(less)Atul Agnihotri's next home production without Salman
The film did not enjoy a good run at the box office. Undeterred by this, he directed and even turned producer with Hello (2008), a film based on the novel 'One Night at a Call Centre', in which Salman had a cameo role.
Atul returned to production with Salman-Kareena Kapoor starrer action-romantic film Bodyguard (2011), which was a huge hit at the box office. Now he is set for his next home production without the Dabangg star.
"We have identified something. We have finalised the script, director and locations.
We are trying to get the cast in place. We are in the process of putting together the cast and crew.
We can't make any statements until and unless everything is finalised," producer-director, Atul Agnihotri told PTI. "We can't talk about the star cast, as we are in the process of finalising things.
In two months time, everything should be in place. Then we will make an announcement," he said.
Right from his first film, Salman has been a common factor but not this time. "It (film) is without Salman Khan.
We do not have any appearance or anything of such sort, where Salman would be there. Salman is our lucky mascot.
He supports all of us. He is always there for the family," Atul said
(less)Priyanka not yet confirmed for 'Zanjeer' remake: Apoorva Lakhia
"Priyanka Chopra is not yet confirmed. We have not yet decided on that.
However, we are starting the film's shoot from May 13. The scenes of the lead actor will be shot," Lakhia, who will direct the project, told.
The lead hero in the remake will be essayed by southern superstar Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja, who will step into the shoes of Amitabh for the remake. While rumours are rife that Amitabh will be seen in a cameo in the remake, Lakhia says he hasn't approached the megastar yet.
However, he will do that soon. "I have not approached Mr.
Bachchan yet. But I will soon approach him.
It would be great if he could show his presence in the film," said Lakhia, who has worked with Big B in films like "Shootout At Lokhandwala", "Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost" and "Ek Ajnabee". He considers it is "duty" to approach Big B for the "Zanjeer" remake, but says it is upto the veteran to agree to the project or not.
"I would approach him for all obvious reasons. Who does not want to cast Mr.
Bachchan in their film," said Lakhia. The original "Zanjeer", also featured Jaya Bhaduri and Pran in key roles.
It played a vital role in shaping Amitabh's career by not just catapulting him to fame, but also by giving him the title of "angry young man" at that time. The remake of "Zanjeer" is being produced by first-timer Amit Mehra
(less)Now a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 'Zanjeer'
The filmmaker was here to play for Sohail Khan's Mumbai Heroes. The filmmaker has roped in Southern superstar Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja , who will step into the shoes of Amitabh for the remake.
Ram Charan is already an icon for Southern fans. His film " Magadheera " has become one of the biggest hits of all times in the Telugu industry The 1973 classic, also starred Jaya Bhaduri and Pran, played a pivotal role in Amitabh's career.
This film not only catapulted him to fame, it also gave Amitabh the title of "angry young man" at that time
(less)Will Priyanka play Jaya Bachchan’s role in Zanjeer?
Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer remake is touted to be one of the bigger budget films of the year. It stars southern actor Ram Charan Teja as the 'angry young man', a memorable role essayed by Amitabh Bachchan in the original.
There's no doubt then that Apporva is looking for an equally established actress to play Jaya Bachhcan's role. Reportedly, Deepika was approached for the film but the actress refused it by citing date issues.
it looks like Deepika's loss may now be Priyanka's gain. Ram Charan has a grand fan following in the South but is new in Bollywood , and his first Hindi film needs a big bankable actress who can draw in the audience.
Though Priyanka hasn't yet given her nod the makers are quite positive about her inclusion in the cast. Zanjeer will be made in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously

(less)IPL will not affect my movies' BO fate: Paoli
Paoli Dam is among them and going by the words of the actor, she believes that her films have enough steam in them to be affected by the IPL hype. Says Paoli, "Two of my movies - Vivek Agnihotri's "Hate Story" and Bappaditya Bandopadhyay's "Elar Char Adhyay" - are releasing during the IPL season.
Cricket is no threat to film viewership and I am not tense because of the release timing of my movies. Cricket happens round the year and if people want to watch these movies, they will go to the theatres irrespective of whether there is a match or not.
" Meanwhile, Bappaditya says, "Usually the big banners avoid releasing their films during the IPL and that can sometimes be an opportunity for others to get a good release for their movies. Prime shows at multiplexes and prime theatres are available even for small and content-driven movies during the IPL season.
Other than this time of the year, cinema has to compete with one event or the other."
(less)Amitabh Bachchan to do a cameo in Zanjeer remake
In a departure from the norm, Apoorva Lakhia , director of the remake of Zanjeer, has sought the Bachchans complete consent before embarking on his ambitious project. Going a step further, Lakhia even offered the lead to Abhishek before any other actor.
According to a source close to the film, Abhishek declined saying he wouldn't want to put himself in direct comparison with his father by doing any of his films. That's when the director, along with producer Amit Mehra, son of late Prakash Mehra who produced and directed the original Zanjeer, decided to explore other opportunities.
A source close to the project told Mirror, "Apu and Junior (that's what Lakhia calls Abhishek), go back a long way. From the time Apu made his first film Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, either Abhishek or his father or both have featured in all his films.
Apu couldn't dream of doing Zanjeer with any other actor except Abhishek. So the first thing he did when he decided to remake Zanjeer was to drive down to the Bachchan residence and offer Inspector Vijay's role to Abhishek.
" With Abhishek refusing to play the part, Lakhia, for whom the project would be incomplete without Big B's presence, finally managed to get Bachchan Sr to do a cameo in his film. Asked for further details, he simply said, "Right now, it's really too early to talk about the extent of Mr Bachchan's participation in Zanjeer.
But yes, I can't dream of remaking Zanjeer without Mr Bachchan, Jayaji and Abhishek's participation. The project has their blessing and support.
Beyond that, it's too early to say anything." Meanwhile, a reliable source revealed that Big B would soon be meeting the leading man of the new Zanjeer aka Telugu star Ram Charan Teja, with the latter having expressed a keen desire to seek the original Vijay's blessings and advice.
Lakhia has even written a scene where the new and old Vijay come together. That's something to look forward to

The movie, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, features Nikhil Dwivedi, Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiya. Bengali actress Paoli is known to have done one of the boldest scenes in Bengali cinema in "Chatrak".
