he added. The director says that although he saw the trailer of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl last month, he didn't want to comment anything before watching the film.
"Even now, I can't do much since my producer has to take some initiative in this case. However, I was shocked while watching the movie.
Only he has to decide how to go about it. In fact, we had plans to make the movie in Hindi as well by selecting the best parts from both the versions.

Kamal Haasan wants SRK for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu remake
R. Murugadoss's Ramanna .
Both offer the picky King Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before -- a south Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before. "While Murugadoss's film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4 and that too a plain-clothed cop.
SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do," said a source.
Haasan, who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in the original movie Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu , has expressed keen interest in Shah Rukh reprising the role in the film's Hindi version. "Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh.
They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji's Hey Ram free of cost. When director Gautham Menon, who understandably respects Kamalji's opinion, asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shah Rukh's name," said a source close to the project.
Menon confirmed his eagerness to cast Shah Rukh and said: "I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu are coming from. It's Shah Rukh Khan, who is the first and only choice.
Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shah Rukh seems the right candidate for the part.
" There is another reason why Salman was eliminated early from the race to play the cop in Menon's film. Salman has already done the khaki bit several times over.
"Shah Rukh in khaki is a novelty. Salman has been there and done it many times.
Shah Rukh is our man for the part," said the source. Apparently, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan's Talaash .
A source close to the project says that the only reason Shah Rukh has not given a final nod to Menon's remake is because he wants to see how Talaash is received by the audiences. Tweet
(less)Wolverine will be R-rated: Hugh Jackman
This means that those under 17 would require a parent or guardian to see it, reported Ace Showbiz. "James Mangold and I talked about an R-rated version and we're like, 'Look, let's not put it off the table.
' There's even talk about us doing two versions, as in finding a way to do both while you shoot it, which could be really cool. But you need to have a really good reason to exclude those fans," he said.
Jackman has previously hinted the movie, which saw Mangold replace Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky, who dropped out for personal reasons, would be more extreme than previous incarnations because the character allows that possibility. "There is such great temptation to make an R-rated Wolverine.
I've always felt that, I know a lot of fans would like that, and if there's ever gonna be a superhero that's gonna be R-rated it's Wolverine," he said. Jackman latest film Real Steel has topped the box office in the US.

Puri Jagannath had earlier decided to cast Bachchan Jr in the lead role of a gangster who treats his work like an organised business. However, now the filmmaker has decided to drop the idea of casting the actor altogether.
In fact, Puri, who had worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, has decided to replace Abhishek with Telugu star Mahesh Babu. Confirming the news, Puri said, "After looking at Abhishek's recent track record, we realised it won't be in favour of the film.
He doesn't have enough fire that the movie demands. I want to cast Mahesh Babu in the Hindi remake now.
Though Mahesh is not too fluent with Hindi, it shouldn't be a problem considering his increasing popularity." The filmmaker's decision comes in the wake of his contractual problems with AB Corp, the co-producer of Bbuddah.
..
. Mumbai Mirror on November 14, 2011, had reported how the co-producers had stopped answering Puri's calls regarding the delivery of his contract.
Though the documents were posted to the filmmaker a day after the news appeared, the entire episode left Puri with a bitter experience. "That was also another thing that put me off.
Though I am still a big fan of Mr Bachchan, the post-release experience was bad," added Puri. When contacted, Mahesh Babu's manager said, "Yes, we have discussed the Hindi remake with Puri.
But right now, we are focusing on the original version."
(less)Jha to direct Rangam remake
The producers of "Rangam" had sold the rights of the film to a Bollywood producer who has firmed the deal with the "Rajneeti" director. Confirms a source close to the development, "Yes, Prakash has signed on the dotted line and will remake "Ko".
He will also bring in the hero for the project. Prakash was mainly chosen because he is known as a filmmaker who deals with political subjects and the plot of the Tamil superhit starring Jiiva and Karthika suits his style perfectly.
" We also learn that the remake rights of "Ko" was among the highest paid to a Tamil film after " Ghajini ". The grapevine says that the amount is close to `1.
5 crore. Following the huge success of Southern remakes in Bollywood, top production houses have been competing heavily for bagging the remake rights of hit films
(less)It's destination Mumbai for Piaa Bajpai
The producers are not keen about revealing anything about the film until the formal announcement is made. I am keen on doing more Hindi films," said the actress.
Piaa had huge success in Tamil movie Ko opposite young hero Jiiva, but didn't do any Tamil film after that, but worked in Malayalam movie Masters . "After Ko , I wanted that my next film in Tamil should take me to the next level.

(less)Sonam Kapoor in Mani Ratnam’s next film
Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the actress has been approached by the filmmaker for his next Tamil project. Initially, Ratnam was to direct a Hindi film with Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , but since the couple recently became parents, the director had to put the project on the back burner.
Sonam's friend revealed to us that initially the actress was skeptical about working in a regional film. "Sonam's dad convinced her to do the film, since Anil himself had started his career with a Telugu film.
She will be required to learn enough of the language to understand her dialogue, however, her lines will ultimately be dubbed," explained Sonam's friend. Apparently, the romantic film is not only a first for Sonam.
Reportedly, the project will launch the career of Tamil actor Karthik's son Gautham. When we asked Sonam about her decision to star in a regional project, the actress said, "We (the Hindi film industry) are always remaking regional movies.
I would rather be a part of the original. I wouldn't like to comment on working with Mani sir.
But yes, I would love to do something amazing, after Players. However, nothing is confirmed yet.

(less)Bodyguard: Movie Review
To divert him from duty, Divya starts flirting with Lovely on phone posing as an anonymous caller. Until she expectedly falls in love with him! This love story clearly brings back memories of the Ghajini romance track with merely a gender-reversal.
Like Aamir Khan who never discloses his true identity to Asin in Ghajini , even Kareena Kapoor refrains from revealing to Salman that she's her secret caller. Where does Kuch Kuch Hota Hai come into picture, you ask? Well, while there isn't any love-triangle as such, there's an ailing mother on deathbed who writes personalized notes to her son, unveiling the entire narrative in flashback mode.
And like the daughter in K2H2 , the son of Bodyguard finds a substitute for mother through his biological mom's diary. What still works in the film's favour is that, unlike most overblown Salman Khan capers, Bodyguard doesn't go slapstick in humour, loud in attitude or crass in conduct.
Salman continues to be a glorified hero who does the customary topless act in the climax but, in the character of Lovely Singh, he is refreshingly restrained and comes across as down-to-earth guy (esp. after his regular recent ostentatious antics).
The story isn't much innovative but at least it stays true to its theme. Regardless of the title, theme or Salman's biceps, Bodyguard is more of a love story than an action film.
It remains lighthearted for its major runtime until when the villains suddenly surface in the climax. Unlike the Tamil or Malayalam versions, there isn't much buildup or back-story about the baddies in the Hindi Bodyguard and Salman makes mandatory mincemeat of them in a single action sequence.
Popular South filmmaker Siddique , who already directed the Malayalam and Tamil versions, seems at ease while making the film for the third time. He works more for a surprise element in the climax but it isn't something that you can't see coming.
And though the climax is predictably cliched, he doesn't leave much scope for melodrama. The pacing is quick, music is peppy, action is stylized and editing is crisp.
Karisma Kapoor's dubbing for Kareena's telephonic conversations seems seamless. Salman Khan is cool and convincing in the title role.
His subdued act and charming innocence wins your heart. Kareena Kapoor is likeable.
Hazel Keech as Kareena's friend is alluring. Rajat Rawail, as the bloated comedian, makes you laugh with his funny T-shirt captions and gibberish lines.
The graceful actress of yesteryear, Vidya Sinha, is criminally wasted. The villains from Aditya Pancholi to Mahesh Manjrekar have nothing much to do either.
Bodyguard doesn't catch you off guard. But it's a decent entertainer nonetheless
Tweet
(less)Bollywood is creatively satisfying: Bodyguard director
Here one can think big and execute it as well. There are no limitations.
It is a creatively satisfying place for any filmmaker," Siddique told IANS in an interview. "One does not need to worry about funds.
The bigger you imagine, the bigger your dreams are, the bigger a film can be," he said while praising Bollywood. Siddique has made Bodyguard , a remake of his own Malayalam film of the same name, in Hindi with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.
The film is releasing Aug 31. This is the third time he has directed the same script--the film was also made in Tamil as Kaavalan .
When asked about the difference in the treatment, he said: "Language dosen't really make much of a difference if the story line has meat in it. A few changes have been made keeping in mind Salman's fan following.
"I am very happy to enter Bollywood, that too with Salman Khan. I feel very lucky to have him in my first Bollywood project.
One does not need to give him briefing. He understands all the aspects of filmmaking.
" Siddique feels language is not a barrier while adapting a script, but it certainly posed problems for him when he had to interact with people while making the film. "It wasn't that easy for me to make a film here because I was out of my comfort zone and my working style.
I was also among new people. The most difficult part was that I didn't know the language and so it became a little difficult to make others understand with my 'tuta-futa' (broken) Hindi.
" "Salman and Kareena watched the other versions of the film. They understood the main plot of the characters.
They understood what I wanted from them. When we started shooting, I didn't have to explain much to them as they had the idea about what I expected from them in a particular scene," he said.
After starting his career in the early 1980s, Siddique made films in Tamil and Malayalam. Priyadarshan is known for adapting Siddique's films--he turned Ramji Rao Speaking (1989) into Hera Pheri (2000), Godfather (1991) into Hulchul (2004) and In Harihar Nagar (1990) into Dhol (2007).
But he has no qualms about it as he feels the "give and take" process between Bollywood and Southern filmdom is "bridging the gap between the two industries." "I had offers even before, but I didn't accept them at that time.
But I think it was wise of me because this is the right time for me to enter Bollywood," he said. Before foraying into Bollywood, Siddique saw over 60 Hindi films to understand how Bollywood movies are made.
Comparing the two industries, he said that the southern film industry is still in a developing stage. "It's not that there are any problems with the southern industry.
But it is still in its developing stage. We have great artists, good technicians, but the problem arises when it comes to funding," said Siddique.
"In South the movie market is growing. They are experimenting with story lines.
The difference in cinema of both the industries is basically of the language. Otherwise, Indian emotions are same all over the country.
Their understanding of a subject is more or less the same," he added. He also feels regional films are finally getting their due.
"Not only in their own country but even across the globe. Now, their reach is not limited.
They have set a mark in global market thanks to international festivals. Earlier the Kannada market was around Rs.
80 lakh to Rs.1crore.
But now it is around Rs.40 crore, alone," he said.
Though the director is smitten by Bollywood, there is one area that Siddique feels Bollywood needs to improve upon. "We (people down South) start work early.
Usually, we start our day at seven in the morning or maximum by nine. But here that is not the case.
The working hours are a little odd for us. It is my humble request that if the industry here inculcates the practice of starting early, the atmosphere would become perfect.
It will become more disciplined," he said. Tweet
(less)Shah Rukh Khan to play a cop again
murugadoss SHARE AND DISCUSS Tweet Shah Rukh Khan More Pics If Kamal Haasan had his way, superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be the only actor to step into his shoes for the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's Tamil film " Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu ". Shah Rukh is currently in a dilemma as he has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil films - "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu" and A.
R. Murugadoss's " Ramanna ".
Both offer the picky King Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before a south Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before. "While Murugadoss's film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's 'One 2 Ka 4' and that too a plain-clothed cop.
SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu' will let him do," said a source.
Haasan, who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in the original movie "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu", has expressed keen interest in Shah Rukh reprising the role in the film's Hindi version. "Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh.
They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji's 'Hey Ram' free of cost. When director Gautham Menon , who understandably respects Kamalji's opinion, asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shah Rukh's name," said a source close to the project.
Menon confirmed his eagerness to cast Shah Rukh and said: "I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu' are coming from.
Apparently, "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu" will explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan's " Talaash ".
A source close to the project says that the only reason Shah Rukh has not given a final nod to Menon's remake is because he wants to see how "Talaash" is received by the audiences

Tweet
(less)Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns 38 today
..
like she always does," a source close to the actress said. There is a buzz that the Bachchan family is planning a grand party this evening, where besides, family members, several B-town personalities would be coming.
Recently, the Bachchans hosted a grand 'godh bharai' ceremony for Aishwarya, where several actresses came in to shower their blessings. In June this year, Aishwarya's father-in-law and superstar Amitabh Bachchan, had announced, through micro blogging site twitter, that she is expecting a child.
It was reported that the baby is due in November. Aishwarya was to play the leading lady in Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming project 'Heroine'.
However, the film was put on hold and later it was revealed that Kareena Kapoor will play the character instead. Having started her career as a model, Aishwarya went on to win the 1994 Miss World pageant and then turned to Bollywood for a career in acting.
The actress had made a debut in Mani Ratnam's Tamil film 'Iruvar' in 1997 and had her first commercial success with the Tamil movie - 'Jeans'(1998). In 1997, she entered Bollywood through Rahul Rawail's film 'Aur Pyar Ho Gaya'.
Though the film failed at the box office, Aishwarya bagged the 'Star Screen' award for the Most Promising Newcomer. She gained attention in Bollywood through Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999), for which, she won the Filmfare Best Actress award.
She was last seen in Bhansali's 'Guzaarish' (2010) opposite Hrithik Roshan. Though, was not a hit at the box office, it was critically acclaimed and won awards and nominations at several award ceremonies

(less)Shah Rukh Khan in a South film remake?
Interestingly, word is that several prominent producers were vying for the Bollywood rights of the film, especially now when anti-corruption statements have acquired a profound relevance, thanks to Anna Hazare.
