Spice up V-Day with romantic Bollywood movies
It tracks the entertaining journey of two complete strangers who fall in love. The on-screen chemistry of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur pepped-up the narrative and is billed as one of the best romantic comedies so far.
" Cheeni Kum " (2007): Absolutely unconventional in its theme, "Cheeni Kum" is a sweet romance that blooms between a 64-year-old chef and a 34-year-old woman. Despite a huge age gap, their attitudes meet and eventually they fall in love.
The superb performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu made the saga convincing and it can be watched any time. "Jaane Tu.
..
Ya Jaane Na" (2008): A complete contrast to "Cheeni Kum", the Imran Khan-Genelia D'Souza-starrer "Jaane Tu..
.Ya Jaane Na" is a puppy love story about confused youngsters who couldn't differentiate between love and friendship.
Thanks to the fresh treatment and energetic performances, the film turned out to be a crowd puller. The youth-centric film's music was like a cherry on the cake.
" Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi " (2008): Small town romance has its own distinct flavour and that is what Aditya Chopra tried to capture in the film through Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. A middle-aged, mild-mannered guy is head over heels in love with his pretty wife, but she is in love with someone else.
He decides to win her love by transforming into a loud and fun-loving young guy from a boring 'babu'. "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" spreads a message that being ordinary makes no difference if the love is true.
Music was the icing on the cake , especially tracks like "Tujh mein rab dikhta hai" and "Haule haule". "Love Aaj Kal" (2009): A modern-day love tale, the film has two love stories from two different generations running side by side.
It underlines that love has the same essence , irrespective of age and time. Thanks to the storyline, the youth connected with the movie, which had Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone as a warring couple.
The soulful music and songs like "Aaj din chadheya" and "Yeh dooriyan" added flavour to the romance. "Dhobi Ghat" (2010): More than a movie, it is seen as a fantastic work of art.
Different from the regular romantic fare, the film brought a lot of diversity and innovative ideas into Indian cinema. Critics loved it, so did the audiences.
Starring actors like Aamir Khan , Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra and Kriti Malhotra , it is a mature and sensitive tale that appealed to a niche audience. "Band Baaja Baaraat" (2010): Everything about the film was over the top and loud, with loads of colour.
A career-oriented Delhi girl meets an unpolished guy. They first become business partners and then the inevitable happens - they fall in love.
The fun-filled, natural performances of Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Singh complimented the movie described as a sensible new age romantic comedy. "Tanu Weds Manu" (2011): Love at first sight is what happens in the film when R.
Madhavan's character Manu, an NRI, meets Tanu, a loud and confused girl. After a lot of dillydallying, Tanu realises the true meaning of love and reciprocates.
The intensity in Madhavan's acting and his suffering while seeing Tanu drift away from him tug at the heartstrings. It boasts of good music too, including some fast dance tracks.
Rockstar (2011): Ranbir Kapoor-starrer "Rockstar" is one of the best musical love stories in recent times to touch the hearts of movie fans in India and abroad. The storyline and acting enthralled the audiences.
The film is about a jaat boy and his journey of becoming a rockstar. It's interesting to see how love played a major role in his success

(less)I want to be remembered as an actor: Sumit Kaul
On being asked about his acting dreams he says, "I always wanted to be an actor, and I want to be remembered as an actor." And what kind of roles he is looking for now that he has made his entry into the big world of Bollywood? He says, "I am open to doing everything as long as it poses a challenge to me.
You cannot afford to be rigid as an actor restricting yourself to a certain kinds of roles. I have done television as well, so I won't mind doing more television, neither will I keep any restrictions on my movies either.
" And what is his mantra for success? He is quick to respond. He says, "I think it's about your attitude and not luck.
If you have the right attitude success will follow automatically." We say, the right attitude works, but only followed by hard work, which seems missing in the mantra.
But all good wishes with him.#
(less)TV has nothing new to offer, says actor Sanjay Mishra
There used to be a time when good shows with the format of limited episodes used to come but that is something that does not happen at present," Sanjay said when asked about comedy shows and his comeback to the small screen. "Be it news channel or the shows, everyone is making a fool of audiences.
Earlier, there used to be one newspaper, one radio and TV channel with news once a day but now it is 24 hours. They make anything news," the 48-year-old actor said in an interview.
He confessed that he doesn't watch television and will go back to it only if he gets something good to do. (less)Ali Zafar strives for originality
..
it is a long list. But in art, everyone should have their own innovative style and it takes time.
Since childhood I have strived for originality - be it music, acting, painting or something else," said the 31-year-old said, whose London, Paris, New York released Friday. But when it comes mathematics, Ali is not an expert.
"What I don't know how to do is to lie and I don't know how to solve the theorems and equations of mathematics. I am very weak in that," he said.
Ali, who is just three films old in Bollywood and is already being compared to Kishore Kumar, says Indian film industry has space for good talent. "It is the biggest film industry in the world and being the biggest, I think there is a lot of room in Bollywood for good talent.
If you work with dedication, this industry will give you a lot of love." "The industry has proved that if you have talent, good intentions and hard work, it will accept you even if you are from somewhere else," said Ali, who garnered praise for his work in his debut film Tere Bin Laden.
He has also been roped in by David Dhawan for the remake of 1981-cult comedy Chashme Buddoor. Tweet

(less)Milan Luthria to direct film for Bhushan Kumar
This will be Bhushan Kumar's next big project after the Salman Khan-Asin starrer Ready, which was a huge success in 2011. Says Bhushan, "I respect those who have good taste in music and I have always loved Milan's musical sense.
We released the music of Milan's last two hits, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and The Dirty Picture . I look for a director who has a commercial and musical sense, and Milan has both.
He has been flooded with offers from top producers post his last release, but he still chose to respect his commitment with us." About the film, Kumar says, "The script is exciting - it's a wholesome entertainer.
Most films today are either action, comedy, emotional dramas or romances, but Milan's film is a combination of everything, like a Manmohan Desai kind of entertainer, catering to all sections of society. We hope to start it by this year.
" Milan remembers Bhushan and his wife Divya complimenting him after they saw Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. "Bhushan told me, 'Why don't we do a film together?' but I got busy with TDP.
I like the way Bhushan promotes his films, and as the owner of a leading music company, he does have an edge over other producers."Milan says he's been working on this script for the last three years, and the subject is such that it needs to be kept under wraps.
"It's not a dark film but a flamboyant one. I have a big male actor in mind - someone I haven't worked with before.
I will start work on it after the sequel to OUATIM is complete. Music will play a big role in the film.
It's a character-driven story and not a plot-driven one. It's an interesting mix of old wine in a new bottle and larger-than-life cinema.
