Priyadarshan is very demanding: Zayed Khan
"He (Priyadarshan) is very demanding. He expects the best out of you and doesn't like excuses when you are on the sets and cannot come up with the goods," the 31-year-old said here.
Zayed and Priyadarshan have teamed up for the first time in Tezz , which also features Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor , Boman Irani, Kangna Ranaut and Sameera Reddy , with southern superstar Mohanlal in a cameo. "If he (Priyadarshan) gets disinterested in your performance and if the performance is not up to the mark, he'll cancel the whole shoot and he'll say get lost, go find yourself and when you are ready tell me because I don't want to waste my time', which is very unnerving at times," said Zayed.
"But of course, that brings the best out of you," he added. Zayed says Priyadarshan is one of those rare directors for whom stars drop their attitude.
"He is a completely old school director who has constantly evolved as a person and as a director with his films." "I feel Priyan sir is the kind of guy.
..
Even if you have ten stars waiting for their shot, none of them really minds it because they know when he takes his and their time, he crafts the scene so well and he makes you understand what you have to do so well that you feel you are in damn good hands," he added
(less)Zayed Khan's set to produce his second film
We are in the scripting stage right now," Zayed Khan told reporters. The film's cast is yet to be decided.
"We haven't boiled down on who is in the film. I am dying to do the film.
But I will have to audition for it. We want cool, edgy characters.
I am excited to be part of it," said Zayed. The 31-year-old seems to be loving his part as a producer.
"When you are producing a film, you actually control the taste and class of the film. How to introduce the villain, what will unnerve you.
..
you could build on these things and make a film better," he added. Zayed turned producer with his good friend, actress Dia Mirza and her beau Sahil Sanga .
Together, they launched production company Born Free Entertainment last year. He says Dia better be happy with the fact that their second film is not romantic, but an action-comedy.
"Dia has to be happy because the first film Love Breakups Zindagi was made of her choice," he said
(less)Mallika Sherawat eyes only for Ajay Devgn
In fact, before the shoot, she walked up to Ajay, introduced herself and chatted with him for quite some time." Mallika says, "I love Ajay's work since seeing Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Singham.
He's such a cool and friendly person to work with. In fact one of the reasons I did the song was because of him.
Ajay is my favourite actor." We wonder what Mallika's other co-stars, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan (who were also present in the song) thought about being ignored so blatantly?
(less)Ajay Devgn joins Mallika in item number
Leading actors Ajay Devgn and Zayed Khan will also join Mallika for this song. Though the two will not shake a leg with the damsel, the actors will be featured in the song.
Mallika will be seen in one of her most glamorous avatars. The actress will be sporting costumes designed by famous Bollywood designer Ashley Rebello .
The song has been schedule to wrap up in just four days. Apparently 'Laila' will be different from Mallika's earlier item numbers.
Famous for her sexy item songs, Mallika has done item numbers like Jalebi Bai, Razia gundon mein phans gayi and Shalu ke thumke
(less)Two decades on, Ajay still wants to experiment
I want to do every genre and am ready to experiment with my roles. I don't want to let my producers or directors down," said Ajay in a statement.
His last release "Singham" crossed the Rs.100 crore mark at the box-office, but he says this level of popularity and fame frightens him.
"It feels great when you are a part of movie reaching the Rs.100 crore mark.
But at the same time, it frightens me as an actor and makes me feel more responsible with every release." "I am working hard and am happy with the films I do and I expect that every film I am a part of should cross the 100 crore mark," said Ajay, who is looking forward to the release of his film "Tezz".
The film, which also features Boman Irani, Zayed Khan, Anil Kapoor, Sameera Reddy and Kangna Ranaut with southern star Mohanlal in a cameo, will hit the screens Friday
(less)Good to maintain gap between similar films: Anil
"I think the real fun lies in this gap, whether you do action, comedy, romance, give some gap. Then you also enjoy doing it and the audience also loves watching it," added the 52-year-old.
"Tezz", directed by Priyadarshan, also features Ajay Devgn, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani, Sameera Reddy and Kangna Ranaut. Anil guarantees the film has some action sequences never seen before in Bollywood.
"'Tezz' has been filmed in Britain and we have used Hollywood technicians. The film is huge and a lot of money has been spent on it," he said.
"This may be just my thinking..
. but I believe there are some sequences in the film that you'll see for the first time in an Indian film," said Anil.
The movie will hit screens Friday
(less)Mallika Sherawat replaces Sameera Reddy
Mallika is the third actress to be approached and who is finally doing the song. Says a source, "Sameera was to do the introductory item song with Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan .
She had lost a lot of weight and was almost set to do it when she read in the media that she was no longer doing it as the makers felt she was a bit too voluptuous to fit the character. Then the producer decided to approach Priyanka Chopra.
While Priyan felt Sameera was still the right choice. But somewhere while Priyanka was in talks with the producer and director, Mallika started sending feelers from USA to Ratan Jain that she would love to do the number - and might even consider doing it for a nominal amount.
" Apparently even discussions with a top fashion model was going on. But finally everything has been sorted out and Mallika is now doing the item song.
"There was a rumor that lead actor Ajay Devgn had exressed his dissatisfaction of working with Priyanka in the item song so the makers had to backtrack. Finally Priyanka too opted out of the song citing date issues and today afternoon Mallika was signed to do the song.
So finally Sameera and Priyanka's loss is Mallika's gain. Mallika will come back from the USA and shoot for the song.
She has never shot with Ajay before and is very excited about it. Mallika will be adopting a very earthy, rustic and sensuous look for the song.
" Jalebi bai (Mallika) has certainly won this round!
(less)I thank God for all success, says Aamir Khan
"I am humbled that you all are here to wish me. My day starts with you, with your good wishes," said an overwhelmed Aamir.
He also cut a cake. "I would thank God who has given me all the success and happiness that god has showered on me in my personal life.
We were recently blessed with a kid named Azad so I am thankful to god," said the actor, dressed casually in shorts and a T-shirt. Hours before Aamir Khan turned 47 came the big news break last night.
Talaash , his psychological thriller due to release in June, has been postponed. Today, Aamir apologised to his fans for the delay.
" Talaash is very close to my heart. Earlier, we were trying to release it in January.
Then we announced it for June. Now, the date has been pushed to either November 30 or December 7.
I am sorry for this, I know my fans are waiting for Talaash ," he said. Pics: How Aamir spent his birthday "Reason behind this is the show I was doing.
The set caught fire and the entire set was destroyed. So, the show got delayed a bit.
So, I am focusing on the show, which is impacting the release date of Talaash," he added. Aamir Khan is one of the producers of the film; the others are Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
Talaash , directed by Reema Kagti, also stars Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji. Ostensibly, the release date has been postponed keeping in mind Aamir Khan's debut on TV, also slated for June.
"Right now my life revolves around the show. My team and me are trying to do something different.
I have been working on this show for last two years. This is my life's ambitious project," Aamir said.
"I am very excited about my television debut. Usually today's day (birthday) I spend with my family, but today I will be leaving for the shooting of my television show," he added.
Given the extensive and innovative promotions which Aamir undertakes for each of his films, the reason to shift dates is credible. Or is it? Dig a little deeper.
On the other side, old rival Shah Rukh Khan is neck-deep in filming his big Diwali release - the untitled Yash Raj film with Katrina Kaif. If their first-time together on screen isn't big enough, this one is surely the clincher - master director Yash Chopra returns to direct SRK after eight years.
Their last film together was Veer-Zaara , with Preity Zinta in the female lead role. With Diwali on November 13, SRK's film will release roughly two weeks before Talaash .
Like ghost of Diwali past, when a similar situation was played out in 2008. That year Aamir's Ghajini outpaced SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi .
While Ghajini became a huge blockbuster, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , though a blockbuster, didn't inspire haircuts and chiseled bodies. Many said at the time that smart promotions are what worked in Ghajini 's favour - including movie theatre staff sporting Aamir's signature cut from the film.
Pics: Aamir Khan turns 47 Will 2012 see yet another slickly-promoted Aamir Khan film hog the limelight and the box-office and the awards (though Aamir steadfastly shuns them)? We'll know in a few months. Till then, there are huge numbers of his fans counting down the days.
Aamir Khan fans are going ballistic on Facebook and Twitter. "1st reaction to Talaash delay news - "Shit Happens!" :x, says a tweet.
"TV killed the movie star," says another. Others say SRK will be upstaged (we can't use the real word here, so think of the extreme form) by Aamir and Aamir by Salman's Dabanng 2 ! Clearly, fans are watching the moves of the biggest Khans of the industry! Meanwhile, with each passing year, Aamir looks younger and says that it is all because of his parents' genes.
"There is no secret behind this. I would only thank my 'ami' and 'abbajaan' who has given me these genes.
Whatever we are, it is given by our parents. I try to live a healthy life," he said.
