Aamir started item numbers in B-town: Raveena
..
After all, who would say no to a project when the Big B himself calls and asks you to do a role? I share a wonderful rapport with Amitabh Bachchanji, as we have worked together earlier in films like Aks. I loved doing the extended cameo in the film," says Raveena.
The Mohra girl is now excited about her two upcoming projects. "I play a pulp fiction writer in 'Shobana's 7 Nights'.
It is an ultra glam character, who deals with three complicated relationships in her life. In 'Gin Liya Aasman', I play a mother of a small boy, who has lost his father.
It's a performance-driven character," she says. Would Raveena call this her comeback? "How many times will I make a comeback? Whenever I sign a film, people ask if that is my comeback.
I am not signing films in a hurry. With my chat show on television, two films and my children, I have enough work in hand.
I need a break," she says. With item numbers becoming a rage in B-town, ask the original Mast Mast girl about her opinion on the Chikni Chamelis and Chammak Challos and she says, "Item numbers have become raunchier today.
Earlier, the lead actor of the film herself would do a 'special' number and that would be used to promote the film and its music album. The heroine would be fully clothed.
It's only recently that other actors are being asked to do these 'special' songs in the films. And you know whom I hold responsible for starting the item number trend in Bollywood? It's none other than Aamir Khan , who did that energetic number Dole dole dil dole.

"There are two heroines Shobana and Kalpana in this film and both are making their debut with Pani Thuli ," he added. When asked about what made him pick up this script and he said,"By working with big stars like Kamal sir, Big B, Nagarjuna sir and Mohanlal sir, I got to understand their approach to life and learnt a lot from them.

(less)Mani Ratnam reunites with Bharat Shah
Bobby Bedi of Kaleidoscope Entertainment bought the rights of Alaipayuthey and remade it into Saathiya in 2002. A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Bharat bhai shares a very good personal and professional rapport with Mani sir.
They had co-produced Saathiya with Yash Chopra earlier. The venture turned out to be a hit.
Bharat Bhai was keen to buy the remake rights of Thalapathi as the script and the treatment of the film has all the pre-requisites for an entertaining Hindi film." Thalapathi starring Rajinikanth , Mammootty and Shobana in the lead roles with Arvind Swamy, Srividya, Amrish Puri, Bhanupriya, Nagesh, and Charuhasan in supporting characters was inspired by the friendship between Karna and Duryodhana in the Hindu epic, Mahabharata.
"Bharat Bhai flew down to south India and after a long discussion with Mani, finalised the deal. His company, Mega Bollywood Pvt Limited (same company that made Devdas) bought the remake rights of the film at a hefty amount.
The film will be directed by Puja Jatinder Bedi, who is currenlty awaiting the release of his debut film Ghost," added the source. Bharat Shah confirmed the story and added, "We have bought the remake rights of Thalapati.
The project will commence after the release of Ghost." Having worked behind the scenes for films like Mangal Pandey , The Myth and Saathiya, Puja is excited for this big challenge.
She said, "The film was made in 1991 so I plan to modernise parts of the story as well as a few action sequences. However, I plan to keep the screenplay and the characters intact.
