Khan, Sarika's special ties
Imran Khan and Shruti Haasan may not have done any film together post disastrous 'Luck' but their families are as thick as ever. Imran's wife Avantika held a private trial show of Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu for close friends.
Avantika invited Sarika and her daughters too. Shruti was not in Mumbai and couldn't attend it.
But her mother Sarika and younger sister and Akshara made up for her absence. Interestingly Imran wasn't present for the show either as he was out shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's film.
But wife Avantika and mother Nuzhat took good care of Sarika and Akshara. Lets hope Shruti and Imran will team up again and try their luck again!
(less)Shruti Haasan admits getting nose-job
She says she went in for a corrective surgery in the US because she was facing breathing problems. She revealed on BIG CBS Love's show "India's Glam Diva" that she went through a septoplasty because of a common disorder involving a deviated septum.
Shruti, who made her Bollywood debut with Luck in 2009, and is also a singer, was apprehensive about undergoing the surgery for fear of it affecting her voice. Post-surgery, life has become a lot easier, she said, adding: "I am able to sleep peacefully and sing without any difficulty.
It is a minor procedure and I am greatly relieved." The 26-year-old, daughter of veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika, will share more details of her nose-job on the show, to be aired Sunday.

(less)Mani Ratnam's family woes
The 21-year-old daughter of South superstar Kamal Haasan and Sarika has politely turned down Mani's offer and has decided to learn filmmaking instead. Says Kamal, " I don't know why Akshara turned down the offer.
You can't question a 21- year-old. It's her decision.
I've never imposed my will on either of my two daughters. They're free to do what they wish to with their lives.
Akshara, I suspect, will follow my route, starting from behind the camera and then making her way to the front of the camera." Mani is married to Kamal's older brother Charu Haasan's daughter Suhasini.
This refusal would have surely come as a blow to the maverick, given his last film Raavan starring Aishwariya and Abhishek Bachchan flopped. The film he had in mind for Akshara's launch, according to sources, was not a typical love story for the youth market.
To be fair, Akshara so far been learning the ropes of filmmaking with no apparent interest in facing the camera like her older sibling Shruti, who has been doing Tamil and Hindi films for a few years now. Says a source, "Akshara seems content behind the camera despite getting a number of plum acting offers, but Mani is adamant.
He's very keen to launch Akshara as a leading lady, and has made the offer many times." For now, of course, Mani will have to cool his heels till the headstrong girl gives in to his demand.
He will have a tough time convincing her though, given she doesn't want to work with her father's production house either. "When Akshara decided she wanted to learn filmmaking, we decided she would not assist any of our home productions.
There would've been too much pampering on the sets. She assisted Rahul Dholakia instead.
Now she's free to move ahead in whatever direction she wants," says Kamal. Tweet
(less)Shruti Haasan is looking for a hit in Bollywood
Already an accomplished singer, she is making her mark as an actress. Associated with projects down South, it's interesting to note that her first major acting break was in the Bollywood film Luck .
In a candid chat with us, she talks about life, parents and her ambitions. Question :You've acted in two Hindi movies and the responses haven't been entirely great.
Do you regret them? Answer :No, not at all. I relished working in both of them.
The experience I gained is only going to enrich me. Question :So does that mean you're open to Bollywood? Answer : Off course.
There's a misconception running around that I won't do Hindi films and stick with South Indian cinema. Question :Talking of Kollywood, do you expect your upcoming flick 3 to be as viral as its song Kolaveri Di ? Answer :I wish! Even Dhanush and (music director) Anirudh weren't anticipating such a phenomenal reception but the song deserves all the success.
As far as 3 is concerned, I can only hope audiences enjoy watching it as much as I did being a part of it. Question :How come you don't feature in any of your dad's production? Is it a conscious decision? Answer : Yes, it is.
He isn't partial to me. If I were good enough to share the screen with someone of his calibre, he would have definitely cast me.
And anyway he launched my career at the age of six! What more can I ask for? Question :Do you consult your parents before signing up for a project? Answer : Their opinion matters a lot to me. However, they encourage all my decisions.
After all, I'll be the one dedicating, say 45 days or 80 days, to the project and I need to be 100 per cent assured. Question :Is it an advantage or a disadvantage to have both parents as actors? Answer : Well, I won't call them actors.
They are artistes. To them, the very art form is supreme.
I was lucky to grow up in a very artistic home where music played throughout the day and even a child's drawing was encouraged. Question :What about your singing? Answer :I can't compare the two as both are very different.
I'm just happy that I get to channel my talent, be it in playback singing or in front of the camera. I'm a trained singer but not a trained actor so obviously, I'll take time to find my footing.
Question :You're pretty active on Twitter and interact a lot with your fans..
. Answer : Many complain that I tweet a lot on food.
Frankly speaking, it's wonderful to interact with folks who not only love you but also provide constructive criticism. It'd be almost impossible to get in touch with them otherwise.
Question :Are you single? Answer : I'm boringly single. Tweet

(less)Kamal Haasan now works to re-launch daughter Shruti
Unlike Shruti, this Haasan girl doesn't want to act
The 19-year-old wants to learn every aspect of filmmaking. When Sarika heard that she wanted to learn the ropes, she had a word with Rahul and got Akshara on board the film.
The right guy..
. Sarika has worked with Rahul on Parzania and is quite impressed with his style.
She thought he was the right person to train her daughter. Akshara has no plans of facing the camera, like her parents.
She's strictly interested in the technical aspect of cinema: editing, special effects and direction. A source adds, "A few months back, Dimple Kapadia's nephew Karan was assisting Rahul for a short while during his summer holidays.
Now it's Akshara's turn. He's more than willing to share his knowledge with these kids.
" Even though Sarika and Karan have star connections, Rahul treated them like any other interns. Says a crew member, "They didn't get any preferential treatment just because of their relations with actors.
Both of them were extremely bright and ready to learn." Courtesy: Mid-Day.
