(less)Madhoo is making her comeback
She was last seen in Kachchi Sadak in 2006. The charming actress plays Vinod Khanna’s daughter-in-law, who is pregnant for the second time.
Her role is that of a Rajasthani woman who has to fight the bias against the girl child in the state. An excited Madhoo says, “I did Mohini for Hema and at a time when I thought I will not do TV.
I played Urvashi in the series that Hema was directing called Women of India. I have unconditional love for her.
When she wants me to do something, I have to because she is family.” Madhoo is a mother of two beautiful daughters and took a break from Bollywood when she got married to Anand Shah in 1999.
She adds, “It is a trial to see how my children handle my absence. I If everything goes well, then I will be open to serious work.
” Madhu, who is facing the camera after a long time, was nervous more about her looks than acting. “Acting cannot be learnt, so therefore cannot be forgotten.
As soon as the camera is on, you just become the character.” Madhoo hopes to do roles like the ones Michelle Pfeiffer and Meryl Streep are doing.
She says, “I still feel the desire to act. I can’t play youthful roles like Katrina does but I also don’t see myself playing character roles.

It is director Sachin Kundalkar's brainchild, and has Rani all charged up. Together they sat down and shortlisted a few songs.
Rani personally narrowed down the three tracks to be used." Choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant , the song will have Rani dressed up as the characters from three signature hits: Mohini in Ek Do Teen (Tezaab), Manju in Na Jaane Kahan Se (Chaalbaaz) and Radha in Tu Tu Tu Tara (Bol Radha Bol), made popular by Madhuri, Sridevi and Juhi respectively.
The outfits and the dance steps will be similar to the original. Adds the source, "Neeta Lulla has replicated the minutest details of their costumes.
" Sachin confirms, "This is a personal tribute to Sri, Mads and Juhi. They are actresses we both adore and whose films we've grown up watching.
It's a dream sequence, about which Rani and I are super excited." Needless to say, the inspiring icons will see the film.
"We both can't wait to show Aiyya to all three ladies," concludes the director
(less)Animated film to have 'item' number!
Produced by Pune-based Phoebus Media and Anushvi Productions, the 115 minute 2D animated feature weaves together the fascinating stories of Lord Rama and Krishna, Parashuram, Vaman, Narasimha and Buddha, and how they descended on earth to rid the world of evil and save mankind. Supriya Thakore, director Pheobus Media, spoke to IANS about the challenges involved in making of the movie.
She said, "In the beginning our challenge was trying out different designs to portray the characters, and then later putting the whole thing together. We didn't want the movie to be like different episodes.
It had been woven in single thread." Veteran Marathi poet Sandip Khare has penned the lyrics, sound design is by Vishwadeep Chatterjee and animation direction is by Abhijit Nene.
Anand Kurekar has given the musical score and the film has six catchy numbers sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Kunal Ganjawalla, Shaan, KK After Hanuman and Krishna , it is the turn of an animated mythology - Dashavatar , about Lord Vishnu's 10 incarnations, to entertain the audiences. Another is a children's song with lots of fantasy," said Thakore. Yesteryear's Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha's voice has been used for narration.
The other prominent voices will be of , Ashish Vidyarthi, Sachin Khedekar, Tom Alter and Rupali Ganguly. "What makes the new-age animated Indian films special is the fact that they are made on subjects related to our culture.
The entire movie is made in India without any assistance of foreign countries unlike other animated films," said Thakore. Shreya Ghoshal and Sanjeev Abhyankar.

(less)Chennai IPL team`s success
"Success in the cricket field has resulted in thin crowd at the theatres translating into losses for distributors and exhibitors," Shekharan told. 'There are hardly 30 people in cinemas for the evening and night shows making people like me wonder whether the business of movie distribution is worth pursuing,' said Shekharan.
He is presently distributing four films in the biggest movie territory in Tamil Nadu comprising Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts. 'The April-May period is usually our peak season since educational institutions are closed and fans visit cinemas in droves.
But this year, due to the IPL T20 matches, virtually nobody is turning up at the theatres,' Shekharan complained. 'While multiplexes are hedging their bets with different genres of films, the cups of woe at single-screen cinemas are full as even the costs of electricity consumed during evening and night shows cannot be covered.
As a result, several producers are thinking of deferring their releases,' informed Shekharan. 'Producers are waiting to know the fate of a major blockbuster 'Kuruvi' starring Vijay releasing Friday since he is a brand ambassador of the Chennai team,' he added.
The movies affected by IPL matches include 'Santosh Subramaniam' featuring Jeeva - the collections of the film dropped 85 percent ; "Yaaradi Nee Mohini" - this Dhanush starrer is a hit but its collections fell by 90 percent; "Arai En 305il Kadavul" - the film, which has Prakash Raj in the lead, is the worst affected since its collections never went beyond 40 percent since release; and "Iyakkam" - starring newcomers, the film sank without a trace
(less)Minimal make-up for Sonakshi
"Films and fashion are two extremely demanding professions. So, as of now, my priority is to make a mark in Bollywood.
Fashion is on my mind but only with time, it will take wings,"confesses Sonakshi, as she casually sketches a girl in a flowy toga dress. The actress is also gifting five sarees, designed by herself to her mom today.
Au Indian This Dabangg girl has won admiration for her Indian looks and features. And incidentally, her mother Punam Sinha was also an Indianwear model before she took up acting.
Having walked the ramp in Mumbai with the likes of Mohini Mahajan, Purnima Dasgupta, Meher Castellino and the late Persis Khambatta, Punam says that she thoroughly enjoyed her modelling days. She says, "My ramp days were lovely and we made good friends too.
Today, when I see Sonakshi take to the ramp, I relive my days through her eyes. It feels great to see her sport casual, western and Indian ensembles with such grace.
" Style Mantra Sonakshi likes to keep things simple and casual. "I don't like to dress up too much.
Neither do I like to put on much make-up. If I could have it my way, I would attend even red carpet events in a pair of jeans.
But then, you know, it's not considered the done thing," she rued. "I like to keep my make-up minimal and never go to sleep without removing every hint of it.
My fave colour is orange. I love to play with colours and use fluorescence too, in a mix and match way with my jeans and tees.
" Brand Connect As a brand ambassador of Provogue, Sonakshi says it's a fine way to be visible in the public eye. "After Dabangg, my next release is by the year-end.
So I decided on remaining connected with fans via brands. I choose them with discretion as my sensibility needs to match with them.
Of course, the brand also does its bit of research and only then approaches an actor," she cues. Fave Stuff Accessories can make a fashion statement and I like to don a few, too.
I really dig my dull gold dragonfly pendant, aviator sunglasses, multi-colour belt and watches
