Style Snap with Namita Rupani
Namita rejects 14 films in one year for skin-show
The actress has reportedly secluded herself to a close circle of friends and does not want to share her personal life with anyone. A few days back she was seen at the Chennai Airport, where she explained the reasons for her absence from Tollywood.
Speaking on her long hiatus from telugu film world, namita said that she was busy reading scripts and none of them has captured her fancy yet. The actress clarified that she will take up movie project only if it requires a high amount of acting and when it is not about the "skin-show".
It has been reported that the glamorous actress has rejected over 14 scripts in the course of a year as none of them met her expectations. The actress feels that her last batch of films highlighted her glamorous quotient and failed to tap into her acting prowess.
Right now Namita is looking for performance-oriented roles, so she will keep her distance from tollywood until a good script comes her way
(less)Sirf: Just an exemplary test of patience |
The movie does seem to be inspired by Anurag Basu‘s ‘Life in a Metro‘ with the difference being; the couples involved in this movie are all bound by a common thread. The story involves four couples Gaurav-Devika (Kay Kay Menon and Manisha Koirala),Akash-Namita (Ranvir Shorey and Sonali Kulkarni), Amit-Suchita (Parvin Dabbas and Rituparna Sengupta) and Rahul-Shalu (Ankur Khanna and Nauheed Cyrusi).
All these couples have problems of their own and envy the other, thinking their lives lack complications. Gaurav, a very rich businessman and Devika, a giant in the fashion industry are married for the last 5 years, but their life lacks love.
Rahul and Shalu is a young couple madly in love with each other and want to get married, but money turns out to be a major issue. Amit and Suchita are a newly married couple, but since Suchita is from a small town, she has trouble adjusting in a big city and trust takes a backseat in their lives.
Akash and Namita are always caught up with their work and don‘t get time to give their sick child any attention. Akash has a drive in him to get promoted but unfortunately the intent behind it is the fact that his wife earns more than him.
All these couples meet at the crossroads of their lives and are bound together by a common plot. Unfortunately, just when the audience expects the climax to give a solution to their problems, it turns out to be anything but.
Many of the instances are questionable like how did Akash and Namita‘s child who was so hale and hearty die so suddenly? Also, how does Devika forgive Gaurav when she had already made up her mind, that she would opt for divorce. The writers have done a pathetic job in the movie and the script is too loosely bound make even a minor impactKay Kay Menon has very little scope in the movie.
Manisha Koirala is passable but the girl‘s looking old and tired now. Rituparna Sengupta tries to make the audience laugh a little but only manages to irritate.
This ‘Bong‘ babe really shouldn‘t be allowed to smile, there are no angles to hide that nose and those teeth.Sonali Kulkarni and Ranvir Shorey are the most convincing of the lot and deserve recognition.
Parvin Dabbas , Ankur Khanna and Nauheed Cyrusi are passable. The music by Sohail Sen and Shibani Kashyap is really not even worth a mention.
Even the cinematography was plain and added nothing to this already failing film. All in all, ‘Sirf‘ has a lot of issues and The Bitch doubts if anyone would even notice the quick disappearance of the movie from the theatres! ‘Sirf‘ in a crux is very aptly justified by its tagline ‘Life looks greener on the other side‘, but unfortunately its implementation is very vague and gets lost as the story moves on.
I for one, was wondering how much fun the other cinema goers were having, while watching some other worthy film

(less)Big butts rule B-town
Closer home it's Katrina Kaif who was voted to have the best bottom in the business last year, with Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu coming close seconds. And while it's not just about having a big derriere, it's more about flaunting a rounder tight behind, that not just the women but also the men are vying for.
John Abraham created waves when he flaunted his famous booty in tight trunks in the film Dostana and Shahid Kapoor recently admitted to using butt pads to enhance his look. Actress Cameron Diaz has also said she'd love a bigger butt — "more meat on my bones.
" Is the curvy look here to stay? Fitness expert Deanne Pandey is all for this 'trend'. "From the health perspective, women with larger bottoms are considered pear-shaped and are far healthier than the apple-shaped women who are rounder on the belly and have fat which can cause strain on the heart.
A natural bottom is always considered sexy and very appealing to men. The average Indian man or woman doesn't have very good glutes though and needs to work towards it.
" Deanne feels among the Indians Malaika and Amrita Arora have naturally rounded bottoms as does Lara Dutta. In Hollywood, Eva Longoria is known more for her behind than her chest size.
She adds that while one may not be able to drastically increase the size (non-surgically), doing some yoga asanas, swimming, and squats can help create a firm and pert bottom. Even men, who earlier concentrated on their triceps and chest are realising the importance of working on their bottom half.
A curvy body is definitely more desirable, feels fitness expert and nutritionist Namita Jain. "Indians have a larger lower body and need to sculpt it.
The hourglass look is always wanted and for this people need to consume a certain amount of fat. One cannot be totally radical in their diet," she says.
Namita is all for this refreshing trend as she feels the skinny bulimic look had gone on too long. "I think it's about time women became proud of their butts!" Model choreographer Marc Robinson is all for the curvaceous look, though he finds the idea of men wearing butt pads a little odd.
"If they feel a need to wear them, then I guess it's all right. It's like makeup or adding bra cups.
If it betters one's look, why not!" Designer Vikram Phadnis says butt enhancements are totally unnecessary. "I've never designed clothes for a particular body type.
Indian women have a perfect figure that is slightly hip heavy and different from their Western counterparts. We don't like our women skinny or looking like scarecrows, so the Indian woman has always embraced her natural butt and chest size," states Vikram adding that Malaika Khan has a butt which no one can match.
It's time for curves, feels designer Mandira Wirk. "Wide bottoms are in demand as skinny models don't do justice to the clothes.
People today want a healthier figure as the lean look isn't very attractive. And yes men love the fuller figure too, I know my husband does!"
