Bipasha is a heroine who is involved in all creative aspects of the film. It has been a privilege to work with a heroine like her who have never made anybody wait for her on the sets.

Bipasha has never been late on the sets," said Madhavan who was in the city to promote Jodi Breakers . The film, directed by Ashwini Chaudhary and set to release February 24, is a wicked romantic comedy.

Madhavan plays the role of Sid, who along with Bipasaha, is a 'Jodi Breaker' - helping people who want to break their marriages and start a new life. Bipasha said that the song titled Bipasha is one of the favorite songs of her four-year-old niece.

"I never expected a song after my name. And it is really good that the Song has been a hit.

My four-year old niece dances whenever the song is played. It is sign of the song being a hit," she said.

"All my films have seen me as a nice guy but in this film I am a little naughty..

It's just that I always like to do something different and I think I have been very lucky to have done that without having to change my looks. I am doing romantic films at 42, a solo lead which I think is great," Madhavan told PTI.

The actor plays a role of a guy whose profession is to seperate couples in "Jodi Breakers" which will hit the cinemas on February 24. Madhavan, who started his Bollywood career with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein in 2001, has given hits like Rang De Basanti, Guru, Mumbai Meri Jaan and Tanu Weds Manu .

The actor, however, says he still can't believe he has achieved so much without having a strong filmy background. "Sarita (wife) and I still stand in our balcony, look at each other and laugh because we can't believe it.

It's a dream journey. I had the dream debut, I had the good fortune of working with the most amazing icons of our industry.

"I think if I look at the slate of my films then this is exactly how it was meant to be for me. For somebody who had no background, I have seen the bottom of the barrel and have risen," he said.

Despite being in the industry for more than a decade and having an equally well off career down South, Madhavan insists that he is still criticised by people for his acting abilities. "I am still proving to people that I can act.

I am not the typical Hindi film hero with six pack abs but the public has endorsed me and I think as long as I am loyal to them nobody can say that I cannot act or my career is finished. The industry dwells on predictions and trends," Madhavan said.

Ask him what he likes to do apart from films, the actor said, "I love sports and travelling. I recently won a golf tournament in Dubai and I love spending time with my son.

I have tried to devote time with my son. I haven't been doing a lot of films so I am not that busy.

. People are actually accusing me of being a lazy actor because I do one film a year.

Then I had offered to let them read my script in my office provided they first signed a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). But they refused.

It was almost as if they were determined to prove we had copied their film, no matter what the truth." Relieved by the developments, Chaudhary said: "It is very fashionable and lucrative for people to jump in during the time of a film's release.

But when they met once again, this time as "Jodi Breakers"'s lead pair, it was like the good old days. Their crackling chemistry effortlessly translates on to the screen too.

Over to Maddy and Bips..

. You have known Bipasha for long.

Did you ever feel that she was hot? Madhavan: Well, does one find sugar to be sweet? Of course she is hot! But the problem is that she is completely in shape and can make any man feel unfit (pointing to his tummy). Bipasha: What rubbish! Madhavan: Aren't you a fitness freak? You are the fitness and I am the freak (laughs).

Bipasha: Maddy you are really mad. Okay, Bipasha, do you find South Indian men attractive? Bipasha: My sister is married to a South Indian and I have a South Indian nephew.

He looks very handsome. As for Madhavan, well, he is a benchmark for the kind of husband I want.

I have said this to Sarita (Madhavan's wife) too. He is such a wholesome guy.

Madhavan: We know what you mean by wholesome..

Bipasha: That's why I want to take you to the gym (laughs). Personally, I'd not like to settle for someone less than Maddy.

So, Madhavan, what has been your reaction to her wanting a husband like you? Bipasha: I have given the job to Madhavan to look for a guy like him for me. I told him this on his birthday.

Madhavan: My friends were flabbergasted on reading that. The biggest reaction was from my wife, whose eyebrows stayed up for two days.

She was like, 'Does she really know you that well?' I'm sure Bipasha will find a better hubby than me. Were you apprehensive about whether your pairing will work? Madhavan: I knew Bips as a friend, but was sceptical about how we would look on screen.

We are jodi breakers , but could not afford not to look compatible because eventually, it is a love story. Bipasha: But we hit it off on screen too (less)

And after some days, he couldn't control his homesickness. This incident happened while they were shooting one of the scenes of the song Jab Mein Tumhare Saath Hoon starring Milind Soman and Dipanita Sharma.

A unit-hand says, "There was a scene in the song where Milind Soman buys some jewelry for Dipanita Sharma. Madhavan and Bipasha just had to watch them buying it".

However Madhavan's passiveness turned into an active decision soon after the scene was shot. "The scene got Maddy miss his wife Sarita so much that as soon as the shot was wrapped up, he actually ended up buying an expensive jewelry piece to surprise her.

This left all the female cast and crew in awe! No doubt Bipasha Basu wants a hubby like Madhavan (less)

Later he again hurt his knee during the shoot of Tamil film Vettai . He under went a knee surgery last year in Australia and is now recovering.

However, the 41-year old actor regrets not listening to his doctor. "Wish I had listened to my doctors and taken a break earlier for my physiotherapy.

Things would have healed so much faster. Big mistake," tweeted the actor.

. How has the journey been so far? I started my journey as a model and have been a successful model for quite some time.

I have been walking the ramp and have even done television commercials where I have worked with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. My modelling days taught me a lot and I can never forget them.

And also one can't deny the fact that modelling is good money and one needs that for the struggle in the industry. How did Television happen? As a creative person one should always look forward, so after doing modelling I was thinking of what next? Then Ekta Kapoor gave me a chance in Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi where I played the character of Tushar and then later on I had worked in Kavyanjali and Kasauti Zindegi Ki - in my both shows I have played Shlok and Shravan respectively and I enjoyed my stint on television.

Working on television can gives an actor lots of creativity, one can learn the patience and dedication. Working on a daliy format was quite challenging I must say.

So it was quite obvious for you to shift to films? Yes as I wanted to pursue a career in films for some time. My film journey satrted with Sudhir Mishra's critically acclaimed film Khoya Khoya Chand where I played the role of a young hero.

The movie was based on the film industry. Later on I have done films Ek, The Power Of One, Fashion and Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani.

In Fashion though I had a very small appearance as Kangana Ranaut's crazy boyfriend, it had a good impact. In Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani played the role of Tony Breganza whom Katrina was about to marry.

I am happy that the roles which I have done so far are not easy to forget and most importantly the directors with whom I had worked like Sudhir Mishra, Raj Kumar Santoshi and Madhur Bhandarkar are all marvelous. I feel blessed to have worked with them.

Your experience in the film Jodi Breakers? Bipasha Basu and Madhavan are great human beings and it was a pleasant experience for me to work with them. For Madhavan I can say he is a selfless actor who never used to give importance to his screen space.

He was always worried about the final outcome of any scene. He put in a lot of effort on the quality of a scene.
