(less)John Abraham breaks a bone
"John has hurt himself badly. Three days back, we were shooting a fight scene between him and Chetan Hansraj inside the jail premises where they were beating up each other.
This was a single-take shot and we had to get it right. At one point during the shoot, John had to do a somersault over Chetan's shoulder and that's when he pulled a hamstring," said director Sanjay Gupta.
But the injury did not stop the actor and he landed up on the sets the next day to complete the sequence. "He was managing the pain with sprays, but eventually it got really bad.
The doctors have now advised him strict bed rest for six days and so we won't be shooting for the next week," added Sanjay. Interestingly this could have been the result of a special shoot technique - the fluid motion, Gupta has been using for all his action sequences.
"The technique involves a host of eight to 12 cameras capturing the scene and so there was no question of using a body double. John has also been insisting that he wants to do all the action himself, but I don't know if I can allow that.
Once he is back, we have scenes that include him climbing on top of a moving bus. We are going to take precautions so that he doesn't hurt himself," said the director.
When the film just went on the floors a few weeks back, John hurt his nose when a junior artist punched him by mistake, leaving the actor in extreme pain. Tweet

(less)John Abraham goes lean for Shootout At Wadala
John is on a strict diet of fish, sushi, protein shakes, juices and soups to achieve the look, which will be seen in the first half of the film. But he will appear in a more muscular build towards the climax.
"Manya Surve has to look really lean in the first 20 minutes of the film, till he gets into jail and starts working out. So there is an actual physical transformation that my character goes through in the film," said John.
The 39-year-old is taking training from Vinod Channa. "At times I feel like breaking down.
People always talk about losing weight, but it is a very difficult process. If not supervised properly, it can go really wrong.
But thankfully my trainer Vinod has been religiously working with me on it," he added. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Balaji Motion Pictures' Shootout at Wadala , also features Anil Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut.
It goes on floors in March. Tweet

(less)John Abraham to star in a film based on the LTTE
In fact, in order to prepare for his role, the actor will also have to travel to Sri Lanka several times to understand the political situation there. According to the director, John is very excited about the project.
Soojit Sircar said, "John is a politically aware actor. He reads the newspaper every morning, knows what's going on in the world.
He is clued in to the dynamics of the separatist strife in Sri Lanka. The minute I told him about my film he was on board.
" The only notable film to have been made on the LTTE's activities was Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Muttumital in Tamil with Madhavan in the lead. Tweet
(less)John Abraham, Kunaal Roy Kapoor in Kala Ghoda
Kala Ghoda , set in the Mumbai underbelly, will be shot in real time on actual locations and promises some real action. "It's the story of two cops, one hard-nosed no-nonsense and volatile played by John and the other a goofy ineffectual bumbling cop, played by Kunaal Roy Kapoor, who come together under trying circumstances for one night of relentless action in Mumbai," said Aditya, who is Bimal Roy's grandson and director Basu Bhattacharya's son.
The film goes on the floors at the end of the year and involves situations that come straight out of the record books of real-life police stations. The director admits he was initially reluctant to get into the project.
" Kala Ghoda is a authentic cops film. And my catchline for the film would be 'No Gun No Fun'.
I was a bit hesitant. It was John's exuberance and energy level that convinced me," said Bhattacharya.
"His homework for the role is incredible. I come from a sensibility different from the archetypal 'Bollywood' cinema.
I felt John and I coming together to do a film would be as odd as John and Kunaal Roy Kapoor's characters in Kala Ghoda coming together. "But John's dedication to the film has convinced me that 'Bollywood' no longer exists.
It is a state of mind where the walls have dissolved and a misfit like me has a place here," he added. John, who will produce the film, conceives it as a low-budget gritty independent film, meant for a specific target audience.

(less)I researched a lot about Manya Surve: John Abraham
In fact, me and Sanjay (Gupta) went and met the people who knew him to find out how Manya Surve behaved and the way he spoke," the 39-year-old said. "There was talk of me learning Marathi for this, but the idea was to understand the colloquial nature of the language.
..
so that you understand how Manya Surve was like in everyday life. So, as an actor I have really given all my effort and worked really hard to do maximum research towards this film," he added.
Though John plays the central character in the film, he does not feel burdened with the extra responsibility to promote it. "I am relieved.
Every film requires promotion and what I feel is what Ekta (Kapoor) and Sanjay (Gupta) have done here, is actually a boon for all of us. So I have been given an opportunity to have a platform to show what each one of us can do out here.
"I don't feel it's a crunch, I think it's a great opportunity and I am going to grasp it with both my hands. So, I am very excited," said John who was last seen in Desi Boyz .
Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Shootout at Wadala also features Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy and Manoj Bajpai. Tweet
