On Twitter, Ayesha Takia vs Sid Mallya
Then last evening, actress Ayesha Takia and Kingfisher heir Sidhartha Mallya fought The Great Twitter war. Ms Takia tweeted a series of complaints alleging that her sister had been mistreated by the staff of Kingfisher Airlines.
Mr Mallya responded by asking her to "pipe down, love." Not exactly great customer service, though his airline's official twitter account was far more obliging.
Ayesha's tweets, heavy on exclamation marks began with: Followers of the actress promptly weighed in with messages of support, condemning Kingfisher and urging Ayesha to file a complaint, to which she responded with: We r goin 2 take serious action against this and go 2 court with it,let the law handle it,so that this dosent happen 2 any girl again! In the wake of all this angst on Twitter, Kingfisher scion Sidharth Mallya aimed a few well chosen words of his own: And then signed off with: Leaving Ayesha Takia fuming with tweets like: It was left to Ayesha's father to step in and explain, on Twitter, what had really happened to his other daughter. His tweet reads: Ayesha's sister, Natasha Takia, was booked onto a Kingfisher flight from Kathmandu to New Delhi, from where she would take a connecting flight to Mumbai.
Kingfisher cancelled the flight from Kathmandu and booked her onto an Air India flight which arrived late in Delhi. As a result, Natasha missed her connection to Mumbai.
Kingfisher denied that their staff even handed Natasha a boarding pass, leave alone tear it up, as she was wait listed. While Ayesha Takia and Sidhartha Mallya traded insults, Kingfisher's official Twitter account made amends, apologizing to Natasha Takia for inconvenience caused: While being careful to explain they were not to blame: Their parting shot: The war of tweets comes to a graceful end with Vijay Mallya's tweet: "My personal apologies 2 Natasha Ayesha Takia's sister if she was disappointed with our service.
Will have her allegations fully investigated". Ayesha was quick to reciprocate, accepting the olive branch: "I just read the tweet from Mr.
vijay mallya..
,I appreciate the response and hope the matter is seriously looked into and dealt with." Tweet
(less)Ayesha Takia alleges "misbehaviour" by Kingfisher Airlines staff
We are going to take serious action against this and go to court with it, let the law handle it, so that this does not happen to any girl again (sic)," she tweeted. "Is this how a girl alone at an airport gets treated by the staff of the airline she is flying.
She is unwell and has a horrible backache, can't believe this happened to her right now. My heart is beating so fast with anger that a girl at an airport gets treated this way by airport staff! He is at the kingfisher counter (sic)," she said.
Ayesha, who was paired opposite Salman Khan in Bollywood flick Wanted, said a staffer of airline tore the boarding pass of her younger sibling at the airport. Ayesha's tweets however, gave no reason on what led to the incident.
Responding to Ayesha's tweet, Sidhartha Mallya, son of Chairman of Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya raised doubts over the actress' claim. "Been getting tweets about Ayesha Takia & KFA.
Not too sure who she is, an actor of some sorts?? But it seems something has upset her," Sidhartha Mallya tweeted. "Don't know why Ayesha Takia is tweeting so much when she wasn't even present.
There are always two sides to a story. Pipe down love," he said.
In an official response, Kingfisher has denied any such misbehaviour by their staff member. "This guest was booked to travel with Kingfisher Airlines from New Delhi to Mumbai and we understand that she arrived into New Delhi on the flight of another airline which reportedly landed late.
As a result of this, the guest missed her connecting flight to Mumbai. As soon as she produced a confirmation from the airline on which she arrived certifying that their flight arrived late, our staff offered her a wait-listed option on our next available flight as our next flight was running full.
We categorically deny that any of our staff misbehaved with this valued guest. We also deny that any of our staff tore her boarding card as alleged.
The boarding card had in fact not even been handed over to the guest as she was waitlisted. We regret any inconvenience that may have been caused to the guest on account of her missing her connecting flight.

Ayesha Takia was quick to accept the olive branch. Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap, now in Berlin to attend the Berlin Film Festival says he will remember that for those in the public eye, tweets can end up as "news".

(less)Abhishek miffed with domestic airline
Despite being issued a boarding pass, Junior B was not allowed to board a Jet Airways flight. The reason given was that he had come late! Consequently, he opted to fly by another airline to Jaipur where his shoot for Bol Bachchan with Ajay Devgn, Asin and Prachi Desai was delayed by three hours.
The actor sounded upset with the experience as he tweeted: "Jet Airways, you just lost one of your most loyal customers." It is learnt that the actor was taking the 5.
50 am Jet Airways flight to the Rajasthan capital. However, when he went to board the aircraft he was stopped for coming late.
A well-placed source from the sets of the Rohit Shetty film maintains that the actor had reached the airport in time. "In fact, Abhishek had even been given the boarding pass at the check-in counter.
And strangely his luggage wasn't loaded either even though he had asked for it to be checked in," explains our informer, adding that it was the fault of the airline representative at the check-in counter. "It seems that she didn't inform her colleagues at the last counter before boarding the flight.
Even after Abhishek wasn't allowed to get onto the aircraft, she could have intervened because she had issued the boarding pass. But it looks like she didn't care much and didn't take the initiative of attending to a passenger despite no fault of his," he added.
Displeased with the turn of events, Bachchan booked a ticket on an Air India flight that was departing for Jaipur at 8.40 am.
The spokesperson of Jet Airways stated, "We were awaiting the guest's arrival for the early morning Jaipur flight. However, due to boarding gate closure procedures for all airlines to depart on time, the guest could not be accommodated on this flight.
The guest was looked after at the lounge and an alternate flight was offered. Inconvenience caused to the guest is regretted.

(less)I took a break to plan my future: Ayesha Takia
Salman-starrer super-hit Wanted in 2009 was her last release. "I had been working for so many years before Wanted , which did really well at the box office and I am thankful for that.
I really took time to understand about the restaurant business," Ayesha said while unveiling of first look of Mod on Tuesday. "I took the break because I really needed to look at the things from an outsider's perspective.
As an actor, it helped me a lot," the Dor actress said. Her love for acting inspired her to make a come-back, she added.
"For me, it's really about the craft and I enjoy it thoroughly. So, if I don't sign anything that genuinely excites me, I lose interest right there.
I was fortunate that Nagesh came to me with Mod ," said Ayesha, who made her debut as an actress with Taarzan: The Wonder Car in 2004. The 25-year-old, who earned critical acclaim for her performance in Kukunoor's Dor , is all praise for the director for extracting the best out of her.
"Nagesh is one who truly brings out the best in me. He taught me my true potential as an actor.
I am fortunate to get a chance to work with Nagesh, who gives me role any girl would die for. After Dor , I didn't think it was possible to do such a role again, but Mod is the best film for me to do after a long wait," said Ayesha.
Set in a small hill station, Mod is a love story about two different people. In the film, she has been paired with MTV VJ Rannvijay.
Ayesha is in awe of the character she essays in the film. "The character I play is amazing.
She is matured, independent and totally opposite me. I am amazing (laughs) but not that independent.
She manages her life. She has this clock store and earns her living.
She meets Raanvijay and falls in love with him." "She is unlike the character I have ever played before.
When you do a Nagesh film, you really go into that detail about the character, her mind and her life. So, the character is amazing and I would miss her forever," she said.
Releasing September 30, the film also stars actor Raghuvir Yadav and Tanvi Azmi in pivotal roles. Tweet
(less)Ayesha Takia refuses to fly economy
Ayesha Takia, apparently, is not one of those who'll compromise on her career perks. She refused to board a flight to Delhi when she learnt she was being 'downgraded', forcing producers of her forthcoming film Mod to cancel the promotional event to be held in the capital.
A source explains, "Unfortunately, the sponsor for the event backed out. But as the publicity was done, the producers decided to go ahead.
They made the bookings themselves for the cast and crew. Given the time of the event, they could only manage to get seats in the economy class of a low fare airline.
" Director Nagesh Kukunoor and co-star Rannvijay Singh were to join Ayesha on the flight. However, when the actress learnt about the bookings, she balked at the thought of flying economy.
"She just didn't want to fly that way and decided to opt out. After some time, the producers decided to cancel the event," adds the source.
Strangely, Rannvijay didn't get the message about the cancellation on time, and so he headed to the airport early morning to board his flight. "He had to make calls when he didn't sight anyone at the airport.
That's when he learnt the event was cancelled," says our source, adding that the VJ-turned-actor decided to go to the capital any way. "More so because a show of the music channel he's associated with was happening in Delhi.
So he went for it and returned in the evening," the source says. Tweet
