Most of them fail to have a connect with the audience and even the ones that do are only partially successful. Like this one! Sid (Madhavan) is a divorcee and a divorce expert - he helps people seeking divorce, for a fee.

With Sonali (Bipasha Basu), he forms a clandestine company of Jodi Breakers who help such incompatible couples go their separate ways, without any legal complications. On one such assignment to Greece, they wrongly split a couple in love (Milind Soman - Dipannita Sharma).

Seized with guilt pangs, they subsequently decide to reunite the duo to make up for their mistake. And in process they themselves also expectedly fall in love.

Jodi Breakers derives its basic essence from 2010's surprise hit Band Baaja Baaraat , though ironically while that film was set on the backdrop of wedding planning business; this one has the backdrop of wedding breakup business. But beyond that the basic plot-points in the narrative of both films bear a striking resemblance.

Like Sid and Sonali maintain a purely professional relationship until they indulge into an impulsive lovemaking session just before the interval. Thereafter the awkwardness between them and the guy's non-committal outlook is clearly evocative of the Yash Raj film.

Moreover, like in that film, the estranged couple consequently comes together only for that one last assignment out of professional compulsions. Talking about the chemistry between Madhavan and Bipasha, while it's not bad, it's nothing more than functional.

The long-drawn-out kissing sequence or the one-night stand between them works only peripherally. The storytelling is such that it works towards the camaraderie between Sid-Sonali (Madhavan-Bipasha), while they are trying to rebuild the rapport between another couple (Milind Soman - Dipannita Sharma).

Shifting between these two couples, the narrative loses focus and you don't know whom to empathize with more. In the second half, the focus of the film shifts to Sid and Sonali's game plan to get the other alienated couple together.

With that being the nucleus of the narrative hereon, one expects the state-of-affairs to be eventful enough. However it never goes beyond the conventional zone and lacks to give the much-needed momentum to the movie.

The pace drops and at times the film ventures into super-soggy zone. Even the climax is tame though decent enough within the restricted scope of the story.

The dialogues range from the funny to corny lines but the toilet humour was quite avoidable. Madhavan takes center stage in the film and is cool, confident and convincing.

Bipasha Basu is decent enough but, at times, she puts this pretense to sound cute which just doesn't suit her. Omi Vaidya doesn't get much scope beyond a scene where he repeats his 3 Idiots wrong-speech act, but to good effect.

Dipannita Sharma plays her part well but is marred by partner Milind Soman who's quite expressionless. Helen is charming in her half-baked role.

Mrinalini Sharma tries to play the sexy vamp but gets limited scope. Don't expect anything path-breaking and Jodi Breakers will keep you happy for a 'couple' of hours.

"He asked me to trust him blindly and do it, as he thought I suited the role perfectly and he couldn't think of anyone else for it but me! I was stunned and it's a dream come true," chirps the actress happily. However, while asking about her role and character she keeps mum.

"I can only say that it's a pivotal and a very strong character to watch out for." So will she play herself in the movie and she replies, "I am a very soft and warm person at heart but Madhur asked me to keep my niceness aside and work on a tough character; he asked me to just follow his instructions.

" Madhur has always been credited as a controversial director so what does she feel about this tag? "People who are larger than life and who are extraordinary are usually surrounded with controversies but trust me Madhur is the most dignified and humble man I have ever come across in my life. I whould rather credit him as a 'dream director'.

It's not because I'm working with him or he is a family friend but each time I meet him I wonder how he gets into the mind, heart and soul of a women and portray it so well with his films," says the actress. Shilpi was last seen on screen in 'Style' and 'Jo Bole So Nihaal'.

So after almost seven years of absence, what are her expectations with 'Heroine'? "'Style' I did while I was in school and 'Jo Bole So Nihaal' after I completed my college so there was a gap between them. After 'Jo Bole So Nihaal', I went to New York to study interior designing and those days my father was also not keeping well so most of the time was spent looking after him.

However, now I hope that 'Heroine' will give second chance to my acting career," says Shillpi. Good looks with exceptional dance skill undoubtedly makes her the hottest property in Bollywood and Shillpi too have keen interest in doing full-on item songs.

She says, "I would definitely love to do an item song like Chikni Chameli, if get a chance." (less)

And though what the director has in mind, as far as the story is concerned, is still unclear, Mumbai Mirror has found out that he has surely found himself a leading lady. For Hirani's next project Peekay, the filmmaker has chosen YRF favourite Anushka Sharma .

The actress' close friend confirmed the news. A source close to the project informed Mirror, "Hirani and Anushka had a couple of meetings recently.

Hirani considers Anushka to be a very talented girl. He feels she has a lot of spunk.

" According to the source, Aamir Khan , who starred in Hirani's last film, may make a comeback as the male lead in the project. "That is almost final.

But let's see. An official announcement with respect to the male actor will be made soon," added our source.

Talking about the Hirani project, Anushka's friend added, "This is a very big step in Anushka's career. A few months ago, she signed Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola .

I will be joining the crew from May onwards right after my birthday, which is on May 1. So I will start shooting from May 2.

Directed by Rony Shaha, the comedy is being produced by Bhardwaj and it features Imran Khan in the male lead. Anushka, who has recently finished the first schedule of the film in Rajkot, says the film is different from what she has done so far.

"I am really happy to be working with Vishal Bhardwaj . We just finished a schedule in Rajkot and we are back.

He really is a genius director. He knows how much of what you need to use and portray that in his films.

. Only recently, Saif Ali Khan found himself in a controversy of sorts when an NRI Iqbal Sharma accused the actor of getting violent and misbehaving while having dinner at a posh restaurant.

Iqbal went on to file a police complaint against the actor who was arrested and released on bail soon after. However, the fiasco continues.
