Rahat’s love song for Bhatts
Rahat, who remembers and respects Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt for supporting him when he needed it the most has sung for their upcoming film Blood Money for free. The song, Chahat is his way of paying back for their kindness, says the singer.
According to a source close to Sony music , the song was recorded in Dubai a few months back since Rahat at the time was unable to come to India. "He had made it clear that he did not want any fee for the song strictly due to emotional reasons," said the source.
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror from Pakistan, Rahat confirmed the news and added, "Bhatt saab supported me and gave me an opportunity when nobody really knew me in the industry. Later, when I got embroiled in legal hassles, he was the only person to come forward and give me support.
At the time, others were simply avoiding me since they did not want to get into trouble. Apart from that, Bhatt saab has also played a major role in trying to rebuild Indo-Pak relations.
I hold him in very high regard." Talking about his relationship with the singer, Mahesh Bhatt said, "During Paap, my daughter Pooja's husband identified Rahat's song Mann Ki Lagan.
Pooja included it in her film though well-wishers advised her otherwise. Later, in Kalyug, Rahat sang Jiya Dhadak Dhadak.
Both songs went on to become hits. And Rahat became popular.
When he was caught in legal trouble, the people from the industry chose to stay away. I, however, believed that though he has broken the law, he couldn't be termed as a terrorist.
I defended him openly. It's his way of saying 'Shukriya'.

(less)Music Review: Jannat 2
The finest voices have come together to create something really poignant. The album's music is soulful and revitalising, bringing together elements of Sufi and Bollywood beats.
Pritam as a musician has not too much freshness to offer, but he succeeds to impress by doling out catchy tunes wrapped around the dreamy lyrics of Syed Quadri. The album kicks off with Tu hi Mera .
Sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali, it is a Sufi number peppered by beats that you might have heard before. But still, it manages to hold your attention from the beginning because of the sheer brilliance of Shafqat's voice.
The chorus too is exquisite. But as a listener one expects more variations in a song.
Pritam has played safe and produced a regular Sufi number, which it will still manage to get a good position in the music charts. Next is Tera Deedar Hua and it is a showstealer.
An awesome track, it is a perfect blend of the fantastic voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan interlaced with subtle qawwali tunes. It will surely strike a chord with youth with its fast paced music and romantic flavour.
Full credit goes to Pritam for doing justice to the mesmerizing track. Having said that, the song starts with a tune which reminds you of the Bryan Adams hit Summer of 69 (another rip off maybe).
But still it's a wonderful track nonetheless. It also has a From the heart version by Javed Ali, which is catchy, but nowhere close to Rahat's.
Next on the playlist comes Tujhe sochta hoon by KK, which is simply a class apart. A slow and sensual number, it is about love and the pain of separation.
The lyrics provide depth to the beautiful song that brings back the magic of Pritam and KK. Riding high on the success of Rockstar , Mohit Chauhan lends his touching voice to Rab ka shukrana .
The sensitive touch of his voice flows down your heart and mind. It also has a reprise version sung by Anupam Amod.
After that is Jannatein kahan , which is a like a continuation of Zara si from Jannat . It is full of electronic and dubstep sounds, something one doesn't usually come across in Bollywood music.
It also has a power ballad version that is equally compelling. The final verdict - another goodie from the Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt camp, which is sure to steal a good number of hearts through its music.
Thumbs-up to Jannat 2 music. Tweet

(less)Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's troubles not over yet
He had to surrender his passport and he is not allowed to leave the country. Rahat and two others - Maroof and Chitresh Shrivastava - have been asked to appear before the DRI on February 17 again.
This comes after Pakistan asked India to immediately end the protective custody of the singer. The singer left the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) building on Monday evening after questioning.
During his interrogation, Rahat told the DRI officials that he is a school dropout and hence not familiar with the laws. As per norms, a foreign national cannot carry beyond US $5,000 in cash and US $5,000 in other instruments.
The person has to declare the amount if he is carrying more than this to the Customs Department. Chitresh Shrivastava, elder brother of Bollywood singer Aadesh Shrivastava, was also questioned by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in Delhi.
DRI officials conducted raids at the premises of "Eyeline Telefilm and Events", owned by Chitresh and found Rs. 51 lakh in cash which was seized along with some documents.
The government is, meanwhile, investigating the source of the money that the singer was carrying. A nephew of Pakistani singing legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat is a top Bollywood playback singer and has several hit numbers to his credit.
He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer this year for 'Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji' from the movie 'Ishqiya'
