Vikram to direct Ranbir Kapoor
The film, which starred Nitin, Nithya Menen and Sindhu Tolani in the lead, is said to be a family entertainer. Vikram reveals, "Ishq hit screens last month, and it has been received extremely well by both the audience and the critics.
I was offered a chance to remake the same in Hindi, and I approached Ranbir Kapoor for it. He agreed to work with me on the film, and is now sorting out his dates.
I'm yet to finalize the heroine and the rest of the cast and crew." Vikram, who has earlier made Alai (with Simbu and Trisha) in Tamil, admits he is yet to come up with an exciting script for Kollywood audience though!
(less)3-D is here to stay: Vikram Bhatt
I went in thinking it might be a two-hour film, but it turned out to be three-and-a-half-hours long. Without an interval, no less.
To this day, I have no idea where all that time went. As a filmmaker, it gave me a lot to think about.
Stunned the living daylights out of me." The director, who is currently shooting his latest film Raaz 3 in stereoscopic 3D (much like his last, Haunted) adds, "James Cameron is a perfectionist.
I have no doubt that despite the (limitations of) conversion, he will make it look as close to being shot in 3-D as you can get." Truth be told, the conversion for Titanic took over a year to complete, with James Cameron sitting in on every scene.
The entire movie has been digitally re-mastered for the re-release in both 2D and 3D, for very high picture quality and resolution, and the 3D conversion has cost Rs 90 Crore. The point isn't lost on us.
Most films converted to 3-D in post-production are rushed jobs, turning out to be darker versions than the originals with significant loss of light and depth of field. It kind of.
..
defeats the purpose. Shooting a film in 3-D however delivers on everything it promises.
Shooting in 3D is 'like going native', notes Vikram, who says that he had always been toying with the idea of making a film in the format, but was only able to six months after Cameron's other landmark film, Avatar , when the technology finally came here. Soon after, he made Haunted.
Should we expect more films to either be shot in or converted to the format? Says Bhatt, "3D is here to stay. What is now the exception, in times to come, may well be the norm.
" Titanic re-releases in 3-D on April 5
(less)Vikram Chatwal to work with Abhishek Bachchan
But then, when we met Vikram in Delhi some days ago, he said he'd been sober for over three weeks, and showed us the many religious tattoos on his arms, one of them being 'Safira', giving us a glimpse of his other side, the one that tabloids don't pick up. Vikram's multi-million dollar nuptials to Delhi model Priya Sachdev in 2006 made headlines, but after his split from Priya, Vikram has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
He was sent to rehab just a year after his marriage, and two rehab stints later, this model-cum-actor has embraced sobriety "for the sake of Safira". "It has been about three weeks since I quit drinking.
The urge comes..
. You just have to get around it.
I had got disconnected and lost focus, and I am doing this for myself, to enjoy life with my daughter," he says. Known as the hard partying billionaire in New York , Vikram was linked with Lindsay Lohan in 2011.
But he refuses to talk about the link-ups that made him a gossip column fixture. "I'd like to keep my private life and all those dating rumours about Hollywood women private," he asserts.
Instead, he chooses to talk about his current focus in life - his business, films and his daughter. "I was in India in January for a business trip.
I want to open a few hotels, and that takes time," he tells us. Intent on getting rid of his playboy image, Vikram, when quizzed about Angela Lindvall , his current flame whom he brought to India with him, defends his 'friend' as someone who wants to become a yoga guru.
"She's (Angela) a famous supermodel in America. She is studying Kundalini Yoga very seriously and she's learning to become a master teacher of yoga in America.
Her guru is Yogi Bhajan, who has converted 1.5 crore people in America to follow yoga.
He has written a lot of books. She follows him very seriously," he says.
Fresh out of a rehabilitation centre in Bangalore where he was kept on a strict diet of raw fruits and vegetables, Vikram says he is a changed man and wants to lose weight for his upcoming films. "They use certain oils, mud packs, a diet of fruits and vegetables - no medicines - to cure everyone from smokers to cancer patients.
On the 10th day, I found a bar of chocolate in my suitcase and had it, and it was like ecstasy..
. almost like an orgasm," Vikram says.
He'll also be getting back to acting as well as producing films soon. "I am doing a rugby film with Mickey Rourke , so I have to lose weight.
I lost 11kg in 11 days. I play tennis, squash and I do power yoga to keep me busy.
I also have a Shekhar Kapur film lined up for which I had to learn the British accent. I am also doing a film with Apoorva Lakhia, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham.
Then there's another called "Below Poverty Line" with Amy Jackson and Gulshan Grover , apart from a Hollywood film with Ashley Judd." But films are secondary in Vikram's life, and what really has all his attention is his five-year-old daughter Safira.
He says he is the typical overprotective father. "Once she starts mentioning dating and boys, I'll keep a gun on me," he says, only half-joking.
"I have a big influence on her life. I'm happy with the way her mom has raised her.
She's a nice little girl who likes to play with her friends. I am the only male who is close to her.
We play together, have baths together and I ask her questions about boys, and she gets very shy." He then adds, "I am not afraid of my daughter following in my footsteps, she's a very strong little girl.
There are things I am notorious for; I am sure she will eventually read about them. There were some pictures of me with an American actress that came out, and she was like 'Daddy, daddy, what are you doing?' But she's her own person and I'll be like any other Indian father.
I'll protect her and give her what she wants. When I got separated, I thought I wouldn't be spending much time with her, and that's what made me depressed and led to my drinking habit.
" What many people don't know is that Vikram is very superstitious and follows astrology closely. He even planned the birth of his first child around November.
"I believe in birthdates and astrology. I made sure my daughter was born a Scorpio because I get along with Scorpios really well.
I have a Scorpio tattoo, and 'Safira' inked on my arm. When Scorpios come in contact with other Scorpios, they become more passionate.
My close friend Sussanne Roshan is a Scorpio, and all we do is talk about being Scorpios. Any girl I've ever come across who was a Scorpio has challenged me, and been artistic and passionate.
I say stuff like 'knock on wood' and I bless myself with things, because I believe there's a force that's greater than us." Vikram also clears rumours about any tiff with his estranged wife, Priya (Sachdev).
"Priya and I talk about Safira all the time. We are really proud parents.
There are no hard feelings. In any relationship, it's tough, but if you're smart and mature, you will make sacrifices and make each other happy.
I am very proud of the way Priya has brought Safira up."
(less)Vikram Bhatt got me into acting: Bipasha Basu
" Raaz was a golden jubilee and none of the actors of my age had ever had it. It's amazing working with Vikram after so many years.
It's very nostalgic because Vikram actually got me interested in acting as I was lost," Bipasha told IANS. "I didn't go to college.
I dropped out of school and started modelling. I was very young and I was going through that flux where everyone decides what am I going to do.
After modelling, I was wondering what to do. I was bored of modelling.
That time actually Vikram got me to focus on this profession. So, coming back and working with him after so many years is fabulous," she added.
Bipasha feels the element of horror will be higher in Raaz 3 . "In Raaz 3 , we have a very good story, the emotional quotient is very high and the element of horror is very high.
Besides, we have it in 3D," the 33-year-old said. This is Bipasha's first 3D venture and she said: "Technically the film is very advanced.
Shooting from the first day is like a different experience because 3D cameras are different and the way you look at the monitors is different. So, it took me a day to adapt to everything and then I realised how interesting the process is.
It's good to experience to work like that." If she teamed up with Dino Morea in Raaz , this time she has Emraan Hashmi as her co-star.
"I have seen his work and he is a tremendous actor. We were pushed into the most difficult roles into the first week in Raaz 3 and it was only me and Emraan and we were like balls of energy hitting each other.
Amazing to see him perform. It was really good.

(less)Vikram reveals inspiration for 'Dangerous Ishhq'
. There have been several films on reincarnation.
What sets " Dangerous Ishhq " apart? "Dangerous Ishhq" is not about reincarnation, but regression. Unlike other films where the lead cast is shown being reborn, Karisma goes back into her past life to find a solution to the situation she is in presently.
Rajniesh is kidnapped, and each life she revisits gives her a clue on what is happening. Why choose Karisma Kapoor ? Firstly, I wanted someone who did not have any image.
And Karisma fit the bill as she was someone with a clean slate. And secondly, whether it was 1650 or 2012, she could portray being in both eras beautifully becuase she is a timeless beauty.
And Rajniesh Duggal ? Karisma has acted with most top actors and I wanted someone with a fresh face. I also wanted someone who has never worked with her.
What made you make a film on past life regression? I was in Los Angeles when I intuitively felt I should do regression. And when I actually did it, I got amazing insights into myself.
..
my soul..
. my past lives.
I was so enchanted by it that I learnt to do regression from a lady there. Interestingly, she told me that it was the higher masters and spirits that gave her the message to guide me spiritually.
It also inspired me to take up meditation. I have regressed myself, but have never done it on another person as yet.
Did the therapy help you get to know something unusual about yourself? I learnt the reason why I was suffering from asthma. I also learnt about the emotional upheavals in my life.
But it is too personal to discuss in print. The one amazing discovery I made is that not only the people you love - your near and dear ones - but even those you hate, meet you life after life repeatedly.
Produced by Reliance Entertainment DAR Motion Pictures and BVG Films, "Dangerous Ishhq" releases in 3D and 2D today

(less)Karisma has a dream role in Dangerous Ishq: Vikram Bhatt
Promotional activities are all set to kick-start with just a few months remaining for it's theatrical release. "The strength of Dangerous Ishq is its mind blowing idea.
The part that she gets to play in the film is a dream role for any actor. Karisma too understood that when 'Dangerous Ishq' was narrated to her.
"She comes with enough experience to gauge a film's strength at the script level itself. Once she agreed in principle, we developed the film a little bit more and were ready to roll," Bhatt told PTI.
However, Dangerous Ishq wasn't originally designed as a comeback vehicle of Karisma. The film's script was written well in advance without keeping any particular actress in mind.
Later it was pretty much a 'luck by chance' moment for both Vikram and the 37-year-old actress that the two ended up collaborating with each other. "I think everything is just about timing.
Karisma was at that stage in her life where she had decided to do a film. She was willing to give Bollywood a shot and was looking for the right script.
This was the time when I and my team were sitting with the casting director and Karisma's name popped up," said Bhatt. The director, who has films like Ghulam and Raaz to his credit, said he was initially apprehensive about casting Karisma in the lead.
"We were a little doubtful if she would do it but then the consensus was that she would be fabulous in doing a film like 'Dangerous Ishq'. Once we met, everything fell in place.
" Bhatt has had some misunderstandings and disagreements with his erstwhile mentors Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt that resulted in a fallout, but the team is together now with Raaz 3 . "Working with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt is like coming back to the house.
We wish each other well when it comes to our films. If I want their Jannat 2 to do well, they too are rooting for my Dangerous Ishq .
" With Jimmy Shergill and Rajneesh Duggall in the lead along with Divya Dutta and Ruslaan Mumtaz, Dangerous Ishq with music by Himesh Reshammiya is a co-production of Dar Motion Pictures, BVG Films and Reliance Entertainment and releases all over on May 11. Tweet

The movie, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, features Nikhil Dwivedi, Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiya. Bengali actress Paoli is known to have done one of the boldest scenes in Bengali cinema in "Chatrak".
But it is not clear whether the girl in the picture is Paoli or not. However, if one goes by the first look of "Hate Story" alone, the audiences can hope for a steamy affair by Bhatt this time
