Azim looks up to Salman, SRK and Aamir Khan
To make his character in "Qasam Se Qasam Se" appear realistic, Azim frequented call centre offices to absorb the finer nuances of the people working there. "It was quite a relevation for me as an actor.
I witnessed not only people's mannerisms but also the activities they indulge in during the break hour. Looking into the mirror, some guys would be busy ruffling their hair and taking care of their looks, while some would busy binging.
And there would others catching up with family and friends over their cell phones. This has helped shaped my character in the film.
" Azim feels that all our veteran actors were keen observers and would translate that on screen. "Whether it were the legendary actors like Dilip Kumar or the late Raj Kapoor or Dev Anand , they were schools in themselves.
I am a great fan of Salman Khan , Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and look at them as a student who looks upon his guru. I am mastering the art of acting watching their films," he smiles

(less)I never thought I'd be a desirable woman: Sameera Reddy
"My name in the list means a lot to me. As as a young girl, I never thought even in my wildest dreams that I would become a desirable woman.
I yearned for a perfect body as I was ugly duckling in school. But now that I have entered films, I believe that beauty is hidden in the imperfections of people and it all depends on how you use them.
That's my definition of desirable and I am glad to have made it to the list," says Sameera. The actor is basking in the success of her last Tamil release opposite Madhavan and has Padma Shri Priyadarshan's Tezz to look forward to.
Sameera has now decided that she will do a mix of performance-oriented and glamorous characters on screen, something that Simran and Jyothika did in Kollywood. So is the report true that Sameera wants to become the next Simran and Jyothika? "You cannot become another person.

(less)Sherlyn Chopra likes being unconventional
Be it politics, cinema, sports, business or any other arena, women across the globe including India are in great form mentally, physically and consciously to undertake greater responsibilities and tougher challenges that are often encountered on paths less travelled." Sherlyn is also happy that she has gone from being just a pin-up girl to an entrepreneur.
Says she, "The rapid metamorphosis in my case would not have been possible had the mindsets of the majority of the people in the Hindi film industry continued to be goverened by prejudices. I look upto entrepreneurs who command respect and attention for daring to think out of the box and act accordingly.
They do not have a herd mentality. What they have is unadulterated creativity which is set on fire by courage.
" Naming films like " The Dirty Picture ", " Erin Brokovich ", " No One Killed Jessica "," The Black Swan " as cinema that has changed the way we think, Sherlyn says, "Unconventionality is no longer a taboo. It is being applauded and celebrated by both the classes and the masses.
The pulse of the youth is racing towards liberalisation. And I'm truly loving it.
" Asked why she decided to give us photographs that resembled those of the " Jism 2 " campaign, the actor quips, "I have pushed the envelope by choosing to cover my nakedness with nothing but pure consciousness."

(less)Flash mob greets Imran at New York University
"I had a blast at NYU. Everyone was so enthusiastic, they put on a very polished, confident show, and the surprise flash mob at the end was perfectly executed.
My best wishes to all the students involved," Imran said in a statement. The students had been practising for the performance for over two weeks, ahead of Imran's visit to New York as part of the promotional tour.
"As the president of NYU Dillagi, a Bollywood dance team, I knew we had to have simpler steps that the general public would be able to do and we sent videos out to the public. I thought that the flash mob came out even better than expected since people kept joining the mob throughout the sequence and it definitely surprised those that did not know of it ahead of time," Mohit Chhatpar, coordinator of the flash mob, said.
"It was really fun to be doing a flash mob and having Imran among us was all the more fun. He was very sporting and interacted with the students.
We are excited about this movie as well and are glad he could come and be among us to talk about his movie," he added. The Dharma Productions' film, also starring Kareena Kapoor, is set to hit theatres Feb 10.

(less)Anant Mahadevan to turn TV show Ghar Jamai into film
Today, the best way to go on a pan-India audience is by getting South and North India audience together. Casting North Indian as a North Indian and a South Indian as a South Indian would really hit the audience of both the region effectively," Anant Mahadevan told IANS.
The television series was first showed on Doordarshan where Mahadevan played South Indian son-in-law and Satish Shah his North Indian father-in-law. Later in 1997, it was aired on Zee TV and this time Mahadevan directed the series, while Madhavan played the North Indian-son-in Law and Satish Shah repeated his role.
"The series became very, very popular in both the seasons. It was more of a comedy of manners and wits than a farcical comedy.
We always thought that it has the scope of a regular feature film but we did not attempt to do it," said Mahadevan, whose last directorial venture was film Red Alert: The War Within . In the film, Madhavan will reprise the title role.
"Madhavan will play the protagonist. But we have to decide on the rest of the cast.
That would not be the same as the television series at all," said Mahadevan. However, it would strictly have a fresh plot at the unique backdrop with new set of star cast unlike the other television series like Khichdi and Office Office , which were turned into the film recently, said Mahadevan.
"To do a comedy of a South Indian boy in a North Indian household is like a cat and mouse or Tom and Jerry type of game that takes place between the father-in-law and the son-in-law. I would be very careful not to fall into the pitch that other television serials have done.
"I don't want to name them but there have been two or three films that have been made on popular television serials and they fell flat on their face because they made it like television show repeating the same cast, same situations. Why would one spend Rs.
300 to watch what they can get on television," said Mahadevan. He says he will adopt American way of adapting comic books into film or adapting series like The Odd Couple or Sex and the City .
"I will make sure that this film is a film and not a television series on the big screen," said Mahadevan adding that the project will go on floor next year. "This is a project for not immediate filming.
We would start filming probably by spring 2012. Just now we are in the preliminaries and discussing how to put together the project.
We would shoot it in Toronto and India," he said. Tweet

Daniel, who started playing the schoolboy wizard when he was just 11, said: "Sometimes I really feel like I'm getting the hang of it, because I never really had a process. My process was mainly that I hit my marks and I said my lines.
So I'm kind of trying to find a process that allows me to find a sure fire way into a character, if it doesn't come easily". "I'm working on that.
And there are some days when I feel like, 'Yeah, God, I'm actually learning something, this is great!' And there are some days when I go, 'Oh God, I'm never going to feel good at this. I'm never going to feel like I'm not a fraud.
' " However, the British star admits he gets "fired" up by those who think he will not be able to be a success following on from playing Harry. In an interview with the new issue of Empire magazine, the 22-year-old actor said: "I'm very motivated by the doubts of others.

(less)Ashton Kutcher makes his big "Men" debut
Jones playing Cryer's son. Series creator Chuck Lorre seemed to get revenge for Sheen's spectacular, insult-spewing exit last spring with a series of insults.
Monday's premiere picked up at the funeral for now-deceased Charlie Harper (Sheen), who we learn was hit by a subway train and "exploded like a balloon full of meat," according to the possibly psychotic woman he'd run off with in the middle of season eight. Kutcher plays Internet billionaire Walden Schmidt, who appeared at the doorway of Harper's old home wet from a suicide attempt in the ocean.
It seems Schmidt may be tall, good looking and rich, but he's morose about a lost love. Cryer's character, Alan Harper, takes Schmidt out for a drink, where Schmidt meets two women and brings them home to Harper's home.
"I dig your house," he said. "I'm going to buy it.

We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television." Sheen posted another pic with Ashton and tweeted: "Seriously.

(less)I wasn't allowed to make series on Tagore: Gulzar
I wanted to make a TV series on Rabindranath Tagore, and I had even readied hours' long series, but I wasn't given the clearance. The powers that be can't ask bribe from people like me or Shyam Benegal, but they make sure that our work is not done! And I have also decided that I would never pay bribe even if my work suffers! When I was denied the TV series, I started translating Tagore.
" Ask him if there is any respite for the common man from this lethal malaise called corruption, and Gulzar says: "You can't go on cheating people forever! The dialysis and the cleansing of the system has to happen! And for that, people have to learn to say no! This will not happen overnight! After all, cleansing is an ongoing process! Whenever I get a chance, I raise my voice against corruption. Whether it is HuTuTu, a film hitting out at the political corruption or my songs like Aam Aadmi and Dhadak Dhadak in the latest release Chala Musaddi Office Office, I have always hit at the corrupt system.
Even my song Thok De Killi was aimed at fighting the societal injustice. The people's movement against the system is only a reflection of their mood.
Despite all the upheaval and negativity, I feel the history and tradition of our democracy is strong enough to emerge victorious, come what may!"

"I'm a bad dancer, like a damaged white boy. It's scary because if I dance it's almost like a telethon where you need to have the number at the bottom for people to ring and it says, 'Please help, send your dollars to help this young man learn to dance'," he added.

(less)Zac Efron wants a role in Glee
After working with Glee actress Lea Michele on the set of their upcoming film New Year's Eve , he's eager for another chance to star alongside the beauty on her hit TV series and he's hoping executives will cast him as a blood thirsty criminal. "I'm a huge fan of Glee and a huge fan of Lea Michele's work.
It looks so fun. I would love to (be on it).
Have they had a serial killer yet? It'd be fun to sing about," he said. The popular high school musical show has already featured a number of guest stars during its three-year run - among them Gwyneth Paltrow, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth.

(less)Agneepath satellite rights sell for 41 crore
It also overtakes what Star Network paid for this year's big Diwali release, RA.One , trade sources said.
Jayantilal Gada, CMD, Pen India Pvt Ltd, the agency that aids the purchase of films for Zee Cinema, justifies the hefty price tag, saying that channels study the production banner's track record on the small screen before pitching to buy the satellite rights. "We chose to buy Agneepath over several other biggies because Karan's (producer Karan Johar of Dharma Productions) movies have always delivered great numbers.
And the promo of this film showed promise," he said. Without commenting on the figures, trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "There are only a handful of leading satellite channels in the market.
Likewise, there are only four or five really bankable stars, and not more than 10 big films a year. Zee has shelled out the money for Agneepath to break the pattern of Karan's films going to either Star or Sony, and to strengthen their market position.
" According to the trade circuit, the TV satellite rights market has grown more than 10 times in the last decade alone. "Big flicks bring channels high TRPs and bumper ad revenue.
And no channel keeps a film to itself. Syndication is a common practice, and it also helps recover costs, that otherwise wouldn't make economical sense," Amod said, recalling that the 2007 hit, 'Jab We Met', was the first film in recent times to be syndicated to different channels.

(less)My son has made 5 films: Vishal Bharadwaj
" So touched was he by the children's passion for cinema that he could not stop raving about them. "They are so knowledgeable.
I don't think I knew as much when I was their age. That's the advantage today's generation has, you know.
The Internet and other technological advancements has opened a wide world to them. They are exposed to so much and they are very quick to learn too.
I am really glad that kids as young as a 12 years old are attempting to make a film these days. It is truly laudable.
Even my son has already made five films and he is just 16," says a proud Vishal. From " Makdee ", "Maqbool", "Omkara", to " Kaminey " and " 7 Khoon Maaf ", Vishal has always been a hatke director when it comes to choosing his subjects.
"I choose whatever I find interest in. I feel if it interests me, I will present it in a way that it will interest the audience also.
" Ask him what went wrong with "7 Khoon Maaf" then and he is quick to say, "It is a dark film and I think it didn't touch the chord with the viewers. I definitely believed in it and that's why I made it.
But somewhere people couldn't relate to Priyanka. I mean I thought after two killings, audience will understand that she (Priyanka) has become a serial killer but they didn't.
That, I guess, went wrong." So, after "7 Khoon Maaf", does he have any apprehensions about "Dayaan", a supernatural film.
"I am producing it. And, no, I don't really have apprehension because the concept of witches did exist in our society.
Moreover, people will get to see a real dayaan, and not like what Shabana Azmi played in "Makdee". Next, I want to make a science fiction.
" One of the first projects that brought Vishal to limelight was TV serial "Jungle Book", but the small screen isn't something that Vishal wants to get back to. "Yes, I did start with "Jungle Book" on TV, but budget is a problem with the small screen.
It is too low. So, I am not looking at TV.

"This is extraordinary! I'm stunned that she has time in her schedule that she's coming to our studio to record. She's playing herself, and the writers describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world.

"I make music, but I don't do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humour. That's what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.
"I would say this is one of the coolest things I've ever done. My dad's probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out," Gaga's guest appearance in the episode 'Lisa Goes Gaga' will air next spring.

(less)Junglee actress is upset with the makers of Rockstar
In fact, the actress is now filing a complaint against the makers of Rockstar for tarnishing her reputation. The film that Ranbir and Nargis watch in 'Amar Talkies' in Rockstar is actually a film titled Jungle Love starring Ashika.
"Ashika has become the butt of all jokes in her friend circle. Her phone hasn't stopped ringing ever since Rockstar released.
People have been asking her all sort of lewd questions," revealed a source. Angry at the filmmakers for projecting her film as a semi-porn venture, she even approached the makers of Jungle Love, Suresh Jain.
"Ashika called up Suresh. He simply told her that since he reserves the rights of the film, he can give it to anyone he wants.
He did not see Ashika's perspective. All said and done, it's very unfair," added the source.
When contacted, Ashika said, "This is not fair. Jungle Love was not a sleazy film.
It is very embarrassing that the makers of such a big film like Rockstar has stooped so low. Such tactics should be condemned.
" Angry with the filmmakers for tarnishing her image, Ashika has now decided to file a complaint against them. "I am filing a complaint in CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) against Imtiaz Ali, Ashtavinayak - the producer of Rockstar and the producer of Jungle Love Suresh Jain.
" "Trust me. I am very disturbed.
People are laughing at me. Either Imtiaz or Ashtavinayak or Jain should have informed me that they were using my clip in their film.
Bataya bhi nahin," added an extremely disturbed Ashika. She added, "Tell me, if the film that Ranbir and Nargis head for in the film is actually not supposed to be portrayed as sleazy, why would Nargis dress up as a male when she heads to the theatre with Ranbir?" When reminded about her kissing and lovemaking scenes in a film titled Hot Malaika that released in 2005, Ashika shot back, "So? Two wrongs don't make a right do they?" To get the producer's version on the same, we called up Suresh Jain.
His wife Waheeda Jain answered and said, "Listen. I am aware that Ashika is disturbed.
And yes, we had given the permission for the particular scene to be used in Rockstar. But I really don't understand how her image has been damaged.
" "Rockstar is a huge film, not a sleazy C-grade project. And yes, Jungle Love had a few romantic scenes.
Romance ke bina picture banti hai kya aajkal? And by the way, Ashika had given us a letter when she shot for Jungle Love that she would have no problem if we gave out some of her scenes to anybody in future," she added. To this, Ashika shot back, "I have not given any letter like that to anyone.
" Imtiaz Ali and Ashtavinayak remained unavailable for comment

(less)Comic book on movies comes to India with Don: The Origin
The bilingual graphic books coinciding with the release of Don 2 -- a dark crime thriller with Shah Rukh as the anti-hero -- was unveiled by the cast and crew of the movie in the capital this week. "A lot of people like reading comics during short breaks and in their cars.
This ( Don: The Origin ) is the first one in a series of comics that will narrate the making of popular and new movies. We will extend the series," Ajay Mago, the publisher of Om Books, told IANS.
"The graphic books were Farhan's idea and he approached us with it, followed by the Excel (Excel Entertainment) guys later. We had earlier published Shah Rukh's biography," Mago said.
The publisher said he was in touch with various filmmakers for more "film-related graphic novel projects". The slim volume begins with the origin of Don in present-day Sicily.
Don's "mentor" tries to blow up his car - but Don survives and returns to gun down his mentor..
. and don his boots.
It is the beginning of Don's journey into the heart of the underworld. For Farhan, who has loved comic books all his life, "it is a dream come true".
"..
. To think that a character that I have loved so much has been made into a comic," he said.
Mago said he was inspired to create the series by the comic books about the making of Mission: Impossible in the US and on the movie Inception (in 2010). As a prequel to the movie Inception , Warner Bros released a 35-page comic book, Inception: The Cobol Job , about the movie by Jordan Goldberg.
"We had brought 60 copies of the Mission: Impossible book - an animation series about the day-to-day shoot of the movie - and they were sold out in three days," Mago said. The Mission: Impossible graphic novel generated readers' interest in India because of the movie Mission Impossible 4 starring Tom Cruise which was released recently, the publisher of Om Books said.
In 1996, Paramount Comics, a former comic book imprint of Marvel Comics, bagged the rights to publish comic books on Mission: Impossible and Star Trek . Paramount Comics published a prequel to the first Mission: Impossible movie.
It was the second comic book version of the Mission: Impossible . The first comic book series in five volumes based on the original American television series Mission: Impossible , starring Peter Graves in the 1960s, was published by Dell Books.
A pitch made for a comic book on Sholay failed to take off this year while Satyajit Ray's Feluda detective novels - which were adapted into movies - were made into a series of graphic novels by Penguin India in the last two years. "In the US, the movie comic book is very common," Mago said.
On the other hand, the list of movies inspired by popular comic book is long. They include iconic superheroes like Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Dracula, X-Men and more recently, the animation movie, Tintin and the Secrets of the Unicorn by Steven Spielberg Bhandarkar had begun shooting with Ash, but the project was put on hold when the actress' pregnancy was announced.
Later, several rumours about the replacement made their way. However, Kareena was zeroed in on as the final choice.

" At the Emmys on Sunday night, troubled star Charlie Sheen shocked many. He had nothing but words of support for his former Two and a Half Men colleagues.
It began backstage, where the actor who was fired from TV's hit sitcom, tweeted a picture with Ashton Kutcher who will play an Internet billionaire with a broken heart named Walden Schmidt as he joins the cast this season. Sheen tweeted: Giving the new kid a little advice.
.! With @aplusk backstage at the Emmy's.
..
On stage, before his presentation for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Sheen said: "I want to take a moment to get something off my chest and say a few words to everybody here from Two and a Half Men . From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season.
We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television." Sheen posted another pic with Ashton and tweeted: "Seriously.
..
@aplusk great talking to you! We'll all be watching! Make us proud!!" Acknowledging Sheen's tweets, Kutcher tweeted: "@charliesheen good to meet you too. Wishing you the best on your new gig.
" That done, he tweeted on the much-awaited premiere: "2.5 men airs tonight!!! I'm really excited for you all to see what we've been working on.
" Meanwhile, when asked by television show host Matt Lauer whether he was open to a cameo on the show, Sheen said, "Absolutely. If they wanted or needed it or thought that was a good idea, I'd be completely on board for that.
There's your closer. I'll be in the final episode," he said.

Tweet
(less)Filmmaking is not a business: Abhinay Deo
In fact, the filmmaker has turned down offers from at least three leading producers in the Hindi cinema industry. Confirming that a lot of films have indeed come his way after the successful Delhi Belly, Abhinay said, "Big offers are not something that you want to say 'no' to.
However, the script is also important. If a film doesn't work, people will blame the director for taking up the project.
" Also, Abhinay revealed that he isn't one to work on numbers. "I believe in what Aamir had once told me: Filmmaking is not a business.
A good script is very important," added the director. Talking about his Best debutant award victory at Filmfare on January 29, Abhinay added, "30th of January is my father's birthday.
In my family, we make it a point of calling the birthday boy or girl at 12 o' clock sharp. And believe it or not, my award was announced at 12 o'clock sharp.
At the time, I was talking to my father over the phone. It was the best moment of my life.
" Needless to say, the filmmaker after winning the award is looking forward to keep up with his last success. And thus, Abhinay is leaving no stone unturned to make Anil Kapoor's Indian 24 a success.
"The venture is still at a nascent stage. Anilji has just acquired the rights.
Work on it is still going on," revealed the filmmaker. Though the project is yet to take off, Abhinay is ready to take on the challenge to recreate the popular American TV series for the Indian audience.
"As a filmmaker, making 24 for India is a challenge. But then again, there nothing that Hollywood can and we can't.
The way 24 was accepted in the country reaffirms the fact that the series can indeed be recreated for the Indian audience." "The television industry has still not entered the zone where the audience would accept Hollywood storylines as is.
It has to be Indianised. The tastes and sentiments of the Indian audience have to be kept mind while recreating 24," added the filmmaker

The producers are planning to feature around 12 of the singer's songs and are fast-tracking the writing of the script, with the first half set to be filmed before Christmas.
The second half will be completed when the actors return in early January before airing later that month. Insiders say Jackson's family have given their enthusiastic support for the project and hope that it will return the focus to his music rather than his controversial death in June 2009.
And it seems the 'Glee' cast, which includes Lea Michele, are excited about the episode. Show creator Ryan Murphy says the stars are flooding him with requests to sing their favourite Jackson numbers.
