Bahadur shoots to the big screen
Director Kabir Sadanand, after making the critically acclaimed film Tum Milo Toh Sahi, is all set to recreate the cult comic hero Bahadur in his next. Titled Bahadur vs Bahadur, the film will be based on Abid Surti's famous Indrajal comic.
Bahadur has been a much sought after literary figure in Bollywood. Many filmmakers including the late Raj Kapoor had shown keen interest in translating Surti's 1970's comic hero into a Bollywood star.
And now, Bahadur will finally grace the theatres in the film to be made under director Kabir's own production banner Frog Unlimited. In fact, Kabir has already registered the title Bahadur vs Bahadur with the association.
Confirming the news, Kabir Sadanand told Mumbai Mirror, "Bahadur has been a character that has always inspired me. I am making a film on him.
However, it is too early to talk about the project just yet. We will be in a better position to talk about the film within a couple of months.
" According to sources from the industry, A-list actors Hrithik Roshan , Akshay Kumar and even Shah Rukh Khan have shown keen interest in being a part of Kabir's new venture. "However, Kabir is busy with another film at the moment and will start working on Bahadur vs Bahadur only next year," added the source.
Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the film, as the title suggests, will be a confrontation between Bahadur and a Bahadur imposter. Who is Bahadur? Bahadur, was a comic book hero published by Indrajal Comics and created by Aabid Surti in 1976.
The comics were published in various languages including Hindi, English and Bengali. The series focused on dacoity, which was at its worst in India in 1970s.
The plot revolved around Bahadur, the son of a dacoit Vairab Singh, who died in a combat with the Police. Incidentally, Bahadur, then a teenager, was adopted by Vishal, the police officer who shot Vairab Singh
(less)Peepli Live under fire for remarks about Lal Bahadur Shastri
Saini told PTI that they have sought an apology from producer Aamir Khan. According to them, the film was certified by the examination committee comprising four advisory panel members and one CBFC officer and he and Sharma were not part of it.
He said in one scene, a district magistrate of Peepli is asked to donate a hand pump to the affected farmer. There is a dialogue like "Ek Lal Bahadur de do".
"This is a derogatory and direct insult to former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri who was one of the most honest politician India ever had," Saini said. In a letter to Aamir, Saini said that the demeaning portrayal is a clear reflection of his lack of sensitivity and was a deliberate slander by the actors, producer and director involved.
"In the garb of political satire, you have insulted a great personality," he added. Saini said if Khan does not delete the dialogue from the film, he and Sharma would sit on a hunger strike near Shastri's statue at Regal in South Mumbai
(less)Shyam Bahadur Singh raas leela with bar girls embarrasses Nitish!!
He had to forego his seat of power in this connection as everything was available on tape. Though Mr.
Tiwari denied everything. Shyam Bahadur Singh, the JDU member of legislative assembly of Bihar who had defeated Shahabuddin from Ziradei, Siwan in Bihar, embarrassed the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by dancing with bar girls at his official residence in Patna.
The MLA, who is in his fifties and had organized a ?mahadalit? rally ahead of impending assembly elections in Bihar, threw the caution to winds and gyrated with skimpily clad dancers on the occasion. Sources from Patna say that the legislator was drunk and hence could not understand the implications of his actions in full public view, especially when everything was being recorded.
Ironically, the dancers had been arranged at his residence for the entertainment of dalits, who were scheduled to gather there for the ?mahadalit? rally. However, the legislator was wise enough to go for a public apology through the electronic media.
He apologized to people for his indiscretions and promised never to indulge in such acts in future. However, the analysts feel that the damage was done and JDU would find it hard to convince the people in next assembly elections in the state.
Though Shyam Bahadur Singh went too far in his discretions but it?s nothing new in Indian politics. Though not in a similar manner but earlier, too, bollywood hotties like Koena Mitra, Mamta Kulkarni, etc, are said to have performed at parties hosted by Bihar politicians in the State.
Even Lalu Yadav had once likened the roads of Patna to that of cheeks of Hema Malini. Though he did not mean any wrong to the veteran actress.
In fact, what he meant was that if voted to power, the roads of Patna would become as smooth as Hema Malini?s cheeks were. Then who can forget the indiscretions of Narayan Dutt Tiwari during his governorship in one of the southern states.
In fact, the media reports had blamed the veteran politician of indulging in sexual acts with a number of women sent to him by his agents from different parts of the country. He had to forego his seat of power in this connection as everything was available on tape.
Though Mr. Tiwari denied everything.

(less)Controversies And Criticisms Over Peepli Live
Right after Fanaa was released, Aamir's comment on the controversial Narmada issue led to a ban on the movie's screening in Gujarat. Rang De Basanti got into controversy following the protest of some animal right activists against some portions of the movie's title song.
Aamir's comments on Black, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee, led him to a cold war with Big B when Taare Zameen Par was released. There were controversies over Chetan Bhagat's claim to be credited for the story of 3 Idiots, the latest release starring Aamir Khan.
Now, Peepli Live, the actor's latest home production movie, has fallen prey to controversies. In Vidarbha, a few peasants' families have raised their voice against the screening of the movie as they reasoned that the movie has not depicted the farmers' plight from correct perspectives.
A hand pump, gifted to the protagonist in the movie, has been referred to as Lal Bahadur. It has drawn severe criticism from two members of the CBFC panel.
Moreover, some did not like way the media has been presented in the film. Despite all controversies and criticism, Peepli Live is going on well at the box office
(less)Bank seals Mehul's office
Recently, Samata Bank, from where he supposedly borrowed approximately Rs 50 lakhs and failed to return it, has sealed his Juhu office. Apparently, Kumar has been in debt for a very long time .
Six months ago, a leading financer in Bihar, Shyam Bahadur, filed a case against Kumar in Munger Court. “He (Kumar) took Rs 15 lakhs from me.
When he did not pay up, I went and met him. I didn’t like his behaviour.
With all the ghapla he did, he made a multiplex in Jamnagar. This is just not done,” said a furious Shyam Bahadur.
“I was helpless. That’s why I took the help of the law.
I pray that justice is done.” The worst affected is PEN (Popular Entertainment Network), from whom Mehul Kumar borrowed Rs 8 crores.
Jayantilal Gada, of PEN said, “Mehul Kumar’s films say that government chor hai, police chor hai, lekin yeh aadmi khud kya hai? I have been fighting cases in court against him for a very long time but I still haven’t got justice. He started paying a little money in the form of interest to me some time ago, and then stopped.
Later, I learnt that he wasn’t even paying my deducted TDS to the government. If you add the interest on my principal amount, it would amount to Rs 25 crores.
” That’s not all. Apparently, Mehul Kumar also took money from Tips (Kumar Taurani) and a financer in Mumbai, Narendra Hirawat.
While Hirawat remained unavailable for comment, Taurani said, “Mehul Kumar took approximately Rs 50 lakhs from us. He returned about 5-10 lakhs.
He still has to pay me Rs 40 lakhs at least. However, I haven’t filed a case against him.
” But General Manager, Development, of Samata Bank, Mr Sammi is firm in his resolve. He said, “I cannot tell you the exact amount Kumar borrowed.
But yes, we have attached his Juhu office.” Sammi did not rule out the possibility of sealing his Raj Classic flat too if Mehul Kumar does not pay up before his deadline.
“That’s the usual procedure. An auction might also take place.
However, if Mehul Kumar manages to pay up, everything would be fine,” he added. Despite repeated phone calls and text messages, Mehul Kumar was unavailable for comment
(less)Mehul Kumar's office sealed?
Refuting all these claims, Mehul, who spoke to TOI says, “All this is just imagined reporting. There is no truth in what all is being reported.
The matter that is being dragged here is a four-year-old matter and it is sub judice. So, I would not like to comment on it.
” Apparently, Mehul has been in debt for a very long time, and a number of debt-related legal cases were filed against him in various parts of India. Six months ago, a leading financer in Bihar, Shyam Bahadur, too filed a case against Mehul in Munger Court.
“He (Kumar) took Rs 15 lakhs from me. When he did not pay up, I went and met him.
I didn’t like his behaviour. With all the ghapla he did, he made a multiplex in Jamnagar.

He returned about 5-10 lakhs. He still has to pay me Rs 40 lakhs at least.
However, I haven’t filed a case against him.” Trashing all these reports as untrue, Mehul says, “This is being done to malign my image, as my movie, Krantiveer – The Revolution, has just released.
I accept that I borrowed some money before starting the work on the sequel, but there were some issues with the interest rate and then the matter went into court. Since it is a disputed matter, the court will have the final say, and I have full faith in our law system.
” According to the report, Samata Bank, from where he supposedly borrowed approximately Rs 50 lakhs and failed to return it, had sealed his Juhu office. But Mehul says that even this piece of information is baseless.
“My office is open and work is going on as usual. If you want, you can come to my office and see for yourself,” says Mehul.

(less)Sir Ben unfit for Shah Jahan's role: The last Mughal
"I have written to Sir Ben Kingsley to ensure factual accuracy and consult us before venturing into his new project on the Taj Mahal. "Personally, I think Ben is unfit for the role of Shah Jahan.
He should have taken a younger actor, " Tucy, a software engineer and owner of two firms in Hyderabad, said. He said he had advised Ben to send the script for his clearance.
He had earlier expressed his reservations about Jodha Akbar and had gone to court. Sir Ben Kingsley is best known for starring as Mahatma Gandhi in the film 'Gandhi' in 1982, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Tucy was in Agra to meet officials of the Archaeological Survey of India to ensure proper maintenance of the Taj Mahal and other Mughal monuments. He also appealed to the government of India to posthumously honour the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar with Bharat Ratna.

Tucy said he had established a trust and asked all Mughal family members to come under one banner and help each other
