I want to do comedy, romance: Mahie Gill
"I wanted to work with intelligent and good directors..
.these are the kind of films that they are making.
They are offbeat subjects, interesting subjects, new subjects. I am lucky that I am doing that kind of roles," said Mahie.
"But at the same time as an actor, I need to explore myself further because I too want to do comedies, I want to do romantic roles," added the 36-year-old. The critically acclaimed actress played characters with negative shades in "Sahib, Biwi aur Gangster" and "Not a Love Story", and says there's a special reason behind it.
"A lot of my directors tell me that I have a very innocent face. So when with an innocent face you play a character with negative shades, it looks even more interesting," said Mahie.
For now, she is set to play a deceitful Begum in the sequel of "Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster". Besides Mahie, Jimmy Shergill and Randeep Hooda, the sequel will also feature Soha Ali Khan and Irrfan Khan.
Mahie is currently busy promoting her forthcoming film " Paan Singh Tomar ", which has Irrfan Khan as the male lead. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia , the film hits theatres March 2
(less)Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 2 to begin shooting in May
Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 2 is going to be our immediate next project. Sequels make not only business sense but they also cater to our loyal audiences as they would be waiting to see what is going on in the lives of Saheb, Biwi and Gangster.
"Moreover, Irrfan & Tigmanshu's winning team will surely weave magic together, once again after Paan Singh Tomar ," said producer Rahul Mittra. The film also stars Jimmy Shergill, Soha Ali Khan and Mahie Gill.

(less)B'town filmakers turn ad maker
Tremendous control over the medium has enabled Bollywood to get some big bucks from a talented lot of ad filmmakers who turned directors and vice versa. Now the tables have turned and how! Filmmakers Abhinay Deo, Dibakar Banerjee, Imtiaz Ali, Tarun Mansukhani, Bejoy Nambiar and Rajkumar Hirani are also directing TVCs even as they continue their B-Town stint.
Imtiaz directed Neetu Kapoor and Jimmy Shergill in a bank ad, Tarun Mansukhani directed Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar in a paint commercial, Dibakar directed Imran Khan in a cola ad, Hirani directed Sharman Joshi in a soft drink ad and Bejoy directed MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi in a bike ad. Abhinay says, "Filmmaking is about how the fat is thrown out and the meat is presented to the audiences.
We can't afford to splurge in advertising. Ad filmmakers understand nuances like color coordination well.
And most importantly content comes first, technique comes later." Says adman Prahlad Kakar, "While ad filmmakers are more educated than regular Bollywood filmmakers and more professional, when a Bollywood filmmaker directs an ad, their connection with celebs comes to the platter of ad filmmaking.
Actors don't throw starry tantrums with known filmmakers when they do an ad." Abhinay however refutes the claim and says as an ad filmmaker he never tries "to consciously work with celebs.
In that case, the celeb becomes the script and the ad has no further scope." R Balki, a creative director of a leading ad agency feels, "The mindset of a person watching an ad and a film is different.
Otherwise both the mediums involve storytelling and they are not very different. Ad films teach you to communicate a concept and if it is about big bucks then ad filmmaking is also about big bucks.
" Well, as along as viewers get wholesome entertainment in a 30 second TVC with a starry cast and tampered with some master storytelling and smart packaging, it's a win-win situation for everyone involved
(less)Karisma has a dream role in Dangerous Ishq: Vikram Bhatt
Promotional activities are all set to kick-start with just a few months remaining for it's theatrical release. "The strength of Dangerous Ishq is its mind blowing idea.
The part that she gets to play in the film is a dream role for any actor. Karisma too understood that when 'Dangerous Ishq' was narrated to her.
"She comes with enough experience to gauge a film's strength at the script level itself. Once she agreed in principle, we developed the film a little bit more and were ready to roll," Bhatt told PTI.
However, Dangerous Ishq wasn't originally designed as a comeback vehicle of Karisma. The film's script was written well in advance without keeping any particular actress in mind.
Later it was pretty much a 'luck by chance' moment for both Vikram and the 37-year-old actress that the two ended up collaborating with each other. "I think everything is just about timing.
Karisma was at that stage in her life where she had decided to do a film. She was willing to give Bollywood a shot and was looking for the right script.
This was the time when I and my team were sitting with the casting director and Karisma's name popped up," said Bhatt. The director, who has films like Ghulam and Raaz to his credit, said he was initially apprehensive about casting Karisma in the lead.
"We were a little doubtful if she would do it but then the consensus was that she would be fabulous in doing a film like 'Dangerous Ishq'. Once we met, everything fell in place.
" Bhatt has had some misunderstandings and disagreements with his erstwhile mentors Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt that resulted in a fallout, but the team is together now with Raaz 3 . "Working with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt is like coming back to the house.
We wish each other well when it comes to our films. If I want their Jannat 2 to do well, they too are rooting for my Dangerous Ishq .
" With Jimmy Shergill and Rajneesh Duggall in the lead along with Divya Dutta and Ruslaan Mumtaz, Dangerous Ishq with music by Himesh Reshammiya is a co-production of Dar Motion Pictures, BVG Films and Reliance Entertainment and releases all over on May 11. Tweet

(less)Shah Rukh Khan to speak at Yale University
Regarded as one of Yale's highest honours, the Chubb Fellowship is conferred on those who have inspired students to see service to the public good as the highest calling, to which a global citizen can aspire. And our very own SRK, they have noted, is one of them! Apparently, they felt that his films and philanthropy, are important examples of the power of art to promote higher human ideals and aspirations.
"The faculty, students and staff of Yale are honoured that SRK has agreed to speak at Yale. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was filmed at Yale in 2006 and we know his return visit will be even more memorable," said George Joseph, Assistant Secretary, International Affairs, Yale University.
The Shubert Theater where SRK will speak, has been called The Birthplace of America's Hits, and a number of films have been shot around campus and town. Knowing what a charmer he is, we are sure he's going to win them over too!
