Geeta Basra's dream comes true
I enjoyed every second spent with her. I have grown up listening to her songs and she is one of the greatest singers.
Lataji is the Nightingale of India in the truest sense."
(less)Katrina Kaif’s dream role revived
Akshay Kumar and Abhay Deol who were to play the roles essayed by Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in the original will have to follow suit. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the remake that was stuck due to the Sippy family feud will soon go on floors now that the fight has been resolved.
When we had spoken to Katrina about the Seeta Aur Geeta remake a few days before she left for London to shoot Yash Chopra's next, she had told us, "I don't know what is happening on that film." "But now, Bohra can definitely go ahead with that film.
I have told him that we Sippys are now on the same page. Also, I am meeting Bohra next week," GP Sippy's son Suresh's nephew Sascha told Mumbai Mirror.
"We are also very pleased to announce that our younger cousin Shehzad, Suresh Sippy's son has joined the team," Sascha added. Suresh's son Shehzad said, "I am very happy that we are moving forward.
I'm glad to be working with my cousins Sascha and Shaan. All issues and misunderstandings between us have been resolved.
We are withdrawing the case. The process for that has been initiated.
" Explaining how they ended the fiasco, Suresh said, "We are one family and we decided to put an end to our personal differences." The end of the Sippy family feud also paves the way for the conversion of Sholay into 3D.
Ketan Mehta's Maya Digital was working upon the version supposed to be presented by Jayantilal Gada of PEN India. Put off by the legal hassles of the Sippy family, Subhash Ghai who was supposed to partner Mehta in the project had opted out of it.
Flashback The Seeta Aur Geeta remake had run into legal hassles over licensing issues. Producer GP Sippy's son Suresh had raised objections against GP Sippy's grandsons, Sascha and Shaan , claiming that they had no right to license the Seeta Aur Geeta remake (February 7, 2011).
Sascha had then told us, "The matter is actually in court. The Delhi High Court has in fact restrained Mr Suresh Sippy from infringing our copyrights in several films, including Seeta Aur Geeta.
" Suresh had said, "Speak to my lawyers. The matter is under dispute.
It is going to the Mumbai High Court." But on being questioned further, he said, "Why just Bohra, I don't want anybody to remake Seeta Aur Geeta at this point of time since I have not licensed the remake.
The rights belong to me."
(less)Review: Chingari
The director has, of course, Indianised the film, but the imprints of the original are visible throughout the film. Though his first two directorial ventures were not commercial successes, Harsha seems to have struck the right chord with Chingari .
The director and his team of technicians have done a commendable job in giving a stylish touch to the narrative and Venu's awesome cinematography has taken the film to a next level. The major attraction of Chingari is certainly Darshan, thanks to his looks, charisma and talent to carry the role of an investigator.
He looks absolutely stunning in many sequences and his trademark style in action sequences is a treat for his fans. Having said that, Chingari suffers from some flaws too.
The first half is well presented, but too many loopholes later pat disappoints viewer. But the last 20 minutes puts the film on track again and sustain the interest of the audiences.
Comedy sequences featuring Darshan are executed well, but some of the sequences look too lengthy and illogical. Harsha has also erred in including too many commercial elements in the script.
Music is quite ordinary compared to the standards set by Hari Krishna himself in many recent films. In the film, Raja is a police investigator who saves an international celebrity from the jaws of death and the guy is so grateful that he tells Raja that he can call him in time of need.
Raja is attracted towards guitarist Geeta, but they part ways because of some misunderstanding. Geeta flies to Switzerland for a music audition along with her friend.
Meanwhile Raja, who keeps a track on her movements in the foreign country, comes to know that a gang involved in human trafficking has kidnapped Geeta. Raja wants to save his sweetheart and wants to fly to Switzerland and the celebrity comes to his rescue - he arranges a chartered flight for him.
Raja rescues Geetha who has already been sold to a gang involved in prostitution. Darshan impresses with his stylish looks, comical acts and breathtaking action sequences.
He dominates the entire film with his superb screen presence. Harsha has ensured that.
Darshan fans will enjoy the film as it has some punchy dialogues. Bhavana impresses too, especially in her dance number.
Deepika Kamaiah has worked hard to make her presence felt in the film. She has done her best in the first half where she has some good scenes with Darshan.
Srujan Lokesh, Sumitra, Ramesh Bhat, Praveen and Yashas Surya have performed well in their respective roles. Hari's scored in background music.
Chingari is a well-made film with rich production values and top rated technical work. Tweet
(less)Nepal plane crash: Rasna girl Taruni Sachdeva dreamt to become heroine
But the girl's dreams were cut short when she was killed in Monday's plane crash in Nepal. Her mother Geeta, who was travelling with her, also died in the mishap.
The two were part of a group of Indians who had chartered the Agni Air flight for a pilgrimage to Muktinath in Nepal. Taruni's father Haresh Sachdeva and his friend Ajay Jain have gone to Nepal to bring the bodies back.
"The bodies are being shipped by Agni Air but we are paying the fare. We will reach Mumbai tomorrow," Jain said.
The vivacious Taruni, who became one of the most poplar faces on television-she was the Rasna girl-had won the hearts of her directors and fellow actors, right from Amitabh Bachchan, with whom she had shared screen space in both ads and a film, to Karishma Kapoor. It was in an ad film where director Vinayan first spotted her and chose her for his Malayalam horror film, Vellinakshtram , starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Vinayan said, "I saw her in an ad with Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I got her number from the agency and called her.
When her mother Geeta handed the phone to her, Taruni said, 'uncle, I want to act in films'. She was an extraordinary child, full of life.
She was always with me all through Vellinakshtram . It is shocking that she is no more.
" Vinayan is so fond of the child that he has even posted his photograph with her on a social networking site. After Vellinakshtram, Vinayan also cast Taruni in his next film, Sathyam, where she acted with Sukumaran again.
A couple of months ago, Taruni was in Kerala shooting for a commercial. Vinayan said, "From there, she called me up to tell me that she wanted to be in my film.
I told her that we will definitely meet to speak about it. She said, 'Thank you, uncle'.
And those were her last words to me." Taruni was probably the first 11-year-old to have played the Big B's girlfriend in a movie.
Abhishek Bachchan , who was an assistant director of Paa , only had words of praise for the girl, who would play around the sets and chat with everyone. "She was a brilliant kid.
She was not only a good actor but also a well-informed child who had knowledge about everything that was happening around the world," he said. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: "Just reading that Tarini Sachdev the girl child artiste in Paa , has perished in Nepal plane crash.
Please God may this not be." Abhishek also posted on the micro blogging site: "SHOCKED and very saddened to hear about the Nepal plane crash.
Lost 1 of my cutest co-stars. Little Taruni Sachdev from Paa.
Speechless." Like the Bachchans, others known to Taruni and her family are yet to come to terms with the tragedy.
R Balki, who directed Paa and also shot many commercials with Taruni, did not have any words to describe his feelings. "I will not be able to talk," he said.
"She was a lovely vibrant child," is how Karishma describes Taruni; Karishma featured in the very popular Rasna ad , which made Taruni a household face. According to those in the film industry, Taruni was not only a good actor but also a very bright student and her mother always made sure that she never neglected her studies.
Line producer of Paa Anita Manchanda said, "Her mother was strict about her studies and would make her sit with her books on the sets, during shoot breaks." Manchanda fondly remembers how during breaks, Taruni would frolic around the sets and her mother would sometimes have to "rein in her make her sit down".
"But at the same time, she was a very diplomatic kid who knew how to handle both the young and the old. There were times when boys on the sets would try to trouble her but she tackled them so well that they ended up liking her.

(less)Real life love inspirations for stars
With V-Day round the corner, celebs recount inspiring tales of love ..
. Dipan Dash, actor Among the celeb love stories, I like the one between Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan.
They are from different religious backgrounds, but they never had any issues regarding that. This society is fractured with conflicting issues between Hindu and Muslims, but this love story has stood the test of time.
Behind Shahrukh's success, Gauri has a lot of contribution. Gauri performs the Hindu rituals at home and Shahrukh has always honoured that.
Another thing is that, despite leading a busy life, Shahrukh always spends quality time at home. He cares and gives maximum priority to his family.
That's what makes their relationship so unique. His V-Day Story Since Valentine's Day is my parent's marriage anniversary, I stay at home on that day and celebrate it with my parents.
Personally, I have never celebrated V-Day since I haven't been in any serious relationship. I remember, when I was in Class VIII, a girl had proposed.
I was actually very clueless about love at that time. So, I told her that I have to ask my mom about it before I say yes! The girl was astonished.
I also told her that if I don't take my mom's permission, she might scold me! That's the most weird experience I had on V-Day. Aishwarya Pathy, actor Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor have a great love story.
They share a very good understanding between themselves. I have seen many couples in the film industry and but I still feel that there is something special between Rishi and Neetu that makes them the unique jodi of Bollywood.
You know, according to the tradition of the Kapoor family, Neetu had to quit acting after marriage. She gave up her career without complaining.
In fact, she has happily adapted to her new life with Rishi. That is love.
Her V-Day Story When I was in college, there was a guy in my group with whom I used to hangout regularly. He was really a good friend of mine, but nothing more than that.
On one V-Day, he came with my other friends and proposed. I was really surprised.
Then I told him that I am sorry that I don't feel anything special for him. But I assured him that I will remain his good friend.
Rituparna Sengupta, actor Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's romance has been the most profound example of true love that crosses all barriers. While she came from the Tagore family, he was the Nawab of Pataudi.
The cultural backgrounds were different. So were the religious beliefs.
What's also important is that all this happened decades back when society wasn't this progressive. Yet, their marriage was so beautiful.
She continued being in the public glare, did some bold acts on screen as well as gave quality time to her family while raising her children so well. All this is possible with a great understanding between the spouse.
Her V-Day Story I was in Class IX when this incident happened. One day, while going to school, a boy came running up to me.
He said he couldn't take his eyes off me and handed over a parcel to me. It was a V-Day card where he had written: "To the most beautiful woman I know".
I showed the card to my friends in the bus and secretly enjoyed being the centre of attention of everyone! Arjun Bajwa, actor One profound romance was that of Sunil Dutt and Nargis who stood by each other to give rock solid support. They lived life to the hilt.
Their's was an unusual love story and stood the test of time. They lived a happy life as a couple together even while retaining their individuality.
Sunil Dutt took utmost care of her when she was suffering from cancer. They acted in "Mother India" as mother and son.
It intrigues me how they portrayed such a relationship so well that the movie went on to become a classic. Sunil Dutt set up the Nargis Dutt Memorial Fund, which has collected millions of dollars for cancer victims in India.
For me, this is a timeless romance. His V-Day Story When I was a teenager, I invited my girlfriend on a date to a restaurant at a remote location in Delhi thinking no family member would ever spot me there.
To my shock, when I was having dinner, my father turned up there at the same restaurant with my mother and a family friend. I was extremely embarrassed as I had told them I'm going to a friend's house to study for my forthcoming exams.
Chandan Roy Sanyal, actor I think, the romance between Guru Dutt and Geeta Roy was truly profound. They had a tragic story.
On the day he died, he started drinking at five and the last call he made was to Ashaji to find out if Geeta was there even after finding out that she was seeing someone else. I think, he just loved her a lot.
That's an overwhelming feeling and love is like that. Love is just a feeling which is beyond wanting to restrain the partner.
It's a desire for the person's well being that makes it so special. Love can be destructive.
I read about him and I realised that his feelings were too intense. I could relate to his emotions because I have also loved someone to the point of actually feeling that I would almost get devastated.
His V-Day Story I was going to England for the first time in my career. That was for work.
When I was leaving for England for my performance in February 2006, my ex-girlfriend called me up on the phone. It was Valentine's Day.
I was rehearsing in Puducherry then and she was in Mumbai. I still remember how heartbroken I felt when she said that she wouldn't continue because I would be going out for a long tour.
She was still in love with me but she didn't want to wait. Her priorities were different.
I still love her and will continue to do so all my life. Sujata Mohapatra, Odissi Dancer Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are the most romantic celebrity couple I have ever seen in my life.
Both of them are great artistes and they share a great chemistry. Though Amitabh Bachchan is still in the limelight and still giving amazing performances, he never lets his family life get disturbed.
It amazes me, how despite having a hectic life, they share this kind of a strong and loving bond. Her V-Day Story I remember when my Guru asked me to marry his son.
I had also noticed that Ratikant, my guru's son and now my husband, was interested to marry me. We were aware of each other's feelings, but didn't acknowledge it.
But when my guru came with that proposal, I happily accepted. It was a love-cum-arranged marriage.

(less)Marriage talk hampers Geeta Basra's career!
Look, everyone in this industry has a personal life. I am not saying I am single or not single.
Beyond that, whether we are getting married or not..
.I am not getting into all that.
I am here to work really hard. And it hurts to hear my hard work being trivialised by such rumours," she said.
"I've shot a terrific item song for Zilla Ghaziabad . Rumours of an engagement or marriage at this juncture would definitely harm my career.
There is no shaadi on the anvil. Such talk will take my career 10 steps backwards.
I can't afford that. When producers hear such rumours, they will obviously say, 'Isski to shaadi hone wali hai.
' I've been hearing such talk for three years. How come I'm not married yet?" Reacting sharply to the latest engagement rumours, Geeta said: "I've been getting updates about my private life in the papers.
Now they're even drawing up a list of the guests. Let me set the record straight.
He (Harbhajan) is my very good friend. But we aren't getting engaged or married.
My personal life is my personal life. No way am I going to use it to stay in the news.
" Refuting the January engagement rumours, Geeta said: "I am not getting engaged. Maybe he (Harbhajan Singh) is.
You've to ask him. Forget enagagement or marriage, I am starting a new movie in January.
Let January come and the world will know. Why do I need to say anything? As per reports, Itni baar hamari breakup aur shaadi ho chuki hai.
I feel there's no need to clarify anything." "Who is giving these reports on my engagement and marriage?" Geeta's last release was The Train in 2007 and she is making a comeback with an item song with Sanjay Dutt in Zilla Ghaziabad .
She admits she has waited long to sign a new film. "Three years is a very-long time in the entertainment industry.
But it was a conscious decision. I had so many offers.
It was very hard to turn them down. You can't imagine the number of films I've turned down in the last three years, including Golmaal Returns .
Even the money was good. Everyone kept advising me, 'Geeta, you've to be seen'.
But I knew what I wanted. I had to wait.
And I had no godfather to guide me." In three years, apart from other things, Geeta did a music video with Rahet Fateh Ali Khan.
Geeta gets charged up at talking about her item song. "I love dancing.
I always wanted to do an item song like Madhuri Dixit's Ek do teen'. In fact, I came down from London to Mumbai because I was inspired by Madhuri.
I wanted at least five days to rehearse. But there was no time.
I had to virtually get ready in a day. Luckily my choreographer Remo D'Souza is so calm.
It's so difficult to perform an item song. I don't know how Madhuri made it look so effortless," she said.

(less)Bhajii is back with Geeta Basra
Yesterday, the spinner and the actress were spotted entering a five-star suburban hotel together. The picture speaks a thousand words.
Obviously, the two have kissed and made up. An eyewitness present there said, "Harbhajan and Geeta are together.
Since Bhajji is going for a long overseas tour of tests and five one-day international in South Africa, the much in love couple decided to spend some quality time together. Both of them entered in the same car but when they spotted a photographer, Geeta Basra decided to feign ignorance.
Pretending to not know Bhajji, she started walking in the opposite direction." This photographer did manage to click them, not without a warning from Bhajji though.
Mumbai Mirror had reported that the couple had parted ways after Bhajji introduced Geeta to his family. But However after lying low for sometime both of them are now together.

(less)It’s only power yoga for Geeta Basra
A source close to the actress elaborates, "Geeta was asked to get in shape for her item number in Zilla Ghaziabad. After working out she decided to intensify her workouts with power yoga and soon that became the focal point of Geeta's fitness process.
" Geeta says, "I have just started power yoga few months back and it feels simply unbelievable. The relaxation one feels after doing it is very soothing.

Game over for Bhajji and Geeta Basra
But things seems to have taken an ugly turn after that. We hear that it was Singh who called off the relationship.
Differences cropped up between the couple after a trivial and turned into big issue. Geeta is said to be having hard time, coping with the break-up.
However, she is determined to concentrate on her acting career now that she is single again. Confirming the break-up, a friend of Geeta's told, "Harbhajan called off the relationship.
He is now going around telling friends that he is looking for a new girlfriend." However they still talk to each other.
"There is no animosity at all. It's just that they are no more a couple.
The incompatibility levels rose to irreconcilable proportions. Things spiralled out of hand," he adds
