Aamir’s outing with a real cop
The actor who will be seen in a police officer's avatar in Reema Kagti's Talaash was constantly in touch with a real cop to continually observe his mannerisms. According to a unit hand, the actor used to visit the control room to get a feel of the atmosphere.
He also accompanied a real cop on a night round up duty to get a clear idea about their way of interrogation. Known to be secretive, Aamir Khan preferred to execute his observational tactics at night, so that he wouldn't draw much attention.
Talaash has been delayed due to his television debut. It is believed that Aamir will re-shoot a few scenes of the film in June.
Talaash is expected to release in November
(less)Aamir Khan: Right now my life revolves around TV show
"Right now my life revolves around the show. My team and me are trying to do something different.
I have been working on this show for last two years. This is my life's ambitious project," Aamir said.
"I am very excited about my television debut. Usually today's day (birthday) I usually spend with my family, but today I will be leaving for the shooting of my television show," he added.
Talking about "Talaash", he said: "'Talaash' is very close to my heart. Earlier, we were trying to release it in January.
Then we announced it for June. Now, the date has been pushed to either Nov 30 or Dec 7.
I am sorry for this, I know my fans are waiting for 'Talaash'," the actor told reporters on the sidelines of his birthday celebrations. Written and directed by Reema Kagti , "Talaash" is said to be a psychological thriller and Aamir is co-producing it with Excel Entertainment.
Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor are playing female leads in it. Disclosing further details behind the delay, he added: "Reason behind this is the show I was doing.
The set caught fire and the entire set was destroyed. So, the show got delayed a bit.
So, I am focusing on the show, which is impacting the release date of 'Talaash'. "Both are very close to me.
I can't give justice to both at the same time. So, I discussed with Reema and we decided to push the release date of the film.
"
(less)Farhan Akhtar to co-produce with Aamir Khan
Now we're just finalizing projects that we want to do next year so between me and Ritesh (Sidhwani) at Excel, that's what we're doing- short listing directors and scripts that we'd like to work on." The multi-talented actor cum director cum singer says his focus does not lie on one thing alone, it lies in a lot of different areas but they all come under one primary subject line- films.
"My focus lies in film in general so what I am producing, going to act in or direct- all my interests are covered under one blanket," says Farhan
(less)Aamir Khan chooses TV over Talaash
Instead of an after-Indian Premiere League June 1 release, the film will now hit theatres end November or first week of December. Reason is once again the actor's preoccupation with his upcoming show.
When contacted, co-producer of Talaash, Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel entertainment, confirmed the news and said, "The film's release has been postponed due to delay in the TV show, which was earlier supposed to go off-air end May but is now going off-air end June. If we had stuck to the original plan, the timings would have seriously clashed.
Also, it's Aamir's next big film after 3 Idiots and he needs to be around at every step. Besides, Aamir is very particular about getting time between two projects.
Later on, he is committed to Dhoom 3 so the best decision was to release Talaash end November or first week December." A source close to Aamir told Mirror, "With Talaash having become one of the most viewed trailers on the Internet in recent times, it was a tough call for Aamir and those concerned with the film to push it to November.
However, Aamir sacrificed the date, which was actually commercially very suitable for the TV show.'' According to a source close to the film, "The fire on the sets of the TV show caused the delay.
Aamir is currently completely immersed in his show which will leave him with hardly any time to get involved in matters concerning Talaash. This is the reason why the film's release has been shifted.
" Incidentally, there was a fire on the sets of Satyamev Jayate sometime ago which kind of threw the schedule off track. Fortunately, the decision hasn't resulted in any financial losses as Ritesh confirmed saying, "No, the shift in date hasn't caused any loss of money and anyway, that is not our concern as it is Aamir and our co-production.
We are in fact happy to get more time for our movie." Reportedly, Aamir will continue to shoot for his TV show for at least two months following which he would require a gap of around two and a half months before he takes on the film.
Ideally, the actor is not in favour of any overlapping of his projects. Meanwhile, post production of Talaash is progressing rapidly with Aamir having dubbed for almost all his parts at the Khar recording studio.
And as is common in B-town, one film's delay has been another film's getting pushed ahead. Word is Rowdy Rathore will now release on June 1 instead November 30 as was earlier ordained
(less)Aamir, Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra to team up again
The film starring Aamir, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya and Boman Irani was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone written by Chetan Bhagat. Reportedly, Aamir has signed Hirani's tentatively titled film PK , which is to be produced by Chopra.
"We have finished writing PK ," Hirani told reporters. Asked if the trio would team up again, Hirani said, "Yes, it would be a return.
" Earlier, Aamir on his birthday had said, "I would love to do Raju's (Hirani) film. But I want him to make the announcement.
The script is very good. Raju is a very good director and a very good human being.
We have spoken about a film, but it is better if he announces it." This year, Aamir will be seen in Talaash , a psychological thriller directed by Reema Kagti which also features Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji.
It is slated for release either in November-end or early December. Then he has Yash Raj Films Dhoom: 3 , which is scheduled to release in 2013.
The shooting of Dhoom: 3 starts in May. Tweet
(less)A twist on Aamir Khan's birthday
Aamir Khan is one of the producers of the film; the others are Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Talaash , directed by Reema Kagti, also stars Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji.
Ostensibly, the release date has been postponed keeping in mind Aamir Khan's debut on TV, also slated for June. Given the extensive and innovative promotions which Aamir undertakes for each of his films, the reason to shift dates is credible.
Or is it? Dig a little deeper. In Pics: Aamir Khan turns 47 On the other side, old rival Shah Rukh Khan is neck-deep in filming his big Diwali release - the untitled Yash Raj film with Katrina Kaif.
If their first-time together on screen isn't big enough, this one is surely the clincher - master director Yash Chopra returns to direct SRK after eight years. Their last film together was Veer-Zaara , with Preity Zinta in the female lead role.
With Diwali on November 13, SRK's film will release roughly two weeks before Talaash . Like ghost of Diwali past, when a similar situation was played out in 2008.
That year Aamir's Ghajini outpaced SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi . While Ghajini became a huge blockbuster, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , though a blockbuster, didn't inspire haircuts and chiseled bodies.
Many said at the time that smart promotions are what worked in Ghajini's favour - including movie theatre staff sporting Aamir's signature cut from the film. Will 2012 see yet another slickly-promoted Aamir Khan film hog the limelight and the box-office and the awards (though Aamir steadfastly shuns them)? We'll know in a few months.
Till then, there are huge numbers of his fans counting down the days. Aamir Khan fans going ballistic on FB.
1st reaction to Talaash delay news - "Shit Happens!" :x, says a tweet. "TV killed the movie star," says another.
Others say SRK will be upstaged (we can't use the real word here, so think of the extreme form) by Aamir and Aamir by Salman's Dabanng 2 ! Clearly, Aamir Khan's 47th birthday (apparently no celebration has been planned because he is immersed in his TV show) comes with a twist. Watch out! Tweet
(less)Will Rani Mukherji stand out in Talaash?
With Talaash and Aiyya up in her kitty next, Rani has a promising year ahead. As she celebrates her birthday on March 21, we analyze what stars have in store for the actress.
"Rani was born on 21st March, 1978 which makes her a Number 3 (Jupiter) person in numerology. She is an Arian (ruler Mars - Number 9) and her destiny number adds up to Number 4 (Rahu).
Technically, Rani is also a cusp between Aries and Pisces, hence she will get the vibrations of this sign as well, which is primarily ruled by Number 3 (Jupiter)", explains astro-numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi. "Being a Number 3, Rani is ruled by one of the most powerful planets - Jupiter and she can at best be termed as plain lucky.
With her unconventional looks, short height and husky voice, who could have ever thought that she would make it so big in the world of Bollywood? Her mars effect makes her a fighter and too hard working as a person that has paid off big time in her case. The impact of 'Rahu' makes her at times lose focus, direction and therefore her financial planning may go for a toss, so she should invest wisely for her future".
"Rani will be entering her 35th year now which will turn out to be a productive year for her" predicts Bhavikk. "Her next release, Talaash with Aamir Khan and directed by Reema Kagti will see her once again in top form and despite being in an ensemble cast, Rani will stand on her own and draw attention from critics and audiences both.
After that in Aiyya she will be able prove once again that she can pull off a film on her able shoulders and thus she is the 'rani' ( queen ) of the box office too", adds Bhavikk. We wish Rani Mukherji a very happy birthday in advance
(less)A tribute to Bollywood's power moms
..
to hold, nurture or to spice up (the story lines and movie plots). B-Town's screen moms usually fit certain slots - the impoverished and helpless mom had to sew clothes for the neighbours to make the ends meet; the fiery mom could challenge the Supreme and pray for her child's well-being; she would also meticulously knead aloo parathas and whip up kheer.
Some moms often became the bone of contention between son and his 'modern' wife. The screen ma could also urge her son to avenge his father's death.
Or if she was given a choice between picking the right over the wrong, the Bollywood mom could also shoot her errant son. The mother's character was a favourite fixture in Bollywood films until recently.
Mehboob Khan's masterpiece Mother India, was among the first films that glorified a mom on screen without making her a martyr ( Nargis). Durga Khote as the supportive mom in Mughal-E-Azam gave a new meaning to her role.
Sulochana; for whom Rajendra Kumar sings Meri Duniya Hai Tere Aanchal Mai, vivacious Dina Pathak in Khoobsurat to Golmaal - there have been women who have immortalised mothers on 35 mm. On Mother's Day, here's a flashback of all those special moms from Hindi films.
Jaya Bachchan in K3G As a designer chiffon sari clad mom, dripping pearls, flashing a warm smile as she firmly held the puja thali, Jaya Bachchan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G), was also blessed with an uncanny ability to sense the presence of her son from miles away. Throughout the long family drama, she remains the quiet cardboard figure until she steals the thunder in the last frame.
Nirupa Roy in Deewar She was one actress you could always visualise as Bollywood's eternal maa. Nirupa Roy in her trademark white cotton sari and a huge bindi on her forehead was the self-righteous mom in the iconic Deewar , who tried her level best to bring her erring son from the path of evil and failed.
She was the woman for whom Shashi Kapoor said, Mere Paas Maa Hai . Even when she was helpless, she didn't compromise on her ideals.
Though she was a filmi character, Nirupa managed to etch a place for herself in the hearts of many. Rakhee in Karan Arjun Rakhee Gulzar has proved her mettle as mom many times over, but among her most memorable shots as mom was when she turned into the long suffering ma in-waiting of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Arjun .
Her signature one-liner Mere Karan Arjun Ayenge went on to become the butt of jokes, but she was excellent as always. Vidya Balan in Paa Playing ma to Amitabh Bachchan isn't really a 30-something's dream, but Vidya Balan took up a role delivered a game-changing performance in Paa .
Essaying the role of an independent and fun mom who was an anchor for her son Auro suffering from Projeria (in the film), Vidya proved why it's important for every child to have a friend in a mom. Tisca Chopra in TZP One role and Tisca Chopra was on a roll! Tisca caught everyone's eyes in Taare Zameen Par as the untiring Indian mom who can turn the world upside down for her child.
As the affectionate mom who gives succour to her dyslexic child Ishan, she was indeed a treat to watch. Just the kind of urban mom, every kid loves to have! Zohra Sehgal in Cheeni Kam Who said 80 year old moms can't be fun? Zohra Sehgal as the fun loving mom full of joie de vivre in R Balkrishnan's Cheeni Kam had more spunk than her sullen celebrity chef son (played by Amitabh Bachchan).
She might have had a small role in the film, but as the woman who tries to teach her grumpy single 60 year old son to live life, Zohra was a rare bundle of energy. Rekha In Koi Mill Gaya May be you don't think of Rekha at first when you think of Bollywood mothers, or vice-versa.
But we certainly remember her doing a white sari act and adamantly saving her son (Hrithik Roshan) from an extra terrestrial in Koi..
. Mil Gaya .
In this Bollywood version of Spielberg's E.T.
, she was in fact the flavour Bollywood. FYI: Rakesh Roshan was very hesitant to ask the glam-diva to play a mother on the first place, reportedly he tricked her into hearing the script casually.
Result: Rekha commanded, no one but she'd play the role. Reema in Maine Pyaar Kiya Reema changed perception of the eternal earth mom in Bollywood with a vengeance.
She was Salman Khan's favourite screen mom, a role that she slipped into naturally into with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya. She was also among the first screen mothers to have jet black hair and looked young and chirpy enough to be her son's friend in MPK.
Her portrayal as the silk sari clad mom with her hair neatly tied in chignon, was pretty convincing in her role play. Farida Jalal in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge A talented character actress, Farida Jalal was the epitome of the typical urban Indian mother in Aditya Chopra's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge .
She lets her daughter (played by Kajol) live a dream and stands by as a strong support when she's needed. For this all-compassing role that was written with care and executed with brilliance, she also won accolades and awards.
Kirron Kher in Rang De Basanti As the new-age Nirupa Roy for Bollywood, Kirron Kher stole the thunder as Aamir Khan's funny and feisty mom in Raykesh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti. As the motormouth dhaba owner who prays for her son's well-being (for which she ties her two fingers with a dhaaga) she also provides him silent strength to stand up against evil.
You rock! Ratna Pathak Shah in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Ratna Pathak Shah was a revelation in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na as the paranoid yet liberated single mom who worked as a social activist (and also vented her angst to her late hubby hanging from a photo frame from time to time complaining about her son) in Imran Khan's debut flick, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. A role that was smartly sketched, unfortunately she didn't have too many memorable scenes, although she did make an impact anyway!
(less)I thank God for all success, says Aamir Khan
"I am humbled that you all are here to wish me. My day starts with you, with your good wishes," said an overwhelmed Aamir.
He also cut a cake. "I would thank God who has given me all the success and happiness that god has showered on me in my personal life.
We were recently blessed with a kid named Azad so I am thankful to god," said the actor, dressed casually in shorts and a T-shirt. Hours before Aamir Khan turned 47 came the big news break last night.
Talaash , his psychological thriller due to release in June, has been postponed. Today, Aamir apologised to his fans for the delay.

(less)Reema Lagoo back on TV after two years
"I'm playing a Muslim character for the first time in my career in a film being directed by Rahul Kapoor. The movie is based in Lucknow and Dubai.
It is about a boy and his mother," said Reema, who is making her small screen comeback with NDTV Imagine's Do Hanson Ka Jodaa . "The film shows how the son goes to Dubai, gets into wrong company and with what difficulty his mother brings him back.
I've never played a Muslim character even in my theatre career. The entire get-up of my character is different; I had to wear Punjabi style salwar kurta and I even had to speak in Urdu," she added.
According to the 51-year-old actress, the movie also features Aftab Shivdasani, Gauri Karnik and Rituparna Sengupta. Asked if she had any difficulty in delivering dialogues in Urdu, Reema said: "As a theatre person, I am familiar with the language and I am quite fond of it as well.
But I try improving myself because it's nice to be extra-focussed towards playing a character you've never essayed before. "I've never ever got a chance to play a Muslim in my theatre career also - so it's been exciting.
" This apart, Reema, who gave memorable performances in films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Hum Aapke Hain Koun , has also finished working on an untitled Hindi suspense-comedy, produced by a south-based company. But right now she is busy with Do Hanson Ka Jodaa , which has brought her to TV after two years.
The show, by Sooraj Barjatya's Rajshri Productions, is about a young girl who always dreams of marrying a hero-like man but ends up in wedlock with an ordinary looking, middle-class man. How she struggles to adjust and gradually falls in love with him forms the rest of the story.
Reema plays the girl's mother in the show. "I liked the subject of this serial.
The content is meaningful, the look is simple, it's not typical and the script is really good. My character Snehlata has been etched out very well.
She suffers from severe illness, yet is so full of life," said Reema, who is popular for comedy shows like Shrimaan Shrimati and Tu Tu Main Main . During her two-year hiatus, Reema was involved with her first love - theatre.
"In all the years that I had been busy with TV and films, I got very isolated and really missed my live audiences. So in the last two years, I met my audience and had a dialogue with them.
I always had a fascination for films, I am not so comfortable with TV yet, but I breathe theatre. So that's what I have been doing," she said.
Her current stage performance includes a one-woman play called Tula Mi Mala Mi , the Marathi adaptation of a play by Girish Karnad
